Rhiannon's Law #18: No one asks for their life to change, but it does. The bad things we face are tests created to separate the strong from the weak. Once you've found your place--as the savage lion or the tranquil lamb--it's up to you to take the next step, to decide what comes after. Even if it means destroying everything in your path on the road to deliverance.
How is it possible that this series can get better?? With a heroine like Rhiannon Murphy it's inevitable! Since she changed the future in Renfield Syndrome, all is not well in Rhia's world. After Disco's betrayal of her trust and the wild night of passion she shared with Paine still fresh in her mind, Rhiannon must face some hefty consequences. Disco is looking for redemption, his maker is coming to town to force Rhiannon to hand over Sucker(the demon killing blade). Now Rhiannon is beginning to understand that Disco and Paine have sheltered her away from the more dangerous aspects of being in a vampire family.
Its a race against time and if she doesn't hand over Sucker they are all in for a world of hurt! Marius is not one to be trifled with and neither is they're Demon maker Revenald. She'll soon learn that crossing him will assign her a fate worse than death. And to top it all off, she's made a pact with fallen angel Marigold Vesta. She must restore her to power or Rhiannon will serve as her host.
Rhiannon's Law #28: If you're going to fuck up, be sure to fuck up good and proper. Nothing makes failure acceptable, so you might as well make your misery count.
Basically it's a catch 22. She needs Sucker for protection against her enemies and if she gives it up, she's as good as dead. And if she doesn't give it up to her Master, she'll wish she was dead. Her love life isn't all roses either. Paine is in love with her. Disco wants her back and feels like shit for betraying her the way he did and Rhiannon just can't seem to find it in her heart to forgive him even though she really wants to. But when the time finally comes, will it be too late? And more importantly; Is this Ripple Effect business real....it sure seems like it.
All in all, this was a fantastic addition to the series! It still had its funny flair that I fell in love with and its dark and twisted suspense.
"I've been watching over you."
"Where I'm from, it's the same thing. Stalking isn't cool unless you're an Edward."
The Demons of this world are really some sick bastards that actually gave me nightmares. This series really does have everything that I love; dark humor, steamy sex, betrayal of the worst kind, a heroine I can relate to and can kick major fucking ass! It's definitely one of the best Urban Fantasy series out there. I really hope people stop pirating her work so she can continue this series. It really is an awesome urban fantasy tale thats a love story at heart.
Love didn't come with a guarantee. That's what made it so special, so cherished--so rare. You believed in the truth of your heart, even at its worst, because you had no other choice....more

I loved loved loved this debut series! Lanore is tough as nails and takes no bullshit! Not even from those who treat her like crap! And the men in her life....Dizayam! They are hot! MeShack is all alpha male and I love it! Too bad he cant keep his you-know-what in his pants. And then Zulu, I just love Zulu. Head of an organization that caters and offers help to Mixies. He's also sweet on Lenore....I think they're MFEO:)
All in all, Fire Baptized is a fantastic series and I recommended it to all of you that love the PNR and UF genre's. It really is a breath of fresh air that touches on a lot of problems that fellow African Americans.....like myself has faced in our world! It has lotsa suspense and a sexy love triangle that is quite a treat to read about. Basically, Just get your asses out there and read this book!! You won't be disappointed! ...more
King Henry Price is fourteen, he loves everything he's not supposed to and hates everything he's supposed to. One day after his usual hour of detentioKing Henry Price is fourteen, he loves everything he's not supposed to and hates everything he's supposed to. One day after his usual hour of detention he comes home to find an enigmatic woman named Ceinwyn Dale sitting in his kitchen, telling his parents lies about a special reform school. What she tells King Henry is different, she tells him he’s a mancer, a Geomancer to be exact, that he’s special, one in million maybe. She sure ain’t a fairy giant and King Henry sure as hell ain’t Harry Potter, but why not? Got to be better than the life he’s already got.
King Henry Price is twenty-two, a recent graduate of the Asylum as an Artificer. With the special ability to create lasting items of the Mancy, he’s spurned the Artificer’s Guild and struck out on his own to found an Artificer workshop looking to do things his way. One night, a vampire baroness claiming she’s named Anne Boleyn walks into his shop, telling King Henry he’s going to help her, and she’s not taking 'no' for an answer. King Henry is pretty sure the whole name thing is just a joke, but only pretty sure…
With a name like King Henry you gotta be a fighter and he is definitely that. He's cocky and a real feckin foul-mouthed bastard. When he's introduced to the world of mancy and is inducted into the Asylum he becomes quite the accomplished Artificer but doesn't lose his cockiness! Thats what I loved the most about King Henry. He has no filter! I was captivated by the story from the jump and I think that lovers of Harry Potter would eat this shit up!
Richard Raley has created an interesting world that I love reading about. The story is told by King Henry as an adult and he flashes back to 14 year-old King and 21 year-old King Henry and its a fantastic and hilarious ride! King Henry is bad ass and I would definitely love to read more about his world. Please go out and get this book...its awesome!
Great start to a series!! I just love King Henry.....
As much as I love this series. I still have some questions left unanswered. (view spoiler)[I mean...this book went from being about the issues with ViAs much as I love this series. I still have some questions left unanswered. (view spoiler)[I mean...this book went from being about the issues with Victor to Appius! Dont get me wrong...I still liked it a lot but I still feel like it was unfinished. On another note...I am glad that she's now living with the other fey. Dermott and Clyde bring a cool element to this story. I think if it was more about her and her faerie brethren and less about Eric and the other Vamp issues then it would have been better. Or maybe the Appius shit be put in a novella...IDK! Maybe I'm reaching! All in all, love this series. Thank God Appius and the Russian psycho is gone! And now we can get down to business. Like getting rid of Victor!! (hide spoiler)]
Now I must say that I am a BIG supporter of Eric Northman...he is just so damned hot and sexy! And he adore's Sookie as much as he can for a vampire! But...we all know that he is not going to be her HEA. So who will it be? Who the fuck knows!! But I will say this: PLEASE PLEASE don't let it be Sam!! ...more
