The blurb on the back sounded fun and exciting, so I sat down with what I fully expected to be a good read. By the time I was half way through the book, I honestly considered just taking it back. The heroine, a journalist/well-known criminal's daughter, doesn't like having her life pried into (pot or kettle?) and though the author frequently reminds us how strong and intelligent the hypocritical heroine is, she continually makes weak and stupid decisions to move along the plot. The hero is completely flat. I felt no emotion for him whatsoever. The dialogue is contrived and unbelievable. I sincerely hope someone can give me the name of one of Ms. Garwood's better works, so I can revise my opinion of her writing. While Fire and Ice wasn't the worst book I ever read, it left me annoyed and uninspired.(less)
