I hope the author will keep writing them for a long time. In the fifth instalment, Dean realizes the serum isn't as stable as they previously thought. While zombies can be 'cured' for a brief time, some turn into hybrids. Getting rid of zombies is a matter of shooting them; getting rid of hybrids is a whole different issue because they retain their ability to think. They stalk their prey, devise plans and organize their attacks. I loved this twist in the story. It's nothing I've ever read or seen before and that makes the series unique to me because originality is hard to find. And the author has plenty of that. The end wasn't a cliffhanger to me but I cannot wait for the next book to come out to see where the author's taking the story.
The series is well written and full of suspense, there's no doubt about that. It's not your typical lovey-dovey fantasy with heroes and heroines with no backbone. This one has strong characters who are both likeable and have a backstory to them. Forget the usual lovey-dovey boy gets girl and they live happily ever after, this series has quite a bit of romance in it but also unpredictable action elements, twists and turns I didn't see coming. I like it when a book grips me and keeps me on the edge of my seat, and this one did just that. Absolutely a page turner I would recommend to everyone who likes their books unpredictable, action-packed and full of suspense.(less)

Nick and Dean embark on a new mission to save Tahoe's little girls. On their way, the bag with the invaluable vials is stolen. Their search takes them to a building infiltrated by zombies and that's where things get really interesting. I won't say too much so I won't spoil the plot. Let's just say, things heat up and take a completely unexpected direction than I anticipated. There's drama, love, loss, and lots of action, which makes this series an amazing read, not just for zombie fans and readers of the horror genre.
I applaud the author for her imagination. I haven't read a series that's both entertaining and original in a long time. Her writing's easy to follow and makes the pages come to life. What I also like is that you don't have to read them in order to get the most enjoyment from this series. The characters, setting and plot elements are so vivid, you'd find your way around without having read the previous books. This said, I think they're a must read and I can't wait for the next book.(less)

King Victor and Sarah are together and very much in love. Now that Sarah's an Immortal, they know they have to work on her powers so she's prepared in the likely event of an attack.
Sarah loves her new powers and she's having a great time learning to use them with her husband by her side. Unfortunately their contentment doesn't last for long. Ethano is back with a vengeance. He breaks into the castle and marks Sarah. And now something's happening to their bond, putting their lives in their enemies' hands.
Without giving away the plot, let's just say I barely skimmed the surface and a lot more than this is happening.
I love this series and the way the author keeps the readers guessing. I didn't know a lot about the plot when I got it and I'm glad I didn't spoil it. The pacing was a mixture of adventure and mystery, interspersed with romance. I adore the way the author shows her characters' emotions. King Victor is caring, protective, handsome, and very much in love with Sarah. While Sarah is feisty and very funny. It's a great and refreshing mixture.
I was on the edge of my seat through the entire book, glued to my screen to read what happens next, and now I can't wait for the next installment to come out. A fantastic read that I'd definitely recommend Eternal Fire to all paranormal romance and fantasy readers.(less)

The cover's gorgeous, and the story blew me away. I really liked the first, but my haunted fairytale was even better. In this one, Zoey and Hunter realize their attraction is stronger than they initially thought. They've always been drawn to one another, but Hunter's a bit of a bad boy so Zoey was reluctant to get too close fearing she might be burned. Now they're spending time together, getting to know each other, and while their romance is blossoming, paranormal activity begins to emerge in the castle slash private school.
I loved Hunter. He's definitely swoon worthy material. Zoey and he were so good together, and I really enjoyed the way they get to know each other while finding out just how much they have in common. The plot thickens with quite a bit of mystery interwoven into it. I can't wait to read book 3 and anything else this author might publish.(less)

The cover’s gorgeous, and the blurb promises an intense story. As I started reading, I realized this book’s way more than that.
Alexandra was an ordinary young woman, until she touches something that shouldn’t have been touched. Now, psychic abilities she cannot understand awaken inside her, taking her on a journey that will change her life. With Jediah’s help, she realizes she’s a Sensate, the most powerful there’s been in two thousand years. As the tides of life begin to turn, Alexandra realizes her destiny isn’t what she thought it’d be and people aren’t always who they say they are. With Jediah’s help she thinks she can conquer it all, but can she trust the one who’s been trying to conquer her for hundreds of years?
I’m not going to say more because I don’t want to reveal the plot. I just loved this book. It was beautifully written, the characters were diverse and vivid, and the storyline drew me in straight away. It kept my attention throughout the entire rollercoaster ride and I was sad to see it end. I can’t wait for book 2 and recommend Larkspur to all fantasy and paranormal readers who like their reads fast paced, with lots of twists and turns along the way. (less)

Only later did I realize there's a hidden meaning in this cover, showing that, interwoven in the story are the lives of different characters as they attend a 12 week chakra workshop and experience a major shift in their lives. During this workshop, as characters come and leave, the reader's taught how the energy of healing and different people can leave a mark on one. To be honest, when I started this book I expected a formal handbook with explanations what chakras are, how they work, and how blockages can be removed. However, I was wrong. The Chakra Diaries offers a unique way to teach the reader how energy impacts one's life by giving peeks into the diary entries of the main characters and their lives, their experiences, disappointments and happy moments.
This is definitely different than any other book I've read. It isn't just a story; the book offers a glimpse of the different stages people go through to attain the ultimate. There is Drama. Loss. Guilt. Redemption. Love. Strength. And in the end there's happiness and forgiveness. All in all, this is a well written, entertaining, and thought provoking read I enjoyed.(less)

The plot focuses on Elrenia, who is not your usual heroine. Elrenia can hear voices no one else can hear, voices who guide her life and protect her from harm. The book starts with Elrenia trying to get away from an ex she still has feelings for. As she's about to board a plane, her intuition tells her not to and so she's spared from a horrible incident. Trying to fit the puzzle pieces together Elrenia doesn't know that she's become the target of a killer who'll stop at nothing to conclude what he's started. I love a good mystery and this is one of those I wasn't able to put down. Kueh has a distinctive voice and a talent for drawing the reader and leaving clues without telling too much so the mystery remains one until the very end. Elrenia was a fascinating character struggling to come to terms with past demons. All in all, this was a suspenseful book I'd recommend.(less)

That's why she's being offered a spot in a very exclusive private school in Scotland. Upon her arrival, she meets Hunter and they hit it off straight away. Hunter's funny and cute, and she falls for him quickly. But Hunter's also free spirited and adventurous, two qualities that get him in trouble most of the time. But conquering her flame's heart, even though he's never been one to play fair...or faithful, aren't Zoey's only worries. Strange things begin to take place at her new school: dreams and visions that seem eerily real. Zoey and Hunter soon begin to unravel a past long forgotten. Or is it? As Zoey and Hunter lose themselves in the school's past, they don't yet realize their quest to discover the truth might just draw dangerous attention upon them.
The Possession of Zoey is a fast read that kept me hooked from page one. I absolutely loved the vivid imagery of the new school, an old castle in the middle of Scotland. Hunter's such a funny and lighthearted character. He's the perfect love interest, the guy whose heart has never belonged to anyone. Zoey is more broody and intense, and has a few secrets of her own. Secrets that put her life in danger. This was a brilliant book that ended with a cliffhanger I thoroughly enjoyed. I hope the next installment will be out soon because I'm dying to find out what happens next.(less)

It starts off pretty fast paced: Dean is young man leaving in world infested by zombies, but it wasn't always like this. Before a virus claimed the world and most of its inhabitants, he led a sheltered life with his parents and brother, Nick. Nick is a pilot now, who risks his life on a daily basis to help those who haven't been infected yet by keeping them safe. Dean has always looked up to his brother. He's always wanted to be like him so when he meets Val, who's just been infected by the virus, Dean is hell bent on saving her. Without telling his brother, he steals a few vials of a new trial treatment against the virus and hides Val inside Nick's helicopter, then persuades him to fly them out of their safe fortress to the nearest city. His plan is to take Val away before she's being executed and then wait until the virus kicks in so he can administer the new treatment to save her. But when the helicopter crashes, leaving them in the middle of zombie-infested territory, and Nick discovers Val, all of Dean's plans are thrown overboard. Slowly but steadily, secrets are revealed and new allies and adversaries join the little crew on their way out of the danger zone.
This was a great, action packed book that kept me turning the pages late into the night. Nick is a great character, who matures as the story progresses. He's likeable and has a sharp mind and a strong will to survive. I really liked that about him. My favorite character was Lucas, who's a bit of a tech whizz, because he was funny and a great friend. The writing was at times funny, at times sad, but consistently filled with tension and drama. I can't wait to see where the story goes in the sequel.(less)

In Book one, Sarah entered Victor’s world by chance when she stepped through a portal in time that once swallowed up her sister. Sarah’s struggling to find her way in this new world. Even though adjusting doesn’t come easily, she’s tough and won’t give up her quest to solve the mystery about her sister’s disappearance. When first signs appear that something horrible happened to Liz, Sarah’s determined to find her no matter what. But to do so she must risk her own life by exposing herself to her pursuers. The Immortal Court is not pleased that Victor shared the Ruby Ring with his new wife, Sarah. For his reckless behavior, he must be punished with death, and so must Sarah. More than ever before, Victor’s determined to save both Sarah’s and his life…even if it means going against her will. So he hunts her down wherever she’s going, watching her, helping her to learn to use her powers, keeping them alive when in reality all he wants is her.
The romance part was definitely heating up in this book. I found myself blushing a few times and wishing Victor wasn’t just a figment of the author’s imagination. The second book of the series also has more drama, more action, and an ending that left me wishing there was another book in the series so I would get to continue following the characters’ lives. Eternal Destiny was definitely one of those emotional reads you cannot put down. If you love your males strong and your heroines funny and stubborn, and a good romance that also offers a bit of a mystery, this is the book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can only recommend it. (less)

On yet another investigative mission, Sarah and her researcher team arrive at the scene where her sister was last seen. But something's different this time. They hear strange noises; something's watching them. Not knowing what's going on, Sarah enters the cave and steps through a portal in time. Suddenly, she finds herself in a different world, followed by deadly giants who almost kill her...until she's saved by a mysterious immortal king. Victor claims to know who she is, and even though he despises her for no apparent reason, he wants to make her his. Now Sarah must do everything in her power to stay alive...even if it means marrying the enemy who could find out she's not who he thinks she is...
I loved this book. The writing is fantastic. The story building isn't your typical paranormal romance, but includes time travel and mystery elements as Sarah has to find out what really happened to her sister while trying to save her own life. Sarah's such a lovable heroine who cares about others while Victor's strong and determined to crush his enemies and keep the woman he desires. The attraction between the two was sizzling hot. There were quite a few twists and turns I didn't see coming, and the ending left me eager to pick up the next book. All in all, a really good book I'd recommend to readers of paranormal fiction who enjoy a bit of romance, humor and mystery. (less)

Everyone thinks it’s the result of gangs fighting, but Justice, the only survivor, knows something else is going on and whatever’s to blame might just be inside him. Fast forward fifteen years and the girl who watched the murder scene when her father investigated, twenty-something-year-old Jes, is a detective who hasn’t forgotten the mystery was never solved. She knows who or, better said, what Justice is because she was gifted the same powers with the only difference that she hasn’t used them…yet. Even though she believes Justice to be a murderer, she vows to find him because there’s something she needs from him. Not only can he shed some light on what really happened on that fateful night fifteen years ago and why he was forced to turn at such a young age, he’s also the only person who knows something about her parents’ disappearance.
I’m a big fan of the paranormal /dark fantasy genre but that’s not why I liked this book so much. From the very beginning The Fallen One has an eerie gothic atmosphere and as the plot moves forward the tale becomes even spookier. The characters are deep and described in such vivid detail that I had no trouble imagining them. The setting is unique, and the background story is something that hasn’t been done before. What impressed me the most, however, was the writing. It’s easy to read but at the same time lyrical with beautiful description and the mystery that engulfs both Jes and Justice had me spell-bound. There’s plenty of action, drama, and a blossoming romance.
This is a must read and I’m looking forward to great things from this series. I hope the second book will be out soon. (less)
