Darcy is different from the rich girl on that show though. Although her dad is a successful motivational speaker and starter of the company Tri!Umphant! Harvest, Darcy is pretty down to earth. She attends private school and drives an Audi but she prefers staying home and reading. She isn't in the big popular crowd. She has one really great best friend Sal. When her Audi is repossessed and her dad disappears she does freak. She wants to find the money to get her car back like any teenager would. But then she realizes there are a lot more important things than a car.
She reconnects with her Uncle Charlie that she hasn't seen since she was little. He has a hot repair guy Lucas that soon becomes one of her best friends. Liz owns a coffee shop next door where she works. Darcy soon has a new family. She takes on all the responsibilities while her mom is falling apart. She still has hope her father will return. If it was me honestly I probably wouldn't even want my dad to come back. To leave when all the crap is hitting the fan. When they need his help to pull it together. When they have no money.
Lucas was very sweet. Darcy even calls him Lancelot because he likes to be a white night and save the day. I liked that their relationship took a long time to bloom. They were friends first and Lucas was there for her when she needed him. Darcy is busy trying to figure out where they are going to live so it makes sense that he wouldn't want to push her into something at this time in her life even though Darcy continues to swoon over him. It was a cute story but it just felt a little bit flatter than I was hoping. Cute romance but it dragged in places. I liked all the changes Darcy went through and how she accepted her new life....more

Lexie's brother, Ty, committed suicide at age 16. A popular, basketball star, with tons of friends and yet decided to end it in only his junior year of high school. And she feels horrible guilt. Why did he do it? And why didn't she see the signs? Why didn't she talk to him? Why couldn't she help him? Should she blame her dad for leaving them? His ex-girlfriend? Life doesn't have simple answers though.
Lexie pushes her friends away. Like you would expect she is having a really hard time dealing with her grief. Her therapist told her to write a journal so there is a mixture of journal entries and her recalling her past with her brother. Lexie also tries to figure out if there was a specific reason why he decided to end his life that day. She connects with his old friends and girlfriend.
Dealing with a death in the family affects everyone differently. There is no right way to help a friend or daughter or girlfriend out of it. Some of her thoughts and reactions are definitely ones I was familiar with and other ones were not. Lexie reconnected with a neighbor that helped her through it but then it was sad because her best friend was trying so hard to help. But sometimes you just need the unexpected.
I loved Lexie's boyfriend Steven. He was the cutest, sweetest, math nerd. Such a good guy! Lexie needed time though and pushed him away too. I loved that he really never gave up on her though. And as mean to him as she was he would come when she needed him. The flashbacks to their past were so sweet, adorable, and romantic! I really wanted them to find their way back to each other.
While I normally don't read sad books I took a chance on this one because I loved the Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand and I'm glad I did. It was really moving. At the end the author shares that her own brother committed suicide at age 17 while she was age 20. The book is fiction but I definitely think those real feelings of loss came through in her writing and made this a really touching, realistic, important, and worthy read.
"Happy six months. Which is precisely 183 days." You consulted your watch. "Which is 4,392 hours. Which is 263,520 minutes. Which have been some of the best minutes of my life. So far." God, you were so sexy. Irresistible.

It was so great having all Seth and no Aiden in my way! About time Seth was the star. When I first heard of this book I thought it might take place while Seth was serving Hades but it takes place about a year after the events that took place during Sentinel. Seth is serving Apollo and Apollo has a mission for Seth. Protect the girl.
Seth still feels bad about what happened with Alex and he doesn't think he deserves love and forgiveness. He doesn't want history repeating itself and this girl reminds him of Alex. He realizes he is very protective if her. There is both Seth and Josie's perspectives which I like because it makes the story so much more clear and we know both their true feelings.
I loved that Deacon and Luke were back. They are such characters. Hilarious and sweet. Sentinel Solos and Alex's Uncle Marcos also make appearances. History is repeating itself but finally Seth gets the girl!!! We are in new adult territory so we finally get some sexy sexy Sethie scenes! Lots of new battles to face. Can't wait for the next. Things just got started. That was my only reason for not a full five stars. I felt like things moved a bit slow. It was a good set up but just not quite as exciting as I was expecting.
"What are you?" she asked, her nose scrunching as she spoke. "Other than a heart-stopping hot guy with obvious boundary issues and problems with anger management?" I blinked at her. She thought I was a heart-stopping hot guy? Well, of course she did.
"Say that I'm not just the Apollyon," he whispered, his voice harsh. Tears built in my throat. "You're not just the Apollyon, Seth." His eyes drifted shut, his face tensed as his fingers splayed across my cheeks. "I don't even know who I am anymore. Or what I ever was." Oh goodness, that ripped right through my chest. "You're just...you're just Seth." A tremor moved through his arms. "And you...you're just my salvation."

My major worry waI absolutely loved the first book, Greta and the Goblin King! I have been dying for this book and I'm so happy it didn't disappoint. My major worry was that there wouldn't be enough Isaac. LOL I mean I'm not sure there can ever really be enough but I was still happy that even though this story has Greta making a journey on her own Isaac is never far from her thoughts or dreams. If you have not read the first book and met this sexy and sweet Goblin King then you really must!
I love the fantasy setting. I'm not a big fantasy reader but this world doesn't confuse and I just love it. Greta beat the big bad from the first book, Agramon, but sadly her troubles are not over. First she has to face discrimination. Isaac wants her to be his queen (insert dreamy sigh here) but the people of Mylena will not be letting a human queen take over so easily. Plus something isn't quite right with her ever since she defeated Agramon. The fairies claim they can help so she ventures to the Glass Kingdom for answers.
In Mylena no journey is easy and no one is trustworthy. I could never guess what would happen next. Lots of surprises and twists and turns and unexpected betrayals. Unexpected heartbreak. Wyatt also hasn't completely left the picture. He was a sweet guy but I wasn't a huge fan of him in the first book. I definitely saw more of his loyalty, bravery, and carrying nature in this book. While he wasn't quite over Greta I didn't feel like the love triangle was dragging on. I really didn't feel like it was ever actually a triangle. Greta's heart and mine as well belong to the Goblin King! The ending was great although left quite a few things hanging. I'm just dying to see where the gang will go next and how they will react to this new development! I really hope the wait for the third book isn't quite as long as the wait for this one but either way I'm sure it will be worth it!
"Visiting the provinces has made me realize it's far past time I make it clear to one and all that my heart is claimed and my commitment to you is true."
"Come on, you know you want to get some alone time with me." "I know how fond you are of ravishing me in closets," he whispered with a grin. She shook her head. "One time...and you're never going to let me forget it, are you?" "But when I do get you alone again, I don't want to be rushed." The Great Mother save her, that sounded hot.
"Please, Isaac. I just want..." "What wishes do you make of me now?" His voice was a low murmur that teased the wispy strands at her temple until she felt the hesitant press of his lips. "I'll grant every one."
"I'd prefer that you never let me go," he said, suddenly serious. "But if you must, know that because of you I will never truly be Lost. You can always call me back."

Cara Sweeney has been picked to take an exchange student from another planet. L'eihr wants to make an alliance with Earth and exchanging students is a great way for everyone to get to know each other and become more comfortable. Aelyx, pronounced A-licks, arrives but his differences make the transition difficult. He hates the food, all the colors and practically everything else. Cara makes an effort to help him fit in and eventually she starts to see more to him.
An alien exchange program isn't supported by all. Protesters begin staking out their school and life for Cara becomes more and more difficult. Her ex-best friend, her ex-boyfriend and the rest of the school have ostracized her for supporting the program. There are the few L'annabe's as they call themselves that support the program. Aelyx and the other two exchanges students aren't as supportive as they seem. They have a plan to stop this alliance but as Aelyx and one other exchange student start to enjoy life on earth everything will soon blow up in their faces.
Aaelyx was quite a character. When he first arrives it is hard to like him because he seems really pretentious, snooty, distant, and kind of robotic. Things on his planet are more advanced so he talks down to everyone on Earth. His behavior gave me a few chuckles though. His perspective was interesting. They have different social rules and don't date for fun. They are paired up. Cara slowly brings him out of his shell and I began to really like him.
Cara was hesitant to accept the program but she never goes back on her word. Even when everyone is against her she stays strong and tries her very best to make Aeylex comfortable and to treat him well. She even gets him to want to try kissing. It was an unbelievably hot kissing scene. Cara and Aeylex do get rather serious quickly but they face a lot of problems. It ends a bit open with Earth and L'eihr still far from an alliance. I was really sucked into the story and had a really good time reading it. Very excited to see where it goes next. As a big alien and Roswell fan I found the book perfect for me.
--- Aelyx shrugged. "To be honest, I don't know what qualities you ever saw in him. I can tell why he chose you, but-" "Oh yeah?" Cara's spirits lifted as she sensed a compliment coming on. "Why do you think he chose me?" "It's obvious." He swept a hand to indicate her loose curls. "Your long, shiny hair, healthy skin, and bright eyes show that you're well-nourished." "Uh, thank you?"
"Does the Outer Space Creep probe you in your sleep?"
"I wanna talk to the A-Licker."
"I studied your history while I was still on L'eihr." And with a smirk that had become his own personal signature, he added, "It didn't take long." He returned his attention to the copy of Advanced Binuclear Theories the science teacher had lent him. Maybe he should read How to Avoid Acting Like a Pretentious Ass instead. ...more
