Clary and Jace aren't as annoying as I found them to be in the previous books where they were angsting over each other and kept wanting to jump each other's bones. And it ends with a few cliffhangers.
Now that the gang is back to together, I'm excited to see more parabatai-ness between Jace and Alec since we didn't get much of that up till now. For me the parabatai element is the most interesting part of this series, which is heavy on the romance more than anything. There is a bit of that parabatai connection in the epilogue, as well as the Lightwood siblings interaction, which is something I like about the books. So I'm really hoping we get the same amounts of parabatai-ness like we do with Jem and Will. And it's great to see more Alec being all badass. Jumping of walls and stuff when he was fighting Camille and his archery in the battle....really nice.
On character development, Clary comes a bit into her own as a Shadowhunter fighter. She isn't the best of them yet as she's new to it all but she did okay. As the main female protagonist, it's really important that Clary develops more as a character and she did a bit. I mean, Clary stabbed Jace when she saw no other alternative to stopping Sebastian, and knowing that Jace had a high chance of dying.
So I had this wild, random thought while I was reading the epilogue conversation between Clary and Brother Zachariah: What if he's Jem or Will? Wouldn't that be a twist! Ha, I don't know the probability of it being possible but yeah, wild and random thought.
And Sebastian's teleporting mansion reminds me of Howl's Moving Castle. A LOT.
There were a lot of bare feet being mentioned in the first, like, quarter of the book which is....weird. Lol.
AND. Magnus broke up with Alec! This totally shocked me. It's understandable though since Alec lied to him and considered shortening Magnus's life behind his back. Cause that's sort of like losing a limb for a warlock, isn't it? They're my otp for this book series and there it goes, my feels. Though, I have high hopes that they will get back together. Or maybe Magnus will forgive Alec overtime and become friends again, or something. (less)
