You can find everything in the book: adventure, action, magic, humor, breathtaking, evil, dark art,... Magnificent. The story started in England, where professor Dumbledore, McGonagall and Hagrid took an orphan baby with a scar that looked like a lightning bolt and left it in front of the door. Of course, I don't understand what was going on. 10 years later, Harry Potter grew up and lived with a terrible, dreadful family, his uncle Vernon and aunt Petunia, who was really despised Harry, and forced him to sleep in a cupboard. They had a child, Dudley, a bully, who always bully Harry. However, things started when Harry accidentally let a snake at the zoo crawl out of the cage. He realized he could talk to snake, and didn't know why he could make the glass door disappeared. The next day, there was a strange letter send for him and he was really surprised, 'cause he never had friends or any relatives. But he couldn't read the letters, 'cause his uncle burned it and tore it. There were more and more letters were send to him, until one day, letters were appeared everywhere. The family, except Harry, was so scared that they decided to move to a lonely island. At night, a big man named Hagrid( lol I like him), bursts through the door and gave him a birthday cake, and told that he is a wizard, and gave him a letter told that he will go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He learned the truth about his parents were killed by a Dark, Powerful Wizard named Voldemort - who tried to kill him but couldn't and instead left a scar on his forehead and died. There were people who still think that Voldemort was somewhere and tried to have his life back normal. Harry went to the Diagon Alley and Gringotts Wizarding Bank to inherit a lot of gold coins from his parents. He then went on a magical train, that will lead to Hogwarts and soon made friends with the Weasleys - another wizard family, especially Ron, a red hair boy, Hermione - a smart girl who came from a Muggle( those who don't have magic) family. He also made his first enemy- Draco Malfoy - arrogant and prejudice and rich with his sidekick - Crabbe and Goyle.
When the train arrived, and the new students are allocated to House by the Sorting Hat. There are 4 houses: Gryffindor - brave, courage, Ravenclaw - creative, intelligent, smart, Hufflepuff - hard work, loyalty, fair play, and Slytherin - ambition, cunning.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione were sorted in Gryffindor, while Malfoy and his friends were sorted in Slytherin - only for pure blood.
He studied at Hogwarts and discovered a lot of things. First : there was a monster at school and unfortunately, it was released in Halloween. Second: his DADA teacher is a traitor. Third: Voldemort is trying to get his life back by stealing the Philosopher's Stone. Is Harry going to win? Yes, of course, if not there will be no sequel. The rest you should read. I'm not going to spoiler.
HARRY HAD TO FACE HIS WORST ENEMY - VOLDEMORT! ..............................................

Ron with his mouse - Scabbers on the Hogwarts Train.

I haven't heard of this book 'cause my country doesn't sell it, until the day I watched a movie call "The Lightning Thief". Honestly, I don't really like the movie( except Logan). I find out that this movie was made from a book. I don't know why I search for the ebook of the Lightning Thief. Then I know the truth that all the characters in the series are begun at the age of 12 . The book is totally different from the movie and I'm really enjoy it... I mean, really love it. You can find anything from this book. From action, to humor, fantasy, mythical creatures, fighting, friendship, and cliff hanger...!
Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood.
If you’re reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is: close this book right now. Believe whatever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth, and try to lead a normal life.
Being a half-blood is dangerous. It’s scary. Most of the time, it gets you killed in painful, nasty ways.
If you’re a normal kid, reading this because you think it’s fiction, great. Read on. I envy you for being able to believe that none of this ever happened.
But if you recognize yourself in these pages-if you feel something stirring inside-stop reading immediately. You might be one of us. And once you know that, it’s only a matter of time before they sense it too, and they’ll come for you.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
The story started with Percy Jackson - a boy who had ADHD and dyslexia. He always get kick from school each year 'cause he always made trouble, and studied bad. He lived with his mom - Sally Jackson , and his stepfather - Smelly Gabe ( oh, I love that name). He was really hated his stepfather 'cause he always drunk and poker... He also hated his father 'cause his father had left him and his mother since he was born. But things really started weird when He accidentally vaporized his Pre-algebra teacher. Mrs. Dodds - his teacher suddenly turned into a monster and requested him for something, and suddenly, Mr.Brunner - his history teacher threw him a pen - which turned to a sword, and he slighted Mrs. Dodds. Percy thought that it was just a dream, or it was a hallucination, 'cause when he asked the other students, they told him there was no one named Mrs.Dodds even Mr.Brunner told that his school never have anyone call Mrs. Dodds, although Percy suspected Grover - his best friend was lied to him.
Strange things started to happen again. He saw Mrs.Dodds once again. But the worst thing is, he discovered that his friend - Grover was actually a satyr. His mother drove crazily in the car to a place call Camp Half Blood while there was a monster chased after them and it is a minotaur. The minotaur killed his mom in front of him, and Percy was really furious that he kill the minotaur for revenge. He cried a lot and carry Grover to Camp Half Blood. He learned the truth about himself. He is actually a demigod. He is a child of the Olympians God. His father is a GOD!, but he didn't know which one. He refused to believe that the Gods of Greece are still living in the modern world to day. But he soon get used to it. His ADHD causes him to have extra good battle reflexes, his dyslexia makes him read ancient Greek better. He made friends with Luke - the head counselor of Hermes cabin, and Annabeth - another 12- year-old smart and beautiful girl with grey eyes and blonde hair from the Athena cabin. He tried not to painful and guilty about his mom's death, and started to learn sword-fighting, arrow, javelins, canoes,... He also knew that Mr.Brunner was actually Chiron - a centaur who taught heroes. He also had his first enemy - Clarisse - a stubborn, awful, quite ferocious, daughter of Ares who loved to bully new kids. He started to enjoy his new home - Camp Half Blood. He loved to eat dinner with his friends, and fighting, and hearing the sounds of monster in the night. But things changed. He had nightmare most of nights. After the Friday night, he knew who was his father. Everybody knew. He was the son of P.... ( Spoiler). Poseidon. The son of the Big Three. Annabeth turned out to hate him, 'cause Athena and Poseidon used to against each other. In the Olympians, Zeus had lost his lightning thief. Someone stole it, it is definitely a human, or a demigod. Zeus thought it was Percy. But Percy sured he was innocent. How could he proved that? He was just a 12-year-old child. You shall go west, and face the god who has turned,
You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned,
You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend,
And you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end. He had a quest. Annabeth and Grover agreed to accompanied. But could Percy complete his mission? Who is the god he had to face? Who betrayed him? Percy began his adventure and fighting with monsters, traveled around America to find the thief and the lightning... But one things for sure: He had to fail.

3.5 star. The plot is pretty okay, well-written, and enjoyable. Things I love: - Imagination world in this book: dwarfs, elf, dragons, witches... - Angela the mysterious witch and her werecat - Well written and enjoyable - Sometimes breathtaking and I couldn't put the book down - The love between Eragon and his dragon: Saphira - Mysterious people who hid their past - Unpredictable - Ancient words and magic - Eragon and Arya ( I hope there are more things happened between them in the next book ; ) What make me feel not really satisfy: - Action scene at the last battle ( need more dramatic, too short) - Eragon ( I don't know why ) - More interesting characters - The Varden and Galbatorix ( I don't know but I'm not like them... They're just weird and powerful and bossy....) - The cover ( not because it's ugly, but I feel it's need to be more imposing, not just the head of a dragon)
Thanks my friend for recommend this book to me :)
meh..... NEW REVIEW!
Yea, guys, I was a naive reader, an easy-rating, inexperienced reader. Not anymore! I have become dangerous *bwaahahhahahaa*
I gave this two stars because I respect the author's nerdiness and painstaking approach to a novel. At least he is better than those shallow, vapid, intolerably stupid Mary-Sue girlish authors out there.
I get the guy is trying very hard to write a fantasy novel, and it seemed cruel to rate him 1 star, because at least he had spend freaking ten years looking up words on thesaurus and stick them on his works.
But to be honest, cruelly honest, I must admit his work was shallow in someway.
Ehm, the bad guy vs the good guy, black and white. A young heroic boy save a nation's tragedy with his awesome talent that he whipped out from thin air and in love with a beautiful elfish girl, travelling with a mentor and learned magical power as fast as rocket flying.
Characters Ehmm, as mention above.
A poor, peasant dude who didn't know of his capabilities. An evil guy that dominated over the whole country despite I didn't really see his evil-ness anywhere. A beautiful, gorgeous girl who is fucking perfect in very aspect. Please, couldn't it just be more shallow? A wise mentor who hides a deep past *yes, he is very mysterious and all, you will have to find out, it's very secretive*
And top of all, he combined all these cardboard characters into a strange maelstrom of adventure, dragons, monsters *urgals - which is a copy of orges* that didn't at all stimulates readers or makes your hair stands on edge. Haha, need I say more?
I think the best book of fantasy out there is probably A Game of Thrones. I hate these extreme epic things that are so very boring and dull and all Tolkien-ish.

Check. The Amulet of Samarkand - first book from the Bartimaeus Trilogy. The story took place in the modern England, where sorcerers and sorceresses exist is a normal thing. Those who had magic will protect the normal people - the commoners. Nathaniel is not a lucky boy. He had lost his parents at the age of youth but also had a paranoia teacher - Arthur Underwood who thought that Nathaniel - his apprentice couldn't summoned an imp. Later, Nathaniel met a young magician named Simon Lovelace, and Simon soon dismiss his magical power like Arthur. Magicians are really arrogant. He learned a lot, and read a lot, and decided to called a 5000 demon, a djinn - Bartimaeus to do his bidding. While learning boring lessons from Arthur, he was also plotting to against his nemesis Simon. He told Bartimaeus to steal Simon's amulet - a very powerful magic things. But the plan soon failed 'cause Simon caught both of them. Arhur was really angry and surprised to learned that Nathaniel can called such a powerful demon to do his will. In the house, Simon suddenly closed the door and started a fire, " Everybody who knew I had the amulet should be kill." Arthur and his wife Martha dead, while Nathaniel was rescued by Bartimaeus. Nathaniel was furious with himself, 'cause he had let Martha dead. Again, he told Bartimaeus to spy on Simon and discovered that Simon will use the amulet in a really evil plan. Both Nathaniel and Bartimaeus will have to save the other magicians, they're the only one who knew the truth...
In my opinion, this book was wonderful. It is really breathtaking, and I loved to read about magic. This book is totally different from Harry Potter, and please, don't compare them. In Harry Potter, wizards used wands and spells, while in Bartimaeus series, they draw pentacles, and summoned. The book is well known for its liberal use of footnotes to voice the title character's sarcastic and humor comments, as well as story background.
I'm really enjoy it, but it took time to finish it 'cause the books had a lot of difficult words. [image error]

I'm expected a lot in this book, 'cause now Percy Jackson won't be the main character anymore. I thought three new demigods will like the " copycat" of Annabeth, Grover, and Percy. But they have totally new characteristics. This book is a lot more humorous than Percy Jackson series. In this book, it continued the prophecy of " The Last Olympian". Oh , I read and I gasped, then read again. Rick Riordan's writing is so much better. The one who told the story are the three new demigods, Jason, Piper, Leo. And great cover, Disney Hyperion. Unfortunately, I still don't have a book. I had to download the ebook from Internet and read the *whole night*. In the morning at the class, I felt very tired, but that's not important. I would do my best to read the Lost hero. Cannot wait The Son of Neptune <3 ............................ enough spam! Seven half-bloods shall answer the call To storm or fire, the world must fall. An oath to keep with a final breath And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.
The Lost Hero is the first book of the series Heroes of Olympus (HOO!) which continues the Percy Jackson series. The book has the combination of Greek and Roman mythology with fantasy, adventure, humor, romance,...etc and of course, breathtaking. It's hard to stop in the middle of the book, you'll have to read all from start to end. It was really amazing, (( yeah, that's why I have to hide in the blanket all night to read it))
He had lost his memory. He couldn't remember who were his parents, how old is he and while he was on a school bus. All he could know that his name was Jason. He didn't remember anything before waking up on a school bus to the Grand Canyon and realized he was holding hands with a girl. She was beautiful and acknowledged she was his girlfriend Piper, another funny kid named Leo told him he was his best friend, and they’re all students in the Wilderness School, a boarding school for “bad kids.” What he did to end up here, Jason has no idea—except that everything seems very wrong, things were worse when he realized who was he, who was his father, and who he had to go to rescue.
She had lost her father for three days. All she could know that he was in a danger through her vivid nightmares most of night. Things were worse when her boyfriend doesn’t recognize her, and when a freak storm and strange creatures attack during a school field trip, she, Jason, and Leo are whisked away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood. Although Piper is pretty and brave but she hated to admit that. She was even shocker when she knew that she was a demigod and her mother was not her favorite goddess.
He had lost his mom since he was young and all he got was a pyscho babysitter who was the queen of God (spoiler). But that was when he was young, now - Leo loved tools. His new cabin at Camp Half-Blood is filled with them. Seriously, the place beats Wilderness School hands down, with its weapons training, monsters, fine-looking girls and a bronze dragon that could breath fire. What’s troubling is that nobody wanted him to have that dragon 'cause it was dangerous. But nothing could stop him to get the dragon. He will make his dad proud. After all, he was a child of a fire god.
Oh, I love the introduction. Jason's courage and leadership, Piper's charmspeaking, and Leo's humor.
Don't ever compare them to the trio in Percy Jackson. The Lost Hero is completely different and really amazing.
Jason, Piper, Leo had always thought they were normal kids and went to a boarding school. But things went crazy when a storm spirit attacked them at the Grand Canyon. They had nothing to do except - fight for their lives. Jason realized he could fly and had an amazing coin - it could turn to a sword. Things were weird-er when a bunch of people appeared, Annabeth and Butch asked for a guy named Percy Jackson. Of course, they couldn't understand what was that about. Jason, Leo, Piper then whisked to Camp Half Blood, where they find their true identity: demigods.
Child of lightning, beware the Earth The giants' revenge, the seven shall birth The forge and dove shall break the cage And death unleash through Hera's rage.
Jason, Leo, Piper knew that they had a mission, a deadly mission.

If you finish the Philosopher Stone book, you definitely need to read the Chamber of Secret.
The sequel was amazing. So there he was, Harry Potter, after defeated Voldemort and saved the Philosopher's Stone, sitting in his own bedroom in the summer. Harry felt worse and worse each day: He had to stayed with the Dursleys. He wondered why he couldn't got any letters from his friend at school : Hermione, Ron, Hagrid,.... He met an elf named Dobby, who warned him not to return back to Hogwarts 'cause something terrible will happening there.
At night, Ron Weasley with Fred and George decided to rescue Harry on a flying car. Harry was really excite when he saw three of them appeared at his bedroom window. Four of them drove back to Ron's house.
On September 1, Harry and Ron was late for school and ran quickly to the gate to the train of Hogwarts but the gate was close. Ron had an idea - driving flying car. Things not go quite as plan when the car accidentally bumped on the Whomping Willow. The car drove away, let Harry and Ron on the ground with their suitcases and pets. Harry and Ron almost get kick out of school, and Ron's parents were really disappoint and angry when they knew that.
But things start to go bad when a new DADA teacher arrived at school: professor Gildery Lockhart who was really narcissistic.
But the worst thing is: there were messages on the walls said that the mythical Chamber of Secrets once again open. The Chamber of Secret was used to be a room made by Salazar Slytherin - a pure blood and one of the most powerful wizard. There was a horrible and evil monster lurked in the chamber.
Students whose had parents are both Muggles will be kill, which mean Hermione was also in the list.
Some students and teachers were petrified. Harry also learned that he is actually had the power of speaking to snake - Parseltounge - a dark art so students suspected that he might be the heir of Slytherin. But Hermione, Ron and Harry believed that he is not. Three of them suspected Draco Malfoy. So Harry, Hermione, and Ron started to make the polyjuice potion - which will help them took form of another person in a while. [image error] Harry and Ron disguised as Crabbe and Goyle - Malfoy's sidekicks, while Hermione accidentally turned into a cat. So Hermione had to go the Hospital Wing. Harry and Ron asked Malfoy about the Chamber of Secret and they knew that Malfoy wasn't the one who opened it. Harry discovered a diary in the girl bathroom - a diary of Tom Riddle. The paper of the book was completely blank, which was weird. Harry wrote in and the letters disappeared, then another new letters appeared from another one. It was Tom Riddle wrote back for him. Tom Riddle used magic so Harry found himself returned back to Hogwarts 50 years after, when the Chamber of Secret was opened. The one who opened it was Hagrid - according to the headmaster of the school. But after that, Harry and Ron knew that Hagrid was innocent. Things were worse when they heard a news : Hermione Granger was petrified.
Harry and Ron found a note in Hermione's hand: "Of the many fearsome beasts and monsters that roam our land, there is none more curious or more deadly than the Basilisk, known also as the King of Serpents. Its methods of killing are most wondrous, for aside from its deadly and venomous fangs, the Basilisk has a murderous stare, and all who are fixed with the beam of its eye shall suffer instant death.
Can Harry and Ron kill the serpent? Who is the heir of Slytherin? Who has opened the chamber of secret? The answer is easy : just read the book :)

Is it necessary to put every details about me reading the son of Neptune... yes, yes it is. I have just read chapter 1 of the book. OMG, it was Percy point of view... He seems tougher, stronger and poor him... be annoyed by the Gorgons. I thought that Percy is the son of Neptune. I've think they mention him is a child of Roman, I couldn't understand why, he is obviously a child of the Greek. But luckily, he remembers Annabeth! Yes, don't worry my friends, I hope he will not love another person! Hope so!

From the cover to the content, from the amazing plot and characters to the extraordinary creatures,.... blah blah blah. I've got no words to describe. I love to pick and read books about fairy, centaurs, something magical and mystery, and thrilling with adventures and young heroes. The book had 'em all. Duh, it was a best-selling.
Fablehaven is a place where magical creatures live inside. They are beautiful, dangerous, cunning, but the place was quite safety thanks to the caretaker - Stan Sorenson. In summer, Kendra and Seth Sorenson were taking to live with Stan - their grandfather 'cause their parents have to go on a vacation. At first, Kendra and Seth thought that was just a normal garden and forest, but the whole place was actually contain a lot of magical things that not many people knew the truth. It just like living in a fairy tale. But beautiful things didn't last so long. Once they entered the world of Fablehaven, they knew they were absolutely in danger. Threatened. Killed. Stole. Liars. Crazy dancing donkeys Kendra and Seth must saved their family, their house, ... but most of all, their lives. .......................................................................
Ah, I love this book so much. In my opinion, the plot is really creative and palpitation. Brandon Mull knew how to describe the magical world and combined with action and adventures. His characters are good, I like Seth Sorenson, I like his brave, his didn't-obey-adults things. Well, most of the time, I like boy character. His sister was okay. Strict, and seemed annoyed by her brother. The book is totally suitable for children, especially me. Can't wait for the next series. .......................................................................
Thanks my computer and internet, for helping me find the ebook and download it. Thanks my electronic dictionary for helping me read in the night without get caught. And most of all, thanks Brandon Mull, for writing such and extraordinary story. Thanks Goodreads, for letting me write this psycho review :)

Usually, I get hand on famous book. Since they're famous, there must be a reason why they are famous . One of those books is The Hunger Games .
I have heard people talking about fantasy like Harry Potter, Twilight, Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games and such. And all I have read. Except The Hunger Games. Books caught my attention by their covers, their content, but most usually - their fame.
So I decided to read The Hunger Games. Now I don't have money to buy a book and my eyes were so tired of reading on iPhone. I went out to the library but the books were always on hold. Another reason prove it is famous.
Love, love and love. That would be three words I use to describe the book. From the theme - North America, hunger, starving, modern, ruling... To the plot - Uprising, Stealing, Sneaky, Romance, The Games, sacrifice, family and so on
The characters are extremely well-describe. Especially Katniss. Brave, defiance and always stand up for the right and those she love.
What a role model! I'm sick of shallow girls who depend on hot guy, pretend she is not a bimbo but she is actually brainless.
The book contains great action, gasp moment, quite violent and left a horror but impressive sensation.
It deserves to be read at least once in everybody's life.
