In Skyship Academy: The Pearl Wars, we learned that Jesse and Cassius both are Drifters or simply put aliens from out of Earth. Jesse and Cassiu's parents had lived on until their planet became unstable so they had to send their people off their planet , although The Authority who is composed of people who are coming from Haven (Jesse Fisher and Cassius Stevenson's home planet) who happen to be Shifters and are capable of manipulating a rare element called Ridium are trying to bring down the opposition of Green Pearl Drifters who are really part of the Rebellion of Haven. Ridium is a special pure black substance that has . The Authority are Haven's royalty including the branch of all Shifters but are now enemies to Jesse and Cassius as well as all Drifters since Jesses and Cassiu's parents are members of the rebellion against the monarchy full of Shifters. You see part of the reason, Haven had become unstable was because of the shifters manipulating Ridium in the first place which made Haven very much unhospitable environmentally-wise. Adaylla and Savon (Founders of Haven's resistance) had rebelled against the wishes of The Authority when they didn't want to cooperate in conquering Earth as their planet collapsed. Finally, we learn that Jesse is the Pearl Breaker while Cassius is the one who harnesses the recess energy from Jesse's pearl breaking into fire power. They are Earth's hope to truly stop The Authority from invading Earth. In Crimson Rising, Jesse searches for a way to build an army of Green Pearl Drifters before The Authority reaches Earth although stopping events from unfolding can go both ways. Jesse encouters a Red Pearl for the first time that seems to be a member of the dangerous Authority. Jesse is distracted though occasionally since Avery the girl he really likes had previously been captured. With Avery's return they meet Theo who quickly becomes one of the most dangerous enemies of the brothers. Theo really shows us the dangerous but amazing powers of a Shifter who can control Ridium. Jesse in the end must suffer losses even as he must remain strong for the war that inevitably looms between the Green Pearls Breakers Drifters and Red Pearl Drifters.
Nick Jame's Skyship Academy: Crimson Rising was very entertaining. To be honest here and now while did get immersed in Skyship Academy: The Pearl Wars was much slower reading in pace or ocassionally loss any alarming quality that would keep you at the edge of your seat while you took it in. Now with Crimson Rising the potential that actually knew existed from The Pearl Wars exceeded in expectations in Crimson Rising. Got umbelievably far better. The action, a huge wow, increased to a kick-start by several degrees. A lot of things are moving into the grandeur scheme of the stale-mate between Green Pearl Drifters and Red Pearl Drifters which is rather good. The action and adventure also increased to any readers who had previously enjoyed Skyship Academy: The Pearl Wars (which did, by the way). Given to you the reader as short and sweet: Awesome Science Fiction reading! Overall: Amazing read! Genre: Science Fiction, Dystopian, Steampunk, Young Adult ...more
Deuce is a girl that has been raised in an environment that is higly tough.--Full, non-spoiler review courtesy at Book & Movie Dimension a Blog--
Deuce is a girl that has been raised in an environment that is higly tough. You have to be though to survive Freaks. Zombie-like humans that act like monsters that eat people and even people that are alive! So into the world of Enclave nobody survives too long so you usually die in your early twenties. Its much like living in the middle ages with bad sanitary conditions and widespread disease which there is too. So many people die from many reasons. Deuce is soon paired with Fade who isn't like everyone at the Enclave society. Obviously when someone is different from the others in a community there is a dislike for that individual or at least suspicion. Fade is not liked and seen often as an outsider especially when he was found outside the community and managed to survive extremely young among Freaks until he was rescued by the Enclave community. He was from The Surface where things aren't the same. He really doesn't believe in the rules set in the Enclave. Then when something shocking happens Deuce is forced to side with Fade on an important matter that consist of the matter that Freaks may be getting smarter in their attacks toward regular people she is exiled from the Enclave. The easiest way to survive is to live on The Surface so Deuce and Fade head hopefully to a better place. While Fade and Deuce seek shelter it becomes becomes apparent that Fade sees her in a deeper way than just well a "hunting partner". Although on The Surface there is a lot more danger than they first believed. They meets gangs of fighting boys called the Wolves and some awful people.
Stalker, the leader of the Wolves, tries to kill and take Deuce as a slave prisoner solely for breeding. Stalker has another thing coming since , Deuce , has been trained inside The Enclave as a fierce warrior. She easily takes them and makes a new friend named Tegan. She isn't exactly like , Fade or herself , but Deuce feels they must attempt to protect her on the idea that figthers should protect those that aren't truly fighters. Still even more bad things come to The Surface from down below in The Enclave areas and left behind. Ann Aguirre creates a very exciting Dystopian book with a combination of some new tidbits of something of its own. There are no boring moments in Enclave. Goes by really fast having to do with it being rather enjoyable. Overall: Amazing read! Genre: Science Fiction, Dystopian, Young Adult, Romance...more
Well this was a book that first found about on Civilian Reader blog. When go--Full, non-spoiler review courtesy at Book & Movie Dimension a Blog--
Well this was a book that first found about on Civilian Reader blog. When got around to reading the review at the blog couldn't hold myself back in not getting it. So in a very quick manner bought it off Amazon.com. The premise sounded fun where Horror is concerned and also the idea of zombies outrunning humanity so only a few survivors remained then by a strange twist of fate a vampire awoke to a zombie apocalypse that resulted in him fighting for a limited food supply. This has to make anyone who reads zombie books to salivate after all its a really new, interesting take. In any case, it did for me since never heard or thought about zombies having to compete for food. The world of books is fast becoming filled with stories of zombies and Double Dead impresses with its huge uniqueness that's a loaded gun of gore with a generous amount of suspenseful action. The character develompment is something that is inded great. Coburn is a rather glum figure in Double Dead who's the main character and yes a vampire. He views humans nothing more as food and takes to often being snide which though you know its something as mean-spirited also in this instance is actually amusing:
He and Creampuff hid amongst a nest of dry reeds, watching. A fat man came out of the camper, a windbreaker as big as a four-person tent dvaped across his body. Coburn marveled at the man's size Here it was, the end of the world, the gates of Hell ripped open so that all of its rotting souls could come tumbling out, and this is shit-heel somehow managed to remain morbidly obese. But hey, the vampire thought who cares Big boy means big blood. Buckets of the stuff. Gallons . His toes curled just thinking about it.
As the book moves forward it reaches somewhat of a dull hopeless tone with what's going on and how the world is being taken over by zombies. Coburn finds that there may be real hope to humanity with , Kayla, who may be some kind of cure to the zombie apocalypse. Chuck Wendig did an amazing job with humour in his writing even when we are talking about a zombie apocalypse here. As for the writing he made every moment intriguing in the way he maintained a steady clip of movement in the story that immerses every instant.
Really happy that discovered Chuck Wendig's Double Dead and even now looking forward to discovering his other novels as well. One in particular Blackbirds which luckily was allowed to review this title by Netgalley. And expect a review for Blackbirds too. Double Dead is an amazing read in the growing reading pile of vampires and zombies with a brand-new incorporation. Overall: Amazing read! Genre: Horror, Zombies, Vampires ...more
Shatter Me as of late have seen on many blogs as well as reads picked up by dedicated reader--Review courtesy from Book & Movie Dimension a Blog--
Shatter Me as of late have seen on many blogs as well as reads picked up by dedicated readers. While its dystopian and sort of the type of novel compared to novels out there it also is really unique. Tahareh uses a lot of numbers and description to get her point across. While at times its confusing it's also really interesting to read. In any case easy to enjoy as a good entertainment.
Juliette has been locked up by a new governement regime that got established when the world slipped io manto a haphazardouswant to even existence. People hardly can survive at all know. While everyone has been dying Juliette has been locked up in an insane asylum. The reason is for having the lethal touch to snuff out people's life. Her power was discovered by the authorities after she accidentally killed little boy. Warner a military leader's son of the new government which is The Reestablishment has had his eye on Juliette. Finally he's called for her and is trging to get her trust so she can become part of his team of murderers in society. Juliette though doesn't want to even if society has hurt her so much. Warner though is intent on making Juliette part of his team but also wants her to want him. Juliette though feels something more for Adam a boy she can remember from way back before even before the Re-establisment was all powerful. Adam also seems to know though they can't be together, so they must plan an escape plan to be together. Warner though isn't going to make it easy for them. He's obsessed with Juliette's power and with her also!
He's not exactly the good guy obviously but actually like with Juliette since he's so very fascinating. Although he can off very strongly. He's just more there than Adam. Get to reading to find it out for yourselves. Overall: Amazing read! Genre: Science Fiction, Dystopian, Young Adult, Romance ...more
