This story had my heart twisted up in all sorts of directions because of the intensity of the heartache, pain and love came screaming off the pages in this book. Add in the intensity of the plot against the Slayers who want to destroy the werewolves and you have a recipe for a superb story.
Lucien Mondragon and Rafael Vulkasin are twin brothers who are the respective alphas of their packs - the Mondragon Pack and the Vulkasin Pack. Lucien’s attitude toward his brother is very bitter and hateful ever since Rafael killed his mate. Rafael is confident in the decision he made to slay Lucien’s mate because he was sure she was a Slayer - the Lycan’s worst enemy - and in turn, saving Lucien’s life since laying with a Slayer is punishable by death.
Because Rafael killed Lucien’s mate, Lucien has declared his right in the Blood Law where he is able to exact the same offense upon his brother, the offending party. Falcon, Rafael’s mate is ordered by the elders who oversee and uphold the laws of the packs to go to Lucien. The beginning of the story has the reader thrown into the middle of the ramifications of Rafael handing over Falcon to Lucien creating an astounding start to a great book.
As a heroine, Falcon is level headed, brave, and is able to do what she needs to do in order to make sure the packs stay cohesive rather than war with each other despite the declaration of the Blood Law on Lucien’s insistence. Because of her powers and ther relationship with the two alphas, she becomes a major player int he building conflict.
Falcon’s personal life gets more complicated. The more time Falcon spends with Lucien, she falls in love with him, too. Because of the tie she spends with Lucien, she also learns more about herself and her powers. The strength of the feelings she has for both Lucien and Rafael causes Falcon to be torn between the feelings she has for each brother since they have both melded to her soul. They each fulfill here in different and inexorable ways which make her complete. In addition, she has a strong feeling that she is supposed to be with both brothers and has a strong suspicion that the Prophecy of the Three relates to the three of them.
Bloodright is an outstanding book and I am waiting with bated breath for the next installment of this series. If you are a paranormal romance genre reader, this is a book you do not want to pass up. It has everything one could hope for in a good book - love, hate, mayhem, sensual moments, Lycans. Absolutely a hands down five star read! And the ending will leave you pining for more.
Happy Reading from Bona Fide Reflections!!

Destiny Unchained by Leia Shaw is a jaunty tale of a determined alpha werewolf and a lethal vampiress known as The Huntress who is emotionally aloof.Destiny Unchained by Leia Shaw is a jaunty tale of a determined alpha werewolf and a lethal vampiress known as The Huntress who is emotionally aloof. The start of the story is not ideal for Natalia, our vampire huntress; but, she is able to extricate herself from the situation and leaves the situation physically unscathed; but, emotionally she is touched and she soon she finds herself in the arms of one of the creatures she hunts down. Not only emotionally compromised, she find herself in need of his help to hunt down her current mark.
Cristian is the leader of his pack and has been unattached since losing his mate decades ago. However, after meeting Natalia, his wolf and his libido sit up and take notice. As the story progresses, Cristian realizes that his territory and is pack are under attack by the rogue werewolf Natalia is tracking for extermination. In order to be successful at accomplishing their goals, Cristian and Natalia will team up.
This story was such a fun read. I liked the way the male/female role was juxtaposed. Usually in romances the man is the one with the steely unreachable countenance and the woman is usually the one who is able to break down the walls built around his heart. In this paranormal romance, Natalia is the dispassionate one and Cristian is the one who is receptive to his feelings and acts accordingly. Natalia is does not know how to handle her feelings for Cristian and makes some emotionally difficult decisions where she has to re-think her whole way of life.
Destiny Unchained by Leia Shaw was a very delectable read. Cristian is adorable and Natalia is worth the effort it takes to forgive and love. The journey they take together is amusing and austere at times. Ms. Shaw has created a paranormal romance series that is worth reading because her delivery of her mythos, character building and sense of humor are original, charming and compelling. You need to give this author a chance to regale you with her narratives because you won’t regret it. Her novels have personality, spice, action, and an HEA....more
Cry Wolf by Angela Campbell is a sweet contemporary love story with an air of paranormal mystery as part of the main plot. Andrea Lockhart and Sean HuCry Wolf by Angela Campbell is a sweet contemporary love story with an air of paranormal mystery as part of the main plot. Andrea Lockhart and Sean Hunter used to be friends and co-workers in college; but since then, they have not been in contact with one another.
Andrea is sent to Woodbine, South Carolina to research an article on a werewolf sighting. While on assignment with the Naked Truth, a tabloid publication, she finds herself in an awkward position (literally) when she reconnects with Sean who is the editor of the local paper, the Woodbine Weekly. Her chance in counter with her former college crush is amusing.
A lot has happen in their respective lives since they knew each other in college . Due to those fortuitous events, they have both grown up having been drastically shaped by those circumstances. As Andrea and Sean spend more time together to uncover the werewolf mystery, they realize how much they care for each other but are afraid to reveal the truth of those feelings to the other.
The delivery of the story starts off slowly. But as you continue reading the story, Cry Wolf picks up speed and leads the reader down a path to uncover the truth behind the werewolf sightings and the maturing of the love connection between the two main characters. The sexual tension between the protagonists is appealing and done in such a manner as to offend romance readers who prefer their love scenes on the mild side. To add to the sweetness and enjoyment of the story, is the small town setting and the secondary characters the reader meets along the way.
While I enjoyed reading this book there were parts in the story where I found myself frustrated because the pace was slow and I found my self loosing my connection to the heroine because of her attitude and stubbornness. Overall, this a good debut novel and I am looking forward to seeing how Angela Campbell matures as a writer.

Delicate Freakn' Flower by Eve Langlais is about a young werewolf woman named Naomi who grew up in a household with five older brothers who tended to get scrappy a lot around the house. The violence inherent in the male animal shape-shifters to disclose deep feeling in her childhood home did not lend itself to Martha Stewart type decorating or sensibilities. So her mom had to “make do” to with mismatching dishes and sturdy, well worn furniture.
Naomi is bound and determined to find a nice, intelligent, quiet, non-violent human male for a mate when she is ready to settle down. She just wants a home where she can have nice things and know they will not end up in pieces at the end of the day. Despite her “delicate” needs, Naomi knows how to scrap with the best of the shifter population, especially since she had to deal with five older werewolf brothers growing up.
However, fortune has other plans in mind for Naomi once she is, quite literally, smacked in the face with the “injustice” of discovering she has two sexy, shifter lacrosse players for mates. Ethan is a Kodiak bear and Javier is a jaguar. Naomi cringes inside at the thought of being tied to two dumb, though very sexy, shifters for the rest of her life. As time passes, Naomi is left wondering if there isn’t more to her mates than first met the eye.
The only reason I was not able to give 4 stars to the story was that I would get weary of Naomi’s calamitous attitude at times. On the whole, Delicate Freakn Flower was a very gratifying shifter-love story. It provided humor, loyalty, two sexy tenacious men , steamy love, and moments of tenderness. Eve Langlais is fast becoming an author I trust to entertain me in the paranormal romance genre.
Some of my favorite lines from the novel are:
... the impressive speed and strength displayed by the lacrosse players—two in particular—made her girly parts tingle. Even more surprising, something about these males made her inner wolf yip in excitement. -- *snickers* @ girly parts
She wanted to hate that he kept destroying her stereotypical view of a jock, but instead she grudgingly liked him more and more. The jerk.
She wished she owned a mental muzzle for her inner wolf who spun in circles woofing while she chased her tail giddily.

Megan Moraine and her younger, twin cousins - Jillian and Jenny - have fallen on hard times since they escaped imprisonment from an island where they were confined for being a different, “inferior” type of Draicon (werewolf). They are rare Shadow Wolves which are wolves that can turn invisible. Because of their unconventional talent, they are ostracized by the Draicon community. Megan is prepared to protect her cousins and has done everything she can to ensure their safety.
While on the run to Louisiana to seek refuge and connect with a relative of Jillian and Jenny’s, the trio desperately endeavor to avoid the Enforcers who will apprehend them and return them to the island they left. Tired, dispirited and in desperate need of assistance to get to their destination, they are taken into custody by Gabriel Robichaux who has a reputation for being brutal and unforgiving against the Shadow Wolves.
Interest flares between Megan and Gabriel immediately upon their meeting; but, neither one knows what to do with the attraction. Despite her feelings toward Gabriel, Megan is bound and determined to see that her young cousins get to Louisiana at any cost. Regardless of his reputation, Gabriel is not what he seems. He has a few secrets of his own he agonizingly attempts to keep hidden from the world and Megan.
As the Gabriel and Megan spend more time together, their attachment deepens. The biggest obstacle to their relationship emerges in the need to have complete trust in each other. They will need to obtain this high level of mutual certainty in order to accomplish their mission to keep Jillian and Jenny safe. Megan's safety depends on this, as well.
This story has many good elements that make a paranormal romance worth reading. The plot and love story mesh well with each other and offer a cohesive, believable adventure. I would recommend The Shadow Wolf as a good summer read to enjoy at the beach or the pool.
