It was really interesting and it leaves you with, a good appreciation of it until the end. The story of a boy who is willing to go through great lenghts to restore his family's happiness. He may not find what he discovers in his journey to be pleasant but that's what leaves a mark on us as the reader. It really is a book gem. You really must read it, the ending is unexpected but understandable.

Melaia a girl who does't expect much beyond her High priestess duties discovers an intrugiung world that is full of danger. I'd label it an average attempt at a period fantasy. There are some good moments. The characters make for a pretty good story. Its not too bad, I will continue to read the series in the future. (less)
When a huge natural disaster strikes in the world people are forced to do the crazy out of desperation. Alex a young adult must grow up for himself while the life he's known shatters. Feels completely life-numbing while the story unfolds. Mike Mullin's first novel is a science fiction hit!
Being a sailor as his life didn't prepare Lucky Valera to live a regular life of a boy on land instead out at sea. It doesn't prepare for a long-lost brother. A not-so-wanted older brother at that. Quickly learning blood is thicker than water. Lucky must sokn choose what he has known as his life or a new purpose. Deeply spiritual till the end with humor which will keep you reading with great interest.
Beatrix Ling ,a teen misfit, wants nothing more than to belong in a place where she can be accepted. All her life she's been shunned and when she meets a dazzling young man named Ringmaster he knows things about her she can't resist. Completely fun read that's fast-paced with lost of adventure in between. A good care-free fantasy about learning to accept yourself and your search to get there. Beatrix is a brave girl I loved reading about along with her space adventures.

Growing up is hard for a tight-knit group of childhood friends who discover they don't have a lot in common after many years. They have but one thing in common which they have lost. Containing witty sarcasm even in heavily tragic moments. A delicate simplicity is well-drilled into this novel making it all the more winning. (less)
Rini is a girl that moves with her cousin for a temporary time as her parents try to rekindle their relationship. Rini is a very admirable female lead because she's willing to stand up against snobby people. She's not quiet and that's a really great quality which made me like reading all the more. As her stay proves to be heading for strange she uncovers a dark world filled with transforming beasts. Yet, of all, things one of the scary beasts is a guy Rini might be closer to. Hopefully he wont eat her like the other beasts. Book 1 of the Mundahlia Era will give readers some serious bad guys, hot romance, and some very scary monsters. Mundahlia is only the beginning of what I'm sure will be a wonderful fantasy series!(less)
Prepare yourself for this debut novel that is a perfect piece of dystopian writing. Neva is a sixteen-year old girl who has a complete hidden rebellious nature. A spirit like that could never survive in a world that has been closed off from the outside in a protective bubble called The Protectosphere. The government says that its for everyone's good to stay inside it. As she runs and runs to seek what can be on the outside her life is bared to its sad, resigned nature. Even Neva is forced to examine herself by having to choose between Braydon who ignites excitement in her--who's also her best-friend's boyfriend -- or freedom from living a life utterly blank of faith. All those around Neva have their secrets and things that they have been through making you either question them or feel for them. Dark Parties is an overwhelmingly exciting novel wrapped in hope and mystery with characters who are very much praise-worthy.

I'll start off first off with the fact that, I hadn't ever read any books beforehand by Maggie Stiefvater. Although, I had heard great things from blogs I frequent and on Goodreads.com about how really good her books are especially her "Wolves of Mercy Falls" trilogy. A while later I set out to buy her books in e-book form (electronic form) but never really got around to reading them. Then, while looking through one of my favorite book blogs- Dark Faerie Tales. I saw that there was a new book by Maggie Stiefvater soon to be released named " The Scorpio Races". My curiousity got the better of me finally so I just had to read "The Scorpio Races" since it wasn't going to be about vampires, werewolves, or zombies but something new and intriguing- dangerous magical water horses. Imagine anyone's surprise as you are placed in the mind of Sean Kendrick, returning champion of The Scorpio Races, as he instills into us a thought-provoking account of how water horses or capaice uisce where he lives in an island of Thisby can be the death of you at every turn. He knows all to well how his own father feared the sea and his water horse, Corr, who he is ultimately killed by. Sean leaves us with the thought "that he'll never be fearful like his father". As the years pass, Sean is adopted by a very wealthy man. He is also allowed to ride Corr in the Scorpio Races in the island. With Corr by his side he's managed to win several times. The story also moves from Sean to Kate Connoly's perspective with a more feminine outlook. Kate or rather she goes by "Puck" is far more emotional than the hardened Sean. While Sean is quiet and keeps all his thoughts to himself, Kate is different. Kate while being very decent and naive can also be very courageous when the situation requires it. She quickly learns that her oldest brother will be leaving Thisby. So in a moment of great impulse decides to enter The Scorpio Races. To Kate its a chance to stop him from leaving her and their family forever. Along, the way we see Kate and Sean struggle to know their real reasons for being in the races. The races throw these two together and they realize that there is more at stake than just winning. Of all the things, I loved about The Scorpio Races, the main thing is how well the different character perspectives were handled. You never get confused or exasperated by a change in character narration. It moves forward seamlessly. Lastly, love very much how the description of language is so very alive. It whispers and touches you while inviting you behind the action of the story. Maggie Stifvater's "The Scorpio Races" is something else entirely in Young Adult-Fantasy that is very hard to describe but you sure have to read.
