This was an action packed read. A nice change is the paranormal genera. Deacon Chase's family was killed by vampires and now his only goal is to kill monsters until one takes him out so that he may join his family. Deacon is not your typical hero, he is a 6'4 320 pound bad boy with a bad attitude... and a good Catholic. He owns a strip club that helps fund his fight and has taken in anyone who has had a run-in with the monsters. Shaved head, goatee, and covered in tattoos her appearance just screams trouble. He has no interest in women and just lives for vengeance. Maybe that might change in later books and as a lover of paranormal romance I really think I can love this series regardless if we cross that bridge. I am looking forward this series and you have a new fan Mr. Tuck!

Found a couple of pics that could pass for Deacon...
Let first say that Masquerade was dipped in awesomesauce with a side of superb! This book was beautifully written. I loved the different points of view throughout the book and the characters were lovable and fierce at the same time which is my favorite combination.
We have Heven, who you get to know in Before as a popular girl who has it all. She is about to be named captain of the cheer team, has the gorgeous best friend/ wing woman, and is about to start dating Brice the majorly hot football player. Sounds like a great fantasy right?
It's shattered because soon after that there is an accident and Heven is left disfigured with scars on half her face. Now in Masquerade we find Heven hiding from the world. Gone is the confident carefree cheerleader, what is left is a girl trying to survive.
I love Heven because we journey with her through her self discovery of self-worth. I don't want to go on and list all the things about Heven that I love because I think you will discover them for yourselves and I don't want to spoil anything. Let's just say she is a kick-butt teenage heroine that mom's all over the world can be assured that their daughters have found a stunning positive role model.
Next we have Sam... I really can't say too much about Sam without spoiling some things except that he is such a sweetheart! Let me see what I can tell you about Sam... there is not really a stereo type I can give you because he is a little bit of everything all rolled up into one nice package. Sam spots Heven one day and it changes his world. He is disparately in love with her and just wants to watch her and keep her safe. But Sam also has a dark secret...
Staring in my fantasy's this week was Garrett Hedlund as Sam. With his flashing hazel/gold eyes, strong body, and good looks we have one yummy character.
This was an absolute MUST read! Ms. Hebert is an author to keep you eye on because I have a feeling this is just the start of a parade of amazing books we are going to see from her. I am a fan and I will be reading anything she puts out now!
Thank you to Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics! the BEST group on goodreads! And to the lovely and talented Ms. Cambria Hebert wicked cool book girl!
I would change absolutely NOTHING about this book.

I'll just start typing and telling you about the story and see where that takes me…
We will start with Mercy; she is a 16 year old high school student who is half a succubus. She discovered this during her first kiss when she almost killed her now best friend Paul. Mercy is a smart girl and one of the fun things in the story is her use of her SAT words. Every day she has one for the day and it is comical how they end up being used. Now I read some reviews and I know there were some issues with corrections that needed to be made, let me just say that Shannon Dermott (the author) gave me the edition of the book and I had no grammar and spelling problems with this edition.
All right now I am going to tackle what I didn’t like so we can just get it out of the way and get back to the good stuff because there was plenty of it, it will be like ripping off a Band-Aid.
I do like a good Love tri-angle but this one is more like a hexagon, I don’t know at what point it got a wee bit ridiculous for me but I do know it got there. Half-way through and maybe even three-quarters through I began getting antsy and irritated with the Mercy’s man fan club. I do realize she is a succubus so yeah … hello boys! But it still seemed a bit much. I tell you this now not because I think it should be different but because if you read this book I don’t want you so get frustrated and give up. I promise the payoff for finishing it will be worth it! In fact I dare to say I think all of that is forgiven.
The other thing that I didn’t like was how much Mercy misses clues going on around her, she is not written as a half-wit character so why can’t she see what is going on around her when it is so obvious that she needs more information form the people around her. It’s like watching a horror film and you just want to scream at the girl running around in her nightgown for doing the most idiotic things.
There were a couple of few minor issues I had with it but I am not going to pick at it.
Ok now back to the good stuff… Let talk about boys now ;-)
Let’s introduce you to the “Mercy’s man fan club”
First we have Paul, first kiss (almost killed him) now he is one of her best friends, kissing thing didn’t work out too well, but of course he secretly pines for Mercy. Paul is our geek chic.
Next let’s go to the boy next door Luke. Luke is the boyfriend, son of a preacher, football star, and all around nice guy.
We have a couple others in the fan club that get little attention and minor flirting along the way but I am just staying with the main men. How about Sebastian now? He is our super bad boy, no moral compass to speak of and is a dangerous beauty combined with a devil may care smile and we have what all girls with Daddy issues would call the perfect man ;-)
I saved my favorite for last! Flynn our resident misunderstood bad boy, yummy!
Oh and it is very appropriate that I imagine Leto as Flynn since Mercy is a big 30 seconds to Mars fan!
So overall I was VERY happy with this book, like I said most of what I had problems with in the end made sense to me. But let me tell you one more thing, at the end of the book my face was like this for a few hours….
I was left with a lot of questions at the end of the book and you could have probably could have convinced me that my nook was missing a few chapters of the book I still feel a bit like this about it…
But all that means in the author did her job; she wrapped it up in a nice package but left you desperately wanting more! I will absolutely read the next one and highly recommend this one.

She is strangly fascinated by James even though bringers are not suppossed to have emotions, so what is a girl to do? Right! Stalk him! LOL
This is a tough one to review for me...
First the good stuff. I really enjoyed the story, very different and surprising. Quite a few surprises in this one not at all predictable (to me anyways). Allot of heart in this book, just a romantic tale about star-crossed lovers. No adult stuff so good for teenagers as well.
Now for what I didn't like. Lucyna's inner mono-logging was a bit long winded and tiresome. The first half of the book was hard to get through for me because of that.
However as always I am glad I finished it because sometimes you can't tell a book by it's first half. This in another one that would be great for mothers and daughters to share.
Bottom line 3.5 stars and read it for yourself I would love to hear what you think of it as well.

Kristina Douglas’s sexy new series introduces a realm of fallen angels and ruthless demons, where an eternal rebellion is brewing . . . and one unsuspecting woman can change the fate of the Fallen forever. She was just an ordinary mortal . . .
“You’re dead” is so not what Allie Watson wants to hear. Unfortunately, it explains a lot. Like the dark, angelically handsome man who ferried her to this strange, hidden land. The last thing she remembers is stepping off a curb in front of a crosstown bus. Now she’s surrounded by gorgeous fallen angels with an unsettling taste for blood—and they really don’t want her around. Not exactly how she pictured heaven.
. . . until death catapulted her into a seductive world she never imagined.
Raziel is unsure why he rescued Allie from hellfire against Uriel’s orders, but she stirs in him a longing he hasn't felt in centuries. Now the Fallen are bracing for the divine wrath brought by his disobedience, and they blame Allie for the ferocious Nephilim clawing at the kingdom’s shrouded gates. Facing impossible odds at every turn, the two must work together to survive. Raziel will do anything to defend his spirited lover against the forces of darkness—because Allie may be the Fallen’s only salvation.
This book was really different and enchanting, pick it up and give it a try!...more
