After reading I Want It That Way, I was curious to read about Lauren & Rob's story. I am a true sucker for the kind of romance when the couple I'm reading about grows up together. It's actually mu favorite type of story. I liked this story a bit more than the first because I liked Lauren. A lot. I loved her personality and her quirks. She is very intelligent and articulate and you can't help but love her. I liked how she was an introvert and loved computers as well. Her childhood crush on Rob was really really sweet. Rob was super cute and sweet as well. I loved that he had this outside appearance that everybody saw but deep on this inside was a complex man. I don't know how to describe it but he just gave me the warm fuzzies and made me want to hug him. Like, all the time. Lauren & Rob's chemistry was hawt. Aguirre knows how to write a really good love scene let me tell you. It was....innocent....yet nasty. Which equals YUM. So props to Ann Aguirre for accomplishing that huge task. ;-) The love that the two have for each other was really quite special. They were the perfect couple. They kept pushing each other up and being there when the other needed it. I enjoyed this book very much and am looking forward the next in the series. ...more

Let me just start off by saying that the fact each one of these books is a Backstreet Boys songs has my tweeny-bopper self totally fangirling it right now. ahem... I thought this book was adorable. Nadia was a very driven girl going to college and had plans for herself. She was doing a great job juggling all of her classes and her job. She had a great personality and was unlike anybody her age really. Ty was awesomesauce. Seriously. And a ginger to boot? Ha! I love gingers (hence why I married one). Ty was really hot. Nadia & Ty's chemistry was off the charts and what made it better was that they were trying so hard to fight it. The story was really cute and I enjoyed the entire thing. I can't wait to read the next one in the series....more

I've never read anything by Michael Johnston though.
Then I read the synopsis and it sounded very interesting. So I requested it and here I am.
I'll start off by saying that it took me a while to finish this book. Meaning that I kept putting it down to do other things. It kept my interest but did not completely grab me. I could put it down and walk away. But the story was different and I wanted to find out what happens to the characters.
In the beginning, it was sort of hard to follow and understand what actually happened to the earth. After a while, you got the jist of things. I don't think I quite understood how much of a fantasy read this was until I got way into the book. I'm not much for fantasy but this kept me interested.
Throughout the book, the writing seemed a little...rushed? Or, maybe...unpolished. I'm not too sure what it was but it kept me thinking "Ummmm..." quite a bit. Everything seemed to happen at once. There were some suspenseful moments but fell kind of flat for the action portion.
The characters felt like they were WAY older than 16 years old. The way they acted and reacted just made it seem like they were in their late 20's. Perhaps an apocolyptic world will do that to you I suppose.
I know this review is sort of short but I'm just not that impressed. Too much happened all the time and no character development really. I don't think I'll be picking up the sequel....more
