My brain has never been able to fully process the concept. I have too many unanswered questions that can't ever really be answered. That's the thing, though, isn't it? Time travel is ambiguous. It's not really one thing or another. There are too many variables that need to be considered. I've been told that I over complicate things and that's why I get so muddled. But to think that time travel is uncomplicated doesn't make any sense. For it has to be complicated. We can't just go around bending time and shooting forwards or backwards without disrupting some sort of balance. Once you change one thing, then it's like dominoes and everything MUST change.
But that discussion is for another time. The Time Traveler's Wife was a book that has always been on my list of books to read even before the movie came out. When I asked for a list of good fantasy/sci-fi books it was this book that kept resurfacing ever since it was published. It didn't really get on my high priority radar until the movie came out. I was interested in seeing it but I make it a plan to never see the movie before I read the book. Just because the book is almost always better than the movie and I'd hate to see the movie and have it ruin the book for me.
It's apparently obvious from the first opening words that Audrey Niffenegger is a talented writer who is able to draw the reader in and immerse them within the pages of her book. Can you even imagine it? Meeting your future husband when you are 6 years old. Having him meet you for the first time when he's 28. It is one of the sweetest love stories I have ever read. And one of the most heartbreaking stories as well. Not many books can bring out those gutwrenching emotions but this one absolutely did. It is a touching and poignant love story that will stay with me forever. This is a beautiful book that really gives that message about love transcending through time and forever. It is the stuff of fairytales and yet, yet, somehow Audrey Niffenegger gives us hope that somewhere out there a love like that really does exist and maybe it is attainable. Love has no boundaries. Death cannot stop love. And certainly not ink on paper because Henry and Clare's story is one that will live in my heart forever....more

I love all of the brothers and the way they talk smack to each other. I like all of the side stories and how we know each of them has their own problems and we are endeared to each of them for different reasons. I knew from when I read this that Zsadist was going to be my favourite brother but there is so much to love about this series that I know I'll continue to re-read the books in this series throughout the years....more
