Merit finally found her place and is a great Sentinel for the Cadogan house. Sure, Ethan pissed me off a couple of times, but all in all the book was fantastic. I have laughed, cried and jumped in my seat going trough the events side by side with Ethan and Merit. I highly reccomend this book. I've read a lot of UF in 2010 but this is one of the best so far.
For those of you who haven't read it yet... I oh so envy you, guys. I wish I could erase my memory and start over. ...more

I've waited for so long to have a real relationship between Sookie and Eric and then came this guy... Eric, but not quite Eric. I couldn't deal with his weakness, and that's where the book lost it's appeal for me.
But I'm doing this all wrong. The 10th book of the Souther Vampire Mysteries series starts with Amelia leaving and it broke my heart. I cried my eyes out when Dawson died, and her leaving didn't help at all. It was good, though. Just what I needed - a closure. But other than that... After a thousand years of existence, Eric is something no living male can be... perfect! I think there is no woman in this world who doesn't dream of someone like him: arogant, high-handed, strong, smart as hell, beautiful beyond measure, and oh so very protective. So seeing him all weak and indecisive really made my heart hurt. Sorry, I guess I've had enough of weak and flawed men in real life. :-D
But all in all, it was a decent book. SVM remains my all time favorite series. I just hope Dead reckoning will give me the Eric I'm used to. ...more

Admittedly, the last one wasn't much, either, but I didn't expect two crappy ones in a row. I finished it this morning, and I don't even remember what it was about. Absolutely nothing interesting happened. Cat and Bones are running around trying to prevent a war, Mencheres is having loud sex (yuck), Vlad doesn't even have a girlfriend (I'm guessing that will be fixed in the next Night Huntress World book, that seems to be Frost's modus operandi) and Justina is joining Tate's crew. This series has been one of my favorites for so long that I feel like I just lost a friend. So where did it all go wrong? For me it was around the time Cat turned into a full vampire. She's suddenly a fucking Superman, absorbing powers from just about everyone - vampires, ghouls, who cares?! It all makes perfect sense. Doesn't it? She can now fly, even though young vampires normally can't even dream about it, she reads human minds, occasionally spits fire, AND she can control ghosts. Hundreds of them. So with this going on throughout the book, Don coming back as a ghost was a complete surprise. A shock even. Riiiight! I knew it before he even died.
Repeating the (in)famous chapter 32 wasn't much of a success either. I don't even want to go there, you'll see for yourselves soon enough. I have a question, though: was I supposed to yawn during this highly anticipated sex scene?
Oooh, I forgot the "your hands are my heaven and your eyes are my home" line. What's up with THAT?! Bones lost about ten points with that one! You live for more than 200 years, and that's all you can come up with? It's just... so corny! AND pathetic.
All in all, it didn't deserve the three stars, but that's how I rated it. Call me sentimental, I don't care. It should have been two stars, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Despite the fact I honestly liked Miranda and David, my personal favorite was definitely Faith. But most importantly, this book restored my faith in urban fantasy altogether. What’s so great about Faith, you wonder? When she first showed up and started (as his Second) talking David out of bringing Miranda to Haven, I thought: Theeeeere she goes – the typical Mexican-soap-opera-bitch that’s going to stand in their way the entire time. Not only was she the farthest thing from my oh-so-prejudiced initial assessment, but there was no Mexican-soap-opera-bitch at all! Honestly, there wasn’t. There were no love triangles of any kind! If you want to know how amazing Faith truly is, read the damned book! So why did I give Queen of Shadows only four stars? Well, first of all, the cover is flat out ugly. I am a cover snob, I’m not ashamed to admit. Have I not heard about this book before actually seeing it, I would never have read it. Second of all, I got a teeny tiny bit bored around the middle. Maybe it was just me.
I highly recommend this book to all you urban fantasy lovers out there (although it’s mostly paranormal romance if you ask me). Even without disrupting any of the UF conventions, Sylvan succeeded in making it quite fresh. ...more

I can't say that I'm a big fan of Marissa's, but I guess I'm just jealous. :D I hope something good happens to V real soon 'cause I've got this huge ache in my chest when I think about the Brother. I've read 4 books in as many days and I say to myself I'll stop after every single one - but I just can't. It's like a damn mexican soap opera - you know you've got better things to do, but you just can't stop going. So, unless you're on extended holidays or something - don't even start reading. You'll end up doing nothing else. Btw, Butch is absolutely perfect - but Zsadist is still my man! :D...more
