I expected it to be one of those quick sexy, funny reads that doesn't take a lot of effort or emotion on my part. You know, your basic cookie cutter erotic romance where the characters are as basically interchangeable as the sexual positions. I could not have been more wrong and I owe Sharon Hamilton a sincere apology for thinking to slide her into a preconceived niche. Bad blogger and shame on me!! I am talking ice water to the face, down your shirt, and any other inflammatory part of your body, hot. I don't know why it is, but nothing will sear my steak faster than well done dirty talk. It doesn't have to be elaborate or even exceedingly kinky, just well done. Smith was a effing CHAMPION! I would have knocked that boy down and rode him like a Derby winner. He has been sent by his alpha to plead his case to Tatiana/Artemis, who is the only shifter able to naturally conceive. Known as the Unul Pur, Tatiana has her choice from all the shifter elite males who are desperate to fill their ranks. Zeus and Aphrodite need to stop the proliferation of shifters because it is lessening their god powers. Unfortunately their powers are no longer strong enough to bring Artemis back to her true god form. Thus the saga continues.
It is complete irony to find Orion as the beta. He is such an alpha male, that this twist really caught my attention. It was actually a very nice surprise as it gave a depth to this installment that ensured the reader never gets complacent. Also. the element of both characters knowing that they were something "more" and merely borrowing their bodies, was a refreshing addition. Orion is put to the real test in this book. Can he let another shifter impregnate his true love? Can he break the bond with his alpha, Buru, to claim his eternal mate? These questions made me rush to the end.
Even though Artemis is aware that Orion is somewhere out there in this time, she still fulfills her shifter duty by choosing a partner and bearing children. This time she is being particularly picky. When she discovers her warrior is a beta, she has developed the ability to sacrifice her wants and desires for Orion's safety. Artemis has definitely evolved into a much better heroine. The backstory of the Gods of Olympus is growing heated and desperate. All in all, I am enjoying the gradual fleshing out of the story and I am soooo ready for the next book....more

If you are familiar with Greek mythology, you know that Artemis killed Orion in a fit of rage when she thought Orion was unfaithful. We as readers are now treated to the journey and challenges that Artemis must overcome to find Orion on the mortal realm where he is destined to live and die as a human until the cycle is broken.
This short story presented challenges for myself as an animal rights activist and as a reviewer. Artemis is goddess of the hunt. Hmmmm, challenge #1. She just loved killing things, even her own creations that she imbued with supreme beauty and intelligence. I did overcome this challenge because it was her inherent nature. She did not choose these desires, they were actually who she was. I also weighed this against the fact that she does receive a form of comeuppance. I also was swayed by the superior writing and story weaving of Kelli Lockheart. I kid you not, it took some major chops to make me leave my long held bias behind.
Challenge #2 - Orion is a tad bit uncommunicative. A lot of turmoil could have been avoided if he had just spoke up. Alas, in this time period, men could be lunkheads at times. In addition, Orion was the wronged party in this tale. He doesn't know his past, so he just thinks Artemis is a sexy wench. Personally, I kind of wanted him to remember and exact an appropriate revenge. He does get his pound of flesh though, even if it isn't intended. The story runs hot and steamy without beating the reader over the head with the erotic content. I did enjoy this tiny tale and will soon be reading the next installment. I definitely think it is worth the time....more

Artemis had some insecurity issues and kills Orion right before they are to be married in a fit of misplaced jealousy. Enraged, Zeus with the aid a sympathetic Aphrodite, sets about teaching his impulsive daughter a few life lessons about character. Destined to seek Orion on the mortal plane, both are recovering memories and rushing towards the future that should have been theirs.
Knowing the backstory and being more familiar with Artemis and Orion, this book was a joy to read. This lesson dealt with the jealousy issue and also with the recovered memory of how Orion died. Orion is the epitome of a romantic hero (except for the whole hunting thing) gorgeous, strong, ethical and loyal. Artemis however needs the lessons she is so harshly learning. In this incarnation, Artemis is a witch known as Sara, who along with her beautiful sister Meg is attempting to concoct a potion to keep her village safe from werewolves (which Artemis created). Orion is a hunter who has found a way to kill the monsters.
The reader can see the growth in Artemis, making her a much more likable character. I am much more invested in the story of these lovers after this book. I flew through this short story in less than an hour and was asking myself " where's the next book?". This book answers several questions and furthers the story exponentially. The shifters play a major part and though I sympathize with their plight, they are not nice. This serial is turning out to be a jewel of a find....more

Mackenzie is hustling down the street with her arms loaded with groceries when she is literally knocked off her feet by a gorgeous stranger. Feeling an instant connection, Mackenzie agrees to have coffee with the man. Acting completely out of character, she has a wonderful night filled with passion with a man she just met. Is it surprising that his has disappeared without a trace the next morning?
I bought this book with no expectations, but thought the blurb presented an interesting situation. I am extremely happy to report that it was money well spent. I instantly fell for Drew (he was a tall blonde, my weakness). He hated his situation but had given up hope of ever gaining his freedom. Of course this pulled at my heart strings since his predicament was the result of love. *sigh* Mackenzie was a suitable heroine. She was strong, with hidden secrets that lead to her being a major reason people should give this book a read. There are a couple of big surprises and some really promising secondary characters. There is also just enough steamy sex to qualify Soul Broker as an erotic romance. It would not have hurt my feelings for this to have been a full length novel and hopefully this will be the beginning of a series. Tina Pollick has elevated herself to an author that I will keep an eye on. Job well done,Tina, job well done....more

First Exposure by Elisabeth Naughton
This is the story of Avery Scott, an all American actress, in search of her missing friend/assistant. The PI firm she hires assigns Cade Blackwell to her case. Avery and Cade have a history, a case of first love gone very, very wrong. The trail leads them to a swingers resort in Jamaica. It doesn't take a genius to see where this one goes.
First Exposure set the tone for the rest of the anthology. Hot, hot, hot! Most of the story is set at an adults only resort where ANYTHING goes. I enjoyed this portion of the book. Avery and Cade were believable characters, although I would definitely have made Cade grovel.... A LOT. His overall demeanor in the beginning had me looking for my cast iron skillet. I would have liked to have seen Avery rub her success in Cade's face just a little. My vengeful wishes aside, this was a good example of a sweet story peppered with some very steamy sex.
First Rapture by Alexandra Ivy
Madison Phillips had a teenage crush on Luc Angeli that she made no secret about. On the night Luc finally gives in to Madison's crush, he leaves before the sweat had dried on their satisfied skin. Crushed and heartbroken, Madison has spent the following years dreaming of getting her pound of flesh and now she is ready to collect.
I love a good revenge story and if that story has great sex well all the better. Once again however, The heroine, Madison is not quite as vicious as I would have liked. I mean, if a guy takes your virginity and then says basically "Have a nice life", well, I would have been out for blood, or even better, his prized body parts. Luc is repentant, to a degree. He decides he wants Madison back in his life and then goes about ensuing his desire. Hmmm, too easy. There is also the meddlesome best friend ( I am not a fan of these), who decides Madison doesn't know what's best for herself. Despite these minor glitches, Alexandra Ivy still spins a good tale and provided the reader with a good tale.
First Taste of Darkness by Cynthia Eden
Jess Delaney has recently found out her fiancé was not the faithful soul he should have been. Heartbroken she decides to have a wild night in Vegas. She catches the eye of Blake Landon, a big fish in the Vegas scene. Always fearful of gold diggers, Blake is captivated by Jess's innocence. Jess gets caught in Blake's world of high finance and those who would try to take what Blake has built.
This was an action packed story with great suspense and intrigue. Still managing to be an extremely sexy story, this section of the anthology had a truly enjoyable thread of mystery and as the title states, darkness. Jess was truly a fish out of water in this book. The world in which she finds herself is completely foreign and catches her flat footed. I completely believed the characters and there reactions to their circumstances. I would definitely have bought this book as a stand alone.
First Ink by Laura Wright
Rush Merrick was one of the most sought after tattoo artist in the country. He has a waiting list a mile long and numbers many celebrities among his clients. Addison is the one that broke his young heart in a very public and humiliating way. After years of regretting her actions, Addison shows up at Rush's shop for a tat and maybe forgiveness.
When I first started this book I discovered it was written in first person, and I was all like "No, Laura, No!". Then I discovered it was written from both POV's. This was an awesome surprise. One of the reasons I'm not a fan of first person perspective is not knowing why the other characters react the way they do. Laura dealt with this issue spectacularly. With her signature hotness, Laura spins the story of heartbreak, reunion and redemption with a master's touch. Rush was a totally sympathetic, but droolworthy hero. Addison not so much. Can you tell I'm a heroaphile? Addison does redeem herself in a most public way, which saved her IMHO. Once again, Laura Wright hits it out of the park.
First Surrender by Katie Reus
At 22 years of age, Sierra is head chef at one of the top chefs in Vegas, an amazing achievement for one so young. She has had a major crush on the new head of security , Hayden, almost from the moment they met. Now best friends, neither realizes that they both want to move from he friend zone to the bedroom.
I really liked all the books in this anthology and adore all the writers and their talent, but this was hands down my favorite story. I love a friends to lovers theme. I was totally into Hayden and Sierra's story and was sorry the book was so short, and shock of all shocks, I had not one single complaint about Sierra. First Surrender moves quickly without leaving important details behind. There were great secondary characters and a compelling tale in which the sex was an extra spice and not the entire dish. If I wasn't already a fan of Katie's, this book would have tipped the scales.
First Temptation by Joan Swan
Zoe Brooks is a much respected Border Patrol Supervisor, but she is looking for a change. With a chance to work undercover on the capture of one of the biggest drug and weapons smugglers, she sees her chance. From the moment he laid eyes on the butch female, Taft Walker made no bones about the fact that he didn't believe Zoe had the chops to work this case. He made no effort at diplomacy and told her point blank that she wasn't woman enough to play the femme fatale. Boy, did he have that one wrong.
It has to be obvious by now that I am all about the heroes. That being said..... I would have clocked Taft soon after opening his mouth. He did wind up eating his words, and then decided he wanted to get Zoe in the sack, no strings attached. Zoe handles the situation professionally, and with great aplomb. She is just as blunt with Taft about her " not with her co-workers" policy. Their journey together was sexy, danger filled, and with a great underlying humor. There is a very sexy pole dancing scene that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Zoe was most assuredly all woman. All in all this was a truly enjoyable ending to this anthology.
This is a set of stories that I really, really regret was not in print. I would have paid the extra money in a heartbeat. To have all these amazing authors in one place is beyond the measly amount one would pay. While I did like some tales better than others, it's like comparing diamonds and sapphires, I wouldn't sneeze at either one. These are stories I will read and reread over and over and is a "must have" for lovers of erotic romance. Brava, ladies, brava.

What heEight years ago, Drake Parrish was a rising star at a swanky Wall Street brokerage firm. He had it all, money, power and any woman he wanted. What he didn't have was a moral compass. He was a first class butt munch. Enter the Voodoo priestess who teaches Drake that if your conscience is dead, then the rest of the man should follow, at least part of the time. Now Drake is a recluse and except for his friend Beck, has very minimal outside contact. When you never know when the ol' zombie curse might kick in, better safe than caught out in public with sunken eyes and putrid skin.
Simone Kent is a best selling romance author in a dry spell, both in her career and in her social life. She thinks she's hit the jackpot with Drake. That is until she is thrown into a real life Night of the Living Dead scenario. The question is, will her burgeoning feelings for Drake outweigh the fact that every three days or so, Drake has no heartbeat and looks like a train wreck victim?
This was my very first zombie book. I was amazed at the growing trend of zombies as protagonists and had pretty much avoided the bandwagon. Then I happened to stumble across a blurb for Dead Sexy and thought "Hmmm, sounds interesting". Then I read an excerpt, then a snippet, and before long I was a Drake stalker. I had already claimed Drake as my new BBF before I even started the book. Man, oh man! The hype for this book was right on the money. Sometimes in an erotic romance, you get a lot of graphic sex with very little or no story, minimal character development and it has a tendency to leave me "meh". In Dead Sexy, there is just enough hot, steamy sex to qualify it as an erotic novel, but what sets it apart is the story. Absofreakinglutely riviting!
Going into the story, I was already protective of Drake. Despite his misspent days as a jerk, he was still an incredibly sympathetic hero. I was on the look out for Simone to screw up. She turned out to be a stand up kind of heroine and in the end a very open minded woman. Even though she did find it necessary to ask Drake if he ate brains. (I found this to be a very prudent question.) Then there is Drake's one and only friend, Beck. Now that Drake has his HEA, I may just have to turn my romantic radar in his direction. He was just so cool and laid back about everything. I just know there is a mountain of passion under that calm exterior. Kudos to Paige Tyler for crafting a wonderful book that breaks the mold for smelly, brain eating zombies and made them into something droolworthy and Dead Sexy....more

Scent of Salvation was a quick read that was over before I was ready. I found this to be a very enjoyable book and became quite enamored with the inhabitants of Eorthe. Extremely similar to Earth, the similarities end with the lack of humans and technology. I found the world building to be excellent and very plausible. The relationship between Sorin and Susan developed slowly and burned very hot. The chemistry enhanced the story rather than overpowered it and left room for the reader to enjoy the secondary characters and sub-plots. Scent of Salvation lends it self to a series beautifully and I would be more than happy to follow up with more of this world and it's fascinating tales. The factions of shifters, vampires, mer people and other beings of myth should definitely be explored to a much greater degree and I look forward to being the beneficiary of Annie Nicholas' continued work....more
The Seven Deadly Sins, most of humanity is familiar with the concept, but they aren’t privy to the knowledge that they are actual flesh and blood beinThe Seven Deadly Sins, most of humanity is familiar with the concept, but they aren’t privy to the knowledge that they are actual flesh and blood beings created by Lucifer. In a Hell unlike any you’ve ever envisioned and a Heaven that isn’t quite like what your Sunday school teacher was talking about, things are in flux. Unbeknownst to Luxi, the Sin of lust, she is being used as a tool in a wager between Luc and the Big J. Her assignment is to intern for a state senate campaign in Springfield, Missouri. The candidate is one Reverend Grayson Bailey, and Luxi’s only instructions were Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery.
I waited a year for this book!!! And it was worth every single second!! I know some of the more high brow literary experts consider the Romance genre to be little more than fluff with little to no intrinsic value. To those people I say two things, first I say " Kiss my fluffy, romance reading butt" and second "You should read this book". It is absolutely PROFOUND. Yes it has really hot graphic sex (Yay!) and the characters curse and look pretty and say really snarky, funny things, but the layers and underlying themes of this book are just mind blowing. No, I am not trying to say that Rosalie Stanton has written an earth shattering religious treatise, what she wrote was an extremely intelligent and thought provoking story wrapped in a sexy and entertaining book with characters that don't put me to sleep or make me want to play in traffic. She didn't preach, lecture or proselytize. She used her incredible talent to present options that blurred the rigid lines of belief. (She also made me cry for the last ten pages, but more on that later). OK, I'm off the soapbox now. On to the good stuff....
I judge a book by my reactions to it, and I went through every possible reaction it was humanly possible to feel. I was absolutely drenched in these characters by the end of this book. Even as immortal supernatural beings they had wants and insecurities, flaws and hidden desires, and a need for acceptance of who they were. But I'm making it sound too serious and it doesn't read like that. It is a fun book and you don't realize you've been hit with a hugely emotional event until you're in it and you think "damn, how'd that happen?" I would read a full length novel about each character in this book, they were all that fascinating. Grayson was just a complete enigma, a liberal minister (and not the sleazy kind) in the Mid-West intrigued by his outspoken and sexy intern. He preaches tolerance and love thy neighbor. It was interesting to see his beliefs tested and challenged. Luxi was his perfect mate and I was skeptical that Ms. Stanton would be able to realistically pull that off . Like gangbusters, she did. There is also a few WTF moments that just shook me to the ground and some serious "Hellfire and Brimstone" action. Don't be surprised when you see this on my "Best of 2012" list. Please, Ms. Stanton, don't make me wait another year for the next one....more

When she discovers the duo are longtime lovers, she writes off both men as a lost cause. As a dragon shifter Remy recognizes Lilly as he and Phillipe’s mate, but gaining her acceptance is going to be a tricky maneuver and require all his skills as a lover and a dragon.
Seraphina Donavan dropped some sexy on the world when she wrote this book. One of the problems I have had in the past with m/m/f or just m/m books is that one of the men always comes off as just a tad bit feminine and no offense , but eeeewwwwww. There is NOTHING attractive or intriguing about an effeminate male. They make great friends but as far as anything sexual goes...no. Dragon’s Lair has two very studly and uber masculine heroes in Remy and Phillipe with both being dominant at times. The masculinity is very evident both in actions and umm their physicality. Lilly is a lucky, lucky girl. But this is utterly new to her and she is already shocked by what she has seen at the club, so to think about participating in such things is just too much for Lilly. Things she saves for late at night in her darkest fantasies. When Lilly finally breaks the chains of her inhibitions.... wow! Get through this tournament with her mother and younger sister, then get as far away from martial arts as humanly possible. So what was she doing wandering off with the sport’s golden boy?
I will be totally honest, I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. I figured I would give it a quick read and at best read a few hot sex scenes. Well I did read some really HOT sex scenes, but I totally got into the characters and their story. Surprise!! How chagrined was I? I should have judged this book by the cover. (Isn't it smoking?) Skye Warren did an absolutely magnificent job in developing her characters and in pulling the readers into the drama taking place in their lives. And Paris, what an absolutely dynamite heroine. When she finds out about the "Bet" does she slink away, cry or cling. Um..... no. She gathers her tattered dignity and gives a very dignified exit. Then he gets to chase her and do a little groveling. You know I just luuuurve a good groveling. I got a lot more than I expected in this well written gem of a book. The story itself revolves around the sport of competitive martial arts and had a very adult Karate Kid feel ( I kept waiting for somebody to yell "Sweep the leg!") and while not an avid enthusiast of martial arts, it was presented in such a knowledgeable entertaining way that ended up learning a few things. If you're looking for something enjoyable, unique and very hot, you can't go wrong with Below the Belt. Big kudos on a job well done Ms. Warren....more

Hot Bods is a spot on name for this series because this is one sizzling little story. This is not for the faint of heart or pure of virtue. Skylar and Drew make monkeys on Viagra look puritanical. I liked Skylar, she was a realist who went after what she wanted unapologetically. She also knew when to exercise caution, she just didn't always act on it. Drew wasn't a bad guy, he was just not the best communicator and maybe a little bit of a ... hmmm, what's the word I'm looking for.... douche... no, he wasn't THAT bad, ... he was just a MAN... yeah, that's the word. I could really have stood to see him crawl, beg, suffer (take your pick) just a little bit more. But then, I am mean like that. Luckily for him Skylar wasn't and she did get a small bit of her own back. Lacey Wolfe can really bring her characters to life, which is one of the reasons I can get so annoyed when one does something irritating. Skylar and Drew both had a lot of depth for such a short story and that takes some major talent. Ms. Wolfe also has quite the hand at turning an erotic phrase and these were found in abundance. I was quite pleased with the end result of this spicy tale and now am left to wonder who's next. Maybe Skylar's baking roommate? Just not with the cat guy. ...more
