Meyers and it focuses on Jonas and how he became the powerful being he is when we meet him in Intangible. I didn't think it was possible to like Jonas anymore than I already did but I was so wrong. He has overcome SO much in his life and dealt with so much tragedy. My heart just broke for him as I read this novella. There was quite a bit of crying going on here. I went through half a box of kleenex. J. Meyers, you've done it again. I get more enthralled with these characters with every tidbit you give us. I can't wait to see what you show us next! (less)

We have rescinded our earlier decision to stick to YA only because I adore a good steamy romance and Inara Scott always delivers. So when she approached me about whether I'm still reviewing adult titles as well as YA, I had a little chat with Lana and we decided we will no longer be specializing in any genre. Ahem, ok, so explanation over.
The Boss's Fake Fiancee is a sequel to Rules of Negotiation, only it focuses on Brit's sister, Melissa and her boss (Tori's client) Garth. Scott has once again crafted a sweet yet steamy story with vibrant and interesting characters for us to fall in love with. I can honestly say I have never read a book by Inara Scott that I didn't absolutely love from start to finish, regardless of which genre she was writing in. She is easily one of my very favorite authors and that is VERY hard for me to say.
The story follows both Melissa and Garth, slipping back and forth between them giving us a glimpse into what makes them each tick. They are both fantastic characters; complex and enchanting, but I have to admit that Garth is my favorite. I cannot help but love him. He is my favorite of all Inara Scott's male leads. He's very private and he is widely known as 'the human computer'. People don't see his dry humor and fierce loyalty, though. Or the struggles he's had to overcome to get where he is in life. I adore him.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good love story. Inara Scott has written what I consider to be the perfect romance and I look forward to reading more from her.(less)

This was another that sat on my to read list for far too long before I finally had the chance to pick them up. I have to thank my lovely friend Touya from The Reader's Garden for badgering me until I was completely enthralled with just the idea of reading these books. I devoured all four volumes in a week. Then I went and read all the novellas, (yes, out of order, sorry guys). I couldn't pause between books to see which one went where. That was last month and even with my busy reviewing schedule for the blog I am currently re-reading The Iron King. I was already experiencing withdrawal from Julie Kagawa's brilliance.
The Iron Fey series is written by the fantastically talented Julie Kagawa and consists of four full length novels (The Iron King, The Iron Daughter, The Iron Queen and The Iron Knight) and three novellas (Winter's Passage, Summer's Crossing and Iron's Prophecy). It is centered around 16-year-old Meghan Chase as she learns about her true heritage and is pulled into the Nevernever to save her brother and finds herself immersed in the surreal landscape of the fey.
This series is the complete package; it has everything you could possibly hope to find in a book. We have a strong willed, loyal female lead in Meghan. Ash more than fills the role of the oh-so-swoon-worthy yet deadly prince. Puck is the consummate best friend and prankster, cracking jokes while always having Meghan's back. And of course, we cannot forget the seemingly all-knowing guide/ally, Grimaulkin, who just happens to be a cat. There are more than enough villain types to go around as well.
This series is emotionally charged and pulses with danger and suspense. I found myself completely drawn in from the very beginning and it still hasn't let me go. Julie Kagawa has created this beautifully terrifying universe and populated it with interesting and dynamic characters that will ensnare your heart and mind. I am very glad I waited until all four books were released before reading it-honestly, I don't know how I would have survived the wait between books. I am very excited about the spin off series ( tune in later on this week for my review of The Lost Prince!)
Do you love stories of the fey, laughing, crying, being terrified and excited all at the same time? If so, this series is tailor made for you. The Iron Fey is a powerhouse production, completely enchanting and highly addictive; I dare you to read it and not love every moment. (less)

This book was perfect in every way-I was on an emotional rollercoaster the entire time!!! Fantastic! Wonderful. Superb. I can keep going! Thank you for another fabulous installment in Stasia's story!!! I can't wait for book 4!! (less)

As some of you may remember, Lana and I both absolutely LOVED Book 1 in the series, Forsaken. So when we found out that Young Adult Novel Reader was putting together a tour for the sequel, Lana and I jumped at the chance to be a part of it. I know I have been eagerly awaiting this sequel since the moment I finished book one.
Awaken picks up shortly after Forsaken ends and I was pulled right back in from the opening lines. Day knows how to keep us hooked and I read this book in less than a day. I couldn't put it down. I found myself completely wrapped up in Stasia's story once again and the end came entirely too soon for my liking. Of course, along the way, my husband thought I'd lost my mind since I was randomly laughing out loud, gasping, and crying; sometimes all at once. I was an emotional wreck by the time I finished it.
Awaken is packed with suspense, romance and a few twists I definitely didn't see coming. I cannot find the words to tell you exactly how much I loved this book. It exceeded my every expectation. Day has created a fantastically quirky cast of characters for us to fall in love with and in doing so she has made it impossible for me to stop reading these books. I cannot wait to see how things wrap up in Chosen, due out in January 2013. (less)

Some of you may remember my review of ReVamped (book 1 in the series). I was worried the sequel might not live up to the first but I really didn't need to. I read the bulk of this book in a day and now I am really just DYING to know what happens next..again. Ada Adams got me again.
ReAwakened picks up shortly after ReVamped leaves off and the action starts right back up at the very beginning. This book was a nonstop thrill ride, I had no idea what could possibly happen next and I loved every moment of it. From beginning to end, this book had me completely enthralled with the characters and their continuing growth as the plot unfolded. I especially enjoyed seeing Dawn, Brooke and Sophie come into their own and reveal more of their true depth to us.
Not only do we learn more about the characters we already know and love *cough* Sebastian *cough*, we also met a few new faces in ReAwakened. My favorite of these new characters, without a shadow of a doubt, is Razor. He is hilarious, witty, charming and unendingly useful. He fills every scene he's in with a brilliant mix of humor, sincerity and sarcasm. I adore him. My very favorite character, though, is Sebastian. He brings new meaning to the term 'swoon-worthy' in my opinion. He's mysterious, charming, sexy, handsome, intelligent, capable and so many other wonderful things. I could just go on and on..but you get the idea.
This book had it all; intrigue, action, romance, twists, humor and paranormal elements. Reading it was like being on a roller coaster ride. My emotions ran the gamut; I laughed, cried, sighed, gasped and even yelled at a few points in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed it even though the ending made me want to scream (and I did). Ms Adams has accomplished what I thought to be impossible; this book is even better than it's predecessor. (less)

Starting out in LA, Farley and company take a detour to Montana to search for their missing friends and then come full circle, landing back in LA. This installment is just as addictive as the first.
The conflict from Sovereign Hope has morphed and splintered into several new and even more complicated troubles. Everyone Farley knows is weighted down with some burden, whether it's personal or it affects everyone. We see how Farley and Daniel are handling these new crises; it's a tight rope walk of suspense and anxiety. I literally had NO fingernails left by the time I finished this book.
Gripping and emotionally charged, this tale was sometimes terrifying and yet hilarious at other points. Jam packed full of action, suspense and smoldering romance, this novel is extremely well written. The twists will make you gasp out loud and break your heart all while keeping you riveted to the narrative unfolding before you. It is like being on a roller coaster with a blindfold so you can't see the dips and drops coming; there is nothing predictable about this book.
I love these characters. Farley is as impressive as ever, evolving as she tries to adapt to her ever-changing life. Daniel is just as focused on protecting her from anything that could take her away from him. I really enjoyed learning more about Kayden; he's a hugely intriguing character and we find out more about his troubled history with Daniel. Frankie Rose has created these wonderfully real characters who you simply want to know and have around in your life.
I think one of my very favorite things about Farley is she never moans “Why me?” and she doesn't shrink away from her reality, no matter how dicey it gets. She does her best to roll with the changes and she NEVER gives up. We definitely need more heroines like her in the YA universe.
Frankie Rose has crafted a highly addictive series and I cannot wait to get my hands on the final installment in this trilogy. (less)

Everyone I know who had previously read it kept telling me what a powerful story it was, I just never picked it up. When I found it at my local used book store, I grabbed it and finally I can say I know what everyone is talking about.
The story takes place in Syracuse, NY and spans the course of a school year as the main character,14 year-old Melinda tries to recover from an event that turned her world on its side. We don't find out what happened until later in the book and I know that is one of the things that kept me turning the pages. I needed to know what had happened to hurt this poor girl and change her so drastically in the course of a summer.
The story is told from Melinda's perspective and watching her try to survive what her life has become is agonizing. Melinda's narrative will sink its teeth into your heart and it won't let go until the very end. She is sarcastic and hilarious, despite everything. I found myself laughing and fighting back tears at the same time while reading. You cannot help but wordlessly cheer her on as you follow her journey.
Melinda is the focal point of the book, the impetus driving the plot forward and we don't get too in depth with most of the other characters in the book. But I love Mr. Freeman, her art teacher. He is the most supportive and intuitive adult in her life and for that alone you have to like him. He doesn't yell or threaten; he simply provides her with an outlet and a desire to excel at something again. I really think this helps her come back to herself in a way.
This book is important for so many reasons. It deals with issues that are more commonplace than people realize. So many teens and youngsters are dealing with the inability to find their voice after being victimized in some way, shape or form and we need to educate and support them. I know if I have children I will be sitting them down someday to discuss this book. Kudos to Laurie Halse Anderson for helping so many young men and women see that they are not alone.(less)

When approached about being part of this blog tour, I was excited to be part of it. Just from reading the synopsis, I knew I would like this book. I wasn't wrong. It was one of the best books I've read so far this year. I'm going to try hard not to gush, but I'm not making any promises, guys.
Sovereign Hope is a fast-paced, suspenseful thrill ride from beginning to end. It had all the ingredients a great book has; lots of action, some romance, captivating characters, unique plot, lots of humor and heart. It was so well written, you feel like you are in the midst of all the action. It really is the ideal book for me.
The characters are complex and likable; very well developed. Daniel is my new favorite book boy. He is just a phenomenal character. His sarcasm and somewhat cranky demeanor mask a really sweet guy and you can't help but adore him. (Or at least I couldn't.) Where to start with Farley-she is such an amazing character; strong, determined, brave, funny & loyal to those she loves. Her entire world has been flipped upside down but she doesn't lay around and cry about it. She goes after answers! She is determined to find out what happened to her mother and she doesn't dwell on what harm could come to her in the process. That selflessness coupled with her tenacity make her a wonderful character to read about.
The story is told from the points of view of both Farley and Daniel and I loved being able to see the story come to life from both their perspectives. This book is jam-packed full of action and I never saw the twists coming at all. The romance was SO well done, too. Not overly hearts and flowers but realistic to the situation the characters are in. I just loved it!! This is probably the very best book I've read so far this year, I cannot wait for the second book!
If you love paranormal young adult books then this one is definitely for you! A must read in my book! (less)

A new and interesting take on the vampire genre, this book was phenomenal. I read it in one evening.
The story is told from the point of view of our main character, April, a kick-ass girl with a determination to survive and save her family in a world gone crazy. It's a fast-paced thrill ride told with humor and compassion. The plot is really different from your run of the mill vamp books and it grabs your attention from the very start and never lets go. The action is non-stop and helps to ratchet up the suspense.
I really love the characters in this book, and not just our heroine. Rye, one of the 'new' vampires April comes upon while looking for her family is probably my favorite character from the book. He is what every paranormal male lead should be in my opinion; sweet, protective and lethal all at the same time. April is a survivor, without a doubt, but she's also funny and smart. I really love that even though she is able to take care of herself she isn't too proud to take help that's offered to her, even when it comes from someone she believes to be her enemy.
Action, suspense and romance makes this the perfect book for me. I love Purdy's writing style, it had me engrossed from the very first page. This book is a must read for lovers of the vampire genre! (less)
