It did a pretty good job, although not quite reaching the mark. It was a little slow in the beginning, but I thought the end was beautiful. Sarah was a strong character, and I liked the small progressions she made during the story going from a character who lived her live through other to one who lived her own. And I liked how we got a bit of a continuation of the Evie and Josh story line. What I didn't like was big parts of the Cal story line. I liked him as a character and yes, he was a good match for her, but you never got to see a real progression of a romance for them. It is mentioned in the previous book that they show a connection to each other, but then her just shows up seeming out of nowhere in the middle of the book, and it is automatically excepted they are in love. Plus, you don't really get to know him very much as a character aside from the fact that he is protective and in love with Sarah. I was however fascinated with Helen story, and am really looking forward to reading it. And finding out what part Velvet Romaine has to play, for good or evil? All in all, I liked it. And just like the others I love the cover. One day if I can afford it I am going to get a necklace like that one made. And everyone should read the whole series, but I definitely excited about the next one......more

I liked this book even better than the first. This one centers around Simon, one of the five men who came through the change unchanged, and Sage, the computer geek that's a member of the resistance. Sage is given information that leads her back to her hometown, the town she escaped from over 10 years earlier. She can't go alone so she takes Simon. They pretend to be married, to get into the city she came from that is basically a cult. But pretending may just turn into the real thing...
I loved Simon! I thought he and Sage were both well thought out characters, each with a range of emotions and thoughts and interesting backstories. The romance between the two was passionate with a lot of innocence which kept you turning the page trying to figure out when they were finally going to get to it. But even though some of it was a bit predictable, I didn't see the end coming at all (hint: Remington Truth isn't what I expected).
A worthwhile addition to the series, and you definitely devour it!...more

You don't often hear that kind of description when talking about romance novels. I mean sure you get the Vampires, Urban, and Victorian era, and don't get me wrong I love all of those too, but this one was different and made all of the better for it.
It's 50 years in the future, the world as we know it is gone. There are still remnants of course, things like humvees, and shopping malls, and even DVD's like the Pirates of the Caribbean, but it is all broken and destroyed. Fives men have come out of the caves they were in the world Changed to find that some were gifted with power and that none of them had aged a day in 50 years. The first novel in the series being about Elliott, one of those five men who was a doctor in his previous life and has now been graced with power to heal. He meets a young woman named Jade who confident, charismatic, and fearless with her own story to tell. Once they meet it becomes a story of romance, intrigue, and adventure. Learning about fighting off the "Strangers", "Gangas", and the bounty hunters, and saving a group of young teens who have unknowingly gotten themselves into a whole lot of trouble.
I loved this book. It was our world made more terrifying and primitive. I loved the fact that Jade was a strong female character on her own. She knew how to take care of herself, and often the other people around her. At the same time she was flawed, namely her fear of snakes (Elliott points out that in this way she is very much like Indiana Jones). You can relate to her in many of her quirks. And Elliott, is complex on his own. He wants to help people, but finds that sometimes he can hurt them instead. Plus, you feel for him when he remembers his family and the people that he knew before the Change, and the heartbreak he feels for what happened to them. And he and Jade are a good match. The world she created on the other hand was pretty ingenious, and the town of Envy will be a surprise to anyone who reads it.
It's worth your read. I can't wait to read the next one!...more

I always love how I think that I have gotten her books figured out and then she always throws one thing in there that I didn't think to look for. I liked Georgina as a character. She was a strong woman and didn't just take everything at face value. She does things for herself, and she has charm. All of the characters were interesting, and you couldn't help but fall in love with Seth. He is oh so dreamy in a nerdy way. This is totally a must read....more

It carried on with the plot of the series and added something to it that made sense. Elijah and Sienna made sense as a couple, but I just felt that the passion between wasn't really that strong and it seemed a little rush. I did love how strong a female character Sienna was, and it is one of the things that I have loved about all the books so far. A good read and recommended for paranormal romance lovers. Looking forward to reading Damien....more

This one is all about Legna, the demon kings sister who was Summoned at the end of the first book, and Gideon the oldest and strongest of their kind. I like how their love match made sense. They each competed each other and brought out the best in the other. She was afraid of the animal or "huntress" as they call it inside of her, and Gideon helped her to come to terms with it and except it within herself. While Legna helped Gideon to learn feel his emotions and let go of his perfect self control. She also helped to give him absolution for the many things in his past that he blames himself for. Over all a very good read. It had the a passionate and somewhat believable romance with some violence and mayhem thrown in. I would recommend it....more

This includes keeping them from harming humans especially during the night of the Hallowed and Beltane Moons. The story begins when one of his kind is Summoned by necromancers (the bad guys) and he has to find and kill the creature before it cause any harm to itself or anything else after it has become one of the Transformed (a demon stripped of it's civilized nature by spells done to it by the necromancers making it more like the demons that haunt our nightmares). While searching for this demon he meets Isabella when she literally falls out her window, setting off events that lead to great discoveries and passionate romance. I didn't know if I would like this book, but after reading I love it. Not many romances books have an all around strong and positive female character, but this one did in Isabella and also in Legna. She was smart and strong, and confident enough in herself to know what she wanted and get it. She is the one who literally saves the day. And Jacob felt was a good man and well rounded character. They each had a backstory and were pretty described in depth, and the author did a good job of explaining and setting up the world by blending it into the story as it went along. I would definitely recommend it. And am already diving into the next one of the series....more

I loved the going back and forth between the present and the past. The romance was beautiful and believable, and you want it to work out for them. The villians are creepy and frightening. The writing was well done. It has to be one of my favorite books! Definitely read it!...more
