I found this book not only inspiring but also cute and extremely well written. The author has a magical way with words that made the story come to life. The characters weren't just characters in my head; I could picture them before my eyes, I laughed with them and experienced their tension and joy. I absolutely adored this story and can't believe it's free. A great read not just for kids but also for the young at heart. Thoroughly recommended!...more

On a shopping trip, she witnesses a robbing and is kidnapped by the robbers but something happens on the way to the place where they plan to kill her. Suddenly, Georgia's strength of character is put to the test when faced with the life-threatening situation of surviving in the wilderness, heavily pregnant. Winter's Captive was a fantastic read with drama and tension from start to finish. It was also mystical in places and really made me consider my worldview. Georgia was a strong heroine, funny and feisty at times, but also vulnerable, which made me like her a lot. This is a suspenseful with a unique voice and plenty of twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can only recommend it! ...more

That's why she's being offered a spot in a very exclusive private school in Scotland. Upon her arrival, she meets Hunter and they hit it off straight away. Hunter's funny and cute, and she falls for him quickly. But Hunter's also free spirited and adventurous, two qualities that get him in trouble most of the time. But conquering her flame's heart, even though he's never been one to play fair...or faithful, aren't Zoey's only worries. Strange things begin to take place at her new school: dreams and visions that seem eerily real. Zoey and Hunter soon begin to unravel a past long forgotten. Or is it? As Zoey and Hunter lose themselves in the school's past, they don't yet realize their quest to discover the truth might just draw dangerous attention upon them.
The Possession of Zoey is a fast read that kept me hooked from page one. I absolutely loved the vivid imagery of the new school, an old castle in the middle of Scotland. Hunter's such a funny and lighthearted character. He's the perfect love interest, the guy whose heart has never belonged to anyone. Zoey is more broody and intense, and has a few secrets of her own. Secrets that put her life in danger. This was a brilliant book that ended with a cliffhanger I thoroughly enjoyed. I hope the next installment will be out soon because I'm dying to find out what happens next....more

I piInto the Ruins is a collection of novellas that has it all: humor, urban fantasy, romance and much, much more. There's something for every taste. I picked it up not expecting much for 99¢, and was pleasantly surprised with the level of writing, characters and punctuation as well as the imagination. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down.
I absolutely adored Diary of a Duct Tape Zombie and could see it easily turned into a detective series. Even after his death, Detective Mallon isn't ready to give up on what he regards as his mission: solving crimes. But what if the criminals no longer dwell among the living? As he tries to solve his last great case, Detective Mallon soon finds out this one might just be the hardest he's ever had. This was a fantastic read, full of drama and suspense. But what made this story a brilliant one to me personally was the writer's style and her ability to convey a sense of urgency. I felt as though I was there with Mallon, putting clue after clue together to find the missing puzzle. Detective stories don't usually evoke such strong emotions in me, but this one managed to make me root for the detective.
My second favorite story was Mushrooms, which demonstrates amazing world building. I thought the portrayal of a city (Denver) going down was very well down and reminded me a bit of 28 Days Later, one of my favorite zombie movies ever, but with less gore, more drama and suspense, and very good description.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this collection to anyone who wants a good, suspenseful read that's well written and that will keep you at the edge of your seat. I'll be looking out for more from this author because she's a master storyteller....more

Too bad she's not the best singer. In fact, she's so bad she constantly keeps singing out of tune, which is why her mean teacher has decided to kick her out of the choir before Polly gets to sing at the Opera House. Fortunately for Polly, her best friend, Gertie, is the best singer in school, and Gertie has decided she won't sing either if Polly's not allowed to come along. Now that's what friends are for. And so Polly get sot sing in the choir after all...but only after agreeing to mime. Polly isn't exactly thrilled, but she gets to be inside the Opera House and that's bound to count for something. To make matters worse, her mean aunt is staying over for a week and that's really bad news because Auntie can't cook. In fact, her concoctions are troublesome for anyone with a healthy stomach, and she's also not keen on Polly becoming famous. As trouble is mounting up for Polly, she's thrown into one misadventure after another with a hilarious climax. This book was a fantastic read with one laugh after another. The writing was suitable for kids, but challenging enough to allow them to learn something along the way. I loved Polly. She's the perfect endearing little girl who just can't seem able to stay out of trouble. Would thoroughly recommend to both kids and adults who love to laugh. ...more

The cover’s gorgeous, and the blurb promises an intense story. As I started reading, I realized this book’s way more than that.
Alexandra was an ordinary young woman, until she touches something that shouldn’t have been touched. Now, psychic abilities she cannot understand awaken inside her, taking her on a journey that will change her life. With Jediah’s help, she realizes she’s a Sensate, the most powerful there’s been in two thousand years. As the tides of life begin to turn, Alexandra realizes her destiny isn’t what she thought it’d be and people aren’t always who they say they are. With Jediah’s help she thinks she can conquer it all, but can she trust the one who’s been trying to conquer her for hundreds of years?
I’m not going to say more because I don’t want to reveal the plot. I just loved this book. It was beautifully written, the characters were diverse and vivid, and the storyline drew me in straight away. It kept my attention throughout the entire rollercoaster ride and I was sad to see it end. I can’t wait for book 2 and recommend Larkspur to all fantasy and paranormal readers who like their reads fast paced, with lots of twists and turns along the way. ...more

Progeny of Innocence was an even more amazing, wicked read than The Angels Are Here.
The novel begins with a brief account of the background story and is narrated by Juliette. Juliette is an old soul reborn in the body of a young girl, Grace. In the first book, Grace was just a girl, now she’s a 16-year-old teenager who’s plagued by visions she doesn’t understand even though she desperately tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together in order to find out who Juliette really was and what exactly happened to her world. Grace never really got over her father’s death, so when she meets the new boy in town, Damon, he takes on a very important role in her life as her love interest and the one that makes her loss more bearable, along with Wade. But soon things start to get strange and it’s obvious there’s a killer on the loose, though it’s doubtable that he’s human. I could feel the spark between Grace and Damon, though I’m not yet sure whether he’s good or bad.
I liked Grace in the first book, but in this one she was even more likeable and had me rooting for her when the fallen angels (called Grigorians) came closer to finding her. I thought she came across as honest and responsible, just the way someone with her importance in the fate of heaven and earth should be. I liked that she’s become an adult now and that she understands the importance of what’s going on around her.
One of my favorite characters was Keyla, who is a secondary character and the bearer of magic of the ancient race, Bakhna Rakhna. There was some sort of mystery surrounding her and I can’t wait to find out what her story and role is in the ancient battle between the angel houses.
All in all, this was such an amazing, well-written read I thoroughly enjoyed and can only recommend. I’m astounded by the writer’s imagination, the rich writing and beautiful prose as well as the intrinsic plot. If you’re hesitating, get the sample first. I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to put it down....more

Freddie Fraser has never in his life seen the glamour that defines the rooms inside one of the most famous and posh hotels in New York, The Plaza. To woo the girl of his dreams though, he's very much willing to let his brother, hotel clerk Alex, use the famous penthouse for one evening in order to impress the young woman. What Freddie doesn't know, however, is that a few other people are booked in there at the same time. First, there's Henry Lade who's a spy novelist that needs protection by the Secret Service because his spy novels have been ringing a bit suspicious to a few political powers. The Russians and Germans believe Lade might've discovered a major plot and now Lade's life at risk. And second, there are the Beatles who happen to stay in the penthouse suite as well. What should be a straightforward job for the spies, turns into a hilarious tale of mix-ups that will keep you on your toes.
If you haven't read anything by Thomas Amo, this is one story you shouldn't miss out on. It's so funny and witty I laughed all the way through it, and would recommend it to anyone who likes tasteful humour, a well written tale and a good spy adventure....more

Everyone thinks it’s the result of gangs fighting, but Justice, the only survivor, knows something else is going on and whatever’s to blame might just be inside him. Fast forward fifteen years and the girl who watched the murder scene when her father investigated, twenty-something-year-old Jes, is a detective who hasn’t forgotten the mystery was never solved. She knows who or, better said, what Justice is because she was gifted the same powers with the only difference that she hasn’t used them…yet. Even though she believes Justice to be a murderer, she vows to find him because there’s something she needs from him. Not only can he shed some light on what really happened on that fateful night fifteen years ago and why he was forced to turn at such a young age, he’s also the only person who knows something about her parents’ disappearance.
I’m a big fan of the paranormal /dark fantasy genre but that’s not why I liked this book so much. From the very beginning The Fallen One has an eerie gothic atmosphere and as the plot moves forward the tale becomes even spookier. The characters are deep and described in such vivid detail that I had no trouble imagining them. The setting is unique, and the background story is something that hasn’t been done before. What impressed me the most, however, was the writing. It’s easy to read but at the same time lyrical with beautiful description and the mystery that engulfs both Jes and Justice had me spell-bound. There’s plenty of action, drama, and a blossoming romance.
This is a must read and I’m looking forward to great things from this series. I hope the second book will be out soon. ...more

Now Sarah must do everything in her power to stay alive...even if it means marrying the enemy who could find out she's not who he thinks she is...
I loved this book. The writing is fantastic. The story building isn't your typical paranormal romance, but includes time travel and mystery elements as Sarah has to find out what really happened to her sister while trying to save her own life. Sarah's such a lovable heroine who cares about others while Victor's strong and determined to crush his enemies and keep the woman he desires. The attraction between the two was sizzling hot. There were quite a few twists and turns I didn't see coming, and the ending left me eager to pick up the next book. All in all, a really good book I'd recommend to readers of paranormal fiction who enjoy a bit of romance, humor and mystery. ...more

In Book one, Sarah entered Victor’s world by chance when she stepped through a portal in time that once swallowed up her sister. Sarah’s struggling to find her way in this new world. Even though adjusting doesn’t come easily, she’s tough and won’t give up her quest to solve the mystery about her sister’s disappearance. When first signs appear that something horrible happened to Liz, Sarah’s determined to find her no matter what. But to do so she must risk her own life by exposing herself to her pursuers. The Immortal Court is not pleased that Victor shared the Ruby Ring with his new wife, Sarah. For his reckless behavior, he must be punished with death, and so must Sarah. More than ever before, Victor’s determined to save both Sarah’s and his life…even if it means going against her will. So he hunts her down wherever she’s going, watching her, helping her to learn to use her powers, keeping them alive when in reality all he wants is her.
The romance part was definitely heating up in this book. I found myself blushing a few times and wishing Victor wasn’t just a figment of the author’s imagination. The second book of the series also has more drama, more action, and an ending that left me wishing there was another book in the series so I would get to continue following the characters’ lives. Eternal Destiny was definitely one of those emotional reads you cannot put down. If you love your males strong and your heroines funny and stubborn, and a good romance that also offers a bit of a mystery, this is the book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can only recommend it. ...more

TheI got this a while back and never got round to reading it...until I stumbled upon it on my Kindle and gave it a try. It drew me in from page one. The plot focuses on Elrenia, who is not your usual heroine. Elrenia can hear voices no one else can hear, voices who guide her life and protect her from harm. The book starts with Elrenia trying to get away from an ex she still has feelings for. As she's about to board a plane, her intuition tells her not to and so she's spared from a horrible incident. Trying to fit the puzzle pieces together Elrenia doesn't know that she's become the target of a killer who'll stop at nothing to conclude what he's started. I love a good mystery and this is one of those I wasn't able to put down. Elrenia was a fascinating character struggling to come to terms with past demons. All in all, this was a suspenseful book I'd recommend....more

It starts off pretty fast paced: Dean is young man leaving in world infested by zombies, but it wasn't always like this. Before a virus claimed the world and most of its inhabitants, he led a sheltered life with his parents and brother, Nick. Nick is a pilot now, who risks his life on a daily basis to help those who haven't been infected yet by keeping them safe. Dean has always looked up to his brother. He's always wanted to be like him so when he meets Val, who's just been infected by the virus, Dean is hell bent on saving her. Without telling his brother, he steals a few vials of a new trial treatment against the virus and hides Val inside Nick's helicopter, then persuades him to fly them out of their safe fortress to the nearest city. His plan is to take Val away before she's being executed and then wait until the virus kicks in so he can administer the new treatment to save her. But when the helicopter crashes, leaving them in the middle of zombie-infested territory, and Nick discovers Val, all of Dean's plans are thrown overboard. Slowly but steadily, secrets are revealed and new allies and adversaries join the little crew on their way out of the danger zone.
This was a great, action packed book that kept me turning the pages late into the night. Nick is a great character, who matures as the story progresses. He's likeable and has a sharp mind and a strong will to survive. I really liked that about him. My favorite character was Lucas, who's a bit of a tech whizz, because he was funny and a great friend. The writing was at times funny, at times sad, but consistently filled with tension and drama. I can't wait to see where the story goes in the sequel....more
