THISI started this book on Thursday at 5:30pm and finished is Saturday at 2:20 am. This was one of those books that made me not want to stop reading. THIS is why I read!! I am a HUGE Rachel Vincent fan so I might be a little biased. ;)I have been a fan of Rachel's since I read STRAY in '06. I like to think that I can give an objective persepective on things. I am not an actual reviewer but I do read a lot of books. I absolutley LOVE this series. I still have a soft spot for the shifter series but this is running a close second. Rachel has this talent for capturing your attention and keeping it throughout. From the first 10-12 pages I was caught and I didn't want it to end. The twists, turns, heartbreak and love scenes are what make this a fantastic read. If you haven't read any ot the first books, this'll make you want to. Rachel is (and always will be) my all-time favorite author. Even though in her books she makes me cry and breaks my heart, I understand the need to have those breaks in it and it makes it more real and relatable. Once again, thank you Rachel for being such a great writer and an inspiration. I can't wait to read what's next!...more

Her Riley Jenson series is one of my favorite series to read. It also helped that this is almost a continuation of the same stories. The book started off action-packed and never stopped. Well....except for sexy scenes integrated in there ;). I love Risa's character and her personality. I was also excited to see Riley made her chameo a few times :-). Lucian was a VERY nice addition as well. I was heartbroken in there for a bit. Can't say I was surprised because the way it was worded....I knew it was coming. Still broke a bit anyways. All I can say is YAY for this new series and I can't wait to read the next book (I've already pre-ordered it on Amazon ;))....more

This book kept my attention the whole time. Hence the way I finished it in two-three days. Unfortunately I didn't remember what EXACTLY happened in the first two book since they were spread out. But I caught the jist of them all in this one. I loved it even more possibly because of the fact that I didn't remember what happened in the last two since Nora didn't remember anything either. ;) It made it all the more better trying to remember just as she had. I can't wait to read the next one. But I think a couple weeks before it comes out, I'll re-read the first three to catch me up. That's the problem with the books being so spaced out like that. It sucks but it has to happen that way I guess. I'd recommend this series to anyone. In fact someone has borrowed my first two already. ;) One thing.....I get so frustrated when Patch and Nora get together and can't finish what they started. Grrrr.... lol Really good read. I can't wait til the next one! ...more

This book was just as**spoiler alert** I am always afraid to read the 2nd book in a series because I always wonder if it'll be as good as the first. This book was just as awesome if not better than the first. This book was an emotional rollercoaster for just about everyone in the book. I felt so bad for all the characters. My heart broke for them over and over again. I'm still in between which one I'm for...Jem...or Will. They are both good for Tessa in different ways. Although Will loves her with such a passion that one cannot be jealous of it a little bit. Jeam is such a sweet character. He is so kind but he has a quiet strength that no one really realizes. Everybody sees him as being weak but he has the advantage there since no one suspects it. Tessa is such a great character. I felt so bad for her through out the entire book. She wants to do the right thing but sometimes things get muddled in between. Charlotte and Henry add that little special something that wouldn't make this book the same without it. I loved loved LOVED the little sneak peek into their life. It was just so cute I couldn't stop myself from smiling. Sophie is another great character that this book needs. She has so much passion, strength, and courage rolled up in her...it's mind blowing. I'm still not sure what's the deal with Bridget. I want to think she's going to be bad because of all the sad ballads she sings. Gives her almost an eerie feeling to read about. Above all these sits Magnus. I have to say he has to be one of THE BEST characters in this entire series (including TMI). He is the kind of character you wish was real so you can become BFF's with him. This book had it all....suspense, romance, steamy scenes, heartache, action and comedy. I would recommend this to anyone. I like The Infernal Devices better than The Mortal Insrtuments because the setting is in England and it gives it more of a dark feel to it. I think Cassandra Clare grows more and more every time she writes a new book. This is a great series and another hit! Here are some of my favorite quotes: -"Lose her ?" Magnus's mind fastened on the word; he sat up straigh, narrowing his eyes. "This is about Tess. I knew it was." Will flushed, a wash of color across the pallor of his face. "Not just her." "But you love her." Will stared at him. "Of course I do," he said finally. "I had come to think I would never love anyone, but I love her." **Swoons** -Will's face twisted. "Don't make it sound like that. Like some ordinard sort of grief. It's not like that. They say time heals all wounds, but that presumes the source of the grief is finite. Over. This is a fresh wound every day." **Heart Breaks** -"You cannot save every fallen bird," said Woolsey, leaning back against the wall crossing his arms. "Even the handsome ones." "One will do," said Magnus, and, as Will was no longer within his sight, he let the front door shut. ...more

I picked it up at Target on a whim. I was looking for something to read. I read the blurb on the back and thought, "what the hell? I'll try it." Ever since that fateful day, I have been addicted to Faythe, Marc, and Jace (of course). I loved how Faythe is an independant woman who can kick some serious ass. The best part of this book is I love first person narrative. It makes you feel like you are the one who got caught. Or that you're the one investigating. This book gave me just what I was looking for. For al ong time I was reading so many different novels that basically read the same. This was a great change. I let my friends and family borrow the book (they had to give it back of course). Every one who I gave the book to was just as hooked as I was. Then I was so surprised to learn this was a SERIES!!! Woot woot for me! I can't wait to read the next one. :-)
First of all, I’ve read this once already. I’ve read the entire series once already. I mainly started the series again because of FiWhy did I pick it?
First of all, I’ve read this once already. I’ve read the entire series once already. I mainly started the series again because of Fiktshun’s Soul Screamers Reading Challenge (for info click HERE). I’ve honestly been meaning to re-read this series anyways because it’s been a while and I forgot some things (my bad ). The reading challenge was just the push I needed to start it up. And let. me. tell. you….
What did I think?
Completely awesome the second time around. I thought that I might not enjoy these as much by reading them the second time but….dammit it’s even better the second time. I forgot how much of an absolute dreamboat Nash is. He is just sooo…..*swoons* There are just no words right now….
Even though I know ALL about what’s going to happen in the upcoming books, I still can’t get over how surprised I still am when I’m reading the book. Kaylee is such a strong person (much stronger than I am….I’m a wimp). Nash is the perfect match for her in this book.
Now let’s talk about some of the other characters in this book…..
Kaylee’s dad Aiden. At first you think that he’s just this no-show of a dad who abandoned his only daughter. For selfish reasons at that. But when he finally enters the picture, you see such a difference and realize he loves her like no other. He had his reasons (not that I agree with all of them). But it all comes down to how much he truly does care about Kaylee. It shows.
Uncle Brendon: He is a sweet man who tries to look for the best in the situation and take care of things. He cares about Kaylee too but in an objective sort of way. Yes he loves her but sometimes it feels like he’s at a loss of what to do with her. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great man. He just seems lost when it came to Kaylee.
Sophie: Self-centered but I think she has a soft spot for Kaylee. They don’t get along really well because….well….Sophie’s Aunt Val and Uncle Brendon’s daughter so she got spoiled. Whereas Kaylee…errr..didn’t . She’s a snob LOL
Aunt Val: Ummm….in this book and in the first, I didn’t care for her. I really didn’t. Very materialistic and self absorbed. There were times when I straight up wanted to smack her a few times. Like I mentioned above…Kaylee’s stronger than I would be (in all kinds of situations).
Emma: The. perfect. best. friend. EVER! I love her humor and she’s so perfect for Kaylee.
Nash: *bats eyes* *swoons* He so sweet with Kaylee and a real hottie. He sounds absolutely yummy. Totally. He cares for Kaylee and is willing to support her no matter what.
Tod: Not a lot to really go on in this book. He comes off as a jerk and almost a creeper LOL. Still…he sounds just as dreamy as Nash
Harmony: Such a mom I loved her and her baking. She’s so sweet I wanted to bundle her up and take her home.
On a side note…
As I’ve also mentioned above, I have read all the other books up to If I Die. So I know more about what happens to whom and what doesn’t happen.
I’m trying to re-read these as if I’m reading these for the first time, which it almost is technically. Like I said….it’s been a while. I have to say, re-reading these after so long is ahhhh-mazing. I love every second and every word. I devour these pages like they were my last and enjoy every minute of it.
I can’t wait to re-read the next one and do my review.
Nash took my free hand in his, and I forgot whatever I’d seen. He pushed my hair back from my right ear. I couldn’t understand most of what he whispered to me, but I gradually came to realize that his actual words weren’t important. What mattered was his proximity. His breath on my neck. His warmth melting into mine. his scent surrounding me. His voice swirling in my head, insulating me from the scream still ricocheting against my skull.
“She also told us not to drink.” Emma rolled her big brown eyes. “If she really meant that, she wouldn’t have snuck us into a bar.” That was Emma-logic, all right. The longer you thought about it, the less sense it made.
Crap. He was actually crying. I didn’t know how to deal with a crying father. I barely knew how to deal with a normal one.

I've been meaning to re-read this entire series because it's one of my favorites. Rachel Vincent is my all time favorite author. She's the reason I went into paranormal and urban fantasy.
It's really kind of great to re-read these books after so long because I get to go through all the emotions I felt when I read it the first time.
I have to say....it's better the second time around. ;-)
Like I said above, I've been meaning to re-read this series but a lot of other awesome books have gotten my attention and I kept putting it off.
My blogger friend Rachel over at Fiktshun.com thought of the fabulous idea to have a Soul Screamers Reading Challenge. It's mainly to promote the newest addition to the whole series Before I Wake. But it gives a lot of readers the push they need to read or, in my case, re-read the series for fun (and for prizes *wink*).
It was the push I needed to get me to read these again.
After I re-read My Soul to Lose today, I almost felt like I was falling in love with Kaylee all over again. This prequel is such the perfect start to this entire series. You don't know what's going to happen or what actually is happening. You're just as out of the loop as Kaylee is. It makes it that much better.
Even though it's been a while since I've read this prequel, I still felt every heart wrenching emotion Kaylee did in it. My heart broke over and over again for her when she wakes up all alone and doesn't know where she is.
Everything she goes through seems so real that you can imagine yourself being her. Being there. Seeing those white walls, hearing the screams...it's crazy.
This is the perfect start to this series. Rachel Vincent never lets up on the action or inrtigue in any of her novels. This is just a small sample of what RV can do ;-).
The reality was probably much less far-fetched, but just as scary: I was trapped. Helpless, and exposed, and vulnerable. And suddenly I couldn't breathe. Couldn't make my heart stop racing.
I personally didn't care is Sophie danced in the nude. In fact, the life experience might open up some interesting career opportunities for her someday. (hehe) ...more
