Pax is the epitome of bad boy territory. He smokes, drinks, uses drugs...does just about anything to fill the void in his heart with darkness. That is until Mila saves him from a drug overdoes and this warm ray of sunshine walks into his life when he's at his lowest.
Mila hasn't had it easy herself ever since her parents died. She knows she should stay away from this guy she saved on the beach, but for some reason she just can't get him out of her head. She has to help him. Fix him. But can she? And can she do it without breaking her heart?
I loved, loved, LOVED this story. It grips you from the first page and doesn't let you go. I couldn't put it down until it was over and I read it all in one day. It's just that good. With a twist that will leave you in tears. I cried, I laughed, and to top that off these two are hot together. I loved Pax and the way hes so raw. He tells it like it is and that made him even hotter. It's like he's a peice of forbidden fruit that you just can't look away from.
Overall this was a great book that is raw and passionate and shouldn't be missed!(less)

Mary is focused on her thriving catering business. She doesn't have time for relationships, nor does she want one. But a one night fling with the gorgeous Damien? Yeah she can fit that in. Little does either of them know that one night just won't be enough to quench their thirst for each other.
Mary and Damien are simply put, HOT together. OMG they are scorching!! I couldn't get enough. The worst part about this book is the fact that is had to come to end. I just didn't want to let go. Mary is blunt and tells it like it is. Damien is a hot drummer with a bit of a bad reputation that keeps coming to bite him in the ass. Even though Mary knows he's not the kind of guy you get into a relationship with, when Damien turns on the charm she falls head over heels before she knows it.
Overall I just couldn't get enough of these two. For love of all things erotic you can't pass this book up!(less)

Wondering if there is anyway that I can find the words to describe the level of awesomeness with in these pages?
But that's NOT good enough. So I'm going to try here...
First and Foremost, this is M.J. Hearle's debut novel, and this is not only the best debut novel I've ever read, but probably one of the BEST books I've ever read...period With equal parts suspense, love, swoon-worthiness, fright factor, heart wrenching moments you are left on the edge of your seat. This book will leave you white knuckle gripping the pages, feverishly reading in to the wee hours of the night(until your husband kicks you out of the bedroom and you revert to the living room because there is no need for sleep when your reading this), heart pounding, blood flowing, as you turn each and every page.
Winter's character is flawlessly written in the fact that she sees so many flaws in herself. She is shy, self-conscious, and kind of a self made loner. With her pale freckled skin, red hair, and lopsided mouth when she looks in the mirror she doesn't see anything worth looking at. Maybe that's why I relate to her, I dunno, but I love her. I love how she doubts herself, because that is something that I do everyday. How it is so hard for her to believe that Blake actually finds her attractive. How nervous she is when she is around him. It all just works so perfectly. I mean isn't that how most teenage girls feel?
Then there is Blake... *swoon swoon swoon*
I love the mystery behind him. In fact all the mystery behind the entire book just makes it that much better. You are constantly left guessing WHAT the supernatural element is.
At one point I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised if a ghost flew by the window, a vampire rang the doorbell, an incubus answered the door, a pixie let the werewolf off it's chain, while a faerie sits in the corner brushing her kitty, only to reveal that the kitty is actually a changeling! Yes....I really did think of all of these creatures while trying to figure it out.
Where any of my guesses right you ask? HAHAHAS come on now you don't really think that I'm gonna tell you now do you?
You will just have to read and find out! yes I am aware that I am evil...but you love me for it *winks*
But back to Blake and Winter. Their relationship, while tragically tangled, is smooth and perfect. The best part is how at one point I'm reading, loving it, flying through the pages, and then DA da dummmmm, and before I even realized that I had time to get emotionally attached there is an ache in my chest and a tear escaping my eyes as I audibly gasp. M.J.Hearle sneaks up behind you and compels you to a point you no longer feel like a bystander looking in. No you have become the story...the story has become you. This is by far the best Paranormal YA I've read in the last few months.
With a twist at the end that leaves you begging for more....I can't CAN'T wait for the next book in this series to come out. And you can bet you finest possession that I WILL be re-reading this book. Because once just simply isn't enough for a book with this much wonderment.
Look out world there is a new supernatural kid on the block and he isn't going anywhere!
One last note before we hit the road here. Unfortunately this book is only released in Australia right now. But never fear you can get a chance to read it through a tour that's going on HERE! Thanks to the fine people at Pan Macmillan AU & M.J. Hearle for making that possible. Also for all you publisher's out there M.J. Hearle is in the market for a US publisher, so please if your reading this do yourself a favor and look him up! I wouldn't steer ya wrong this book is beyond words...(less)

Myrna is a university professor in Kansas City. A human sexuality professor to be exact. While she is away on a convention with her stuffy, boring colleagues she runs into the Sinners, her favorite metal band, at the hotel bar. Surrounded by boring suits she decides to go talk to them. I mean what does she has to lose right? Before she knows it Myrna is sucked into the world of music tours, groupies, and sexually exploration. Along the way Myrna loses a few things, but gains something that she thought she would never posses again. Or that she would want to.
Cunnings doesn't waste any time getting right down to the nitty gritty. She dives right in leaving you saying things like: Ohmygodthatshot *fans myself*, and at others EWWWWW No don't do that! *gags a little* then *blushes*
Uh Huh that's right I gaged and then blushed...this book is making me question just how twisted my buried deviant side is. *winks*
In the end not only did Cunnings make you feel things...dark, sexy, hot inferno things, but she also painted a story that made me fall for the characters. By the time she was done with me I began to care about each and everyone of the Sinners band mates, and wow don't get me started on Brian. Brian loves Myrna in a way that as little girls we all dream about a man loving us one day. I know what your thinking, and NO I DIDN'T CRY...ok maybe I got a little misty eyed. Shut up! ;)
This is a book that your husband will definitely reap the benefits from. Well if he doesn't mind getting slightly raped in his sleep...thank gawd mine didn't;)
Just a funny side note: The hubs actually asked me "What have you done with my wife, and please by all means keep her there." lolz(less)

The characters, the writing, the gruesome reality of hopelessness, and then....the possible, the faint glimmer playing in the shadows, of hope.
So you are probably wondering why not 5 stars right? Well it's the ending. Not that there is anything wrong with the ending, but I was expecting something MORE, something NEW, something I haven't already seen done at the end of a zombie novel, and yet....I still loved this book.
The world has been overrun by zombies. No one knows why the dead stopped being dead. What caused all this. Was it a virus? Was it some sort of government experiment gone wrong? All we do know is that one day the dead stopped making it to their graves, the world became a hunting ground, and living in these Last Days isn't really living at all....not for the the living...not for the dead. The zombies have no memories of their own. No clue who they are, what happened to them, what their names are, but they find comfort in the memories of the brains they devour. Getting little flashes and tidbits of the persons life they just ended.
R, that's all he knows of his name, is locked inside his head. Able to climb verbal skyscrapers in a single bound inside his head, but unable to bring them past his rigormortis stricken lips. He feels trapped, lost, spending time wondering if he is different than the others. He seems different. Do they too have the thoughts I have? Or are they as void on the inside as they appear on the outside? But things start changing when his hunting party goes out, and R feeds on the brains of a boy named Perry. Then he sees her...
And everything changes. R feels something more than the hunger. He NEEDS to keep her safe from this world. He NEEDS to protect her from the rest of his hunting buddies. Taking her back with him to hide out in his "house jet" it isn't long before even weirder things begin to happen. Is that love he is feeling? How can that be possible considering his heart is dead?
The journey that Julie and R take together is both amazing and heart breaking. I loved them both almost instantly. R....oh my poor R. Honey I will love you zombie or not. Seriously I just want to hug him, squeeze him, and tell him everything is going to be okay.
Things R said that broke my heart I go around to the front of the house and stand at the door, waiting nervously in my dress shirt and tie. She opens it, grinning shyly. Prom night at the end of the world.
I don't want to hear music, I don't want the sunrise to be pink. The world is a liar. It's ugliness is overwhelming; the scraps of beauty make it worse.
and then my personal favorite... Not easy Mr.Lennon. Even if you try.
And that's just a taste of what you'll find inside these pages. Do yourself a favor and open this one up. The writing is perfection. Written with poetic, albeit sometimes morbid, precision. Both Julie and R will grab your heart:))

HOWEVER I PROMISE THAT THIS IS A SPOILER FREE ZONE WHEN IT COMES TO FOREVER *~*~*
Maggie won over my heart in Shiver. Shiver was my first werewolf read and I have never looked back.
Then there was Linger that took things to a whole new level and Maggie seemed to perfect the art of the evil cliffy!
I mean in Shiver you’re on the edge of your seat at the very end, biting your nails, tears are disobeying your cease and desist order, and then….Sam steps out of the woods, very solidly human and more importantly alive!
But OMG in Linger you meet Cole which can I just take a moment to drool over him here?
Ok I’m Back!
So we meet Cole and we get a deeper look into Isabel. While Isabel is still the resident bitch you find you kind of like having her around, maybe you even start rooting for her a little bit. Cole intrigues you and you want more, need to know more! And Grace and Sam are as sweet as ever. You can’t help but love them, and now the tears stream down your face off and on the whole time. You cry for Isabel. You cry for Cole. You cry for Sam & Grace. And you don’t ever bother with the cease and desist order anymore. You just let it happen. Let Maggie grab your emotions and take you where she wants you. Only she leaves you standing on a blood smeared floor in a hospital room, staring out a broken window. Glass shards crunch beneath your feet as the tears pull and mix with the blood on the floor. Your frozen there with the book in your hands staring at a wolf…staring at Grace…and inside you die a little.
And now everything we have been waiting for…
All the answers we have been searching for…
Everything we have been waiting forever for…
Comes down to this!
Again Forever is written from 4 points of view and while most would say “Isn’t that confusing?” I have to tell you it’s not. Not even a little. In fact I wouldn’t want it any other way. I learned so SO much about Cole and Isabel in this book. I loved every minute that I got to spend inside their head. And yes I swoon for Cole even more now. Now that I know, that I finally understand the man behind the mask that is Cole St. Claire.
He is broken and twisted. Lost inside himself and it is killing him, but we see him grow, see him change. In the end we couldn’t have asked for a better person to be in Sam & Grace’s life.
I get it now... Why Beck picked him.
Isabel also seems to thaw a lot more in this book and now I DO love her and I have no problem admitting it. In fact…I even cried for her. There I said it! And I’ll say it again. I turned my emotions back over to Maggie and she lead to a place I least expected…crying with Isabel on a bathroom floor. (once you read it you’ll understand. NO I was NOT actually on a bathroom floor *winks*)
Then with Sam & Grace…what can I say? Their love is so perfect, simple yet complicated, innocent, and all-consuming that you can’t help but feel it. It’s that I-will-do-anything-include-die-for-you kind of love, and while in some series the author strives for that but it never quiet makes it. They always fall just short of believable…NOT here. You believe ever part of it and take it all with you when long after you have read the last page. I especially love how Grace & Sam finally handle her parents. I wanted to hug them both for that.
I do want to say this though…
A long time ago I made predictions for how this series would end. I was right about so much, yet wrong about EVERYTHING!
With that being said I say this: From a writers point of view the ending is flawless. Most writers can’t find it in them to leave it the way Maggie did, and for that I applaud her. It’s not all nice and neat, perfectly packaged and tied with a pink bow. It’s more like she put everything in the box, left out the tissue paper, handed you the wrapping paper, ribbon, tape, and scissors, and said “Here ya go,” and walked away.
From a readers point of view, my imagination is getting the better of me and I’m slowly tearing apart all of the possibilities, knowing that this is it, I’m not getting another book, but in its own way Forever leaves you with, maybe not an evil cliffy, but definitely a tormented one…
I find myself here knowing that it’s time to let them go. But I can’t and I won’t …not ever!

Is it me? and...
Have I outgrown YA? Is it possible for me to not find joy in a genre that once brought me nothing but joy?
Cynthia Hand, here I stand in front of you, to bow before your feet. To kiss the ground that Clara walks on. The ground that you created perfectly. The ground that restored my faith in YA. This may have been your debut novel, but you are nothing less than a master of your craft. Pat yourself on the back for a very VERY job well done!
Clara is, like most teens, a girl trying to fit in. Hating knowing that no matter what she never truly will. Because unlike most teens, she isn't entirely human. She is an angel-blood. Her mother is half angel, and her and her brother are quarter angel. While it seems that no matter what her brother as no problems fitting in...Clara couldn't be more opposite. Seems like being an angel-blood is easy for her younger brother, but for Clara is just makes her more awkward. Now that she has received her purpose she has a destiny to fulfill.
Clara's character was written flawlessly...NO really I challenge you to find a flaw! There simply isn't one, and from me that's saying ALOT. But if you think you can, please take me up on my challenge. In the end you will be thanking me for the wonderment that is this story. Clara isn't all nail polish and bubble gum lip gloss, or all bad ass tough as nails WAY older than her age. She is just simply a perfect balance. I believe her has a teenager. A teenager that I would love to be friends with. A teenager that sounds alot like me. She will make you laugh one minute, and bring you to tears the next. Her thoughts are short and precise, bouncing from one thing to the next and then back again. Just like most teenage girls I know. It is absolutely refreshing seeing Clara's world through her eyes. Watching her grow. It's raw, it's messy, it's REAL.
Yes there is a bit of a love triangle here, but it's far from the typical norm that has become YA. It's a triangle that has a major twist. I found myself saying things like....ok first I hated you, then I grew to like you, and now I'm here CRYING for you...really?!?! And then in the end...all I can say is WOW. It's a real love. It's believable, and somehow ME, the punk rocker girl that I am, as fallen for a stetson wearing, pick-up truck naming, horseback riding rodeo cowboy. If that doesn't tell you how great of a writer Cynthia Hand is then I don't know what will.
So before I go and spoil anything I'm just gonna leave you with a quote from the book to give you a glimpse of what I'm talking about. I don't usually do quotes in my reviews, but I think this one needs it.
"I feel like Cinderella sitting in the middle of the road with a pumpkin and a couple of mice, while Prince Charming charges off to rescue some other chick."
"I've essentially given up on the idea of flight all together and accepted that I'm going to be an angel-blood who stays earthbound, a flightless bird, like an ostrich maybe, or in this weather, a penguin."
Now you see what I mean about the writing? LOVES IT!!
Buy it,rent it, borrow it, steal it if you have to, but you have got to READ this book!! (less)

Isobel is your basic blond popular cheerleader. She has your typical varsity football playing boyfriend. That is until she gets partnered to do an english project with your typical highschool goth outcast, only he's not so typical. As relectant as they both are to work together on this Isobel starts to realize that she is fighting feelings for him after she has stand up for him when her boyfriend does the "jock" thing and terrorizes Varen at work.
I don't want to give anything away so I'm just gonna leave you with this...

The town of Gentry as seemed to survive all the test of time including the Great Depression...but every gain has it's price. The question is are you willing to pay it?
For centuries the people of Gentry have looked the other way. Some babies live, some babies die, and some babies just disappear but they seem to accept it to insure their stable life style. Most people have secrets but in Gentry the whole town shares the same one and they intend to keep it that way. Well until Mackie that is.
Mackie is a replacement. Placed in the Doyles crib at birth. He tries to go unnoticed through life because the thing is he was supposed to die a child. Now that he is older everyone can see the difference in him. His severe reaction to iron and most things metal doesn't help either. When another child disappears he steps up to the plate to find answers. Not only about the missing child but also about who he really is....what he really is.
Ok so Ive heard the good, the bad, and the ugly when I. Comes to reviews of this book. Now here is mine.
Replacements is dark, gritty, twisted, slightly confusing, lovish story and I loved it!!! The imagery in this novel was amazing. For being a new author Brenna really knows how to paint a picture. I loved the crazy underground world she created. Tate is rough around the edges and down right bitchy most of the time but I still felt her pain and ended up taking her out of the corner and hugging her. I love the fact that the relationships between the characters are Real. No one is perfect as they so often are in these books. There is no love at first sight. The love grows and feels more realistic. Even the more lust filled parts are just that, not all careful and loving. Let's face it in high school it was lust and raw passion.
If your looking for a good fast read then I'd say you've found it. I just wish there was gonna be a sequel so I could find out Exactly what Mackie is. My guess is an incubus or something?!(less)

I just shut this book and the tears still blur my vision as I'm typing this. I think my heart is breaking in a way that I never thought a book could do. I am going to try and keep this as objective as possible but emotions are running high and raw right now. Oh Maggie how amazing are you?! When I read Shiver it left me wanting more. Now that I've read Linger I am left Needing more! At first glance Linger can be a bit confusing to follow. Maggie introduces a few new/ great characters in a way most authors wouldn't, by switching the narrative back and forth between 4 main characters. For a while it feels like you are trying to keep more than one story straight at a time, and while this would have never worked for most stories/authors, it works beautifully. It brings a level of depth and connection to the story that you just simply would have missed if she hadn't wrote it the way she did. My hat goes off to you Maggie Stiefvater. Bravo! Sam and Grace in all their tragic love has never been more real. I laughed, I cried, I dreamed about the wolves...what more could you ask for? How about a super hot famous rocker trying to run from his past. He's tortured and damaged in a way that makes him a heartless bastard yet somehow you will still fall for him every time. Buy it, rent it, borrow it, steal it if you have to, but Read It! You'll thank yourself later. (less)

You would think she would be scared of them but instead she is left fascinated, especially by the one with yellow eyes. The one who saved her from the rest of the pack that terrible day. This book was alittle hard to follow for the first 30 pages but hang in there. You'll be soooooo glad you did! After you get over that hump the pages start flying and before you know it, you've laughed, you've cried, and you left staring at the last page. I finished this book in a day and thank goddess I had Linger sitting there because I don't think I would have made it through the night. I dove right into the sequel.
