On one hand I could not wait to read about Bones (Mmmmm Bones) and Cat since it felt it was so long since their last book, but at the same time I was afraid to read it knowing that after this book I would have to say goodbye to these two and never see them again. The book was a bittersweet tribute to all the fans that have followed Cat and Bones from the beginning providing them a book that not only provided twist and turns in the plot and drama but, was the culmination of Cat and Bones' devotion for each other and the lengths that each would strive to protect the most important person in their lives: each other. - See more at: http://www.bittenbyromance.com/2014/0...(less)

Sometimes you see a train wreck and you can't help to look and find out what is happening and with these characters I couldn't look away from these train wrecked people and I wish I did. Book 2 continues where Book 1 left off with Raine trying to sort out her feelings for the two men in her life who have come to mean so much to her. Unfortunately, she is unable to see that her inability to give herself completely to either one of them is tearing the men apart from the inside out. - See more at: http://www.bittenbyromance.com/#sthas...(less)

Don't get me wrong there were several very intense scenes that were steaming hot and would still be classified as a paranormal romance, but it were the lonely times that the main character had to endure that broke my heart for him. It was a very compelling story that had me craving to learn more about the intriguing circumstance of the lead character.
Eirik had the misfortune of being born during the bewitching hour and cursed by a powerful being that had caused him to be born extremely disfigured. The moments after his birth and the disgust that people had towards him and he could sense were heartbreaking, bringing me to tears as I could clearly hear his cries of sorrow for the rejection he felt. The next part made me cry even more as his father cradled him in his arms and tenderly held him, kissed him and told him how much he loved him, soothing infant Eirik. These two two scenes will stay with me for a long time and still brings me to tears as I write this piece because it sets the stage for the this kind, and gentle soul shunned by the world and rejected by everyone. It is his love for his parents that provides him with the his only comfort as his body through the years becomes more painfully disfigured. It is a very unusual story dealing with warlocks, witches, Druid lore with the interaction of several key characters who play a role in Eirik's destiny.
Now you may be wondering where is the romance? Well I don't want to give too much away because if I tell you in detail who engages in some very hot scenes it will give too much away of Eirik's story. What I can tell you is that Eirik is not the only one that we see having very intense, passionate scenes. Eirik, on the other hand, proves that behind the monstrous exterior lies a man with a sweet, tender, passionate, loving soul and man intent to giving everything he has for the one he loves and receiving the love back.
I so much wanted to give this story an higher rating, but there were several parts of the book where the sentences were broken up and it made the story loose its flow and most of all made me wonder what was happening. I don't know if this was an issue as to how the file was converted or if it was an existing issue in how the book was originally formatted, but it was very distracting. The other thing is I wished the author provided more details about the plotline, specifically the world building and explanation for some of the turn of events. I had too many questions about who some of the secondary characters were, why were they there and what was their purpose within the story.
Overall in general I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to anyone who would enjoy reading a paranormal romance that has lots of mystery, intrigue, heartache, but most of all a male lead character who you would love to hold in your arms and tell him how much you loved him and expect to be loved passionately in return. Be warned this book is not for the faint at heart and will draw a lot of emotions out of the reader.
Right from the beginning at the Prologue up to the very the end, he story had me glued to the pages relishing the happenings between Thomas and Emma. There was definitely a thriller aspect to the story, but what really drew me to the story were the characters and the sweet tale of a kind-hearted, average girl who happened to catch the eye of a gorgeous multimillionaire and their love for each other which at times were put to extreme tests.
Right from the start the plot of the story is set from Thomas' POV with him reminiscing how he met Emma and his concern over how she will react to what he is going to tell her, unfortunately it becomes much bigger then he could have ever imagined. Not only does he have a ex-girlfriend who wants him back, but a woman who is unstable and capable of doing the unthinkable.
What happens next in the story and throughout is seen from Emma's POV as she deals with the news that her loving husband is having an affair and the length that the other woman will take to make him hers. Many times Emma's faith in herself, in her husband and in herself were put to the test as circumstances made it seem that her life with her gorgeous husband was all a lie. Many scenes were heartbreaking as she was forced to confront her worst fears and to tried to find in herself the truth.
Even though Thomas was a player before he met Emma he really didn't have any negative qualities about himself which made him a very likable character (ok I loved him). He may have a slight dominant and commanding aura about himself, but nothing arrogant or rude about him. Thomas just happened to be an extremely good-looking man and women would through themselves at him (even with Emma by his side), but he only had eyes for Emma which melted my heart for him.
In between the tense moments with Thomas' ex causing havoc with their lives I really enjoy the flashback scenes as Emma would remember how they were when the first met and the tender moments between the two of them. It was during those scenes that really warmed my heart and made me fall more in love with these characters. It showed the true deep of their feelings for each other and at one point allowed Emma to lose some of the insecurities that she still felt. Thomas is one very romantic guy and definitely knows how to make the woman he loves feel special. The sexy scenes between them were steaming hot and they way Thomas worshiped Emma's body, all I can say is she is one lucky woman. :)
Now there very quite a few tearjerker moments, but there was one significant point in the book that was particular heartbreaking that my heart ached for them and I really cared what was going to happen to them. So be prepared with some tissues as you find at times your heart bleeding for both Thomas and Emma. Now the way the book ends it left me wanting more and to know what was going to happen next. Therefore, I am happy to say that there is a sequel in the works and I can't wait to read. Even though there were a few grammatical and structural errors, I have such a vivid imagination it did not deter me. I have a tendency to actually put myself in the story and see it as if I am standing on the side watching everything unfold so it did not hinder the flow too much. Now it may bother some people, but don't let it. This was a wonderful debut book from this author and based on her ability to try and capture the emotional intensity of scenes she is on a great start as an author.

Cherry Stem is a different paranormal romance book then most I have read. Usually the male hero is the paranormal creature (vampire, werewolf, shapeshifter etc.) and the heroine is the mortal who eventually can't resist the charm of the male protagonist. In this Cherry Stem, the heroine is the vampire and the hero is the gorgeous, male mortal, who despite his lack of strength and speed (in comparison to the heroine) still had a strong, dominant, alpha presence that can even make a vampire melt with his gaze and sensuality. What I loved about this story is how despite Cherry being a vampire she still showed her humanity, vulnerability and weaknesses to Alex, who in turn showed her strength, determination and power both in dealing with the challenges that they faced and in love.
Cherry Stem had so much happening that I was glued to the pages. Action, love, betrayal, trust, a sexy ex, intrigue and twists and turns that had me cheering for these two to overcome the obstacles that they faced. I wanted Cherry and Alex to take of hold of the love that was in front of them and to not be afraid of the possibilities. As you can tell I did develop an emotional connection with these two especially Alex. I just don't know to describe it, but there was something about him that made him seem so real and such a wonderful guy that any woman would be lucky to have him (it didn't hurt that was described to look like a yummy Greek God and really knew how to satisfy a woman). There were moments in the book that I did have tears in my eyes because of everything that happened to these two and how they both deserved happiness with each other.
This is one book that paranormal romance fans will enjoy sinking their teeth into and savouring both the bittersweet and sexy, tender moments.
I have been following the Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance series by Felicity E. Heaton since book 1 and I am never disappointed in the care that the author takes in describing in detail the interactions between the lead characters. In Bewitch the author give another fantastic story surrounding love, redemption, and most of all forgiveness.
Payne is half-vampire, half-incubus and he has never accepted his incubus side for some reason which we discover in the novel. I have to say I loved Payne. He has this bad boy vibe going on, but underneath the tough exterior is really a lost soul trying to find a place to fit in and a need to be loved. I was surprised learn about his history and the reason for his self-loathing which made me want to hug him, hold him and make him mine. It amazed me at times that he couldn't see how gorgeous he was not only on the outside, but also on the inside. He just couldn't see himself desirable only as an abomination unworthy of being loved. Oh Payne I love you!
Elissa on the other hand has her own share of pain, but she manages to tackle through obstacles in front of her to achieve her goals. I found Elissa to be a very spirited young witch who wouldn't back down from a challenge and what was right which made her a likable character. Though her doubts clouded her thinking at times she was able to get past them and see the truth: despite the dangers she couldn't stop herself from falling for Payne. I liked Elissa as she was exactly what Payne needed, a kind soul able to push him to where he needed to go in his journey of self-discovery without being very confrontational.
Together these two really burned up the pages, not only with hot steamy sexy scenes, but also with undeniable passion that neither could ignore. The love, the redemption and the forgiveness that was rewarded to each of them pulled at my heart-string and made me love how these two developed a deep understanding and connection for each other.
Now for all those Snow fans out there (including myself) we got a brief glimpse of him in this book, but what you see will make you ache for him and for his own happily ever after. However, you don't have to wait long as the next book in the series is Snow's and I know because of his tortured past it is going to be a tearjeaker. Don't miss out reading this book as you will be in for a delightful treat with a beautiful vampire/incubus willing to fight his basic urges to find out if he can have happiness in the arms of a witch.
I have to first start off by saying I have been waiting for this book for what seems like ages, every since I was left hanging at the end of book 1 wondering what was going to happen next based on the set up. I don't know where to begin to describe the absolutely marvelous job that the author does in not only creating a wonderful world with so much depth and detail, but a story line the has the mystery and intrigue that will keep you glued to the the pages. I can attest to that as this book had me up into the wee morning hours as I couldn't put it down. Thank goodness it was the holidays otherwise I would have been going into work very exhausted and bleary-eyed.
Book 2 continues on where it left off with Asar's son, Bakari, imprisoned in a sarcophagus for five years tricked by the evil goddess Kepi, tormented and tortured during those years in the dark both physically and mentally. Kendra, the youngest Carrigan sister, is driven to find way to break the spell that has kept him imprisoned and as a result ends up breaking more then the spell.
What happens next is a wonderful story not only dealing with lies, deceptions, and retribution, but also focuses on compassion, love, forgiveness and redemption. As Bakari deals with trying to regain control over himself and come to terms with his past, Kendra discovers that love can hit you like a bolt of lightening. Even though Kendra has been bonded to Bakari by the spell she feels that their link goes beyond the physical. As times passes and her sweet and gently way penetrates into Bakari's soul soon Kendra realizes that she wants more if only Bakari will let her in.
I have to say there were moments where it was an emotional rollercoaster ride for me as it pained me to see Bakari's suffering and his self-depreciating outlook and also seeing honorable Bomani's world turned upside down.
I highly recommend this book not only for the amazing storyline, but because of the depth that the author goes into developing the complicated characters and their relationships with each other. This book will have your heart aching for Bakari, Bomani and Kendra, wondering who is behind the betrayal and deception among the Gods and Goddesses, and loving the tender moments in the book.
Now I can't wait for book 3 to come out which should feature the last Carrigan sister, Kit and based on her no-nonsense attitude there should some very fun and teasing moments between her and her future beau.(less)

Despite it having a great plot line and a warlock who seemed very delicious (who wouldn't love a man who is tall, dark, handsome, successful and through in a little mystery) the story seemed to move quickly without developing the depth that I needed to satisfy me. I kept coming back to the story hoping that I would learn more or that more details would be developed, but it never panned out. I really felt that Alex and Laurie came together too quickly and that she accepted the situation and what needed to be done so easily that it lost its charm. Perhaps what threw me off the most was it was never explained what was it about Laurie that made Alex have such a strong connection to her that is seemed magical. As I said earlier I really did like the characters but I felt that they were not given the chance to be fully developed and the situations could have been more in-depth.(less)

This series has brought a new spin to the world of vampires and Immortal Guardians and continues to provided readers with action, mystery, twist and turns, but also a heart-warming romance that will have you swooning to have your own tall, dark and handsome Immortal of your own.
Book 3 starts off 2 years later where book 2 left off and in that time Bastien, who up to this point in time was the villain but has discovered the mistakes of his ways, still trying to fit in with the other Immortals (not that he is really trying or really cares).
I really loved this book on so many different levels. From the development of Bastien and learning about how compassionate and caring he truly is (despite his methods) to the intense actions that occurs as the Immortals try to destroy the ones who may end up destroying them.
In this books we see Bastien in a completely different light. Not only do we learn more about how he thinks we also discover that the methods that he employs are not in disregard for others but because he truly cares in doing what is best for everyone, even if sometimes those choices are not the most popular.
I love how Melanie was able to see beyond the hard exterior that Bastien puts up in front of others and sees the man that he really is. Tender, gentle, caring, loving, compassionate, but most of all honorable. Despite all that has happened she loves him for who he is.
The actions doesn't stop in this book and continues on with the Immortals' battle to destroy their enemies who seem to be closing in, not only in finding Ami, but in discovering and destroying the Immortals. The aspect that had me intrigued (and I hoped it is explored in future books in the series) is the origin of Seth and David along with newcomer Zach who I think we will be seeing more of in the future (I hope so he sounds divine especially in his leather pants).
Overall, this was a great addition to the series and will satisfy both paranormal romance and urban fantasy fans who are looking for action both on the battlefield and off with hunky Immortals. (less)
A Lotus and the Regent is the second book that follows the the keys characters that were first introduced to readers in The Soldier's Louts. This time it is six years later after the first book and focuses on Kamen and his love for an Ausir forced into becoming a Lotus. I have to say I am glad that the author gave us this story because at the end of The Soldier's Lotus the reader was left wondering what would happen to Kamen. He proved to be a kind and loving person who went through so much heartache that you wished for his happily ever after.
I truly enjoyed how the author was able to tie in the other books in the series together and give the reader an understanding regarding the amount of time that had pasted from one book to the next. Even though each book deals with a different tribe they are all interconnected and the books provide a consistent flow in the passage of time (in this case hundreds of years have past from the time of Love Comes Twice).
At first I didn't like Kamen in The Solier's Lotus as he tried to break up the relationship that developed between Darien and Saeri, but in this book he redeemed himself. Kamen proved to be a loving, kind, loyal and protective lover who would do anything to protect the one he loves.
I found Ajalira to be a truly tortured individual who had to endure, in her eyes, shame and defilement all in the name of honour. Despite all the loneliness and pain that she endured she never gave up and kept her spirit to fight on which was very endearing.
The loving relationship that developed between the two of them was just that: full of love and acceptance. The two not only found with each other what they had both been seeking, but also learned that despite all the obstacles that were thrown in their way that through perseverance and dedication their love would survive anything. Just a word of warning this book includes some very intense, hot scenes featuring some bondage, anal play and anal sex.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy stories set in far away places where love endures hardship and flourishes in the arms of a lover completely devoted to showing the other they are worthy of love. That is what you will find with the love between Kamen and Ajalira.
First off I have to say the beginning of the book had me laughing out loud as the author demonstrates her sense of humour by starting off with the line "a priest, a witch and a demigod walk into a bar." Right off the bat I knew this was going to be a different paranormal book and it was.
I was instantly drawn to the idea of a tough, alpha, sexy priest fighting beside a witch and a demigod against the forces of evil and Satan himself. The thing I kept wondering was how long would it take before temptation would grip Riona and Marc and lead them to their fall. Oh and I cannot forget the deliciously handsome and talented demon Jerry thrown into the mix. There were times I didn't know who I wanted Riona to end up with, but she too didn't know which she desired more.
The only thing that bothered me about the story was Riona herself. She would state that she had the hots for one person and in the next scene she is getting hot and heavy with someone else, whether it was with the priest, Jerry the demon or her sexy female neighbour. She would state her deep feelings for someone and in the next breath her libido is in overdrive and she is making out with someone else. I just didn't feel her feelings were sincere or strongly developed.
The story had lots happening in terms of the twists and turns that occurred and despite my feelings for Riona I really want to know what is going to happening next and who is going to win her heart. Unfortunately the ending leaves the reader with a slight cliffhanger where you feel like saying "oh you can't leave me wondering like this" but it does. With Satan playing a game and pulling strings to lead himself to the ultimate victory, I personally can't wait to see what happens in book 2 and how Riona will face off with him.
I highly recommend this book to paranormal romance fans who enjoy snarky comments, humourous lines and cliches and most of all delicious hunks who would sacrifice everything, even their own lives, to prove their love for the woman that sets them of fire.
This was the first book I read with a female Dominant and a male sub (I have read many male Doms and female sub stories) so I kept an open mind on how the interaction would be between these two. While it was different from the usual BDSM books that I read it was enjoyable and did show me another side of the lifestyle.
Grace is investigating a murder of a councilwoman who had connections with an exclusive BSDM and decides to gain access into the club as Domme Mistress Red. It is here where she meets Ray, or I should say, Ray is intrigued by her the moment she comes into the club and manages to make her play a scene with him. The thing I found interesting about Ray is he is a switch, (plays both a Dom and a sub) but it seemed that he naturally prefers the sub role as he has been craving the need for pain and submission since his Master has taken off.
This is where I had some difficulty in connecting with the characters in their growing relationship. Ray is a vampire and yet he doesn't show any characteristics that would distinguish him as one, except for one scene where he takes some blood from a woman's shoulder or drinking a glass of blood, otherwise I would not have known he was a vampire. The other thing that I found hard to connect with either character is I never got to REALLY know them. It seemed that Grace and Ray would play and that would be it. Situations would occur where she would need his assistance, but otherwise I felt no connection. Even during the sexy scenes it just seem lacking any passion. I get that he needs to submit, but I just found Ray too passive and weak (he stated at some point that he submits because he doesn't want to be alone). Grace on the other hand seemed to lack emotions, too bossy and I really didn't like how she would knock down praise he would give her. I also didn't like the fact that she would try to make him to submit to her even when they were outside of a scene and they never negotiated beyond play scenes. It left me not really liking her and the whole Domme aspect. It seemed more like it was a power trip for her to dominate over someone to compensate feelings of her own inadequacies. Unlike other stories where the Doms are focused on meeting the sub's need I didn't get that impress from Grace.
I did feel sorry for Ray as he seems like a very lonely person and both his Master and Grace seemed to only care what they could get out of their interactions with him versus connecting with him. That was the key thing he wanted, someone to love him. He was finally able to stand up for himself in the end and ask for this, but I really don't know if he would truly get what he wants.
Usually reading a BDSM book makes me feel hot and bothered, however, this one left be more bothered then anything else. I know the author stated that she had spoken to Dommes to have a better understanding before writing this book, but I just felt more heartbroken for Ray in the end. Perhaps it is me and not the author, but I just didn't find anything really sexually appealing about Ray and felt my mother instincts kicking in and wanting to give him a hug and letting him know everything will somehow workout. Overall I have to say it was a interesting read and very tame in the BDSM aspects. Readers who are interested in reading about a woman dominating a man may find this book a good one to start off with in this genre.
