So here we are with whatHow original and cool the concept of the books seem eh? It really makes you want to read it! That's why i picked it up anyway.
So here we are with what seems like something new. Is it though? Yes and no. I mean there are some cliche things and it reminded me other YA books from the point of a more generic theme but still it had the element of difference. The mysteries in the book, really make you to want read and read to see what happens. Plus, Llona is a really great character and quite enjoyable to read about her. She does have some weird moments, but don't we all? I like when a character it's not too perfect.
I can't say the romance was too much of wow after everything i have read but it was nice and the scenes were quite entertaining even though it was the usual forbidden love story, we all see nowdays in books.
If i have something negative to say, it would be on the writing part. There were points it seems so poor done and others that it seemed really professional from someone who has write before. It wasn't bad, but it make me wonder if some parts of the book were written a lot earlier than the others.
In general i would say, it's a good read. I could maybe read one more time. Do not expect the super duper novel, but it worth its time....more

Guardians, demons and girls which are important for them are all in trend lately. But that doesn't mean a story following those ideas can't offer something new. Seers is just a light and easy to be read book. I didn't even notice how the time passed. It was fun and adventurous. And even though they were times, that reminded me of Angelfire i can almost say that i enjoyed it more. It was serious but at the same time it felt more real to what we see around us.
I think what made the book that good was the people who around our heroine Kate. She has a best friend, who actually acts as a best friend. She is not there just to discuss the boy but for everything her friend would ask. Her boyfriend is actually a great guy. You can't hate him. He is caring and tries to be there for her even their problems. Her family is not absent from the book either. There are scenes just for Kate having fun with her sister or grandparents. Talking with them about their problems, etc. So when the books lacks originality, it's full of what a character really needs. It feels right.
As for the two boys in her life i wouldn't call this a triangle. Kate is not attracted to her boyfriend anymore, but as i said above he tries to please her and he is such a good guy and she just tries to save her relationship. And the nice thing is, that her guardian Patrick can see that and despite his feeling, tried to not interfere either. See! No bad guys, no fighting but still such enjoyable "triangle" to read.
Seers won't be your best and most original novel ever, but i believe it will leave you with a smile in the end. So check, one more recommendation from me.

Stupid me! It is actually the journey of how they made the game Alice: Madness Returns (which Johnny is supposed to review one of those days).
So here i am with a novel of how a game created. I have one thing to say. WOW! I never imagined how much job needs to be done before they actually start to make the game. The book is full of sketches and art with comments from the artists. You get to see how many ideas where rejected, how difficult was for the Japanese artists to work on a Victorian London atmosphere, how sometime they overdone it with the bloody things they created. The tried dozens and dozens of Alice portrait til they decide which one they liked. Their comments said they almost killed each other til they found something that everyone liked. And i was so surprised that half of the things they created, didn't even make it to the game and they had to create something new again. I really admire their nerves.
If you love Alice and artwork, you will fall in love with the book. Their comments are funny but at the same full of info and explanations. I think i will buy it just to look at the photos. I wish i could share of them with you. Let me search online....(thank you google!) View photos...more

Plus, it had the characters appearance changed so when i got this one from NetGalley, i had my doubts of what i will see.
As it seems, this one is created of some of the original creators of the series and some others new ones. It has 4 parts (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, Bonus Stories) with each one of them includes short stories of 5 (more or less) pages.
Each story is placed in the right chronological order and not only that but they actually had connection with the animation series! Seriously, it was like watching the show! It was that cute and stupid things that made the show awesome, with Sokka and his jokes, some romance between Aang and Katara, more Zuko and Iroh, more Toph and her weirdness!! I absolutely loved it! I finished it in about an hour and i didn't stop laughing from the first to the last story. There is no chance, a fan of the series don't like it. Is exactly what we are used to.
What was not easy to get used to it though, was the difference between the artists. There were artists who draw exactly like the show was (probably they draw the animation there too) and some others which the sketches were a bit different. 2/3 of it, is the usual known to as sketches so it's not such a big deal.
Kids and fans of the show (teens,grannys..even dogs) will love it. Adults who are new to this they might find it silly. I belong to the first category ^^...more

For those who have watch the first 2 episodes, you may noticed that there isn't info on Ben's kidnapping, the fighting teams or more about the alien invasion. All those are explained in this book.
The artists tried to copy the faces of the actors to the novel. At some points they look exactly like them but at other you can't even recognize the characters between them. There were times i was re-reading parts so i can understand who is the person who said a certain bubble.
Now, while the story is really interesting with mystery and action everything is described as written in a diary. Most of the time there are no bubbles between people, just the picture and description about it. Because of that it became tiresome and i believe it lost much of its life. It felt dead. You were seeing only Tom's POV and you didn't get to know the rest of the characters and create your own opinion about them.
Apart from the things above it was a nice read. Didn't impress me much, but i can't say it didn't have an appeal. The TV series seem better so far....more

Only the name which is actually two names. You can easily see it as a total different story, no related with Cinderella.
The author actually tells the story as a fairytale. It's written in third person and following almost all characters and not only the two girls. It's easy to read, though i wouldn't mind more description at some certain parts. I was wondering a lot about the tree in the cover, and i can tell you that is explained in the story. It's a really nice idea actually. The whole story is an adventure with bits of romance and action.
While i liked the characters in general, i have to say they weren't developed enough. Except Ella, all of them had a naive and sketchy way of thinking. Everyone could make do Cinder what they wanted. She barely judged them, or had an opinion. The other sisters were just mean. The knight was too honorable. It was almost creepy for me. The evil guy, wasn't something special and i hated everyone in the kingdom for doing nothing about it. The king at the end, just exile the evil prince but all the previous time..for years..he had him there to rule and looking without doing a thing, even though he knew everything about his evil acts. I still can't understand why he didn't do it sooner since he could.
I did enjoy the story but the characters ruined it for me. Except that, it was a really original idea and a fast read into a darker fairytale world....more
