He's been given the task of keeping an eye on a human female, Leila whose created a drug that's supposed to cure the early stages of Alzheimer, but unfortunately it makes humans susceptible to control by the Demons of Fear. The Cloak Warrior Council is divided. Some believe Leila should be protected and others believe the only way to eliminate the threat is to eliminate its inventor. While the Council determines her fate, Aiden is sent to protect her....for the time being. Once Aiden meets her, she stirs something in him that he believed long gone.

Unfortunately, she meets the enigmatic Aiden.....who tells her she must destroy her drug and its dangerous. She's not having it....its her life's work. Being so close to saving her parents she's decided to protect her work no matter what this sexy mystery man says despite feelings she starts to develop for him.
Time is running out for both of them. Can Leila take him for his word and destroy everything that means so much to her for the sake of the world? And if she's helbent on keeping the drug, will Aiden beable to dispatch her??
This was a great start to a series!I was sucked in from the very begining. Aiden is super sexy and Leila is the perfect complement to him. I cant wait to read the next one! Tina Folsom definitely has a winner here! Its absolutely a MUST read!...more

Since brutally murdering a rapist one night Samson decides he's fed up with Zane's antics. So instead of firing him, him and Gabriel try to teach him a lesson. But babysitting a snobish half-breed princess is the last thing Zane excpects. Neither is his fierce attraction to her.
Portia's a half-breed and she realizes her over-bearing Vampire Father has assigned a body guard to keep her from getting out of control while he's away. She soon finds out that the real reason for this is to stop her from losing her virginity. Once she reaches 21st birthday her body will stop aging and she will be a virgin forever. Time is running out for her and meeting Zane gives her an idea to make him her first no matter what daddy dearest has to say about it.
First off, I would like to say that this is the best of the Scanguards series! We find out a lot about the reason for Zane's cruelty and ongoing rage. He's a hollocaust survivor and his lifes mission is to find all the evil Nazis who turned him and made his life misserable. Then his willingness to protect Portia from a horrible fate of being a virgin forever. There were a lot of hilarious moments as well as heartbreaking momements where we got to see first hand the tragedy of Zanes life when he and his family was taken to a concentration camp when he was a young man.
I greatly enjoyed the banter and the sexual tension between Zane and Portia from the momemnt they met.
Pride dictated that he not let her win this argument. “You know nothing about me, and you never will.” She didn’t turn as she set her foot on the first stair. Her words were low as she murmured as if talking to herself, but he heard them all the same. “Watch your back, tough guy.” Watch yours, or you’ll find yourself on it soon, he wanted to respond but didn’t.
Zane realized that he wanted Portia right away and was scared that once he did...he wouldn't beable to let her go. I was quite surprised that we got to see a softer and more vurernable side to him. But it didn't take away from the fierceness and sometimes brutal vampire that I grew to love.
Zane averted his eyes so Portia wouldn’t detect his lie. Yes, he was rough, but with her, he could care; with her, he would see that she enjoyed it. For her, he could do that. But he didn’t want her to know, because this was never going to happen. If he took Portia, he’d consume her, devour her, and then, when she wanted to leave him, he’d force her to stay with him, because he wouldn’t be able to let her go. One taste of her, and he knew that much with certainty. There was no need to tempt fate and take this any further.
There were some parts of this story that I found it tough to read. Zane's self-hatred of his heritage...at which I didn't see coming at all. And also, when Zane tried to explain to Samson that Portia's father was forcing her to remain a virgin forever. It was extremely frustrating when Samson refused to see reason and always assumed the worst in Zane....grrrr! But in the end, they all realized what was going on and I forgave him(sorta). All in all, this was a story of redemption, forgiveness and love. As well as the old adage; never judge a book by its cover. In my opinion, Zane was always put into a certain bracket, and I learned that he was much more than that. At his core, he really wanted someone to love and love him back. He didn't think he was worthy of that love because he always saw himself as a dirty jew, as it was ingrained in him when he was captured. But Portia saw the good in him and showed him that he was worthy of love. Pulled him out of the dark prison within himself and brought him to the light. And became his shinning star. I don't want to give anything away, since there's a lot of surprises and twists in this installment. But what I will say is; this is the best vampire romance that I've read in a while. Please read this series...you won't be dissapointed in the least. I also can't wait to see what going on with Thomas and Eddie.....Hope they are next????? ...more

It starts out in 1800's Ireland with a vampire, Prince Seth, who meets an Angel. When said Angel is on the human plane she cannot remember her name so she asks him to give her one. He decides to name her Danann. They fall in love and she decides that she will not give him up and go back home so she decides to fall from grace. As soon and she does this Seth and his village is under attack. Seth see's Danann and doesn't know that she has fallen and notices that the enemy is closing on her, so he tells her to get away so he can protect her. She thinks that he really meant for her to leave because he didn't want her. So 200 years pass. She's "moved on" he finds her and basically demands that she be "his". She's been heartbroken for 200 years because the love of her life rejected her and left her to the wolves and he is pissed and bent on revenge because he thinks that she left him. The whole situation was a BIG misunderstanding
Anywhoo....I absolutely love this story. As soon as I read the plot I knew that I would like it...I mean come on! A vampire and an Angel falling in love? What's not to love right?! All they had to do was communicate and things would have been good. But what's the fun in that right?! I just fell in love with the characters...the story was original. I just don't know what else to say but Bravo Joannne Valiukas!! I really hope that the next installment of this series gets published soon because I can't wait!! If you are reading this please get off your asses and get a copy of this book right NOW!! It's well worth it! ...more
