His father basically kidnapped her by holding her against her will once she wanted to leave then not allowing her friends to come visit and her stupid prince is hurt when she gets back with her dead love? I mean... Come on dude. Angry I can get but angry enough to leave Viv in that poisoned state, unable to move, indefinitely? That ain't cool....more
**spoiler alert** I did enjoy reading Eady's first book but I cannot help but come to the conclusion that wonderful people have terribly selfish child**spoiler alert** I did enjoy reading Eady's first book but I cannot help but come to the conclusion that wonderful people have terribly selfish children. Eadlyn's selfishness is putting all of Illea in unease, Ahren's gave America a heart attack, Josie keeps stealing tiaras, I supposed Kile isn't so bad in just wanting to leave and break his mother's heart in the process and we don't know enough about Kaden or Ostin to really say whether they are selfish or not but... Seriously. Eadlyn can't have one conversation with her own maid without insulting her by insinuating she's better than everyone else. And why has no one told her about what really happened during her parents' selection?? They gave her the edited version, she didn't know America was in love with Aspen, she didn't know America had a breakdown in the garden, she didn't know America broke the rules, she didn't know anything about what really went on between her parents yet now she's going through the exact same thing... You'd think she would want to know more but apparently not. So while I did enjoy the book I came to two conclusions in general about it: 1)Eadlyn is a very selfish creature who is unable to perceive herself as being such, and 2)she is rather unreasonable most of the time and demands more from others than she is willing to give in return. (More selfishness really) I don't see how such selfless people as Maxon and America created her and raised her to be so selfish. Eadlyn insists the entire time in the book that she's the queen and she's sacrificing so much for her people but... Is she really? She doesn't even understand why they're rioting and she doesn't seem to want to be involved in helping them either. They're her people so why wouldn't they adore her? (Paraphrased from the book).
What's going on with Eric anyway? He's so not in the Selection and Eadlyn just vowed to actually pick someone so what's she doing canoodling with him? I mean okay she didn't vow until after the weirdness between them but still. Out of the Selected I am really pulling for Henri and Kile... They're both just so darn cute with her. And they're the only ones she's kissed too so... Fingers crossed! Then again Kile might not be too happy to be stuck in the castle with her permanently since he's trying to get out of the castle....more

I get that Lu was trying something different but... Meh I didn't like it. It was just sad and I don't like the way things turned out, Rafaelle was just plain cruel and I personally think he was wrong about Adelina. If they had genuinely accepted her they could have helped keep her in check but they didn't. Not really, they were suspicious of her and Dante was outright hostile. The only one who seemed to genuinely accept her was Enzo and even that was iffy because of Daphne. Then there was the whole business with Violetta which only made things worse, clearly Adelina is losing her grip on reality and the only one on her side is her cowardly sister. ...more
