Before starting this book, I was reading Joe Abercrombies First LAw Trilogy, then I got a kindle for my birthday and got so excited that I downloaded Seersof Light and began reading. Since my other book is a slow read I got into Seers of Light and was stuck reading 2 books. Really, I did not give them their due, books should be cherished one at a time. Anyways. This book is special to me for extremely shallow reasons, one being the fact that it was my first kindle read and two is the main characters name. Lilian. Yep, shallow I know! That being said, this was a pretty mindless book. Unrealistic in so many ways, even worse than fairytales. It also read as a Y.A. book, since the vocab and grammer appeared pretty childish. However, it's apparent from the randomly thrown swear words and light sex scenes that it's not supposed to be Y.A. Fail. Buuuuuuuuuutttt I don't want to be too harsh on the book, just for Lilians sake. There were some cute moments, if you're looking for a fantasy equivalent to a brainless Y.A. HEA go for it :P...more

It's very rare for me to find a humorous book that actually makes me laugh. This fit the bill. What did it for me is the amazing cast of characters. Everybody was perfect! And I mean everyone, starting from the Perrones and ending with Nellie (Rolvaags neighbour). I especially loved O'toole's character, hahahahha! Epic! For some reason I found myself feeling sorry for Chaz,,, huuh?! ya, I know! It's just that the guy is such a total fuckup, I can't get angry at him, he's too pathetic! Surprisingly, throughout the book I wanted to chaz to have a semi-happy ending? Ok, what does this say about me! The man murdered his wife for pretty much no reason and I want him to have a happy ending! Oh god. I gave it a 4 just because I like to be stingy with my 5 star ratings. ...more

Very satisfied with this book. I haven't read a PnR in ageees and I had forgotten how fast and enjoyable they could be, brainless, but soooo entertaining! It had all the elements to make it a succesful PnR. A ditzy , balsy, heroine. A sexy as hell, sizzling hero. The slightly mad bad guy. The wise man character who always appears at a critical time in the story, as if by magic, to guide our lost heroine. and of course the multitude of colorful characters.
This is exactly the break I needed from the lame books I've been venturing in. Can't wait till I read the second installment. Kinda bummed there are only 4 books in this series.
I'm hoping we'll get to see more of Drake in the later books. I did NOT get enough of him. Okay, now on to the thing that pisses me off in PnR. Don't hate on me for this, but doesn't anyone get infuriated with the unrealistic sex scenes? Really!? So turned on that she can't think straight, that she had to have sex pretty much in plain view of the world. I really don't understand this. Does this magnitude of lust even exist in reality!? ...more

All topics are covered brutally, love, war, frndship, sex, talking ... WALKING. Everything is done with brutality. It's awesome. Why do I keep giving his books 4 stars? Because frankly I'm used to "the sword of clarity and helmet of truth" kinda books. As my Friend Amany likes to call them :P. The likes of WOT and Sword of Truth. With happy endings, impossible magical abilities, the hero does something miraculous when it is needed, good VS evil, etc. The first law is my introduction to this new kind of Fantasy, actually wait a minute! It isn't, Game of Thrones is and I hated that! Now it makes sense why I must have hated that book so much while everyone adored it, okay I'm deviating. Back to Before they are hanged. It went a bit slow , but I've already established that fast reads are not nesecarily good reads and vice versa. I adore the characters, flaws and all, actually even more so FOR their flaws. I noticed that magic is not really a key element in this book and although I loove magic in books this is a breath of fresh air. I'm STILL hoping for a semblance of a happy ending though in The Last Argument of Kings, this book ended on a note of despair and I'd like to see some good news! Going out to buy the last book today yay :D...more

The story is very interesting I must admit, but I just could not relate to the characters one bit. I did not understand why they where acting a certian way, they didn't feel real to me, and there were many faulty logic moments which left me going huh? Like with most FPOV stories you cant tell what's going on with other characters, but in this book I feel like everybody else is completely insignificant to the plot, they were just filers that provided Kvothe with a way to amaze us with his super witty/smart/sharp/etc. conversations. Don't even get me started on the romantic plot. I did not feel it AT ALL. It was so random and based on.. nothing. *sigh*. HOWEVER, I liked this book. :P I know I just spent a whole paragraph dissing it and now I'm saying I like it. But I did, despite the fact tht I could not relate to the characters, I related to the story. There were some pretty good parts that kept me at the edge of my seat, well my bed, whatever. :P. So, I am looking forward to The Wise Man's Fear and I'm going to disregard the glitches in this book, considering it's still the first and it's more of an introduction. All in all, I recommend it. ...more
