Mercy is a great character to posses for a few hours. For me, strong female lead characters are hard to find, especially in the romance/fantasy genre and with Mercy I feel as though her story and her thoughts, just resonate with me.

It had a strong point or two like some of the inner relationships. The story line was rather good too... well some parts at least. It's a pity that the murder plot felt more like a side line story to a weird version of Desperate Housewives.
The biggest problem for me was that I couldn't get past the weird dialogue. People just don't say that much when talking to one another. There is too much description. This book made me realise how important believable dialogue is for me. I just couldn't seem to truly get into it even though I was enjoying parts of the story and I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I even had to skim through some of it.
It's difficult for me to find the right words to explain it and I really don't enjoy giving bad reviews but the dialogues just felt too long and over explained. I wouldn't say that you shouldn't read it, but for me it just felt as though it needed more editing. Also, I think I battle with weak female characters. All the women in this book seemed to be incredibly submissive. It made me feel a little sick that they would just put up with all sorts of weird crap from their husbands.
So all-in-all I can't really understand the five star reviews it got but I suppose each to their own....more

I couldn't wait for it's release and it lived up to everything I imagined and more. I read this story as a fan fiction and I awaited each chapter update in agony... the story is quite different to back then, but in a good way. Things are rounded and the story flows even better than it ever did (which is really saying something). This is one of my favourite books of all time. I don't think this story will ever really leave me - the scenes my mind took me too, with the help of J.M. Darhower's brilliant words, are intense and long lasting.
The characters are all amazing and I will miss them (it definitely won't be the last time I read this book). Charmine, Haven, Carrado and Vincent... *sigh*... it's difficult to find the right words to describe the feelings I have for these characters... and that's just to name a few.
A lot of people had some negative reviews... and I think that always happens when people are invested in a love story. Things don't always go the way people think it should... everyone has a different vision but the reality is... the characters go a way and if you love them you follow it... you don't try to change them. But that's just my opinion in the matter.
The story had some absolutely amazing, gut-wrenching scenes that you can play in your head just as clearly as a movie. There are parts where your eyes just cant move fast enough!
I am so grateful that these books were published and that I will get to read them as many times as I want. I cried, I laughed... and it's rare for a book to really engulf me the way these do!
Thank you, J.M. Darhower for sharing this series with us all :)...more
Liane Moriarty is brilliant. Perhaps it is because of my fascination with the consequences of the choices we make on a daily basis, my thoughts on howLiane Moriarty is brilliant. Perhaps it is because of my fascination with the consequences of the choices we make on a daily basis, my thoughts on how things can change in the blink of an eye, that make this novel particularly fantastic for me.
The Husband's Secret is several stories masterfully woven together. The depth of each character and the ability of Liane's writing style to suck you in, make this a completely 'unputdownable' read! ...more

Darhower was releasing another book. ‘Sempre’ was one of my all-time favourite stories and who doesn’t love it when an author you love and respect, releases something new to sink your teeth into?
However, when I found out that this new release was a paranormal romance, an angelic one at that, I became a little nervous. I am not a big fan of Angel books. I often feel that books about angels tend to be incredibly cheesy and overly dramatic and one of my absolute favourite things about ‘Sempre’ was how real it all was. Naturally, my trepidation was a little high when I first opened my copy of ‘Extinguish’.
After the first few pages my trepidation increased and I felt a little disappointed as the story plunges into a world that seems to be exactly what I was afraid of… dripping with cheese - Michael and Serah prancing around in a field of wild flowers. It was too angelic, too strange, too difficult to find a connection in Serah (our angelic main character).
After that first chapter however, everything changed. The entire stereotype I had begun to imagine for the rest of the book blew up the minute Luce stepped into the picture and from what I now know, having read the entire book in record time, it was all very necessary for me to feel that way. In fact, it somehow added to the entire experience because I was more a part of Serah’s journey than I could have been had it started out any other way.
‘Extinguish’ is filled with all the right things that build up a story and fill it with life. Nothing is predictable. Nothing is a stereotype. The story is beautiful and J.M. Darhower has officially created the ultimate fantasy ‘bad-boy-who-is-not-really-bad-but-actually-is’. Confusing? You’ll only understand what I am on about when you read the book… and you should most definitely read it if you enjoy fantasy novels or paranormal love stories.

It made me feel quite ignorant of the things that happen all around us here in SA and definitely made me wish this man didn't have to retire, although he definitely deserves it. I would recommend this to everyone but definitely to my fellow South Africans! :)
