Tim the main magical character is similar to the famous Harry Potter which is interesting (something about that archetype yields scrawny boys with troubled pasts dark messy hair and glasses). My favorite character was death. She was stunning and cute, easy to relate to yet shes death so has some depth there. She had a simple apartment that reminds me of some of my apartment homes (comforting), teddy bears, and offers tea to ease the transition. I'm looking forward to reading the original Neil Gaiman series where death is introduced. Tim goes through a really interesting adventure where he faces a manticore and rescues Faerie from its dying. He displays a foolish bravery in the face of what could be horrifying for him never yielding to express his quick witted opinion. I think wisdom can be observed anywhere if you are looking and such is true with this story. Happy reading!...more

The most intriguing part was how "hell" was depicted. It was not fire and brimstone or a crazy horned half goat half human thing (that was in the story but not really in the description of ones hell). No it was simply being faced with yourself was ones hell. The world was re-shaping and you had to choose what world you would create or be in but first you had to face yourself, your higher truer self if you will rather than the self you think you are. And the interaction the different characters had with themselves was really real. One guy couldn't stand himself and so he stabbed himself to death. Another character was utterly depressed and her self asked why she did what she does since it brings her so much unhappiness and she was actually able to listen to herself and change and create a happier place to be simply by being more herself rather than what others were or wanted her to be and another girl had a fairly decent relationship with herself already where the relationship was supporting and friendly but truthful. I guess what I was most impressed with was that this was the hell place simply being faced with yourself as you are. I find that there really is something to that idea having going through facing myself myself.. :-)...more

I am coming to really admire Richard Bach's stories. I think in order to really reap the rewards within the pages, it is helpful to be in a similar phase of life, i.e., to be yourself on a spiritual journey seeking the many wonders of lifes mysteries (with as open a mind as you can muster!).
In this book (which is best read in my opinion in between "Illusions" and "One") is the autobiographical journey Richard embarks on to find his soulmate. The love he and his wife find with eachother and the growth that they have is so beautiful and powerful you get caught up in it yourself.
I wish Richard and Leslie Bach the best of luck, hope, peace, and love wherever their souls happen to be (which is to say everywhere and in everyone ;-) )....more

I onlyThis book goes into numerology and provides insight to the life you were born to live based off of calculations you do with your birth numbers. I only read the part in this book relevant for my numbers, and a few of others close to me whose birthdays I knew. And for me and those I checked, the things that Millman had to say were pretty right on. It was very helpful and I think if you put the title in you google search you should find a PDF version which can allow you to peruse the pages on your computer at ease absolutely free! Have fun :-) ...more

Definitely mystical but helpful. It reminded me a bit of the Da Vinci Code in that you traveled along with the main character on this quest but instead of it being a quest to find some religious artifact or truth that is external, this quest was internal about finding something about yourself. It is written in such a way that you journey on this quest with the main character but his quest is your quest. I have found that this can be true for almost anything though. All of our perceptions can become our auto-biographies. Which is why too I think I love Harry Potter so much because while I read that in a state of awareness I can see and find lessons appropriate for me on that journey as well, and that is quite a journey- a bit more exciting than Celestine ;0) So what is about? It goes over nine insights that our society is to come across or learn in our current century to aid in our global awakening and awareness so that our society then (as the ninth insight states) will become one of spirituality and peace creating a heaven on earth. Again it is fictional and mystical but the ideas are solid and sensible. Of course the truths and the method the character discovers (or that the author feels is appropriate) may not be for each reader (I know this is somewhat obvious but I found myself lapping up every word literally!) It is good to remind yourself while reading that we all have our own process which is perfect in and of itself. Happy reading!...more
This is so far my favorite of Bach's books. The ideas portrayed are so incredibly powerful and touching, they really speak to that core within.

Richard and Leslie (AKA RiLesChardlie) are flying to LA to attend a conference at Spring Hills where other unique thinkers of the time are gathering there to discuss their ideas. As they come in to approach LA in their rainbow seaplane something extraordinary happened and they find themselves ripped from the world they were in and in a dimension of sorts where they have access to alternative them's, lifetimes, worlds etc. They come to learn however that these other places are not external from them but that it is all an extension of their consciousness, that in fact we are all one, with one lifetime! Really amazing!...more
