I waited a couple of days hoping something eloquent or at least deserving of this EPIC masterpiece, but I came to realize that nothing I could possibly think of would adequately convey how much I worship this book. This is beyond a 5 star book. It is a 5 star squared. I didn't think anything could top Acheron, a book that literally changed my life. (Yes, it really impacted me that much)
For those of us who have followed the DH series from it's inception we're starting to wonder if maybe Sherrilyn was spreading herself too thin. She definitely has many, many balls in the air. This book literally smacked me in the face for ever doubting her genius and for this I sincerely apologize. For those who are new to the series, you can read this book as a stand alone but you truly would negate the complex relationships that have evolved over the years.
Even though I often wondered if there was more to the Styxx storyline, I really didn't expect it to alter my view of Acheron (my all time favorite hero). Styxx may have knocked him to second place or at the very least it is a tie. The torture and tragedy that Styxx endured would give the readers nightmares if they are even remotely invested in the DH saga. I don't believe I have ever cried as much for any book, much less a romance that guarantees a HEA. This was truly an emotional roller coaster of a story. For all it's length, I still read Styxx in one sitting, forgoing sleep and pretty much anything that would cause me to put down the book. Do I sound a tad fanatical? Well, that's because I am, and I make no bones about the fact that I revere this series in all it's hills and valleys. If you have not read this book yet, you are missing out on one of the jewels of romance....more

Is there no end to your talent? You must be under the influence of writer's steroids. You should share those. Once again you have robbed me of a night's sleep because I can not put down one of your books, but enough of the fangirl fawning, let's get on with the review.
Uilleam (Will) MacRieve was a broken Lykae on the verge of ending his miserable, immortal life. Molested as a child, with the incident also linked to the death of his beloved parents and his unborn sister, MacRieve has lost control of his beast. On the day when he has given up all hope he and his twin, Munro, discover Will's mate, being sold at auction. She is highly prized among the factions of the Lore because she is the daughter of the leader of The Order. A group responsible for the imprisonment, torture and death of many of the beings from the Lore. Stealing her away, MacRieve is hoping she will now give his life meaning and save him from the pit of despair.
Chloe Todd was on par to be an Olympic soccer player. Known as baby T-Rex, Chloe is one of the fiercest players in the league despite her diminutive size. Her father, her biggest supporter and fan, has disappeared. But before he left, he gives her a book, the book of the Lore. The book details various creatures of myth and fantasy. Chloe has no idea why she is left with the book. That is until she is kidnapped and about to be sold to these creatures. Now being held by a werewolf spouting things about immortality and destined mates, Chloe is going to need every bit of her famed fierceness to cope with this new world she has just become a part of.
Known in the Lore as Hot and Hotter, the MacRieve twins have been on my book radar for years. Knowing just the very bare bones of their back story, I was utterly taken aback by Will's heartbreaking childhood and subsequent adulthood. He was totally a sympathetic hero for the first half of the book. While I absolutely understood where he was coming from, I still wanted to bash his head in with a cast iron frying pan at times. Luckily Chloe was a bad ass bitch who had a zero tolerance policy for butt munches. This leads for some absolutely hilarious exchanges between MacRieve and Chloe. One of the things that saves MacRieve, IMHO, is the fact that he is an EXPERT at the dirty talk. Lord have mercy, he made me sweat. Chloe is such a great heroine. I'm pretty sure she will go down as one of my all time favorites, and that is a very, very select list. I couldn't find a single objectionable quality. I know, I was shocked as well. Even though there are quite a few scenes with some old fan favorites, I think this book lends itself to being a stand alone much better than some of the past books. Maybe because instead of wondering what was going on with the rest of the Lore, I was so totally immersed in Will and Chloe's story. I just can't recommend this book and the entire series enough. This is one of my favored few that I preorder as soon as it's available. Now, I'm ready for Munro's book....more

In, fact he was nJess "Sundown" Brady was quite the changed man from his younger days. He was no longer a wanted gunslinger with a price on his head. In, fact he was no longer human. Gunned down by his best man on the day of his wedding, he bartered his soul to a Greek goddess for vengeance. What he hunted now were the Daimons that feed on human souls to thwart the curse handed down by their creator Apollo. He was sworn to protect mankind, even at his own peril. Abigail Yeager had known Jess from her early childhood, but a tragic event that left both her parents dead, had her certain that Jess was their killer. She has trained every day of her life to avenge their murder, and there's nothing she will not do to make sure he pays.
I love Sherrilyn Kenyon and I live for her books. The Dark Hunter series and all it's accouterments have feed my addiction to the paranormal genre in a most glorious fashion. I love seafood, I would eat it three meals a day for life if possible, but sometimes........you just get a piece of "off" fish. It doesn't mean you never want seafood again, it just means that maybe that wasn't the best fish in the water that day. I didn't like Abigail. There I said it. I feel incredibly disloyal, but I can not lie to my fellow Menyons. She killed Dark Hunters, who did nothing to her or her family. She killed a Native American shaman who did nothing to her or her family. It was a mistake and now she feels bad. Doesn't bring them back though does it? And just for the record, the Dark Hunters did not die easily, she left them in the sun. Yes she acted with the best of intentions, and had been lied to and fed misinformation since childhood, but those innocent people were still dead. I can't overlook that. I'm amazed that Jess Brady could and did. Especially in works of fiction, sometimes you have to kill characters, in defense or retaliation, or even prevention. This can be overlooked for the most part. This is not the case in Retribution.
I enjoyed the writing, I loved the bonus chapter at the end (which for me, made the book). I enjoyed getting to know Sasha better, and of course I loved Zarek's scenes. The rest just felt "off" to me. I just don't know what to say after that. I had such high expectations, and that may have been unfair. If this had been any other author, I can't honestly say I would have finished the book. Do I still love seafood and Sherrilyn Kenyon's books? Damn skippy!...more
Another all night session with a truly magnificent book. Finally Hawke and Sienna's long awaited story, and man, was it worth the wait. I was worried Another all night session with a truly magnificent book. Finally Hawke and Sienna's long awaited story, and man, was it worth the wait. I was worried I might have issues with Sienna's age, but that was handled very well. I mean she is a Psy after all. I was also worried she might walk on the nerves a tad, you know, if she sat around and pined for Hawke. Nope, she did her thing and wolfy boy had to work for it. This is one series I pray never dies out because there are still sooooo many unanswered questions. I really want to focus more on the intrigue within the Council and the Arrows. I love Snow Dancer and Dark River but this whole Ghost thing is driving me crazy. If you haven't tried this series, please do, but start at the beginning because there are just so many factions. You really need all the back stories to appreciate the sheer brilliance of this series. ...more

The hero, Caden (he wasn't much better), did not kiss her until after page 320. He told her on several occasions they would not be together, and still she kept letting him slide into home plate. I mean really, have Some pride, please. One episode took place over a two day span, no breaks, no oral, just him pounding one out. The only reason that I finished this book was due to the continuation of the series. I am enamored of one of the secondary characters, Shock. Hopefully, his story will be handled better, and his heroine not someone I want killed off after the first 25 pages. ...more
