I feel like the story was a little rushed for all the things that went on. I really wish there would have been more of everything!
More on Fleur and her sister... What happened to Louisa after she left? Why didn't she come back? I would've liked more background to the girls life before their parents died. I need MORE! Good thing there are more books, hopefully they're less rushed!
The concept is FABULOUS!
One thing I have to mention- only because it is a huge pet peeve of mine- is spelling mistakes. Now I realize I make up words all the time and possibly even use them out of context quite often... but I like to think it's part of my charm. However, when I'm reading a book I find it unacceptable.
Glaring at me from the first page of Afterlife is the word 'surealness'. Now I would not have said anything if it was spelled 'surrealness' because the base word is 'surreal'. There are a few other minor things such as,
"That is why I have no other moral but to tag this book as 'afterlife'. "
What? I mean I GET what this means... but it makes no sense, so am I taking it out of context or is this a mistake? Am I a loser? Sorry, I just HAVE to mention these things just because I'd want to be made aware of them before I bought it!
This is what I would loosely call a *short story* it was 100 pages on my Nook, but Goodreads says the paperback is 196 pages... Just FYI!

I do not know HOW he does it- time and time again I am BLOWN AWAY by his ability to freaking ROCK MY FACE OFF with awesome. Is it apparent to everyoneI do not know HOW he does it- time and time again I am BLOWN AWAY by his ability to freaking ROCK MY FACE OFF with awesome. Is it apparent to everyone that I’m INDEED a SUPER FAN of Rusty Fischer? I know right?
In true Rusty Fischer style, he’s created something uber unique and wicked fun!
Vampires hunting vampires for the good of mankind… the the PLAN anyway.
Lily, Alice and Cara are ‘Sisters’… HOPING to become Saviors someday! Saviors are the END all- BE ALL of vampy badass. Vamp infestation? Who ya gonna call? The SAVIORS baby! Where as Sisters go in and try to STOP an infestation BEFORE it happens!
“Like some kind of vampire superheroes on steroids, they swoop into town wearing their red leather jumpsuits and sleek motorcycle boots, wielding their monogrammed stakes and personal-sized crossbows, cutting down vampires left and right.” (The Saviors)
Lily, Alice and Cara are sent on a new assignment in Raven’s Roost where they believe a Vamplayer is stalking the students of the very exclusive Nightshade high.
“It’s a lot of pressure being one of the only three girls responsible for nearly two thousand mortals and stopping a Vampire Armageddon,” ~Lily
One of my favorite things about Rusty Fischer’s books are all his little extras!! I realize a lot of authors strive to set their mythological creatures apart from the ‘pack’ so to speak, but no one quite accomplishes it like Rusty Fischer!!
“It’s a little known fact that vampires are absolute sugar fiends. Like, crack addict-style sugar fiends.”
This makes me SUPER happy… Not even joking a little bit. There’s an ongoing joke that I could never be a vamp because of my candy addiction! Can we just say: Skittle Vampiress FTW!
Okay, moving on…
I totally loved our sarcastic and super fabulous heroine Lily, but I had a major soft spot for her ‘promiscuous’ BFF, Alice!! (I know right?)
“See if they have any photo galleries of the sports team,” she [Alice] says. “I need to know if I should pack slutty or, you know, extra slutty.”
“I know where you’ll fit best,” she [Cara] says to Alice … “Right in some jock’s arms.” “Or two,” I [Lily] say, “if he has a friend.”
If you hadn’t noticed, my reviews for Rusty Fischer books tend to run a bit heavy on the quotes… oh believe me, I could’ve added MORE!! I literally fight the urge to quote about every other paragraph for some sort of AWESOME!
I realize this review is getting a tad lengthy… but I must sat a few more things: Grover and Zander … EPIC FREAKING WIN! Two Star-Wars geek guys that totally stole my heart! Not an easy feat either, considering when anything remotely resembling ‘Deep Space Nine’ (is this a correct reference even? Lol) usually has me running the other way!
Tristan. Yeah… you’re totally just going to LOVE (to hate) him!!
Vamplayers has everything I’ve come to expect from reading one of Rusty Fischer’s books; snarky humor, witty characters, fast-paced plot and above all- complete and utter AWESOME!!!
Vamplayers has secured it place indefinitely on my favorites shelf, right next to Zombies Don’t Cry!
*Just a quick note… Goodreads says Vamplayers is ‘Book Two in A Living Dead Love Story’ I do not believe this is correct. Zombies Don’t Cry (also one of MY SUPER FAVS EVER was ‘Book ONE in A Living Dead Love Story’ and IF I’m recalling correctly- which I totally might not be, Rusty had said the something about there being a Living Dead Love Story sequel… but he didn’t mention Vamplayers being it!*...more

Portia and her friends set out to track Vance down and when they find him- Portia does the very LAST thing I expect! She freaking punched him in the face for leaving her! Ha! I love it! She is yelling up a storm, then Vance goes all dreamy on her and kisses her in that 'Oh so yummy' Vance-a-licious way! *sigh*
"I love you." he said, his words penetrating my mind as his lips ravaged mine.
After a very emotionally charged reunion, they set their sights on finding Vance's father... and what they find is SO much worse than any of them could have predicted!
Oooh The Demon Kiss is just as electric and intense as the first book was! Vance and Portia are sooo super cute together. Vance is wicked sexy, even with his red eyes that mark him as part demon! *swoon* If anything, this makes him hotter, because he's dangerous!

Brooke is wicked freaked out and more than a little confused, after a mountain lion in the woods nearly attacked her and her best friend Kaitlynn. What's even more upsetting is she's also sure she saw a MAN beckon this lion back to him after their near attack. (I know right?)
Just her luck that some creepy guy with a weird pet would start following her around when Jaren FINALLY decides to ask her out! Jaren and Brooke are so super cute together!!!
"Jaren tasted sweet like faded strawberry red vines and bliss." ~ Aww, their first kiss! Red vines?? EPIC Win.
While settling in at Jaren's apartment, the man from the woods comes to the door and DEMANDS Brooke go with him- to his 'Lady'. Jaren tries to protect her, but the man throws him off like a rag doll! Brooke goes all Matrix on him and KILLS the guy.
Brooke calls her mother, tells her what happened and her mom is surprisingly calm when she tells her to go immediately to her Uncle's house and they'll take care of everything. *gasp* Come to find out, Brooke's mother has been keeping a very BIG secret from her...
Brooke is HALF VAMPIRE, born from her father's lineage. Jaren freaks out when he hears the news, and tells her that he needs some time to 'think'... but whether he likes it or not, he's in it for the long haul because the vampires that are after Brooke will be after him too.
Her mother and uncle decide the best course of action is to put her in the capable hands of Mirko. Sexy, dark, hot, sexy, yummy, delicious, dangerous Mirko...
Kaitlynn, Jaren, Mirko and Brooke all get to the compound and Jaren suddenly gets all goobery over some other vamp chick and Brooke is not happy,
"If Ms. Georgia [referring to said vamps southern accent]wanted to play games with me, I would knock her tiara off her head so fast , she'd get whiplash." ~Brooke... yeah, she's fiesty and I LOVE it!
Mirko is to train Brooke and help her learn to protect herself in case of an emergency situation. Then after an 'incident' forces Brooke to take drastic measures in self-defense against another person inside the compound- they leave to seek training from a very old and respected vampire...
They find out Brooke's secret is much bigger than they originally thought it to be... Greed, hate, love, envy, romance... and death. You will not believe the ending of this book, Descended by Blood will leave you BEGGING for more!
My Favorite Mirko Moments:
"I'm the man of your dreams. You just don't know it yet." ~Mirko...
"Will you mess up my bed with me?" ~Mirko...
He pulled away from me and cupped my head, stroking my outer ear lobe with his thumb. "Please choose me." he pleaded. ~Mirko...
One of the best things about Descended By Blood was how REAL the characters felt to me. Kaitlynn and Brooke could have easily been my best friend and I in high school. They were so much fun and totally the perfect pair...
This book is a whirlwind of non-stop awesome! Seriously. The action is furious, the romance is HOT and the friendships are fabulous. Descended By Blood is absolute vamp perfection from Angeline Kace! I cannot WAIT for the second book!!...more

Needless to say, I was wicked excited to start Pretty When She Dies!
Tattooed, pierced, stiletto wearing Amaliya wakes up- BURIED IN THE GROUND. She's panicked and scared but manages to dig herself out... And all she knows is that she has to get home, and she's feeling a little bit insane at the moment!
After a bloody night spent 'feeding', the reality of what she has become is crystal clear. Her professor of psychology is actually a centuries old vampire known to most as 'The Summoner' for his ability to command the dead to do his will. I KNOW RIGHT?! So she does the only thing that she can think to do, she goes 'home'.
Amaliya's version of home is my version of hell- twice over. Her father is a mean SOB, who married her cousin- RIGHT AFTER her mother died of cancer. Her aunt is a toothless biotch, spat from bowels of Satan himself... As you can imagine, they weren't all that sympathetic to Amaliya's predicament and throw her out almost immediately after her arrival.
Amaliya is walking down the highway wondering how her life turned out like THIS- when Pete, (awwww... Pete!) an old friend, pulls up next to her and offers her a ride... *winks*
After a few hours of INTENSE, passionate lovemaking and him confessing his long-standing love for her... things start to go horribly astray when he flips on the light and finds that she has no reflection in the mirror!!! Yeah... OMG.
Making her way to Dallas to see her Grandmama (duuuuude, Grandmama is the highlight of my LIFE. Loved her!) she hitches a ride with a chick and quickly realizes it was NOT a good plan!
"Not even five minutes had passed and now she had to deal with a batshit crazy woman."
"It was freaking hard to be a poor ass Texan vampire."
I LOVED Amaliya. Seriously, she was rock your face off AWESOME! As were ALL the characters in Pretty When She Dies! After her very 'exciting' visit with Grandmama and cousin she heads to Austin hoping to find another vampire to understand her new life... since her creator is obviously going to be more trouble than anything else!
In Austin she meets Cian, who is engaged to the very HUMAN, very sweet, fun, and somewhat naive Samantha! Things start to get a tad out of control between Cian and Amaliya... and by 'out of control, I mean H-O-T. Yummy hot.
"She had woken up determined to learn what she could from him and then go off and find her own Rob Zombie lookalike. Or a young Ozzy Osbourne clone that would be nice. Or maybe both."
Sam realizes she losing Cian and goes to a lecture on the supernatural, which is being given by a freaking VAMPIRE HUNTER! And she opens her big mouth and tell Jeff EVERYTHING about Cian and Amaliya...
Roberto, Cian's right hand man, has grown tired of Amaliya's influence in Cian and his life and goes to DRASTIC measures to rid them of her presence!!!!
There is an EPIC fight between The Summoner, and those he created... and Amaliya finds she has a LOT more power than she originally thought! *SQUEE* I can't wait for you to find out what it is!! You'd never believe me if I told you who fights on their side, and who ends up betraying them in the end...
"Love and hate were not so different when passion was involved."~ Not telling you who says this!
Hands down, Pretty When She Dies is one of my FAVORITE reads of this year! Easily, one of the BEST vampire books I've ever read!
Love, betrayal, murder... Romantic, funny and horrific... Amazingly compelling characters and an intensely fantastic plot! Theses are things that only Rhiannon Frater could blend together and make something this EPIC. ...more

Glynis still totally rocThe Vengeance of the Vampire Bride was a MUCH lighter read than it's predecessor, but just as amazing and gorgeously written! Glynis still totally rocked my face off! Frater easily and instantly transports me back into a world of gothic beauty and haunting memories.
Glynis has completely submerged herself into the role of Countess Dracula, and I loved her total take-charge attitude. She even titles her journal entries as Countess Dracula, instead of Lady Glynis Wright as she did in the first book!
Her loneliness and despair hits me like I'm experiencing it myself, rather through a character... Without the companionship of her vampire sisters (who are at 'home' at the castle in Transylvania), combined with the loss of her family... her isolation taunts her.
Preparing to return to Buda, the Fallen Angel Astir has sent her his most trusted servant, Adem, to warn Glynis of the vicious vampire attacks currently occurring in Buda and that it's no longer safe for her to go there. She's stuck in Bistrita and Glynis decides to search for her lost sister Erzsebet (Vlad's first wife, damned to an immortal life in captivity for disobedience), with Adem in tow on their first search, they end up in a bloody battle with ghouls looking for fresh blood! *shivers*
After only barely escaping the ghouls, Adem then decides to teach Glynis to defend herself properly in the face of danger. Their training is quite hilarious... especially when she rips her dress!
The news is brought that it is safe for them to return to Buda and Glynis is thrilled beyond measure. Only their house in Buda had been burned down since their last visit and she must stay with *ahem* Vlad's mistress... The dreadfully, horrid Baroness.
Vlad has relentlessly haunted her dreams, or rather nightmares, since she left the Transylvanian castle- horrifically assaulting her and threatening her and those important to her... She is lulled into a false sense of security after having the ring Vlad gave her cursed, so now he can no longer come to her in her sleep... but the same is not true of those around her.
There are forces at work beyond her already slim knowledge of the vampire world and a war of sorts rages between the vampires in Buda, right under Glynis' nose. Astir has told her to behave as a mortal Countess would and all will be fine... That works great- until it DOESN'T. Astir comes to her in warning and prophesy,
"All I see around you is death."~Astir
Now, to tell you anymore, would be to rob you of the amazing unraveling of this tale AND the secrets of the first book if you haven't read it... But what happens will shock you! Forbidden love, vampire rulers, bloody battles... and Vlad.
There are several secondary characters in this book that completely blew me away. Percy, an Englishman and a very close ally in the end. Laura probably ended up being my favorite and most surprising of the characters in this book! Magda, oh how I LOOOOVE her and her 'Do what I say, and don't ask questions' attitude. Astir... AMAZING, that is all I can say...
The Vengeance of the Vampire Bride is a MUST read for any Rhiannon Frater fan! This book is an awesome sequel to The Tale of the Vampire Bride, and I can't wait for the next one! The ending completely took my breathe away! I was dying!!...more

Gene has co-existed (incognito... 007 style) with the vamps his entire life. He goes to school with them, has taken on their mannerisms... He pretends to be one of them in order to survive. The rules are simple. Do not draw attention to yourself. Do NOT get caught. SURVIVE, no matter what.
And then the day comes, when no matter how adamantly he follows each and every rule... nothing can save him. The Ruler, who no one has seen or heard from in decades decided there is to be a Heper Hunt. They round up HUMANS (what they call hepers) set them loose and let a team of specially chosen vamps have at it. I KNOW right?! And GUESS who is one of the chosen to aid in The Hunt? Yep... GENE.
"I don't have any friends... Mostly, though , it's the prospect of being eaten alive by your so-called friend that kills any possibilty of shared intimacy. Call me picky, but imminent death at the hands (or teeth) of a friend who would suckle blood out of you at the drop of a hat... That throws a monkey wrench into the friendship building."
I didn't even realize until page 150 that I didn't even know the main character's NAME. He wasn't even aware of it until he breaks into the heper village and forces his mind to recall it!
Then there's Ashley June... Is she a human among the vamps also??? Surely not! Maaaaaybe... She is! No... She isn't... Yes... No... Ah-ha!!!!!
I'm telling you, this is the inner turmoil I was putting myself through while reading The Hunt!
Andrew Fukuda's attention to detail was simply excellent! I was completely overwhelmed by the life in which Gene led. The loneliness and self-loathing he experienced while wishing he was one of the very creatures he despised so much in order to LIVE a normal existence!
Remarkably witty and humorous, The Hunt is compulsivelyreadable.
