While she is indeed a lady filled with charity and compassion, she is also a woman with an urgent need to curtail her appetite for sumptuous holiday treats that attack her ever expanding waistline. With a corset designed to rob her of her ability to breathe and her quest to find a "knight on a white horse" to wed, it is imperative that she look her best.
Acclaimed Shakespearean actor, Sir Wesley Darcy is not having a good start to his holiday. Enduring a robbery attempt, an overturned carriage, and a painful shoulder injury, Wesley now finds himself in a hospital on Christmas Eve being treated by a woman who makes it more than clear that she finds him to be quite the cad. Sensing the passion underneath her innocent exterior, Wesley is beyond pleased to find that his enticing nurse will also be spending the holidays at Rougemont. Despite their innocuous beginnings, he intends to win Mary's heart and show her the adventures that have been sorely lacking in her life.
Moriah Densley has fast become one of my favorite new authors. Her stories are very reminiscent of the great Johanna Lindsay's Mallory series and Catherine Coulter's Brides series. Her characters are fun and immeasurably likable. Historically factual, Moriah's books fly by so quickly, I am always shocked and sad when they end for too quickly. I love the fact that characters from her precious stories are revisited, and in this short but wonderfully fulfilling book that the entire Cavendish clan makes an appearance. Mary is a wonderful heroine. She has her share of insecurities, but puts on a brave front that sometimes comes across as being a bit staid to her family. The dashing Wesley sees past this and is instantly captivated by her curves and sharp wit. They were absolutely perfect together. This is a sweet, lighthearted, romantic and beautifully written tale that is sure to bring a smile to even the most sour of Scrooges this holiday season. ...more

He was my kind of vamp, a complete and total badass. Personally I would read books about him all day long. This is a prequel to Haven, an UF series centered around vampire royalty and halfbreed Carina Tranquilli. We got a glimpse of her story, but Jonas is the star in this tale. He is absolutely dedicated to her safety and happiness and will move Heaven and Earth to make sure she has the epitome of both. Warning- Jonas doesn't mind the wet work, although he does use a clean up crew. Please Ms. Breslin, I beg of you, I would just love more of Jonas....more

Bucking family traditionJade Clarence was born into a family of exorcists who believe the only good lingering spirit is a destroyed lingering spirit. Bucking family tradition, Jade believes that some spirits are not inherently evil and is trying to discover a way to help the spirit move on rather than painfully destroy the lost souls.
Dutch Hutchinson has been trapped on the mortal plain since his tragic death over a hundred years ago. Tired of his lonely existence he uses his energy to contact the Clarence family to perform an exorcism, leaving out some very important details. Meeting Jade may just give Dutch a chance to hang around.
I'm going to lay some honesty on you right now. I agreed to review several books in order to receive the newest release of another author. Smack me hard and call me dumb ass. This little short story stole the show big time. Sarah Gilman just blew me away in less than a hundred pages. I fell right into Dutch's predicament and was emotionally invested by the end of the first chapter. I flew through this story in record time and reread it the next day just to make sure it was as good as I had originally thought. It absolutely was. The characters were extremely engaging and well developed. The story was fraught with deep emotion, light humor and enough spice to keep it on the hot scale. There is of course a quasi-villain in the mix and a dilemma to overcome. Think all this couldn't possibly be covered in seventy pages? Give it a read and find out. ...more

Rose returns Skryker’s love but her Angel heritage has placed restraints on returning Skryker’s devotion. She is often filled with divine guilt over her love for the demon, and Skryker is well aware that deep in her heart, Rose feels he is less than worthy, as much as she may say otherwise. As a gift for his thirtieth birthday, Rose is going to offer Skryker her complete submission in an effort to erase the pain she so inadvertently inflicts on his heart.
If you have not become part of the Skryker fan club, you will miss out on the deeper subtext of this book. It will read as an extremely well written, graphically hard core story about a paranormal three day BDSM encounter. That in itself is enough for some readers, but without the backstory, the reader misses the sheer brilliance and enormity of Rose's gift to Skryker. I have long been a critic of Rose for shortselling my boy, Skryker. For all his tough exterior, he is a squishy teddy bear at heart, and when he is hurt, it is deep and profound. For those of you who have followed my reviews for any length of time, you know I am NOT a fan of female submissiveness as a rule. Nor am I, as a rule, a fan of hard core BDSM. You know what they say about rules, the proof is in the exception...... and Demon's Slave is the exception. Even though I understood why Rose felt the way she did, I still resented her on behalf of Skryker. His devotion was unswerving and eternal, but it was also eating away at his soul. I couldn't fathom a way to balance the scales. (and I sooo am about balance) That is why I am not an author. This perfect remedy would never have occurred to me, and I would have just lingered in literary angst.
Skryker is well aware that Rose is physically stronger, that she is descended from divine blessings and he can never attain her status. He is descended from the depths of Hell, flotsum for the Host to spurn and torment. By allowing Skryker to exorcise his "demons" and giving him complete and utter mastery over her person, she is in essence showing Skryker his true worth in her eyes. This book is a VERY graphic portrayal of BDSM. It is sometimes hard to take, it is also one of the most beautiful and emotional books you will ever read....more

Her new lover Mark has asked for complete control in their sexual relationship and Summer is finding that in handing over her control, her pleasure is increased beyond her wildest fantasies.
Summer's Journey is a delightfully sexy first person narrative of a strong professional woman taking charge of her own sexuality by giving complete control to her lover. The journey is broken up into eminently tasty little short stories. Believe me, I don't think you could take the whole journey at once without sitting in a tub filled with ice. Tastefully but graphically detailed, each story is another step in a long adventurous journey to become the sexual diva nature intended her to be. Mark, Summer's new lover. plans and dictates each assignation. He tells Summer they are going to do a sexual alphabet, a new letter for each meeting. I'll just let your imaginations run rampant from there. For fans familiar with the first story, expect the heat level to jump to supernova in this book. For readers who are leery of BDSM (as I am myself) this is a very light view. For those of you who haven't yet had the pleasure, or just had a niggling little thought about what it might be like to take a walk on the wild side, this would be a perfect starting point that offers a ringside seat....more

Landing a job as a waitress at a high end sex club, she finds herself torn between the two owners Remy and Phillipe. When she discovers the duo are longtime lovers, she writes off both men as a lost cause. As a dragon shifter Remy recognizes Lilly as he and Phillipe’s mate, but gaining her acceptance is going to be a tricky maneuver and require all his skills as a lover and a dragon.
Seraphina Donavan dropped some sexy on the world when she wrote this book. One of the problems I have had in the past with m/m/f or just m/m books is that one of the men always comes off as just a tad bit feminine and no offense , but eeeewwwwww. There is NOTHING attractive or intriguing about an effeminate male. They make great friends but as far as anything sexual goes...no. Dragon’s Lair has two very studly and uber masculine heroes in Remy and Phillipe with both being dominant at times. The masculinity is very evident both in actions and umm their physicality. Lilly is a lucky, lucky girl. But this is utterly new to her and she is already shocked by what she has seen at the club, so to think about participating in such things is just too much for Lilly. Things she saves for late at night in her darkest fantasies. When Lilly finally breaks the chains of her inhibitions.... wow! This book is just a terrific quick little nibble guaranteed to fire up your body thermostat. You might need to turn on the air conditioning. I sure did....more

She didn’t have the experience necessary to write a believably hot sex scene. Oh. she’d had sex, just not “scream the paint off the walls” really good sex. She needed to do some hands on research, and who better than her neighbor, Jax. Jax had made it more than clear he was interested, and she probably would have considered his suit if he wasn’t broke and struggling to make ends meet all the time.
Oh, Jax… Faint heart never won fair maiden, and empty wallet wasn’t dropping Amber’s panties. (not for the long run, anyway) Luckily, my boy did have skills in a different area. The *ahem* female physiology area. I liked Jax, he was a sweetie, just not loaded down with ambition. For a woman with goals, ambitions are a must in a potential mate. I’m not even talking mucho dinero here, just a plan, and that doesn’t even have to be carved in stone, it could be a nebulous idea, but it has to be some form of path for the future. Jax was content to just bounce along, until Amber.
This was an uber-sexy quick read that made me smile, then pant, then laugh, then pant some more, and finally go awwwww. Amber was my kind of woman. She was smart, liked dogs, had her head on straight about her priorities, and when she ran into obstacles, she conquered them. In other words, she was a grown up. She wasn’t squeamish about what she wanted or expected. Yay!! She could also put her foot down like nobody’s business. Jax might still have the shoe print on his butt. She wasn’t hardhearted though, she was just focused. She realized it doesn’t have to be this or that, if you compromise and talk things through you can have it all. Kudos on a job well done....more

Her 15 year old brother was ruining his future by cutting school and hanging with a dangerous crowd. Not seeing any other option, Lily gives up her life in Macon, and heads back to Petal to take control of the situation. It’s not all bad though, her BFF, Beth Murphy, lives in town. Lily has missed their closeness and could certainly use a friend right now. Unfortunately Nathan Murphy, Beth’s brother and Lily’s first love, also lives in town. He’s also her brother’s English teacher. He broke her heart once and it took her years to get over the devastation. She’s a much wiser woman now, and there is no way he’ll ever have the opportunity to hurt her again.
Lauren Dane is one of the rare authors that can coax me into reading straight up contemporary romance. Her books are such enjoyable reads that I have finished the book before I even realize that I'm into it. Her heroines are always strong, intelligent sassy women, and her heroes are always alphas who appreciate their women's strengths. The heat factor in Lauren's books is always off the charts, which doesn't hurt my feelings at all. In this story, we are reunited with the hunky Chase boys, and the Murphy clan, who have all intermingled now. We also get to watch Lily's hero, Nathan, grovel and pursue his woman in the finest of Southern traditions. Even though this is a relatively short story, it packs a mighty wallop and was great fun to read. It runs the gamut from heartbreaking to heartpounding in a masterful fashion. If you're looking for a quick escape, this is very high on my recommendation list. You won't be disappointed....more

Drew swears he meant to call and he wants another chance and fate does seem to be throwing them together. Her brain is telling her to walk away and save herself from more hurt, but her mouth can’t really form the words when it's too busy doing much more enjoyable things.
Hot Bods is a spot on name for this series because this is one sizzling little story. This is not for the faint of heart or pure of virtue. Skylar and Drew make monkeys on Viagra look puritanical. I liked Skylar, she was a realist who went after what she wanted unapologetically. She also knew when to exercise caution, she just didn't always act on it. Drew wasn't a bad guy, he was just not the best communicator and maybe a little bit of a ... hmmm, what's the word I'm looking for.... douche... no, he wasn't THAT bad, ... he was just a MAN... yeah, that's the word. I could really have stood to see him crawl, beg, suffer (take your pick) just a little bit more. But then, I am mean like that. Luckily for him Skylar wasn't and she did get a small bit of her own back. Lacey Wolfe can really bring her characters to life, which is one of the reasons I can get so annoyed when one does something irritating. Skylar and Drew both had a lot of depth for such a short story and that takes some major talent. Ms. Wolfe also has quite the hand at turning an erotic phrase and these were found in abundance. I was quite pleased with the end result of this spicy tale and now am left to wonder who's next. Maybe Skylar's baking roommate? Just not with the cat guy. ...more

Very well written, with a kick ass heroine that I whole heartedly approved of. Angela was fearless, loyal and not afraid to throw hands with the big boys. She was also intelligent enough to stop and weigh her options and not wade in recklessly, unless that was the only way. Knox was a superb example of what an Alpha should be. Dominant, compassionate when the occasion called for it and ruthless when he needed to be. He was also not afraid to follow his heart. *sigh* There is also a great little story connecting all the sexy hotness, with enough action and drama to keep you on the edge of your seat for the short time it takes to gobble this little gem up. I could definitely see myself quickly becoming addicted to this group of shifters. I will certainly be a die hard fan of Katie’s from now on. Good job! ...more

Mackenzie is hustling down the street with her arms loaded with groceries when she is literally knocked off her feet by a gorgeous stranger. Feeling an instant connection, Mackenzie agrees to have coffee with the man. Acting completely out of character, she has a wonderful night filled with passion with a man she just met. Is it surprising that his has disappeared without a trace the next morning?
I bought this book with no expectations, but thought the blurb presented an interesting situation. I am extremely happy to report that it was money well spent. I instantly fell for Drew (he was a tall blonde, my weakness). He hated his situation but had given up hope of ever gaining his freedom. Of course this pulled at my heart strings since his predicament was the result of love. *sigh* Mackenzie was a suitable heroine. She was strong, with hidden secrets that lead to her being a major reason people should give this book a read. There are a couple of big surprises and some really promising secondary characters. There is also just enough steamy sex to qualify Soul Broker as an erotic romance. It would not have hurt my feelings for this to have been a full length novel and hopefully this will be the beginning of a series. Lucas Brown understands how the Revenant team might not be on board with his presence for the next hunt, but he has an obligation to present the facts to his readers. He will come in with an open mind and no preconceived notions. He will however be watching very closely for any tricks or deceptive practices. Arabella will just have to deal with it.
I was kind of like Lucas when starting this book. I went in with an open mind, but on alert for anything that was going to set off my "pfffft" radar. It never sent out a loud alarm, in fact the story read very smoothly, My only complaint is that Lucas' POV was never presented. I know it would have been a tight fit since Ghost of Kingston Cottage is under a hundred pages, but still, I like to have the male's perspective. The actual writing was spot on, building anticipation of will they or won't they. To me however, the actual star of the story was the plight of Seamus and Katie, the lingering spirits of two tragically deceased souls. Their story squeezed my heart and made my eyes a bit misty. Their love was eternal, but neither could move on until they connected on the mortal realm. Simply heartbreaking. Lucas and Arabella's story was more of a side note for me, it added an extra spice and gave a feeling of being more connected to the real world. Their relationship progressed at a rapid rate, kind of a love at first sight occurrence. I am a believer of this phenomenon, so I totally bought in to this plot line. Everything considered, I recommend this book. It will more than fill the bill for those looking for a compelling but short love story with a strong paranormal thread....more

Artemis had some insecurity issues and kills Orion right before they are to be married in a fit of misplaced jealousy. Enraged, Zeus with the aid a sympathetic Aphrodite, sets about teaching his impulsive daughter a few life lessons about character. Destined to seek Orion on the mortal plane, both are recovering memories and rushing towards the future that should have been theirs.
Knowing the backstory and being more familiar with Artemis and Orion, this book was a joy to read. This lesson dealt with the jealousy issue and also with the recovered memory of how Orion died. Orion is the epitome of a romantic hero (except for the whole hunting thing) gorgeous, strong, ethical and loyal. Artemis however needs the lessons she is so harshly learning. In this incarnation, Artemis is a witch known as Sara, who along with her beautiful sister Meg is attempting to concoct a potion to keep her village safe from werewolves (which Artemis created). Orion is a hunter who has found a way to kill the monsters.
The reader can see the growth in Artemis, making her a much more likable character. I am much more invested in the story of these lovers after this book. I flew through this short story in less than an hour and was asking myself " where's the next book?". This book answers several questions and furthers the story exponentially. The shifters play a major part and though I sympathize with their plight, they are not nice. This serial is turning out to be a jewel of a find....more

If you are familiar with Greek mythology, you know that Artemis killed Orion in a fit of rage when she thought Orion was unfaithful. We as readers are now treated to the journey and challenges that Artemis must overcome to find Orion on the mortal realm where he is destined to live and die as a human until the cycle is broken.
This short story presented challenges for myself as an animal rights activist and as a reviewer. Artemis is goddess of the hunt. Hmmmm, challenge #1. She just loved killing things, even her own creations that she imbued with supreme beauty and intelligence. I did overcome this challenge because it was her inherent nature. She did not choose these desires, they were actually who she was. I also weighed this against the fact that she does receive a form of comeuppance. I also was swayed by the superior writing and story weaving of Kelli Lockheart. I kid you not, it took some major chops to make me leave my long held bias behind.
Challenge #2 - Orion is a tad bit uncommunicative. A lot of turmoil could have been avoided if he had just spoke up. Alas, in this time period, men could be lunkheads at times. In addition, Orion was the wronged party in this tale. He doesn't know his past, so he just thinks Artemis is a sexy wench. Personally, I kind of wanted him to remember and exact an appropriate revenge. He does get his pound of flesh though, even if it isn't intended. The story runs hot and steamy without beating the reader over the head with the erotic content. I did enjoy this tiny tale and will soon be reading the next installment. I definitely think it is worth the time....more

He has been sent by his alpha to plead his case to Tatiana/Artemis, who is the only shifter able to naturally conceive. Known as the Unul Pur, Tatiana has her choice from all the shifter elite males who are desperate to fill their ranks. Zeus and Aphrodite need to stop the proliferation of shifters because it is lessening their god powers. Unfortunately their powers are no longer strong enough to bring Artemis back to her true god form. Thus the saga continues.
It is complete irony to find Orion as the beta. He is such an alpha male, that this twist really caught my attention. It was actually a very nice surprise as it gave a depth to this installment that ensured the reader never gets complacent. Also. the element of both characters knowing that they were something "more" and merely borrowing their bodies, was a refreshing addition. Orion is put to the real test in this book. Can he let another shifter impregnate his true love? Can he break the bond with his alpha, Buru, to claim his eternal mate? These questions made me rush to the end.
Even though Artemis is aware that Orion is somewhere out there in this time, she still fulfills her shifter duty by choosing a partner and bearing children. This time she is being particularly picky. When she discovers her warrior is a beta, she has developed the ability to sacrifice her wants and desires for Orion's safety. Artemis has definitely evolved into a much better heroine. The backstory of the Gods of Olympus is growing heated and desperate. All in all, I am enjoying the gradual fleshing out of the story and I am soooo ready for the next book....more

She is an average woman, not a porn star wannabe, not cover model gorgeous, or someone who thought they were overly adventurous. This is the start of her journey to erotic self awareness. I will be totally honest about reviewing this book. I ventured forth with a lot of trepidation. This was a “new 2 me” author, and a self published one at that. I have had some less than pleasant experiences going down that road. The story is also in first person, which for me is especially uncomfortable when reading erotica. This was certainly a welcome surprise. This was absolutely one of the most beautifully written and tasteful pieces of erotic literature I have gotten my hands on this year. It did not fall into the trap of using graphic language and terminology to cover up lack of imagination or writing skills. Don’t get me wrong, the words aren’t sugar coated or Victorian euphemisms, they are just used appropriately and in the correct amount. In this first volume, we get to know a little about Summer, and her initial contact with Mark. We get to watch the relationship unfold from the very beginning. I still can’t determine if this is fiction or not, and that just adds to the fun and mystique of the book. I was absolutely hooked and invested by the time I finished this book. If you are tired of the same old, same old in women’s erotica, then I definitely recommend this book. It brings a very welcome freshness to a growing genre that desperately needs some new blood. ...more
