Once again I'm stepping out of my comfort zone with this book. Yes you have noticed that I neither read a lot of adult books nor review the short stories. Well as you can see just now I'm doing both. It's not that I don't like these short stories it's just I don't know how to feel about them. They're different form the novels as you can't get the full background with these. So I hope that the author, publishers and tour organizer won't mind the lack of rating here. It's not that I don't like the story or anything it's just that I don't know how to rate this.
Back to the story now. You get to meet Eden here as one narrator and her neighbor Jay as the second one. Yes they have been friends and next-door-neighbors for three years and both of them wanted more. Only neither wanted to lose the friendship they had cause if they took step forward that could possibly ruin everything they had. But Eden is the brave one here and her friends invent the perfect plan to move things forward. I must say nice played. But the insecurity is still there and it's a big step to make.
If I had to describe this book in few words they would be hot, fast-read and interesting. This book is perfect when you need something hot to entertain you, cause it's only 50 pages long....more

Before I tell you anything about this book in particular here is a little notice. The first book in this series Water is free pretty much everywhere. So get your copy over at Smashwords or Amazon or some other site. You can find more info on Terra's website.
Now a lot of people asked me about this series cause they mostly like the covers. I do love them too, but in case you wanna know more about first two books you can always check my reviews of Water and Air or other reviews here.
So about this book. Fire continues where Air ended. We're in the middle of fight between the two strong forces and their power could do anything. In the middle of that is Kaitlyn, only thing is she is not only Gaia anymore not she is soon-to-be mother as well. She does something, you can say selfish, but truth to be told she is the only one who knows how it is to be in the middle of everything. Two sworn enemies are blind during the battle so they don't pay attention on her. Soon after they realize what happened they must find a way to fix everything. Only problem is that they don't trust each other but also cannot let their enemy from the sight. As always in the battle between until death there can only be one winner, but problem is what else they must destroy to end all this.
I've said it before I really do like this series. Water was something new for me and all this story about elements was really amazing to me. Air continued that way and Fire did too, only problem is that Fire maybe was few pages too long. At some parts Kaitlyn was beginning to over-thing everything. I do understand that but it started to be boring. But everything else in this book was really good. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series....more

I'm weak! But before I tell you why I should start from beginning. Ha! Nope I'm not teasing. Beginning meaning the blurb cause I simply love it. I'm that one person who always complains how blurbs reveal to much but this one is perfect it has enough info to get you interested in the book but still doesn't tell you anything at the same time.
Now I'm coming to that me-weak part. Yeah I really am, cause it doesn't take much (for a book at least) to go under my skin. This is one of the examples how that works. This book is so sweet that I can't even explain it. It's so innocent but yet so mature and full of feelings. Maybe you'd say that the story is typical but you have no idea how wrong that is. I believe a lot of kids or teens can relate to this book, if you can the give this book to your parents. If you're still waiting for me to tell you more about the story, you're at the wrong place my friend cause this is something you have to live through yourself. Oh and I won't even get started about how much I cried.
One more thing is when you read this (or those who have) head over to Thrum Society and you know why. At the end it doesn't matter that I'm becoming too old for this type of the story, I still have to feed this kiddo/teen that'll always be part of me.

If there was absolutely my type of the story then it'd be this. Sweet and short romantic stories. It doesn't really matter that they're mostly predictable but the feeling while you reading it is beautiful.
For me this book is perfect for two things. One it's for summer cause you'll enjoy it and relax. Another thing this book is perfect for is actually plane. Yeah, it's really short and while you're flying somewhere over Atlantic or some other part of the world you can enjoy. By the way, you'll probably scan the other passengers to see if there is some sweet boy/girl to dream about while reading.
I guess now you have a picture abut it. This book will first take us to the airport where our main character Hadley has to fly over Atlantic to get to London and attend her father's wedding. She is still angry on him cause he left her mother and her to go and enjoy with his new girlfriend in London. Things became even worse for her when she missed her flight and now she must wait four hours. Oliver is a guy, obviously, and he also travels to London but his story is different. He is British and studies in the USA but because of some family things he must go home and be with them. Who would say that eight hours can change your life and soon enough one of the worst days in your life can become the best one.
This is the story about teen love and about growing up. Hadley has to see that her problem won't lead to the end of the world and that there are other people who have bigger problems on their back. This is a story about letting go and realizing that today is what matters.

If somebody told me how girly, teen and clicheish (this probably isn't a world, but well) this book was I'd never read it. It's simply not my thing. But I didn't know that and I'm happy for that, cause then I'd miss this great book. Which now at the end I really really like.
Everything started typically in high school. All that drama about where do you stand in that chain of beings and how to get higher is on. Chelsea is our main character but also she is main gossip girl cause trust me that girl doesn't know to keep her mouth shut (well at the begining). She is also the very best friend of the most popular girl in their generation and you know what achievement is that. Everything continues that way up until once she reveals something that leads to something big. Her words almost lead to a murder. Now after all that she goes and tells the truth to her parents and therefore she looses everything, her friends, status and by her own wish her voice. She hates herself for doing things she has done but as one of her friends says hate is...it's too easy. Love - love takes courage. Now she discovers that high school is a really big place and that at the bottom of that chain are people who aren't worthless and that it's true hate is easy but so it's love when you find it.
Even though I'm totally different person than Chelsea is still, thanks to Hannah's amazing talent, I had no problem to get into her head. Cause that's the way Hannah's writes, not just words on a paper but also a feelings and a story that you get into it. She perfectly catches teen's mind and without problem sets all her readers into it. For me that's one amazing thing and an amazing talent. One thing is sure I'll read every book Hannah writes.

I always make jokes about my mother and her worshiping of Nora Roberts. All her books seemed so silly and predictable to me. But look at me now, giving five starts to this book, which is predictable and at some parts silly. I can always blame it on bloodline or genetic or something, right?
You probably aren't used to me reading the adult novels, you expect that from Glass (I blame her, btw *winks* ), but I have my days. This is one of them. First I'll tell you that if you like Easy, Thoughtless, Falling Under, Beautiful Disaster and others then this is the book for you.
As the title says we're in Dublin this time, Dublin Street to be exact. The story follows Jocely or Joss who moves to Dublin and searching for her apartment she meets one interesting guy in the cab. Trying to forget about him she finds a perfect apartment and a nice and silly roommate. She moves in and few days later in not so comfortable circumstances she meets her roommate's brother who is the cab guy. From that point you could see that somehow they'll end up together. That's the predictable part. Joss likes her relationship with Braden aka the cab guy, cause she doesn't get to attached with anyone. She already lost too much and going through the pain again is not an option. Only problem is when things start to complicate, not only with Braden, but with other people around her. She must break the walls she built years ago but how to find a courage to do so.
I'm really an easy reader or it's easy to please me. Just give me a book with emotions and interesting story and I'm yours. Samantha gave me that in this book. Now she has a new fan. I hope I'll get a chance to read her other books cause I'm curious....more

This is one of those books that I'm happy that I haven't read a blurb. I had no idea about whole coma story and I was really surprised when I figured it out. I believe those who know first part of the book could've been boring. But let's start from the beginning.
Heather is a girl living in the small town and after a lot of bad things that have happened to her she wants to escape and start all over. Only person worth remembering is her friend Creed and well her employee Grandma V. She moves to bigger city and starts college. She has her apartment, job, finds new friends and among them is mysterious guy called Nick. As you start enjoying the story you find out that those are actually her memories and that she is in coma. Suddenly you start reading faster than you can just to see what on earth happened. You're confused cause you don't know what is real and what is her imagination.
I've read other reviews and talked to some bloggers and few of them said that they were confused with the point of view. Cause while you're read the book you mostly read about Heather's memories, but from time to time the doctor jumps in with some question (FYI, she is telling the doctor her memories). For me sometimes I was confused as well. Another time I was happy for that switch, cause Heather's story at some point became little bit boring. Too much details and sometimes repeating for my taste.
Then after you're so close to the ending of the book...how to put it you survive one shock, at least I did. When I figured what and how everything happened. For those people who don't like unfinished ends this end could be a problem. Until you find out that there will be a sequel!
Speaking of which I can't wait to read it, cause I really, really, really wanna know what will happen. But really, you know REALLY! Uh, this is killing me!

Point of RetWhat Glass thought about it...
I am going to be most wanted on the hate list of all fangirls out there because of what I'm about to write.
Point of Retreat was completely unnecessary book.
I believe that it would be better if Colleen Hoover left Will's and Lake's story as it was in Slammed. This was just using success she had with her first novel. Of course that everyone who read Slammed will want to see what's going to happen in Point of Retreat. (If I read once more This was butterflying amazing!, I will burn something down.)
Will's POV would be a big no - it was unrealistic. That is not male's brain. Dear authors, do not, I repeat, do not write from opposed sex point of view if you are not absolutely sure that you can get in their heads. Don't do this if you first haven't done your research - read the books, talk with people until you bore them to death, find pshychologists, social workers, teachers, parents, grandparents and the most important thing: men.
Point of Retreat is, to put it simple, story about sex (not having sex, actually), car accidents and teen-wannbe-adults. As I wrote for the first book, this is see life through big pink glasses type of story with every drama you can imagine mixed with it. Their lives are falling apart but all is peachy in the peachyland. Plot has too many loose ends and somethimes I thought that author forgot how she "made" her characters in the first book. This is not Will from Slammed! Or Edddie! One moment they all are acting like immature idiots and in the other they are all serious And the ending?! Just to make something clear - they are nineteen!!!
But to be honest with you, I found Point of Retreat really cute and mindless read. It's perfect when you need something to escape real life: its cruelty, grayness, unfairness, disapoointments, when you need something that'll give you that fake sense of hope. My review would be all rainbows and flowers and ohs and ahs if I had read this book just a year ago, but I guess that I crushed my big pink glasses a long time ago.
What Tanja thought about it...
Me and Glass have closer views of this book than we had on the first one. Slammed was something that I didn't expect. Not the story itself but my reaction on the story. Point of Retreat wasn't that much. I mean the story was still good and it still had emotions, but it was not it. I must admit one thing Colleen really knows how to write a story with feelings and that's an amazing thing, cause that's what I mostly miss in the books. The problem here is that I expected much more, because of the Slammed.
I won't repeat this about Will's POV and story been focused on sex cause I totally agree! I have one more thing that I couldn't help noticing - Slammed was so easy and quick to read, something always happened, but here I was waiting almost half of the book to get there. I got the feeling like the first story was created in the author's mind for years and Point of Retread in months. I missed slams and lyrics of The Avett Brothers at the beginning of every chapter.
This will maybe sound cruel but without Kiersten and Sherry this book would be total disappointment! They bough so much joy in this book! Not only because of butterfly thing, but also they was something new and funny.
I'll say that I still have my pink glasses and wear them from time to time. In this case I'll put them on, cause if I compared this book with the first one I'd give it three stars but then again if I compared it with another books on my four stars list it will for sure go there.

First I want to apologize for being the worst street team member ever. I haven’t read the book while I was the part of the Inbetween street team, but well I finally read it now.
Inbetween was something totally different for me. I have read a lot of books that dealt with Heaven or Hell, but Inbtween was something new. So as you all know there is Heaven and Hell but there is also something in between, where our main character is stuck. There he meets a girl and everything suddenly becomes different. She is born again and after few years their ways cross again and so Finn once again has to make very important decision. What is the most important to him? Even though after he made that decision, some other souls want to hurt him, so Emma is in danger again and also Finn is in her life again.
Maybe it sounds like a typical boy meets a girl story, but it's really not. Cause the circumstances are unusual and you cannot put this story in the same place with them. Interesting thing in this book is dual POV, which is always good if you ask me. Another thing I like is mystery about the way they met. I like it cause it's explained later on.
I really loved this book. It had everything I could ask for. I could feel it, it had interesting and new story. Even though some parts were somehow too strange, I never judge it, cause this is fiction, so the sky is the limit. It could stay that way but last few chapters changed everything. I wish this book had ended few chapters before the real end. I’d love it more, cause different ending fits more here. But that’s only my opinion....more

Winter Omens continues where Whispers in Autumn stopped. After all those complications Althea is left alone to figure things out. She has to find the way to survive in one place she always run away from - wilds.
But soon enough she meets someone new. His name is Pax and he is just like her. He doesn't fit in those two types of people. He is not an Other but he is also not like everybody else. Together they have to find a way to discover what lays behind. They travel and discover the world how it used to be, before Others came and took control. But are their golds the same and how would they sort their priorities is another thing.
I really like this book, more than Whispers in Autumn. This relationship between Pax and Althea was more dynamic and more interesting to follow. Her relationship with Lucas was sweet and nice, but slow and at some point boring. Pax is different therefore the relationship is too.
To rate this one was hard. It's actually 4.5 stars.

First I should tell you that this is dystopian book (yes later I saw that 2015 in blurb - me being me). In case you're lame like me and don't check the book genre now you know. I was so surprised when I actually realized that cause I though this will be contemporary story and I have no idea why.
So after realizing where I was this story became so interesting. I was so pulled into it that I couldn't stop reading. This book was something new cause the thematic was new. I cannot tell you much cause you should figure it out all by yourself. But the whole mixture of elements and seasons and this story was so good.
Althea is young sixteen-year-old girl, who lives in a world that's normal for her. Her days are mostly routine. Getting up, breakfast, cell, going back home, homework, sleep and then all over again. Of course she does it all with a smile on her face. It all seems perfectly normal for her cause that's the only way of living. Only thing is that she knows she is different. She knows she is not like others and it's not hard to figure that out. Besides she has never seen summer in her life. If you wonder how's that possible you'd be surprised.
All that made me like this book. Even that relationship between her and Lucas I could understand. I'd for sure love this book and gave it trillion stars but there is one problem. It reminded me too much of another series. So even things here were new and appealing I couldn't stop myself. Mostly I could guess what would happen. Still I don't mind that and I'd give this book 3.5 stars. ...more

I found this book at the library few days ago and I was so happy about it. I've read Ann's My name is memory book and I really loved it. Unfortunately the same didn't happen with this book.
This book was such a cliche! From the title you can guess where this story goes and then when you read you have the whole picture, except the end. As always you have three best friends - two sisters and a boy. After growing up together their lives divide. Few years later they all get back to the place where they grow up. Only now things are slightly complicated. They aren't kids anymore and some feelings start to emerge. Just to say, there is not love triangle in this book. Thank Goodness! But still the love story gets complicated. In the meantime some, I must add unexpected, things happen. This was one plus to the story. Another is the sentences. The whole writing, with long narrations I didn't like, but some sentences were lovely. For people who like meaningful and beautiful sentence, have a piece of paper while you're reading this.
You could possibly enjoy this book while you're at the beach. It's easy read with shallow characters and love story. I'm not person for that type of the book (nor I read it at the beach). As you can see huge disappointment this book was for me....more

because my friends I've been waiting for this book for months. I could get the ebook in English any time I wanted, but I was looking for translated copy so that mum and friends can read it too. But someone had other plans. So I finally gave up and took the ebook. Luckily the book was worth waiting.
This doesn't fit the typical genre I read, as it's more woman's fiction, but I make exception from time to time. The reason I picked this one was because everyone said it was really emotional and I love emotional books. They were right, as this book is one of those that'll make you cry.
Here we have a story about a girl Lou who has been stuck in every way possible. Stuck in the small town with the small life, whit the same boyfriend for years and in the same room which was getting too small for her. We also have a story about Will who was complete opposite. He lived the life everyone could admire. Being young and successful in his business, having any girl he wanted and going to any adventure he could think of. Until one day everything was taken from him after the car accident. Irony in life is when you take some much risks and then get cut by accident. Now he became stuck too, in wheelchairs and his desire not to live. But they've got a lot of things to learn from each other.
Don't be tricked and expect some great romance novel for the beach, as it's not that. It has some romantic parts, but it's more about life and taking chances and finding yourself. Lou needed to crash the walls that were built around her life and learn how to live. This is a book that will teach you that it's never too late in life, it's never to late to live....more

When my friend Zemira here, tells you that you must read some book you are most likely to do it for two reasons. First is that the book really is awesome and second is that she will be talking about that book all the time in order to tell you how awesome it is just because she doesn't want you to miss such a great book. But whatever reason it is for those books I'll always be grateful to her.
Now about the book. Where to start? Probably from the beginning. First thing I've noticed about this book is that is really readable. Chapters are interesting, while you're reading about present always some story bumps out and it's explained mostly in that past chapter. Second thing are events. Basically you can't wait to see what's going to happen next. You want to skip some parts just to find out, but again you can't skip anything cause everything is interesting. You just want to see the whole story. Then there is the end, just perfect. I couldn't imagine anything else. Two things I like the most are those two dialogues near the end of the book. Just at the right place and just wow!
Now I'm talking too much. This book is mind blowing and also emotional wreck (you'll become one after this as well). This is also one of those books that I'll keep wondering "what would I do if I were her". Just sit down and you'll read it in one sitting.

This is my first book about plane crash so I honestly had no idea what to expect. My first thoughts were connected with a TV show Lost, cause I used to be a big fan of it. Anyway I was really excited to read this one.
First things you notice in this book is dual POV which is for me an interesting thing. I like it when there are more POVs in a book but of course it means that female writer has to get inside man's head or vice versa. I think that in this cause the work is done pretty well.
As you see in the blurb we have two main characters. Anna the thirty-year-old teacher and T.J. seventeen-year-old student. Everything starts when one year T.J.'s family goes to vocation on Maldives and they hire Anna to tutor their son cause he lost a lot of school time. The reason for that is his cancer. As any other teen T.J. is not happy to spend his holiday like that cause he missed his friends and teen life. Anna on the other side is tired of waiting for her boyfriend to propose and decides that some distance between them is necessary. The problems starts when during their trip to island T.J. and Anna survive the plane crash and soon they're stuck on the isolated island. At the beginning they hoped that the help was coming but as time passed by their hopes disappeared. Being stuck there they have no other option than to find a way to survive. After few months they get into routine and their life on the island becomes bearable. But being alone leaves them a lot of time for thinking about life and everything in general. Soon their lives gets more and more complicated.
I must admit that I was really surprised with this book. It was really readable and easy to follow. It didn't blow my mind or anything but for this type of a book it really has got high rating. This book is perfect for relaxing and enjoying your read without a lot of thinking.

NOTE! This review will contain spoilers if you haven’t read first book in series Water!
Although this book has it’s ups and downs it is really good sequel after Water. In water focus was on elements more than realtions between people. We still contionue to discover new things about elements and here the focus is on air. Just to explain, even thoug everybook in series is named after one of the elements, it doesn’t necesary mean that whole book is only focused on that element. Focus is always on all of them and balance between them. So as I was saying this book is a bit different, because here story tells about Kaitlyn’s feelings and her condition. In Air the story continues. After saving Kaitlyn, Micah and the rest of the team is trying to firnd Shawn. They’re back home and they’re trying to do their best to find him. For Kaitlyn things are harder than usual. She’s been thriugh a lot, but also she has one more thing to carry and that is her baby. She is trying to hide it, but she can hide it for long. Soon enough Micah finds out and things have to change for her. We also meet Alex better here, btw he is really great character in this book. After a lot of things they are going to face with their biggest enemy. What make this book really good is that you never know what’s coming next. Really a lot of things in this book I couldn’t imagine. One of them is the end. It’s completely logical and reasonable but still I didn’t see that coming. One little thing that could have been better (if you ask me) is the relationship between Kaitlyn and Micah. I miss emotions there, whereas when I read Shawn’s name I have no problem with killing him over and over again in my head. All in all, this is still great and unusually series for me. Therefore I can’t wait to get my arc of Fire! ...more

A month or so ago my girl Glass posted her review of this book. If you haven't read it then go and check it out. When she explained to me how much she loved it that was the clue for me to read it. It took me too long to do so and now I can partly regret it cause this book is really great and partly not cause it seems that I'm in this contemporary mood lately.
Do I have to tell you anything more about this book? Glass described it perfectly. At the beginning this book reminded me of some other contemporary books, but soon enough you see that this book has its story for you to love. Echo and Noah are couple you can only love. Their love story will make you laugh, cry and mostly feel, but also I like it cause they don't say those three little words as soon as possible. I also like the dual POV in this book. You can understand them both and feel for them both.
To use those words that Katie says about reading the book until the cover falls of. I'll be one of them as well, but I'll be careful cause I believe you don't want to ruin this perfection (of course those who have it *sigh*)

It's not a secret that I love Iron Fey series. Well there is no way that I wouldn't love something made to look like fairy tale with teens in it. It's simply the kid in me (and trust me that's really big part of me) who loves all parts of Nevernever. I don't have to tell you how happy I was when Julie decided to write a spin-off!
Then it was on NetGalley and Herlequin being awesome, as they are, approved me. You can only imagine how thrilled I was. But before I tell you my impressions can I ask you all for a favor. If you're planing on reading this beside reading Iron Fey first you should really read those short novellas, especially Iron Prophecy in this case. Now when we settled that let's move to the Lost Prince.
You all remember little Ethan don't you? That little kid who started all of it and bough Nevernever to us. You do....well let me tell you something that little man is not so little anymore. Few years after everything that happened we're back into Chase house, only this time Meghan is not around and now Ethan has a story to tell. For years he's been trying to deal with all the consequences, all by himself and it's not an easy task. Losing his sister he didn't have other choice than to blame all the fey world. That wasn't easy when you're one of those people who can actually see them. Even though not all fey is the same but one thing they have in common, they all want people to see them and when they realize that you can see them, well you won't have a nice time. Even thought he avoided fey world as much as he could circumstances made him go back to the realm and not just him but two of his friends as well. That's where the magic happens.
Being back to Nevernever is something special. Even though the story rolls around Ethan you still get a chance to catch Ash, Megan, Puck and of course furball, who could forget him. This book was really good and I really enjoyed. Ethan's POV was at some points much better than Meghan's. Still deep down I believe this story will become even better. I have no doubts in that. I cannot wait to go back into Nevernever.

I guess that I can’t stand those crying teen girls anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I do understand that some people are more emotional than others but for Christ’s sake everything has its limits. But well let’s talk about the story.
So as you probably know from the blurb here we have typical teen love story in not so typical environment. This whole story is such a cliche except that part about Amish society. I find them interesing as majority of people does, but as always something different and non-conventional is always interesting. That part of this book I really like, I mean that which tells us about their beliefs, rules and lives. While other things I just couldn’t get over with. First is this annoying girl Rose. Oh dear lord, but her crying drow me crazy. Not to mention that she is 16. Beg my pardon but decisions and actions of today’s teens isn’t something that I fully approve and support. That’s why I couldn’t understand this girl. Even though some of Noah’s actions could be discussed but he is raised like that. Now you’ll say that Rose is growing up and she is raised in modern society. She is, but so am I and my friends but we, for sure, aren’t behaving like that. Anayway I won’t brag let’s just say that younger girls will maybe find this story heartbreaking and amazing but I can’t.
One last thing, I was able to like the whole story even though I could see how it'd end, but I was shocked when I saw that this is series uhh. I dunno about that but I can already see it
Yes I’m usually for drama, but not here, not in this story.

It's hard to say anything after reading this book. Beautiful story. I thought that first book was amazing, but this one was much better. I was surprised also. Somehow after book two I thought that this series won't be as good as it was at the beginning but here I'm, taking those words back.
In this book you'll meet character better, their story and love and friendship. Meghan is different now. She knows what she has to do and she is willing to do everything to keep Nevernever safe. Ash will be by her side but even winter price can't keep her always safe. She will find her purpose here but will costs be too high?
Ash, me dear, don't give up. I'm sure that there is army of us "regular humans" to support you and believe in you.

At the end I always manage not to listen to myself. I know that a lot of you won't agree with me about this book and yes true, maybe it doesn't deserve 5 stars and maybe the writing could've been better and so on. But I enjoyed in this book and that's the only thing that matters.
It's hard to say anything about the story as too much is said in the summary. If you, like me, don't read blurbs then you'll be surprised or better said shocked, again as me, when you find out about the accident. Jake is like any other senior year student. He plays football, hangs out with his friend and thinks about his future. Everything seemed normal until the accident. He thinks that for him everything is over, because he is not like "normal" people again. He is mute. Only after one person shows him her real self and everything she bares on her shoulders he will understand that not being able to talk isn’t the worst thing that could ever happen to you.
So this is story about teenagers and all the stupid decisions they make, all the doubts they have and all the words and actions that they're afraid to say or make. This is also the story about life. At the end this is the story that will made you consider your actions and maybe change your views. That's why I'm putting this book on my YA Saves Reading Challenge.

At the otherFirst of I want to apologize for not reading this book earlier. I got this book a while ago and I was waiting this whole time to read it. At the other hand that's a good thing as I'm reading contemporary books these days.
This is one of those situations when I hate the blurb. I wasn't planing on reading it but it was at the beginning of the book so I read it. What do I hate it? Because it reveals too much. I wish some things are left secret like pregnancy. The book is mostly what you see in the blurb, there is a boy and the girl, for some reasons (I'll talk about it later) they do something "stupid" and now they have to deal with. Only thing you're curious is the end. Even though I would change some things here, like repeating some things over and over again I find this book something that teens should read. Hopefully they'll learn some things on time.
Why I say so? Well I couldn't relate with any of the characters here (maybe if I was seventeen I would, but I highly doubt). I asume that there are the teens that think this way. We live in the time where values aren't set right, so some would do anything to keep someone not realizing that they give everything and another person nothing. Yes I'm talking about sex. Here Syd has done that, she slept with his boyfriend thinking this is right thing to do and without using protection. That's why she has to strugle with the pregnancy.
I don't judge teens here, just so you know, I judge society. Regardless on that, the thing that confused me the most here are the parents. I mean I do understand that focus of this book are teens themselves and their friends but those few times when parents appeared I was lost. Maybe I was raised differently but I couldn't understand how parents let all this slide, mostly. Sure my Ma would do everything to help me but she would also have few thing to tell me. For sure nothing would change but still...
All in all I'm not fascionated with the book or writing, but I also believe this book could help some if they found themselves in this situation....more
I've received this book a while ago via NetGalley, but I've been waiting until the publishing date getsReview also posted on my blog - Ja čitam, a ti?
I've received this book a while ago via NetGalley, but I've been waiting until the publishing date gets closer so I can do my review. In the meantime I saw plenty of reviews, good and bad - if you're asking where I'm, I'll say in the middle. While reading the summary, this book might remind you of some other dystopian book. It reminded me, but regardless I wanted to read this book, cause as I've said many time before I like dystopian books. So few days ago I picked up this book and started. After 50 pages I stopped. If you wonder why - the main character kept talking and talking and describing. I was tired after 50 pages without proper dialogue. Then I decided that I'll read this book no matter what. Another 50 pages or describing and then finally something is happening. So basically if you survive first part of this book you'll be able to enjoy later. After Zoe described you her life and community you come to the very interesting part - glitching. I mean it was talking about it before but not until Adrien explained all that you couldn't understand it completely. Adrien is also one of the "glitchers" as well as some other faces that you'll meet later. The middle of the book was the most interesting and I started liking this book very much. But last part was totally opposite of the first part. Some decisions were, let's say more than stupid and I wanted to scream so loud. Maybe some balance between those parts wouldn't be bad thing. This book has good and bad parts, but I won't go into details (that would include spoilers and I don't want to do that). Hopefully sequel Override will be better.

In some parts of the book I really enjoyed while I just wanted to skip some of them. I expected more originality here. Yes, I haven't read dystopian book with vampires but I don't see some really huge difference in general between this and some other dystopian story. But let me tell you more about the story.
Allie is young girl and main character of the story. She is living in the world after plague. Now the vampires are the rulers of the city where Allie lives. She and couple of her friends who are Unregistrated are trying to survive on the other side of the wall. Life there is hard, they need to fight for their lives and in the meantime they also need to stay away form vampires on the other side of the wall. Good thing in this book is that vampires are described like a bad-ass monsters. Not some creatures craving for love. They are blood-suckers and they live according to that. OK, except Allie later but she is young.
After going on the other side of the wall Allie and her friends get attacked. She is saved and only way to survive is to become who she hates the most - a vampire. She doesn't want to die in a way to disappear forever, so she dies and becomes creature of the dark. Her savior is Kanin who will try to learn her how to survive. After series of events (I don't want to put spoilers in this review) she is alone on her own. In her attempt to survive she discovers a group of humans who are trying to find paradise on destroyed earth. One member of that group is young boy Zeke. They are chased by group of dangerous people. Will they survive and find what they're looking for? What will happen between Zeke and Allie? Get the book and find out.
Point is that this book is not bad. Only it was painfully long, if it was 100 pages shorter I'm sure I would enjoy more. Other things that could have been better are: Allie, she is not bad character in general, but some of her decisions I couldn't understand; Zeke, he definitively isn't the character that I'll fall for. True, he is very young and naive, but still some of his decisions were disaster for me. If somebody asks me I'd prefer to see Kanin instead of him with Allie. But that doesn't mean that good old love-triangle won't be in the second book.
All in all, I can say that I expected more, because of all those 5 star reviews. Still, I expect book two to be better.
It's actually 3.5 stars.
I want to thank Harlequin Teen for providing me this arc. ...more
