It started when she received a leather-bound copy of Othello for her twelfth birthday and ended when her English teacher showed her exactly what was meant by the beast with two backs."
I don't have any idea on how to rate this book. I don´t even know what to think about it! That´s how confused I am right now. This book is too toxic, too dark, too twisted, too shocking, too depresing...simply too fucked-up. It´s definitely too much for me.
I hated main characters. They are almost despicable! Sarah Clark, as a 14 year old child, was a victim of abuse by her 24 years older English teacher and she liked it (because of a lack of parental warmth). Later, she had a sick sexual affair with him until he left her because of his family. As sweet sixteen she was raped and her family turned their backs to her. Her only "safe harbour" was her BFF Jamie, and she ruined him too... As a young woman (21) she is beautiful and smart, but she is also self-destructive sex-addict, she´s sad, broken and miserable... Mr Daniel Carr, her English teacher, is a manipulating, cruel, psyhotic bastard and sadistic pedophile... In my opinion, there is NO excuse for a man in Mr Carr´s position taking advantage of a girl who thinks she´s more grown up than she is. A teacher having sex with an under-age student is wrong in all kinds of ways, and nothing makes it right.
Who is The Beast in this book? They both are. And the beast could not be tamed...
Should you read this book? Frankly, I don´t know...
P.S. I'm surprised that noone of the characters in this book contracted STDs.(less)

When I started reading it I thought this would be my next The Sea of Tranquility. I really wanted to fall in love with this book just like so many of my friends did. Unfortunately, I'm sad to say that I was a little disappointed. I'm not saying that this book was bad, because it wasn't. It was nicely written, had a nice pace and charming characters (especially Micha), but there was a certain lack of energy to it. This book didn't blow me away, but it held my interest long enough to finish it.(less)
RECIPE: 1 cup of Stockholm Syndrome 1 innocent girl who was sexually abused as a child 1 sadistic truck driver/priest with troubled past 1 overly protective psiho/schizophrenic mother 1 truck and miles and miles of dirty road 1 dream of Niagara Falls Add the cruel reality and few cups of bad and selfish people. Blend it all together and read it for about 3-4 hours and you´ll get this awesomeness.
Wanderlust is the dark, frightening story of a naive young woman, kidnapped and held against her will by damaged man who seeks revenge to society. This is a story of survival. It describes two people that have managed to survive injustice and sexual abuse and they still maintained their humanity and a will to escape their circumstances. They are both fighters and they still have a capacity for feeling and emotion, perhaps even love. They still have hope in a better tomorrow.
This book scared me. It´s threatening, challenging and controversial. I loved Wanderlust because there was something so hauntingly beautiful about this book that captured my attention from the first chapter. I especially liked quotes in the beginning of each chapter from Evie´s book about Niagara Falls.
Ms Skye Warren deserves an applause, so I clap for her!
This definitely will not be the last book I will read of Skye Warren.
Warning: This book is not for the faint-hearted readers. If you are not 18 or above or if you simply cannot take tear-jerking books, do not read it.(less)

This book was really good, but...also a little predictable and similar to Noelle´s story, maybe a bit cheesy, but very funy and worthwhile. I honestly had fun reading Beyond Control, but I can´t wait for Ace´s book. He´s my favorite guy in this series.(less)
