I don't how Gordon always catches me off guard! Maybe because she keeps me up reading all night. The Rise is a masterful blend of heart racing action, fear, betrayal, and unyielding love.
The Montgomery sisters take us on a dark journey in book 3, more secrets to be discovered, and some one is tested to the brink (and way past) of insanity.
And through it all Alexa's Libra, Kayden, is steadfast in his support of Alexa.
But the Question is what happened to Jackson? Will Alexa learn about his secrets?
Ms. Gordon is a master. Extremely fast paced action, desperation, insanity, loss, and love, she will put you through the ringer in this one. You will feel exactly how she intends you to feel. Some people will die and you can't seen really care and others will make you cry. The series is unlike any other, pure perfection.
I really can't say much more because there are things that I do not want to spoil all the fun!
While I do readily admit struggling a bit with the first two (as I do with most authors 1st works) the payoff is most certainly worth it. Book 3 was awesome and A.M. Hargrove is one author to watch. It maybe just because I am not really big into sci-fi but never the less I am really glad I stayed with the series it is different and thoroughly enjoyable!
Rating - 4 stars!

You have an endearing heroine, a couple of sexy potential book boyfriends, and a great urban fantasy stage set.
Dawn, a vampire, has been training all her life and never been allowed to put her training to use. When her father finally decides to give her a "safe" assignment she is sent to a small town to train four misfit vampires to be the towns new guardians. But not all is at it seams in Angel Creek and must figure out who to trust and exactly what is going on.
I can't say much more than that, I don't want to be giving away any of the mystery. Absolutely check out this series for yourself I have a good feeling about this one!

Valerie Williams is a teenage socialite who seems to have it all. Designer clothes, a cute jock boyfriend, popularity and all the perks that come with it. She receives an allowance and is never short on funds to get the most expensive and current fashion forward clothes. While planning to buy her prom dress her mother drops a bomb on her life... no more allowance... she has to get a job. So she does what every teenager would do in her position... has a complete hissy fit! Does not help her though, the next day she is forced to go to work with her mom.
She has no idea her mom is a tooth fairy and she is going to love her job. We follow Valerie on her journey through her new job and while she discovers just how shallow she has been. While I was frustrated with her mistakes I cheered her on to make better decisions and deal with her problems.
Recommended for older teens and adults, this would be a great book to read with the teen in your life and give you opportunities to talk about the issues Valerie goes through and how she handles them. Rating - 4 Stars(less)

In Altered you get a Louisiana Bayou adventure. Jenna Larson is an 18 year old on summer vacation before her senior year in a small town in the mysterious humid Bayou in the deep south. Visiting her “Pops” for the entire summer is just what she had in mind and a trip she makes every summer, a nice lazy summer soaking up the suns glorious rays…
While sunning herself she thinks she hears her voice being called into the words, so she does what any sane girl her age would do… follows it into the woods silly! Ok I know you wouldn’t do that and neither would I. However Jenna is the curios sort and this is her story so we let her. She finds a dilapidated cabin and incidentally finds a cursed book (hence why I would have never had went in the woods).
I digress! Anywho… she starts having odd dreams that night and weird things happening with said cursed book… To be fair there is a rose on the cover as well but you try finding that picture, besides I like the snake, very creepy.
The next day Jenna heads into town to the local hang out with two old friends and while catching up and eating pizza she spots a boy across the restaurant. She catches his eye as well and soon he attempts the cutest opening line. Enter Jess Parkin our very mysterious 19 year old bad boy with bright blue eyes…
Yep you know I am a sucker for the dark hair, blue eyes, bad boy type! I won’t get into too much more because I don’t want to spoil anything but Jess is a mystery to Jenna and is instantly drawn to those baby blues (can’t blame a girl for that). While falling into a forbidden love Jenna has a supernatural mystery and a cursed book on her hands, not to mention some family secrets.
I struggled very much with my rating for this one because I did enjoy the story so much but there were a few issues I had with the book. Mainly the ending, don’t worry I won’t spoil it but I will just say that a couple of the events were not believable to me and the ending feels very abrupt.
With all that being said I do recommend it.
This is a great book to share and read with a teenager in your life!

I mean wow what a cast of hunky men! I really enjoy books based on the fae and this one did not disappoint. Rayla was a likable heroine and I loved the twists and turns her love life takes. I do enjoy a good love triangle or square but sometimes they can be over done and annoying. But I really enjoyed this one and it kind of sneaks up on you. I am really looking forward to the next one.
Ms Rich's debut novel is a winner and I am a fan!
Now the pics!
Ok let's get Rayla out of the way...
Now let's go for Mr. Tall dark and extremely sexy Zach, I am a total sucker for the black hair blue eyes...
The extremely dark Jett...I couldn't decide between these two so you get both because one can never have to many pictures of half naked guys ;-)
Taylor the hot latin lover...
Finn... the fabulous Celtic dream, let's face it there is NEVER anything wrong with a man in a kilt!
And lastly but certainly not least is Luke the blond god! Now I know what you are thinking "That's Nic's favorite cause there are so many" but it's simply not true. For me the jury is still out on Luke BUT I just always get carried away pulling pics of Alex Pettyfer.... how can you not?

On my review of Enchantment I said it was a sweet love story... if that's true Taken it's slight darker counterpart. While I really enjoyed Enchantment I lovedTaken. I had not expected to like Enchantment so much when I picked it up but it pleasantly surprised me. Taken pulled me out of my chair into a gripping adventure, it was absolutely more my style. I still feel like you can safely let your teens read this series and enjoy it with them. It still has the same charm and wittiness of book 1 but as the saga progresses we gets pulled deeper into Channie and Josh's magical word and the endearing love story.
Charlotte Abel has proven that she can stand the heat and keep producing magical adventures for her fans to get lost in and I plan to have a front row seat!
This is just the Blurb I wrote after reading the ARC, I will finish it and still do one of my full reviews soon! But it just released so I wanted to get something up!
READ it!!!!! It's another steal at .99 cents just like Enchantment, highway robbery!

Ms. Harris did a great job keeping the dialog modern and events current. This was not my typical Paranormal YA book, in fact there are no paranormal elements to it but I still enjoyed it. I think the characters seemed a bit immature for high School students but it would be a perfect book for junior high school kids and teens. They would enjoy reading something with the older kids in it but also would not me exposed to any situations suited for the older crowd.
It had a mystery surprise at the end and would recommend for anyone looking to share a book with their teen either to read with or give as a gift.
As always thank you to the author and Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! read to review program!
Let first say that Masquerade was dipped in awesomesauce with a side of superb! This book was beautifully written. I loved the different points of view throughout the book and the characters were lovable and fierce at the same time which is my favorite combination.
We have Heven, who you get to know in Before as a popular girl who has it all. She is about to be named captain of the cheer team, has the gorgeous best friend/ wing woman, and is about to start dating Brice the majorly hot football player. Sounds like a great fantasy right?
It's shattered because soon after that there is an accident and Heven is left disfigured with scars on half her face. Now in Masquerade we find Heven hiding from the world. Gone is the confident carefree cheerleader, what is left is a girl trying to survive.
I love Heven because we journey with her through her self discovery of self-worth. I don't want to go on and list all the things about Heven that I love because I think you will discover them for yourselves and I don't want to spoil anything. Let's just say she is a kick-butt teenage heroine that mom's all over the world can be assured that their daughters have found a stunning positive role model.
Next we have Sam... I really can't say too much about Sam without spoiling some things except that he is such a sweetheart! Let me see what I can tell you about Sam... there is not really a stereo type I can give you because he is a little bit of everything all rolled up into one nice package. Sam spots Heven one day and it changes his world. He is disparately in love with her and just wants to watch her and keep her safe. But Sam also has a dark secret...
Staring in my fantasy's this week was Garrett Hedlund as Sam. With his flashing hazel/gold eyes, strong body, and good looks we have one yummy character.
This was an absolute MUST read! Ms. Hebert is an author to keep you eye on because I have a feeling this is just the start of a parade of amazing books we are going to see from her. I am a fan and I will be reading anything she puts out now!
Thank you to Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! the BEST group on goodreads! And to the lovely and talented Ms. Cambria Hebert wicked cool book girl!
I would change absolutely NOTHING about this book.

To me it had a very Edward and Bella feel to it. The start of their romance seemed to have to same characteristics with Tristan being so hot and cold and Kalista falling so hard and fast. I found that I still had allot of questions when it ended like exactly what is the Ylem? Maybe we are not supposed to know yet (obviously) but still I would like to know since it is the title of the book I just read.
It was an interesting story but I really don't want to get into the plot to much because I think maybe it would spoil the way the books reads and what it discovered when.
Instead here it the description from goodreads...
An ancient book, a seventeen-year-old girl and an exotic boy from a supernatural world hold the key to freedom for a long-oppressed race, but that freedom could come at the cost of the human world.
Seventeen-year-old Kalista is suffering from a broken heart, so when her playwright father proposes they move their lives from New York to New Mexico because he is in need of inspiration Kalista is 100% on-board with him. New Mexico proves to be the perfect balm for her wounds and she is just starting to feel some of her old spunk when Tristan Winfield comes into her life and pulls all of her barriers down. Kalista is captivated by Tristan's unusual silver eyes and feels an inexplicable connection to him, which begins to manifest itself in her dreams with bizarre images of a waterfall and an orb.
While searching for an explanation for her troubling dreams, Kalista discovers an ancient book which holds the secrets of a supernatural race of creatures. But when Killings hit town, she realizes her finding has come at a high price. She's in the middle of a power struggle now, and a secret seems to be wrapped within the pages of that book. A secret she and Tristan are part of...
So I would say this is a good read, and would be appropriate for a younger teen as well as entertaining for the older YA readers as well. It is definitely worth it to check it out and is an inexpensive ebook!

This Valentines Day I fell in Love with Jennifer L. Armentrout. I had been hearing through the grapevine about JLA an one particular grape has been rather loud about her work. So with all the faith that Kay @ K-books knows what she is talking about I picked up Obsidian first chance I had to read one of "my choice" reads. And now I can officially jump on Ms. Armentrout's space ship and enthusiastically follow her anywhere...
I am not usually a big sci-fi reader but there are a few I can like, well I guess now there is one I LOVE and that is the Lux series. Which is actually quite refreshing! Some Authors try to capture true sarcastic personalities and wittiness in their characters but JLA masters it. There is a delicate line that must not crossed for you to truly appreciate the humor in it without turning you off to the character. You just fall for this highly passionate and combustable relationship between Kat and Daemon in Obsidian. You never know if the are going to kiss or kill each other and you can get lost into the journey with them.
If you have not read this series yet you are seriously missing out! It's extraordinary!
I also love the quirky personality in Kat and the way she stands up to the enigma that is our sexy arrogant devastatingly handsome Daemon. One of my favorite Kat quotes...
“Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys.”
And doesn't that just say it all!
So yes I will be eagerly awaiting the Prequel due out February 21st & the second book Onyx May 15th 2012. As well as purchasing everything that this budding new author has out.
And the other good news is that I have already stalked her website and google and gotten you all the links you will need to properly follow her along, in what I am sure with be a very long and extremely successful writing career.
This one gets my top rating above the five stars it was - BEAST!
And of coarse as always I will leave you with what I dug up and the characters. This one is easy becuase the cover is fabulous and matches the characters perfectly. Although there was not nearly enough pictures of the the models for my liking but here is what I was able to find...
