First Impressions: From the first second I laid eyes on this book I was positve I would want to read and as soon as I could. The cover alone is breathtaking and so very unique. I love the font used on the books title and the way the model is laying down in what looks like a forest background while she looks down at you with pleading eyes. After reading more about Born Wicked I knew right away this book would be amazing and wow was I right.
My Review: From the first page I was hooked, which is such a great feeling when you know right away the book you are reading will be amazing! The story begins when you meet Cate Cahill and her sisters which were all born into the craft living in an alternate history in 1870s New England. Being a witch is in no way easy especially when she must keep such a secret hidden from others, but mainly from a group called the priests of the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood are rulers and want everything to be pure and Godly. Cate struggles to keep her family safe from the Brotherhood and to hide their true identities, just as she promised her Mother before she passed away. When Cate using magic to find her Mothers hidden journal one day she uncovers a deadly secret within the pages. She yearns to find out more about this prophecy and what she can do to keep it hidden. Cate chooses to search in a banned book store in town owned by Finn and his Mother. As Cate comes to find out more than what she bargained for. She must now learn who to trust... and what lies ahead in her families fate.
I will SO taken back by the precious love story between character's Cate and Finn. Jessica went far and beyond making the reader fall in love with Finn and his hidden love for Cate. I so enjoyed this stunningly beautiful romance and even the heartbreak. I feel a great love story within a book makes more for a interesting and fun read. I found out something new about myself in the process of reading Born Wicked. I have come to love the era in which the book took place; 1800's, a beautiful and simple time. Which is one of my favorite times in history. I so could tell that the author did a lot of research when writing her book to make for a perfect background for the story. Her writing was flawless and smooth. All of the character's main and secondary was so unique and held there own. All in all Born Wicked to me was simply divine and perfect in every way. I could not have asked for a more engaging read.
Final Thoughts: Born wicked is now one of my favorite books I have ever read, and by far the best debut novel in 2012. Oh course that is just my feeling but honestly if you have not read the book please do so and soon. You will not regret you did. (less)

Now I know sometimes a beautiful cover on a book does not always mean the book will be great and it makes people wonder if they should buy or read a book strictly on what the cover looks like and while I had my doubts going into this book if I would like it or not. I am SO glad I decided to pick it up that day at the library because The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers is as amazing as it's cover. I so feel in love with this book with each and every page I read. I read TSSOH in a day and a half. I just could not seem to put it down. The story-line was flawless and intriguing. The character's in the book where likable and interesting. I just found this book to give the reader such a unique tale, and not your average typical paranormal romance novel but something I know that I have never read about before. Just sometimes I can get tired of reading the same type of books all of the time and while those books are fun to read sometime you need a change - a breathe of fresh air; per say and I do believe this book is it. I have never read any work by the author Lynn Weingarten before, heck I had never heard of her until I found this book at my library but I must say she is a brilliant writer. I so hope that Lynn decided to write more books because I would so read them. So, I know I did not go into what the book was about but you can basically read about that in the into above - I mean all you need to know is that this is one of those books you will so be glad you picked up and not just for the gorgeous cover but for the masterpiece that lies with the pages!(less)

I simply adore books about witches, always have. I jumped at the chance to read What The Spell? by Brittany Geragotelis. I was first introduced to Brittany by a mutual author friend, Lori Curwell. Lori told me that Brittany was recently signed with Simon & Schuster after being a self-published author. I found out more info about her books and was soon sent an ARC to review. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing What The Spell? turned out to be.
As the story begins we meet Brooklyn who is about to turn sweet sixteen. Brooklyn longs to fit in, to be somebody special but most of all to be beautiful and popular. She knows she is nothing to look at, plain, and boring. She feels invisible and alone. Her one and only friend happens to be her guidance counselor....yeah pretty lame. Things are about to change...
Brooklyn has a big secret...in which no one else knows, well besides her parents. Brooklyn is a WITCH and on her 16th birthday he parents will un-bound her powers, her birth right. She has waited her whole life to gain these powers and wants to use them to transform herself into someone "everyone" will take notice of. After she receives her powers the first thing Brooklyn does is chance her appearances from head to toe. Long Blonde hair, eyes the color of the ocean, model tall, clear skin, and a rocking body! Wow, what a few spells can do to change boring Brooklyn into America's Top Model.

From as long as she can remember Brooklyn has wanted to be apart of a group at school called "The Elite". A powerful clique of the rich, beautiful, and most popular kids in school. The Untouchables. With Brooklyn's new found beauty and drastic change she hopes to be finally noticed by the group, or even asked to join. Although she discovers being beautiful does not give you a free pass. When "The Elite" do take notice of Brooklyn on her first day back to school she comes to find that being a part of their group is no easy task. She is asked to do a series of tests to pledge her legion to The Elite. Easy, right? Wrong! Using her magic is the only way to completes the tests...and getting caught is NOT an option.
What's a witch to do? Will Brooklyn's new looks and popularity be enough to win The Elite over or will she use her magic for all the wrong reasons?
The Good, The Bad, and the witchy?
What I liked most about this book is the main character growth throughout the story. In the beginning Brooklyn felt very insecure and alone, but once she came into her powers she evolved into a more positive person. I guess the one thing that bugged me about Brooklyn is that once she became this beautiful girl who everyone wanted to be like, she lost her true self. She would do anything, including using magic to be accepted. Along the way she even went as far as changing her inner self her, heart to fit it. I really enjoyed seeing her character grow and change throughout the book.
The story itself was very intriguing and captured my attention right from the start. I loved the use of witchcraft...the spells, and learning about her family's past. I found the book hard to put down, always wanting to find out what would happen next to Brooklyn. The authors writing style was very smooth and has a elegant flow from page to page. A fantastic book for all ages, and especially the young adult crowd, coming to age readers.
The only problem I did have with the book was the way Brooklyn acted after be tested my The Elite. She was willing to do practically anything to gain acceptance even if that meant giving up her true self. She wanted to be liked so much that Brooklyn figuratively speaking "sold her soul" to get there.
The ending was positively perfect and I can't wait to find out what's in store next for this little "witch". (less)

One of my favorite types of books to read is witches. So when I was asked by the author to read his book Wicked Sense I knew I could not pass up the offer.
Witches are not supposed to exist. These magical beings are not real. Or so the everyone thinks. Skye knows better, she believes in witches and it just so happens she is one. She is part of a coven of witches who are in charge of protecting the veil and making sure no one breaks it. Skye is sent from her home in London to Seattle to attempt to find a new and powerful witch who possess great power. So great that if she is not found this will mean trouble for the coven and the world itself.
On the first day in her new school Skye runs in to some trouble with a girl named Jane, who is also a witch. Jane is bad news and Skye knows it. While at lunch Skye meets a boy her age names Drake. Although shy, Drake approaches Skye and gets to know her. Skye knows she must not let a boy or anything else get in the way of finding the Singularity witch. Against her better judgement she agrees to hang out with Drake. When bad events start happening to Skye she knows someone is out to get her. Buy why and who? Drake soon discovers something it not right and needs answers but what he find out will change everything is has ever believed in.
Witches are real, the veil is now broken and a rouge witch will do anything it can to destroy Skye's chance at finding the Singularity witch. If she did not have enough of her plate Skye begins to fall for Drake and will do anything to protect him.
Wicked Sense is a quick read. I think I finished the book in like 2 days. The story was quite captivating and moves fast. Although I felt there were a few holes in the story-line I still enjoyed reading it. Skye and Drake are interesting characters and give the book such charm. The romance was flawless, no insta love. The author took his time with having them fall in love slowly and perfectly.
As this is the very first book in the series I know the upcoming books will give more of a back-story about Skye and the coven but it felt to me like something were missing while I was reading. There were a few slow parts that dragged a bit. I honestly did enjoy reading the book and while I was not totally engrossed by the story but it really is a nice start for this series.
If you like books about Witches and Warlocks, spells and magic then this would be a fantastic read for you. (less)
