I can see that there will be another one in the series because Lisbeth Salander is not done yet. I like where this book headed. I always wondered about this one character and I love that I was finally able to have someone bring this elusive "talked about" but never heard from person. You are introduced about 2/3 thru so I looked forward to see Lisbeth battle it out.
I haven't read the back story to this book to know if this was where Steig wanted the books to go. I heard there was enough material for a 4th book, but don't know if this book was written from scratch. If it was, the new author did a good job capturing Steig's writing style.
Mind you I did have help. I read this book while listening to the audiobook version. If I didn't listen while I read at night, I caught up with the audio while driving to work. I LOVE Simon Vance's narration of this series. He was the first narrator I ever listened to on audiobooks. Listening to him read this one was like old home week. The characters he created were back and full of life. :)...more

That said, I've had a hard time sticking with books. I have started this book like 3 times and had to reread sections a couple of times because I was fighting against my slump. Then it caught on. I loved this book. I think it was better that The Snowman (which is what prompted me to work though this series as Snowman is book 7). This book left me dangling so high - liken it to Season finale. What happened?!? I immediately had to jump into the next book in order to find out.
I love the character of Harry Hole (pronounced Hooleh). He is literally falling apart before my eyes (scars, missing body pieces, etc., but he still gets the ladies). ...more

I am not sure how people go up the upper levels of the bridge and don't realize how insane it gets. Scientology is a religion for people with money. It's not for broke people (unless you join the SeaOrg, get paid $50/week, and free auditing/training. If you try to leave the SeaOrg, you'll get a bill for all the services you received (minimum $100k).
Why was LRH blessed with all this extra information? Other worlds from 43 million years ago with electricity. Telling people that he's been to heaven and it was created as an implantation station millions of years ago. While in heaven, he saw the gates and Saints. Huh? Saints were created by people on earth. How did he see saints millions of years ago? Cuckoo.
Failed in the military and he literally made himself a Commodore in his own Navy in his personal religious movement.
All religions are cults, but I'm amazed as to how this one came about. ...more

You need to be rich to be a scientologist. It costs about $100k to make it to OT3. The only way to avoid these costs is to be a member of the Sea Org where you are paid next to nothing, but everything is covered for you - food, housing, etc. You couldn't survive off $50 a week anyway. Slave labor for 16 hour days. The public Scientologist have to pay for their courses.
Funny that something made up for so far, but that is the same for all religious organizations - isn't it? This one is weirder than most.
These people are too honest. You get consequences for doing normal things. Things that in most cases no one would know about unless you opened your mouth. Mind control at its best. ...more
