I love it when a series picks up right where it left off, and gives you just enough to refresh your memory of the important parts that happened previously, but doesn't retell the entire first book. Claudia Gray does a great job at diving right back into her exciting series. Nadia, Mateo and Verlaine have already been through a lot, but now things are about to get a little bit more exciting and a lot more twisted. Things they thought they took care previously, come back to haunt them in this book. That's saying a lot, without giving anything away.
With reappearances of characters from Spellcasters, and Gray answering a lot of questions, it didn't take long for things in STEADFAST to pick up. Nadia, Mateo & Verlaine have a lot at stake in this book. Though together they have this strength and determination to not give up until they can stop the evil that's destroying their town and the people in it, individually they're all dealing with their own issues. While I still loved this group together, I really enjoyed getting to know Asa, this book's fabulously written villain / anti-hero. I love it when a new character enters the storyline, and totally surprises me.
Asa is a character who enters the scene and immediately had me thinking he was going to be turn out one way, when in fact this character is full of surprises. I actually ended up liking him. He's a character who owns what he is, and doesn't try to pretend to be otherwise, though he's put in a position that does hide his true identity at first.........

The shortened review:
Oh my Warner heart! This book is AWESOME!! I have so many Shatter Me series feelings right now I don't even know what else to say other than GO GET THIS BOOK! Mafi has render me speechless right now. I don't even know what else to say at the moment without sounding like a Shatter Me fangirl who can't stop rambling about how awesome this book is.
The REAL review:
Tahereh Mafi is a writing goddess, or maybe she has that secret talent I like to call writing brilliance. Whatever you want to call it, Mafi has it. There's no other way to explain the awesomeness of IGNITE ME! This book literally ignited all those feelings I tried so hard to keep in while reading this book, but failed miserably at doing. I snort laughed, sighed, swooned, teared up, and laughed until I was crying. This book is nothing but awesome! Literally.
Juliette grows up a lot in this book. I admired the fierce, determined heroine she becomes. Tahereh does a brilliant job at showing her struggles with overcoming her preescptions of Warner, Adam, and herself, as well as situations that lead her to where she is now. The realization of how wrong her presceptions have been is a hard thing for her to accept. It was what was driving her, and now everything she thought she knew is wrong. I liked getting to see her struggle with that. Because now Juliette has to figure out where she stands, what she's going to do, and figure out her heart's desire. For the first time in her life, Juilette has never been more free to be herself. More free to make her own decisions, and to follow her heart. It's empowering to be free. Seeing Juliette accept that and embrace that freedom was bitter sweet, and oh so fabulous all at the same time. I loved that Tahereh showed me, vs telling me about her struggles. It's what emotionally gripped me with the story.

Jay Crownover what have you done to me? This was a book I had excepted to pick up, breeze through, and move on to the next book. Boy was I ever wrong. Sure I breezed through it, then I went and picked up the next book in the series. As far as moving on... yeah right! Crownover's characters are not characters I can easily move on from. These complicated guys, and the women who fiercely love them, are characters who got under my skin in a good way and made them irresistibly hard to just read about them and be done with them. They got into my head.
Oh Rule! Rule lives by one rule in life, and that's his own rule. He lives life is own way, and has always done his own thing, no matter what anyone says or thinks. He is who he is, and he doesn't pretend to be anyone but himself. While I admire his live life to the fullest in his own way, I wanted to slap him for being so stubborn. Why? Because since the death of his twin brother, Rule has been on a mission to do everything in his power to numb out that feeling, including love. Too bad for him, he's met his match in stubbornness, and she doesn't take no for answer. Nor does she care about his tattooed covered body, piercings, and hair that constantly changes colors.

I am a sucker for Greek Mythology. I loved the twist that Despain gave the Hades & Persephone myth. The world building in this story is awesome. I enjoyed seeing the hierarchy within The Underworld. For whatever reason, I'm always drawn to the underworld when it comes to Greek mythology. haha Maybe that says something about me (coughs). I also enjoy seeing the unique twists authors give this well known mythology. I am always fascinated when they carefully craft Greek mythology into their story, add in their own personal touches, and give it a modern day setting, which Despain does well with The Shadow Prince. Every time I read a well written take on this mythology, I fall in love with the way the author uses it in their story. This is one story I really enjoyed reading.
The Shadow Prince follows the story of both Daphne, our story's mortal who Haden, one of the Lord's of the Underworld is sent to the human world to get, and then willingly bring back with him. Despain does a fabulous job at giving readers the story from both of their points of view. Each chapter alternates between who's talking. Both Daphne and Haden's voices are both strong, and easy to identify. With both characters, we see that neither has had a simple upbringing. It was interesting to see the twisted way their destinies intertwine.

Trust me, you'll want to know all you can about Roth once you start reading this book. Yes I realize asking the hot question is a bit silly considering this is a Jennifer L. Armentrout book. She can write about anything, and make it hot. This book is clearly no different than the books that have come before it.
I'm just surprised I fell for the demon in this book, especially since I fell in love with Jennifer's Gargoyles after reading the prequel to this book, Bitter Sweet Love (read my 5 star review here). Now I'm totally torn between her Gargoyles and Demons. I have to say Roth makes embracing the dark side so enticing. I have to give Layla huge props from not falling from Roth from the get go, though we see it's hard for her not to. Layla is one of those girls who isn't easily persuaded nor does she automatically fall for the hot boy.
White Hot Kiss is another fabulous Jennifer L. Armentrout book that needs to be added to your collection of Jennifer books. This book has plenty of snark, swoon worthy moments, and action that kept me glued to the pages. There were times I felt like I couldn't read through the pages fast enough, and other times I was trying to savor the little moments that took place between Layla and Roth, or Layla and Zayne. In summary, this book is HOT! For the love of Roth, can book two please be out already. I NEED MORE!

Or who makes you yawn and why do you sometimes get a song stuck in your head? Well William Joyce's newest must have read for children answers all those questions and more! The MISCHIEVIANS are responsible for those things and much more. What? You never heard of them? Neither did I until I read this book and now everything makes sense.
I knew there had to be a reason why we can have so many half pairs of socks, and why I always yawn, and why for some reason in my kids's bathroom there's never any toilet paper let, and yet everyone claims it wasn't them. We have a bad case of The MISCHIEVIANS. Those pesky little creatures are up to no good.... well not really no good. They're up to some good. After all they're doing what they know how to do.
After reading this book I feel like I finally have the answer to a question no one has been able to answer. These guys are responsible for the things that happen around our house that no one can explain. William Joyce gives the best answers to my burning questions. Chalk full of William Joyce humor, The Mischievians is a book that both children and parents will enjoy. This book has brought plenty of laugher during our bed time reading. It's also encouraged my kids to use their imaginations to come up with their own Mischievians. At the end of the book William left a page for kids to document their own Mischievians, and he wants the kids to share it with him. You never know, he just might use it in one of his up coming books (see the back of the book for more details).
I will say I loved some of William's other books more than this one, but it gets a solid 5 stars from my kiddos who loved this book.

I loved being back in the Mephisto world, and getting to know more about one of my favorite Mephisto Brother's, Phoenix. One of the great things about this book is if you've not already picked up the series, you can still pick up this book, and read it and understand enough about the world, the history, and enjoy all the swoon worthy moments that happen, without being confused. Trinity does a great job at giving the reader everything that is needed to not feel lost if you've not read this series before, and if you have, she does a fabulous job at recapping things. I will note, this particular story, unlike the others, is New Adult. The first books in the series, The Mephisto Covenant, and The Mephisto Kiss are Young Adult.
Trinity's writing is fabulous! Each story, and especially this one has a distinct voice, and I love that this story is told from both Mariah and Phoenix's point of views. The writing in this book is spot on, the storyline flows beautifully, and the pacing is perfect. Really this book is one that once I sat down to read it, there was no stopping until I was done. It's incredibly easy for me to get wrapped up in Trinity's series. The romance, the characters, the world building, the story arc, everything is crafted together perfectly, and I loved it. There's a little bit of everything. There's plenty of sizzling romance, there's heartbreak, action, love, friendship, danger, intrigue, and choices. Not to mention some incredible characters.
