Luckily for myself, I am a very open-minded Christian.
I fell completely in love with Manson through this autobiography. Most of society has it all wrong about Manson. Yes, he has issues and has a grotesque sense of humor... But it's mostly all an act. He wants to tempt us and wants us to question ourselves. He wants to make sure we actually believe in what we claim to and not just because we were told to.
After reading this book I have come to the conclusion that 1. Manson is one of the most intelligent individuals in the music industry. 2. I wish I could have really been a part of 1997 and experienced his prime first hand (I was much too young at the time to appreciate this genius) 3. People hate what they can't explain. 4. I will be forever saddened if I never get to meet Marilyn Manson in person. I would love to get into his head some more.
..... I also think he should write another book from 1997 to now. ...more

I'm so lucky to have received this from Goodreads First Reads giveaway! I love fairy tale retellings and this book included a few different ones, including some Greek mythology. I really wish I hadn't of read the reviews before reading the book though because it gave away some of the story. The main character, Reveka, seemed extremely mature and learned for her age (13) but I really enjoyed hearing all her remedies. I became pretty attached to the zmeu Dragos, I hope the author continues Reveka's journey with him in the underworld. It's hard to believe this was the author's first book because the story was put together so well !...more

The beginning starts off with our protagonist, Kim, riding motorcycles with her girl friends. Now that I have finished the book I feel like that part of the story didn't really fit Kim's personality. She's tries to be as independent as she can but she was portrayed to be as a soft, well-mannered, simple young woman who would probably look silly on top of a Harley Davidson.
The beginning also starts off with a murder and the acknowledgment that Kim has a special ability. The murder nor this special ability were mentioned much through the story, except the end when everything unfolded. Which is a shame because I'm a sucker for the special abilities.
I felt this story was more of a romance. This was okay with me though because the romance was an interesting tangle. Who's she going to pick? Who's good and who's bad? Who's hiding something? .... All great questions for this story.
I do recommend this read. The ending makes me wonder if there will be a sequel. I'd like to see Kim use her ability more. ...more

I was excited to start reading this book because I'm going through an emotionally stressful time in my life right now and I think this book was meant for me to read. I'm not one to read self-help books or really anything that doesn't involve fiction (who likes to read about reality? BOR-RING) but I had high hopes for this book since I know Shirley Strawberry is a sassy no non-sense type of person.
I think most woman would be able to relate or take some advice from atleast one story in this book. I know I sure found some enlightenment with a few. Shirley doesn't preach to you like most self-help/advice books. She relates to each situation by telling us about situations she has faced through out her life, how she dealt with them and how she SHOULD have dealt with them. She mentions how she has made plenty of mistakes in her life and she's trying to help us from making those same mistakes.
She includes quite a few letters she has received from listeners asking for advice and I must say some of them are pretty crazy! She even calls one of the letters a "ghetto hot mess!". It's crazy to hear some of the hardships others are going through but it is also encouraging when I hear that others have gone through my similar situation. It's good to know I'm not that only one who's been there dont that.
I didn't get any kind of amazing life-changing advice out of this book but it sure was helpful and inspiring. I would totally recommend anybody to read this, whether they are going through a hard time right now or not because sooner or later we'll all need some advice to hold on to.

Since I am a big Sookie Stackhouse fan I pretty much have already read the majority of whats in this book. The novella at the beginning of the book is really great! I enjoyed that the most. The rest is kinda like "oh yah.. read that before.. skip skip..' I enjoyed re-reading the main points in each of the stories though. Helped me remember more of the stories. The "secret convos" between Bill and Eric were pretty humorous. I really enjoyed reading those!...more

The first book in this series was ehhh, second book was good, but the third one really brought me in. I read Ice Cold Grave every chance I could because the murder case was so appalling and I couldn't wait to find out who was the bastard murder(s). When I wasn't reading the book I would go over the details of the murders over and over in my head trying to figure it out. I wish more of the characters would have been more involved and developed in the story but not a big set back. The only reason I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5 was because I couldn't quite accept Harper's new relationship with her stepbrother/lover. I understand they aren't really related but I can't accept him being her stepbrother one minute and then now all of a sudden they confess their love for each other .. Maybe I'll warm up to the idea by the end of the next book....more

The four kids are basically on the run most of the book and they just cannot get a break! It was a little unnerving reading it because I knew something bad was about to happen to them ALL THE TIME. It definitely kept it interesting though.
Derek has really become my favorite character. He's like the misunderstood superhero. He's portrayed to be a little harsh and mean but I think he just really cares about Chloe, more than he has let on. He's always there to save the day and get them out of trouble. Too bad the author has portrayed him to be really ugly and smelly lol
One thing that has bothered me through both books is that this necklace/talisman Chloe wears around her neck apparently has some big significance (I mean it's portrayed on both covers... must be a big deal) but they hardly even talk about the necklace. Only like two or three times in each book. IF that much. I really want to know what the big deal is with this thing ?
Some of my questions from the first book were answered in this one but I still feel like these a big chunk of information that I haven't learned yet. These books really keep you guessing. I really wish I had the 3rd book already so I could keep reading because it of course leaves off right before something major is about to happen. I plan on going out tomorrow to get it =] ...more
