Yes Tony Danza is an actor, but he really does try and become a good English teacher at an inner city school in Philadelphia. This would be a good read for any first year or about to become first year teacher. What he goes through and the issues his students deal with are very touching and sad. (less)

Born in Ethiopia during the TB outbreak in the early 1970s he and his sister were adopted by a couple in Sweden. His journey from Swedish footballer (soccer for Americans)to world known chef is a very interesting one filled with lots of stops along the way. Narrated by Chef Samuelsson I found this memoir to be quite humbling and less ego filled than other chef memoirs I could name. (less)

These stories chronicle his life from his early life in Ohio, to growing up in Malibu. His time spent in Malibu was with the Sheen brothers and Penn brothers. He is honest with himself about his out of control time in the 1980s and his time in rehab. Really enjoyed his frank honesty and as an audiobook he was a superb narrator. (less)

Tina Fey is very funny and she tries not to be too condescending. I really enjoyed her early comedy experiences. Also her stuff on working motherhood is pretty well right on target. Some parts did drag, but all and all an amusing memoir. (less)

Michael J Fox has had an extraordinary career as an actor, but an even more extraordinary career as an advocate for Parkinson's Disease. This uplifting book is a great gift for any graduate who is wondering where his or her life will go. (less)

Rhoda's husband leaves her for another man. That same week she gets into a bad car accident. She moves back to California to stay with her parents while she recuperates. She reconnects with her Mennonite roots that she left when she joined the academic world. This book was very touching in some places and laugh out loud funny in other places. (less)

However, vegetarians and vegans may not find this book as enjoyable as I did. She does talk about the slaughtering & eating of the animals she raised. However, one thing I've been frustrated by in this country is our removal of where the food comes from. Novella knows where the majority of her food comes from, she raises it herself. Anyone who is interested in growing stuff in a city environment should read this book. (less)

Her family is truly funny. Thank goodness I never had an experience at sleep away camp like she did. This would make a good book club read. (less)
