I read this book only because of constant reminder of these similarities and... where do I even begin?! Let me break it down for you: this is teen soap opera with horrible plastic two-dimensional disrespectful and cruel characters. The story was so poorly written that, at many times, didn't even make any sense. Dialogue was confusing, editing is terrible, characters were immature, especially the adults ones. It was just too much to be believable to me. I'm not sure why this book has received so many positive reviews. I'm upset that people find this book to be romantic or sexy. It´s like we haven´t read the same book?! It was painful to read this. I wanted to punch Sam in the eye, or punch myself for reading this! I don't really care if Erin Watt ripped off this story, she did it ten times better. ...more

It shows two extremes in parental behaviour and beliefs and the consequences resulting in a catastrophy waiting to happen. It's realistic and very different from any book about teens I have ever read. It ripped feeling from me. I had to keep remembering that the characters are so young. It's sad and bitter sweet and heart wrenching and stomach dropping loving and harsh.
The story is captivating and intense and painful and passionate. If you want happy rainbow romance and are bothered by the realities of life and growing up, than skip this novel, it won't be good for you. Just continue to hide and pretend. This novel is a dark YA contemporary coming of age romance novel. I can say you won't regret reading it....more

Unexpected things are those that change our lifes, and if I had to choose one word to describe this book it would be UNEXPECTED.
Books that are out of the ordinary have their own special appeal and this book I consider the unusual, the bizarre, and the new.
Firstly I hated the main female character , pretentious Layana. She was so much like Olivia from The Opportunistor Amy in second part of book Gone Girl. She is rich and spoiled, rotten cheater and you tell me, what a female character is allowed to get away with behaviour that? Well, this girl can get away with this! Why? I don´t want to tell you because i want that you all read this book. She is a main female characters who exhibits great resilience and courage. And I loved it!
Brant? Brant Sharp is a self-made billionaire, a true genius, and major philanthropist that just also happens to be gorgeous. A classical too good to be true male character. And...he has a big dark secret. And there comes Lee, our tortured hero. And then we have one wicked aunt/bitch Jilian.
Secrets, cheating and love triangle. You think you heard it all. Boy you are so wrong!
Alexandra Torre is obviously an evil genius when it comes to dropping small hints that aren’t really hints and making you HOPE for things you shouldn’t hope for. She is an excellent author. My point is that Black Lies is a total masterpiece. You think you know, but you have no idea until you read it.

Who could ask for anything more?! Damn you Lily! You simply blown me away! You made me like a monster who had a gentle side and than you ripped my heart out and made him even worse than evil. This is a dark and thrilling ride and that you want to take. One of the rare cases when book number two is better than first book in the series. I recommend this book to everyone who loves an unique, dark, twisted, sexy and disturbing book with anti-heroes!
Well, well, well...What have I just read? I butterflying love my girl Glass who recommended this book to me and I love Collleen Hoover and I love this book and Ridge and Warren and everything in between...
"I just punched a girl in the face. Not just any girl. My best friend. My roommate"
I generaly don´t like the books about cheating, but this book was something different. This book is beautiful representation of love, devotion and loyalty and all the pitfalls that can happen in your life. Colleen Hoover has such a unique writing style and I absolutely love reading her stories. They include romance and humor and some very quirky characters! The secondary characters were equally as complex and amazing. Each of them brought something special to this book. What makes Maybe Someday especially special and different is the soundtrack that goes along with it. Being able to listen to Griffin Peterson sing the amazing songs that go with the story brought the characters and the story to life.
This book ruined all other books for me. It shattered my heart into pieces and then filled it up so much I felt like it was going to burst. I had such an emotional reaction to this book that I couldn´t start another one until I worked through the emotions this book brought out in me.
This is one that is on the MUST read shelf for anyone who wants to giggle, snort, cry and grin the silliest of grins for a long time after finishing the book.
“There are only twenty-six letters in the English alphabet. You would think there would only be so much you could do with twenty-six letters. You would think there were only so many ways those letters could make you feel when mixed up and shoved together to make words. However, there are infinite ways those twenty-six letters can make a person feel, and this song is living proof. I’ll never understand how a few simple words strung together can change a person, but this song, these words, are completely changing me. I feel like my maybe someday just became my right now.”
Colleen has somehow used these 26 letters to make me live, breathe, and truly feel the emotions in this story and I´m thankful her for that.

Sometimes you´re speeding through it, missing the signs and by the time you reach the end of it you have thoughts, recollections, and moments where you realize you haven´t really lived.
And that´s the thing about life. It goes way too fast. At least mine did..."
I waited so long to read this book and I have to admit that it was worth every minute of waiting. When I saw the cover first time, I thought it would be just another romantic happy ending. Boy, I was wrong...
Imagine modern Romeo and Juliet. Imagine what would happen if Romeo and Juliet were set in 1950s in America. Than put Juliet in Psych ward and see what will happen...
I can´t summarize the amazing experience I have had while reading this book. This series is one of my all-time favorites!
This time I don´t won´t to write long review with many reasons why you should read this book/series. Please my friends, trust me on this one and just read it.

Too much shallow and lame drama. It's like a soap opera! With all the incest, deaths, and "insta-romance". I enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to read "Petals On the Wind", but it just wasn´t my cup of tea. Cathy is simply horrible selfish woman! The plot was bad and it just got annoying how Cathy kept going on and on and on about the past and her mother. I found annoying how every single man that Cathy came in contact with fell instantly in love with her: her brother Chris, Paul, Julian, Bart... Puh-lease!!! Really....this girl can't keep her legs closed?! I got tired of hearing about how beautiful she was :
"I was at that age where I would walk down the street and men would almost get into accidents as they stared at me through their car windows because I was THAT gorgeous".
I'm actually appalled at how highly rated this sequel is. If you've read the first one, stop there. Don't ruin the experience....more

You know it will make you sad and leave you heartbroken, but you can´t stop even if it hurts. We, masochistic readers, we know it, we understand it... and still, we do it. All we can do is suffer the pain, and tell ourselves it was well worth it. Sad things can be beautiful. That´s exactly what Autumn said and noone understood her. Well, Autumn and Ms Nowlin, we understand you and we appreciate the pain. It was well worth it...
Well, there was one weird girl...
...and she fell in love with her best friend but she didn't notice him like that.
...And than there was one big misunderstanding and they grew apart. They grew apart for four long years even though they saw each other on a daily basis.
“I've loved him my whole life, and somewhere along the way, that love didn't change but grew. It grew to fill the parts of me that I did not have when I was a child. It grew with every new longing of my body and desire until there was not a piece of me that did not love him. And when I look at him, there is no other feeling in me.”
...And just when life finally brought them together, this star-crossed lovers were separated by cruel fate.
I can see some of the roses still blooming in my mother´s garden. Brown on the edges and bright in other colors, their petals drooping downward, dying just as their lives have begun. They stayed past their time, and I´ve realized that I have too.
Do you want to know how they were separated? Just read this book! I promise you, you won't regret it! ...more

Few misguided GR friends told me to read this because they knew how much I liked Forbidden from Tabitha Suzuma. Boy...was this wrong.
Let me get this straight: I love to read taboo stories. I even like taboo erotica. Really there is very little out there that can shock me. Really!
I'm feeling bad right now because I hate to give bad reviews. I can say that I liked the author's writing and once I began reading this book I couldn't stop, but all the drama and the plot felt over the top, I couldn't connect with the characters and I think there's enough violence and tragedy in the world for me to read a book that made me cringe. And not because it is about incest. No. Because it doesn´t make sense.
I felt absolutely nothing for these characters. Siblings, Lily and Donovan... I have no idea who I disliked more. They lived all their lives like perfect siblings and next moment they want to get in each others pants. Lily is pathetic and Dovovan has some serious issues. For some reason, I did not feel sorry for them, and when it ended, I had no book hangover. Christopher, scrawny English boy is only character that is easygoing and fun-loving in this book, and even he made my eyes roll a few times. And loving/Nazi mother doesn´t even make sense.
The theme is interesting, but some of the dialogue was weird or flat-out dull. The flip flopping, wish-washy thoughts and feelings of the characters, mainly of Lily- "I love Christopher/Donovan, oh but am I in love with him," was just ridiculous. I think the author tried to do too many things with this story and the execution was lacking.
All in all, I can’t say I really recommend Love´s Forbidden Flower. On the other hand, it was a novel that kept me entertained and captivated, but the overall impression it left with me was one of disappointment.
Sorry, Ms. Rinella, but if I'm going to dive head first into dysfunction, I'll stick with Tabitha Suzuma's stories.
My favorite quote: "Today, somewhere among the roses and petunias, my sanity squirted out of my brain and fertilized the backyard."
"Crazy people lighting cars on fire, all the cars, until whole streets seem to be lined with signal fires. Fires to light the path. ThImagine this...
"Crazy people lighting cars on fire, all the cars, until whole streets seem to be lined with signal fires. Fires to light the path. The sick putting out their dead. Mass graves. People killing other people with guns and knives. Looting. Beatings. People jumping from tenth-floor windows. Then, the empty city. Day. Night. Empty."
After the "dying", most of the world is wiped out. There are only few survivors (they think so), and they are living in military base. And then comes beautiful Eva...
Eva. She's not the first woman. She is The Last (well, they thing she is). She ate an apple and it brought her lots of trouble. Not with God, but with all mighty Major Smith and his 17 men. All mighty Major decided to give her her first husband for next six months and all the rest will have the pleasure to watch their sexual activites. Her partner's name was't Adam. He was John, Avery, Jason, James, Jake... She was very wicked and wise woman and she had a plan... This selfless women with a heart of gold will bring the peace in this little society with sex. Loads and loads of sex. I know how this sounds. Like a first class porn. But belive me, it's not. She has a high purpuse and it works psychologically by using the sexual therapy. At the end, which is not happy at all, she finds love, happiness and forgiveness in this harsh new world.
23 years after Eva we will meet Eva's children, Cain and Abel Gareth and Nadia.
This second part of book, two decades after the "dying" from deadly virus, the rest of the survived world is fallen apart.
"It's like societies just menage to check the brutality of human nature, but as soon as there's a tear in the fabric, fear, hate, horrible violence come spilling out"
Nix is a second heroine we meet in this book. She is a fighter in the man's world. With only few survivors where men outnumber women ten-to-one, where woman is property and is nothing better than a object which gives a birth, she is trying to save as many females from this harsh world as possible. After all abusing and killing in her life, she doesn't belive in love, and then she meets Gareth, bad boy with golden heart in this cruel world . They are finding the road from victim to freedom and hope of healing from sexual abuse (she as a victim, and he as a abuser), and at the end, they found all this in love.
This futuristic horror is like nothing i've ever read! Its dark and disturbing, sad and hot as hell, horrible and beautiful. It shows us fear of worst kind and monsters, but it shows us and the other side- humanity, sacrifice and kindness. There is no happily ever after in this book and don't expect it. Overall, great writing, a wonderful plot, hot scenes, deep and twisty character psychology. I highly recommend it to everyone! This book is one that will stay with you forever....more
