In retaliation, her people set bombs all over Ankaraj headquarters, demanding the head of the bloke that gave the order. They're holed up with hostages, and the Corp's shut down all air traffic within two hundred kilometers of the city."
I feel as though someone punched me in the chest. He believed I'm dead, or he wouldn't be doing this. It's vengeance now, he doesn't see a way for us to win. In his own eyes, he failed me, so this is the only thing left.
I didn't realize the truth, the scope.
He would kill the world for me.
I have to save him.
Wow! I am completely in awe of this "fragging" awesome Sci-Fi world Anne Aguirre has created. She made me wish I was Sirantha Jax....Okay maybe that's because I love March.;-) Well anyways Grimspace is the first book in an epic romantic science fiction series about Sirantha Jax a carrier of the rare genetic J-gene with the ability to jump ships through Grimspace. After she's accused of intentionally crashing a ship she's navigating leaving eighty-two dead she quickly becomes the target of a brutal investigation by her ruthless captor. As the sole survivor with no memory of the crash, she finds herself imprisoned and undergoing a merciless interrogation, and is quickly succumbing to this torturous treatment when her savior a complete stranger reaches out a strong hand to aide in her safe escape. Jax finds herself on the run as a fugitive without the means to clear her name but with a mission of humanity in this fast paced adventure testing love, honor, loyalty and strength.
I'm Sirantha Jax, and I have had enough.
Who is Sirantha Jax? Kick-Ass Sirantha Jax can either be your best friend or your worst nightmare! She's such an amazing character created. In many ways she's extremely relatable because her most recognizable trait is her ability to select self preservation as her first choice of action, that is until she finally finds something more important than herself. Once she accepts her fate she proves to be a heroic protagonist I can't help but cheer for the entire way through. While inside her head us readers get a full visual of the agonizing pain she has endured while she gathers strength to trust her new companions quickly becoming friends in an effort to succeed in establishing a new healthier breed of jumpers while discovering the "truth" behind her mysterious horrific crash. I just couldn't get enough of Jax, she's witty, determined to stay alive charming, honest and one of the most fascinating protagonist I've ever had the privilege to read about.
"Go to hell, March." But I'm still smiling while I say it. As I doze off again, I'm pretty sure he says, "Been there, done that, and I'm keeping a spot warm for you, babe."
Oh where do I begin with my Barrons-esque lover Obsession March. He's deliciously honorable and charmingly witty as well. He has this banter with Jax that's almost equivalent to sexual tension in a room I wish I were sharing only with him. He's a warrior, fair but can be brutal when called upon. Dangerous and sexy March is the leader of the small group of mercinaries involved with rescuing Jax and embarking on this mission to creating new jumpers while discovering the truth. He's as aggressive in his war battles as he is in the bedroom and he's definitely a memorable character long after the book is finished. With all his Bad-Ass qualities March isn't afraid to go from an honorable man to a man who knows NO boundaries to what exactly hes capable of when something or someone he cares for is threatened he will destroy you and ask questions later. I just love that! His passion makes him the kind of man I most admire in a hero that I can't wait to explore even more.
"You think it didn't cut me every time you thought of him?" His jaw clenches. "You think I didn't bleed when you left my bed to scrub away my touch and deify his memory? You think it didn't hurt when you left me? Jax, you've been slicing me to bits for months, and there's damn near nothing left."
Dina and Doc become easy friends and partners along the way for Jax. Whereas Doc is decent, kind and highly intelligent, Dina is snarky, hilarious and a force to be reckoned with. I look forward to these two continuing on the journey with Jax and March. For those readers who find themselves in favor of supporting characters over main characters will not be dissapointed with these two! Especially Dina; she's the type of girl I could share lip stick with but wouldn't want to find myself on her unfavorable side in a dark alley.
This book was heavy on the science fiction and heavy on the romance and I LOVED every single page of this book! To those of you like myself that have been hiding under a rock unaware of the brilliant writing of Anne Aguire and her Sirantha Jax series has been missing out on such an awesome series that has quickly become my newest obsession favorite! ;-)
"You don't need to be afraid of falling, when there's someone around to catch you."
*Thank you Cat Russell (Addicted to heroines) for initially recommending this amazing series to me, Christen (Goldilox and the three weres) for backing up Cat, and Jamie for relentlessly urging me to read this emotionally charged series. I am indebted to you three immensely. ;-))))*(less)
Never has any man fictional or non fictional ever made those words sounds enticing, much less sensual but Gena Showalter has succeeded in making the inner dialgue of Maddox, the keeper of Violence a voice I want in my darkest erotic fantasies. ;)
Maddox as the Keeper of Violence has kept himself wrapped up in a tight guarded space to ensure the safety of others around and especially around women. He's haunted by the violent actions of his past when he failed to control his demon of violence inside his body.
Ashlyn comes to him in the Forrest and she's equally as enamored with him instantly as he is with her. She has suffered her entire life haunted by voices of past and present of those that have once occupied a particular space she dwells in.. She comes in search of the mysterious men known as The Lords Of The Underworld for their assistance in seeking silence.
"She was everything he had never known he needed, everything he could never live without. She had......tamed him. What a treasure she was. He'd gone into the forest looking for a monster, but found salvation instead."
These tortured, curse inflictedDemon-Licious men have me mesmerized and eager to get to know all of them as I can now see why a huge majority of my GR friends have such devoted crushes on the tattooed warrior men. Showalter creates brilliant dialogue and scorchingly hotter sex scenes.
In The Darkest Night Showalter generously introduces us to these lustworthy men and listed below are the men that captured my interest in this book; Meet Maddox,The Keeper of Violence,Torin,The Keeper of Disease,Lucien,The Keeper of Death,Reyes, The Keeper of Pain,Aeron,The Keeper of Wrath, and ParisThe Keeper of Promiscuity. (that one hardly sounds like a curse, more like a man in his twenties). Other noteworthy characters I'm sure hope we haven't heard the last of is the spunky, powerful, rebellious, Anyadaughter of a god, and the feisty, goodhearted, strong willed Danika. I would highly recommend this series to PNR lovers alike. I plan to start the second book immediately and I anticipate getting lost in this sexily possessive world Gena Showalter has so brillantly created. I wish I could crawl in this dark fairy tale and live forever with a Lord of my own.;)
"You are mine, woman, and I am yours. Until you, my life was desolate, I existed, but I didn't truly Live. Now I live even in my death."
For those of us PNR lovers that have been living under a rock like myself, and have failed to hear about this fabulously intoxicating series The Lords of The Underworld then I highly suggest you crawl out from underneath it and experience these dangerously lustworthy men for yourself. An easy 5 stars!!!;)
"Right now I'm picturing you in a black leather suit with a sword at your side." Maddox said.
"When I wear it will I be fighting to protect my virtue, or fighting to take yours?"
"Mine, of course."
Thank you for the book recommendation Mrs. Vishous, and Becky!!!! :) I tried to add both of your names to the recommend line, however you both have such long names I'm not sure they both fit in the small space correctly ;) (less)

Have you ever read a book before that felt like an autobiography of your embarrassing, and painful, yet exhilarating and the most romantic memorable moments of your life? Well Beautiful Disasterwas that book for me. From the moment I began reading, I was hooked. It was like I became addicted to these characters, for a whole 24 hours of reading they were my drug of choice, and two days later I’m still in awe of this beautiful story of two of the most dysfunctional characters I’ve had the pleasure to read about. See for me that was the instant attraction with this book. Anyone that is familiar with my preferred reading taste knows I am infatuated with tumultuous, codependent, and self destructive characters in love, most likely because I can relate to those volatile relationships most. Instantly this book brought me back to my early 20′s in college, living in a sorority house and partying at out of control at the fraternity parties, and loving life so hard.
“I like the Au natural thing you have going on. Girls don’t come over here like that.” ”I was coerced into coming here. It didn’t occur to me to impress you,” I said, aggravated that my plan had failed. “Im already impressed. I don’t normally have to beg girls to come to my apartment.”
This book is classified as YA but it is so NOT YA, and it contains everything from jealousy, drunkenness, frat parties, sex, gossip, and dramatic misunderstandings that left me wanting to slap some sense into them, however if we didn’t have those misunderstandings then we wouldn’t have Beautiful Disaster and it’s on my list of favorites read during 2012.
“Shake in your boots, boys, and drop your panties, ladies! I give you: Travis Mad dog Maddox!”
Abby Abernathy whom I will later refer to as “Pigeon” (OMG I love this nickname) in this review and you’ll understand just why later has traveled far away from her Kansas hometown with her best friend America(whom I absolutely adore) to start a new life, forget past childhood horror stories and experience college life as a freshman. So when America asks Abby to accompany her and her boyfriend Shepleyto a secret fight club match to watch Travis ‘Mad Dog‘ Maddox (also Shepley’s cousin and roommate) a bare-knuckle, gorgeous, tattooed, Smart, undefeated fighter, Harley driving man whore champion yet another fight.
It had always been a dream of America’s for us to date friends, and roommates-slash-cousins, for her, was hitting the jackpot.
Abby stands out as she’s the only one wearing a cardigan to such a barbaric event, but she’s enamored instantly by the atmosphere in the rink, and never does she guess that the shaved headed, tattooed, ripped muscled, ruthless fighter and mouthwatering sex pot such as Travis would even be interested in anything more than “bagging” with her “on his couch” and then never to be used again, because lets face it; with his gorgeous looks and bad boy charm all the college co-ed females are basically pushing each other aside just to remove their panties for Travis, because while he may be undefeated in the rink, he’s off the charts un-denied and undefeated with the ladies on his couch as well. *sigh*
“Oh my God! You’re killing me! That’s it. We have to be friends. I won’t take no for an answer.”
So when she meets Travis she has no intention of ever giving him the time of day much less a friendship because she’s determined to turn over a new link. She’s from a family of alcoholics and her father is an overzealous gambling addict that has no issue with using his daughter to settle his gambling debts, so she decides without even a second glance that she needs a “nice guy”, charmer that can give her the “normal” life she’s always wanted. As deluded as she was with her fantasies of a normal life, I can almost see her point except on in the first chapter we meet Travis Maddox and I’m immediately, swept away by everything and I mean everything about him. But I’m sure you can easily see that with Abby’s determination and Travis’ charm that this book is going to be filled with angst, and emotional turmoil that leaves me with a heavy chest at many times during this read. Remarkably I survived those moments, and I’m left to tell you that this is the book to read if you love emotionally codependent characters, who have irresistible charm and can’t walk away, yet can’t just meet in the middle.
“I meant what I said before. You need to walk away, Pidge. God knows I can’t walk away from you.”
Travis is a heart-breaker, oblivious to his effect on women because well lets face it, he’s infamous amongst the college co-eds as the undefeated bare knuckle fighter, with a flock of females relentlessly following him everywhere, doting on his every move almost as if he’s a rock star, yet they each seem to be surprised and upset when he doesn’t ask for their phone number after randomly hooking up with him on his couch! For reals? His reputation proceeds him, so this should come as NO surprise yet, it always does.
Here is an example below of his man whorish ways…
Travis rounded the corner in a pair of boxer shorts and yawned. He looked at his guest, and then patted her backside. “My company’s here. You’d better go.” She smiled and wrapped her arms around him, kidding his neck. “I’ll leave my number on the counter.” “Eh….don’t worry about it,” Travis said in a casual tone. ”What?” she asked, leaning back to look in his eyes. “Every time!” America said. She looked at the woman. “How are you surprised by this? He’s Travis Fucking Maddox! He is famous for this very thing, and every time they’re surprised!” The girl narrowed her eyes at Travis, and then grabbed her purse and stormed out, slamming the door behind her. Travis walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge as if nothing had happened. Travis stood behind the breakfast bar, crossed his arms over his chest ”What’s wrong Pidge? Hard day? ”No, I’m thoroughly disgusted.” ”With me?” He was smiling. I should have known that he expected this conversation. It only made me less inclined to hold back. “Yea, you. How can you just use someone like that, and treat them that way?” ”How did I treat her? She offered her number, I declined.” My mouth flew open at his lack of remorse. “You’ll have sex with her, but you won’t take her number?” Travis leaned on the counter with his elbows. “Why would I want her number if I’m not going to call her?” ”Why would you sleep with her of your not going to call her?” ”I don’t promise anyone anything, Pidge. She didn’t stipulate a relationship before she spread eagle on my couch.” I stared at the couch with revulsion.
He’s instantly captivated by Abby, because she doesn’t go out of her way to impress like all the other females, actually she does the exact opposite of them, and that just charms her way into his heart faster, the way no other before her has. She has made it clear to him that she is not interested in being one of the girls “spread eagle” on his couch, so when he offers her a friendship she reluctantly accepts, and they become the cutest more adorably charming best friends ever. I just love their friendship. This friendship becomes a shock to everyone at school and the highlight of the daily gossip because Travis doesn’t have “female friends” and yet they’re inseparable and he nicknames her “Pigeon” (oh be still my heart) you’ll love that nickname and the reasoning behind it, hopefully as much as I do. He actually refers to her as “My Pigeon” *swoon*
They’re daily routine consists of eating lunch together daily, at every female on campuses dismay, partying together, study partners (surprisingly he is a straight A student so basically he’s her tutor )below is an example of his enthusiasm for her getting top grades in her classes after he tutored her.
He tossed me over his shoulder, making his way through the crowd behind us. “Make way! Move it, people! Let’s make room for this poor woman’s hideously disfigured, ginormous brain! She’s a fucking genius!”
She becomes his good luck charm at fights, he says wherever he goes Pigeon goes, and he’s falling for her fast AND hard, yet the two involved (Travis and Pigeon) are reluctant to make any moved that will dissolve their precious friendship. Especially when she often reminds him that their friendship better be based on friendship and not an elaborate scheme to get her into bed. Ahhhhhh the angst in this book nearly killed me!
But this is just the beginning……
After being so close over the past two weeks, he makes a bet with Pigeon (unbeknownst to him she cannot resist a good wager) that if he can go an entire fight without the huge monster of an opponent getting one hit on him, then she must move in with him for one month (in a way to ensure their friendship remains) and if he loses then he must remain abstinent for one month. Oh boy, this is where the excitement begins and I’m left wishing I could erase about ten years off my life and experience the college life once again. As a matter of fact my friend Cimmaron said the same exact thing to me once we had both read it. She and I discussed and reveled in the idea that we should get us some fake ID’s, Botox, and enroll back into college as undergraduates just to experience this lifestyle and maybe a Travis Maddox for ourselves.
“I don’t want to sleep with you Pidge. I like you too much.”
He admires Pigeon, and she’s the only female that can “put him in his place” make him crazy with jealousy, he’s overprotective over her, and well I always love that in my heroes, but she is so dense that even though she is resisting his charms outwardly on the inside she is caving because she is catching feelings for him along the way (can you blame her? he’s incredible) she takes his overprotective behavior for being a “big brother” factor when in reality, it’s goes beyond that and he’s trying to hold back with her because he made her a promise that they’re friendship would NOT be a ploy to sleep with her, yet he’s slowly unraveling and can’t picture his life without Pigeon as his girl forever.
“I’m sorry, Shepley.” He froze and wheeled around, with the face of a man that had reached his limit. “I wish you and Travis would just get your shit together! You’re a goddamn tornado! When you’re happy, it’s love and peace and butterflies. When you’re pissed, you take the whole fucking world down with you!”
This is an example of how their tumultuous relationship causes not only for them to suffer but everyone around them suffers including Shepley (Travis’ cousin and devoted boyfriend to America) and you can’t help but feel for him, as he suffers as he winds up in the middle of this beautifully disastrously charismatic relationship I fell in love with. Enter Parker, that’s the only introduction he needs Yuck because I don’t like him at all and Pigeon begins dating him right in front of Travis, oh and we get to witness the tragedy unfold. I especially grow fond of America, shes the ideal best friend, completely loyal, full of drama, yet sincerity and she is simply a delight though out the entire story.
“You’re not jealous, are you, Pideon?” “Jealous of what? The STD-infested imbecile you’re going to piss off in the morning?”
Over the time the lines between friendship and lovers gets muddy and it’s not only an emotional roller coaster to read, it’s also so much fun too.
“But I…..that wasn’t the only reason I took you to the fight. I wanted you there with me, Pidge. You’re my good luck charm.” ”I’m not your anything,” I snapped, glaring up at him. His eyebrows pulled in and he stopped dancing. “You’re my everything.”
I can think of a couple times I had to put this book down and walk away just to get my motions under control because the brilliant way that Jamie McGuire writes this story made me feel like I was the person involved in this romance. Travis tries hard to be a good boy, but he can’t help it he’s jealous, has a temper, and he does a few things that will once again cause that lump in your throat or heavy feeling in your chest to resurface, while he breaks her heart and she breaks his heart. I cried so hard in public at the gym nonetheless that when a woman accosted me in the bathroom as I fled the stationary bike much to my embarrassment, when she asked what was wrong, I was left with no other choice but to lie (I mean c’mon am I supposed to tell her that my book boyfriend in the book I’m reading started to cry and so I’m crying for him? I didn’t think so) and say my boyfriend has broken up with me and that I’m sorry to have disturbed her with my bathroom freak out (at the gym *gasp*) she proceeds to pat me on the back and tell me to cheer up, and things will work itself out….Well now that the sweet unsuspecting woman has no idea that I’m actually crazy LOL, I went back to reading and didn’t put it down until I finished! And then I re-read it again while writing this review.
“A toast!” he yelled. “To Douschebags!” he said. “And to girls that break you’re heart,” he bowed his head to me. ”And to the absolute fucking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her.”
This moment made my chest heavy once again, and put my stomach in knots again……
So despite Travis charm, and confident ways, deep inside he’s vulnerable and not sure how to proceed considering he’s never been in love, unsure of himself but all he knows is that without Pigeon by his side, his life will no longer be complete, now that he’s realized, his life was meaningless before her. He’s my favorite bad boy and I couldn’t resist his charms ever, and surprisingly because this rarely happens I blamed the Pigeon for the majority of their problems because shes a “runner” and even though he’s the “bad boy” his vulnerability with her leaves me broken for him a bit more than I was for her, even though many times my eyes watered for her, I was shocked that the times I was most distraught was when he was hurting the most!
His fingers lightly grazed my cheek. “I didn’t know you before. When you’re not there, I can’t concentrate. I’m wondering where you are, what you’re doing….if you’re there and I can see you, I can focus. I know it’s crazy, but that’s how it is.” ”And crazy is exactly the way I like it,” I said, leaning up to kiss his lips.
When I finished this book all I wanted to do was tell all my book buddies that if they have yet to read this then they must!!!!!! But I must warn you, this book is NOT for the faint of heart. It’s for those of you that wish to spend the entire day in angsty romance that will hold onto you relentlessly even days after you finish reading it!
“You know why I want you? I didn’t know I was lost until you found me. I didn’t know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed. You’re the one thing I’ve got right. You’re what I’ve been waiting for, Pigeon.”
Most everyone knows I’m a HUGE Fifty Shades of Grey, and Bared To You fan, and while these books are very different than Beautiful Disaster yet it’s recommended for fans of those two books because the relentless dysfunction of characters in love are displayed with very similar when you think of insecure, confident, powerful, hot mess of totally dysfunctional characters, so if you can handle and enjoy a good emotional read that tugs at your heart strings the entire time you read it, yet at the end your left wanting more but the ending is completely beautiful nonetheless?
“I belong to my beloved, and my beloved is mine.”
Well if you can then please read Beautiful Disaster. Travis might be the boy your momma warned you about but I can assure you, he will leave you breathless and looking for key to his heart immediately upon reading this. If you like bad boys…..and lucky for me, I revel in them. This book is one of my ultimate favorite reads of 2012 and it was disastrously beautiful!! Please do me a favor when you do, and come back to share your love for this book with me.
“WELL I BELONG TO YOU!” The veins in his neck bulged as he shouted, and I met his glare, refusing to even flinch. He looked at my lips, panting. “I belong to you,” he whispered, his anger melting as he realized how close we were.”

"Hope was real. Burning brighter than the stars that hung above us in this empty winter night."
A week after the events that took place in Nightshade Calla wakes up to find that her world has been altered and now there's no turning back.
"This is only about love."
She discovers the tragically heartbreaking consequences of her actions. Several discoveries in this book including death, betrayal, and devastating revelations caused my heart to ache and tied my stomach in knots. Calla has no other choice but to gather her courage and prepare herself for WAR and take back her PACK and AVENGE the horrific loss of a dear loved one as well as dear friends.
"Hope. A second chance. Ren could help us win this war. Together we could make the blood, the grief, the pain worth something. I knew I couldn't leave him behind again. Not now and not ever. Even if it meant I'd end up sacrificing myself as well."
When Calla whacked her hair off with the pruning shears it nearly brought me to tears. I know that sounds odd; why would cutting her hair make me want to cry? Well honestly, it has nothing to do with her long platinum blonde braided hair, it was the discoveries leading upto her state of mind when she chopped it off. It was symbolic of her state of mind. She was distraught, angry, horrified, scared, empty, and full of regret. That scene left me searching for breath as my chest tightened while reading it. Unfortunately she has yet to gain the control over her life that she has yearned for since Nightshade.
Warning for Alpha-Licious Ren Lovers: If you're reading this book hoping to get your latest Ren fix, don't set yourself up for a fall because there's just not enough of him in this book! Then when were lucky enough to get a taste of him, he's not the same Alpha we've grown to love.
"They said you'd come. I didn't believe it, but now you're here."
Cold fear snaked over my skin.
"Ren?" My heart was screaming out against the chilling facts that my mind was quickly wrapped around.
He leaned forward kissing my earlobe. "I missed you Lily. So much," he murmured, taking my arms in full grasp. "I'm sorry."
Suddenly I was sailing through the air across the full length of the cell. My body tipped over and I sank to the floor.
"Ren, stop. Please." "What are you doing?"
"I don't want this, I never wanted this," he said through clenched teeth. "I don't have a choice, you've given me no choice." "It's the only way"..."You're my mate. It's my duty to bring you back. To make you stay. They said I have to."
I stared at him. "Have to what?"
This book left me hanging on, and wanting more. I want certain characters to die. I want Calla to be happy preferably with Ren because I'm still not sold on Shay. I now have this Love Hate relationship with Andrea Cremer since she has the ability to tug at my heart strings while I'm reading.
This book was also a bit predictable, however I'm convinced the reason is because I'm just REALLY smart ;) it's a YA series and I'm an adult. The predictability didn't bother me because the author seems to do an excellent job maneuvering the plot in different directions to keep readers guessing.
I'm eager to read Bloodrose. as I look forward to Ren and Calla both slaughtering Emile with their bare bloody claws.
I would recommend this series to all Shifter lovers!!!!!! 4.5 STARS! ;)

"I've been sent to kill you, Calla. To kill you and bring Shay back. Why am I here to kill you?"
Wow! I've been glued to this book all day! It was that fantastic! Nightshade has reminded me why after all these years of no longer being a YA, I still LOVE reading YA books. Andrea Cremer has created a uniquely dark storyline into the politics of shifter wolves. Calla a fearless female Alpha has known since birth she was going to marry the HOT, protective, confident, jealous, passionate playboy amongst the ladiesAlpha-Licious Ren since she was born. They have been chosen by the Keepers (who are surprisingly in charge of the Alpha's and their packs) to become a married Alpha couple on their eighteenth birthday.
The din of the hallway dropped to a buzz of curious whispers, and Bryn abruptly straigtened from her casual pose. I knew what that meant. He was nearby. I slung my bag over my shoulder, slammed my locker door, and hated that my heart sped up as I looked for Renier Laroche. He moved as he owned the school. His eyes darted from side to side-ever a wolf, always predatory.
"Calla, I will always protect you, but you can't keep secrets from me. I'm only trying to keep you safe, Calla." Ren licked my muzzle. "Don't take unnecessary risks. You're too important for that. I need you by my side. I'm sorry if I hurt you."
Had it not been for Calla saving the life of annoying, basically Jacob from Twilight Shay a human coming along and urging Calla to question everything she has ever know since she was born. This is the moment that Calla's world turns upside down. Meet Calla and watch as she discovers love, herself, freedom, rebellion and discovering she may have stolen the hearts of two men.
Calla is fearless, and on many occasions I wanted to scream at her and say "No just stop searching for answers, your life is great and your going to marry Ren!" This just shows what a brilliant writer Andrea Cremer is because she had my stomach in knots over decisions Calla was making. She has set up a powerful love triangle between a gorgeous Alpha male and a human that won't go away! LOL. I understand that Shay probably has followers but my heart has been captured by an arrogant Alpha male named Ren. ;)
A couple times I found the plot to be a bit predictable but I still enjoyed the read nonetheless. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting and emotionally charged YA love triangle about being with who you should be with and choosing who you should be with. I look forward to reading Wolfsbaneimmediately.
"Tell me you'll come back for the pack. For me." His eyes were bright with tears. "I don't want to lose you."
I couldn't speak. Tears welled in my eyes and I stepped away from him.
"Do you love him?" his eyes searched mine.
"Don't ask me that. This isn't about love. It's about survival."
"No Calla." His voice became hushed. "This is only about love." And then he was kissing me.

Anastasia.” His voice is soft. “It’s not something I know.” Gasp, and I’m Eve in the Garden of Eden, and he’s the serpent, and I cannot resist. Who can resist temptation in the Garden of Eden?? I know Eve sure couldn't, and guess what, she was just as guilty of consequences as the serpent, because she knewbetter.
Anastasia is a brilliant, charming, beautiful, witty, easily relatable protagonist that I simply adored. From the moment Anastasia Steele meets Christian Grey, the fun, sexy, dark, scary, challenging, beautiful, thrill ride began. She was warned by Christian to stay far away from him, he was no good for her, but she couldn't resist the temptation for this beautiful "Fifty shades of Fucked" up man.
"Anastasia, you should steer clear of me. I’m not the man for you."
Let me just start out by saying that E.L. James took me on a dark, spectacular, sexy, scary thrill ride that I never want to forget. In Fifty Shades of Grey were introduced to chivalrous bad boy Christian Grey *Fan girl scream, jumping up and down, screaming* CEO and multi-millionaire entrepreneur.
"Because I’m fifty shades of fucked up, Anastasia.”
Anastasia is a wholesome twenty one year old college graduate with goals, values, and self respect. She's completely smitten with this lustworthy Christian Grey immediately. What I found so fascinating about her was that she wasn't willing to bow down and succumb to Christian's rules and regulations. She's intelligent, and doesn't take no for an answer and pushes the envelope when she should.
"You know, when you fell into my office to interview me, you were all ‘yes, sir’, ‘no, sir’. I thought you were a natural born submissive. But quite frankly, Anastasia, I’m not sure you have a submissive bone in your delectable body.” He moves slowly toward me as his speaks, his voice tense."
Whereas Christian is wealthy, gorgeous, arrogant, charismatic, bossy, domineering and is unfamiliar with boundaries and the word NO. Since Anna is the first woman willing to love him in spite of his darkness, while showering him with love, but not bowing down to his demands while exposing his vulnerable side hes had hidden behind his dark vices for too long. This throws Christian for a loop and he can't help but stay fascinated with the intelligent, and charming Anastasia Steele.
This book explores love, lust, pain, fear, trust, and pushes the boundaries while doing it. The succulent Domineering Christian is an emotional virgin, a victim of sexual abuse by an older woman as a young teen has left him empty, and hollow, and unable of having a relationship based on love and not pain, that is until he meets feisty fun-loving Anastasia Steele.
Poor, fucked-up, kinky, philanthropic Christian – though I’m sure he wouldn’t see himself this way and would repel any thoughts of sympathy or pity.
This an adult romantic fantasy book, and those that disagree with the behavior of the the female protagonist and her male love interests are forgetting one very important detail: Anastasia NEVER SIGNS THE SUB/DOM CONTRACT Christian gave her.
This is not a book about abuse, or rape, calculated anger, this is a book about a broken man, a lovely woman, who enter into a consensual BDSM relationship. This is a couple who engage in a romantic relationship with an advantageous sex life, and here thanks to E.L. James, we get to witness first hand, the wonderful, the unbelievably sad and tumultuous nature of the that relationship.
I agree to the conditions Angel, because you know best what my punishment ought to be; only-only- don't make it worse than I can bear.
Fifty shades of Grey contains some of the most fun, playful, loving, whirlwind exciting romantic scenes and my most cherished moments in this book was the playful loving interaction between Christian and Anastasia via email. Those I won't spoil for you, but the at where my love affair with these two progressed.
"I don’t do the girlfriend thing. ‘I’m not a hearts and flowers kind of guy.‘I don’t make love.’ This is all I know."
I am completly obsessed with this trilogy. From the gorgeous Christian Grey *takes up all the space in my fantasies lately* Anastasia is a wonderful character, that I feel represents a strong willed, positively portrayed female.
When I wasn't reading Fifty, I was thinking about it. I was enamored with this book immediately and I'm now obsessed with this series! This book is not for the faint of heart but it is beautiful, passionate and by the last chapter left me broken and hollow myself, I was sobbing; but those tumultuous love stories are always my most cherished, memorable, favorite, obsessive and fascinating reads. I loved Fifty Shades of Grey!!!!!
Oh – what have I done?
I fall onto my bed, shoes and all, and howl. The pain is indescribable… physical, mental… metaphysical… it is everywhere, seeping into the marrow of my bones. Grief. This is grief – and I’ve brought it on myself. Deep down, a nasty, unbidden thought comes from my inner goddess, her lip curled in a snarl… the physical pain from the bite of a belt is nothing, nothing compared to this devastation. I curl up, desperately clutching the flat foil balloon and Taylor’s handkerchief, and surrender myself to my grief.
This book was recommended to me by my Terrible Girls; Aly, Ange, Mrs. Vishous, Samina, Marulette, Merita, Emmy The Fiction Vixen, Jade, Roxanne, HeatherJay......I can't believe I waited this long to read this, but Laura gifted me these books so that's what finally persuaded me!;) XO(less)

What a fantastic and refreshing s...more "I can't believe you're dating the hottest piece of ass in town. You must be as filthy in bed as you are out of it."
What a fantastic and refreshing start to a new series and world created around killer Fairies! Dead On The Delta is a story set in present day Donaldsonville, Louisiana after the fairies have mutated and become beautiful killers. To those that have the misfortune of receiving a fairy bite, if they don't die instantly are sent to iron camps to live among the infected for the safety of the uninfected, and wait for their slow death or gradual insanity. To those five percent lucky enough to be immune to fairy bites are graciously given employment with the FCC a government ran agency in favor of the containment of fairies.
Annabelle Lee is one of those fortunate immune workers, though an underachiever and plagued with monsters of her own. I was drawn to unstable Annabelle and her gritty fairy world from page one. Not sure what it says about me, but I'm always in favor of a protagonist with low self worth, immoral habits and socially unacceptable behavior. Which is why I feel Annabelle Lee is awesome!! Best of all Annabelle Lee is a survivor.
Alcohol is a standing tool that leaves me agonies, glossier, better than I was before. At least I feel better. After a couple Restalin and a few beers, nothing seems quite as scary.
Hell, I could probably do motherhood as long as I stay buzzed for the first few years, until the kids Learn not to eat electrical cords or toddle out into traffic. Too bad intoxication is frowned upon during pregnancy and the raising of small children.
Her gorgeous devoted police detective boyfriend Cane Cooper is a hot commodity in town sought after by others including her gay best friend Fernando, but he only has eyes for self loathing and distant Annabelle. Though he desires a future with her, she turned her back on "love" six years ago, in favor of a life of casual relationships to avoid pain. After being involved with Cane she's now discovering she has failed to keep it casual, and fears failure.
"I'll take care of you when you're sick, I'll take out your trash, I'll cook your meals, and I'll tell my mama to leave you be so you can eat your dinner in peace when we go over to her place. But I won't let you lie to me or treat me like a fool. I'm a simple man in a lot of ways, but I've got too much pride for that."
When Annabelle's best friend Fernando is arrested for a murder he didn't commit, she embraces the journey of investigating the crime on her own to prove her friends innocence. I enjoyed the untrained investigation Annabelle conducts in the name of friendship. I was on my toes the entire time guessing, just who could the murderer be? Stacey Jay did an unbelievably outstanding job at pointing the finger in all directions to throw me off, essentially confussing me just to who the guilty party is. I found all of her research to be laughable because all her clues were so juvenile and relatable such as if the dead child was referred to as "that little girl" instead of something more endearing they obviously were guilty. Lol
When her former lover turned FBI arrogant but deliciously good looking Hitch arrives in town turning his nose up at Annabelle, her world turns upside down casting judgement in her habitual daily routine of drinking, drugs and lazy self deprecative lifestyle. Their emotionally charged break-up six years ago has left her a shattered and unstable shadow of her former responsible self. Its clear to Annabelle and us readers that the break-up was clearly a misjudgment of honesty and they have plenty of issues that are begging to be repaired. The sexual tension and anger and resentment between these two are shouting to be resolved immediately!
He doesn't remember that he loved me. That he should still love me. Because he should. It should hurt him the way it hurts me. .
I recommend this book to anyone with an open mind about a witty troubled protagonist that loves a dark and gritty Urban Fantasy with mystery that tests the boundaries of love, lust, loyalty, friendship, survival and goodness.
Thanks for what? For coming back? For smiling at me? For asking me to risk my life for something important? For trusting me? For maybe, just maybe considering me a friend?

Then, he swore he would never lie to me again. And to this day, I don't think he has," Lexi said wistfully. "But I thought you said your relationship was full of lies." This time Lexi did look Bekah directly into her naively, innocent eyes to answer her, "It was. We just lied to everyone else."
When I read this quote above in Avoiding Commitment I said this is going to be angsty day. To those of you that are familiar with my taste in reading will know that Angsty book + me = My Addiction. This may not be my most angsty read yet, actually this one was pretty tame as to what I'm used to but it sucked me in like an angst junkie needing their latest fix. When I wasn't reading it, I was fully consumed with their tumultuous relationship, I had to know the story behind Lexi and Jack's dysfunctional relationship. Perhaps maybe because I saw similarities in myself and Lexi because unfortunately I have a Jack of my own, well almost......
"What? The fact that you have the capability of convincing women to hold out for you until you break their hearts?" she asked coldly.
The story begins in the present with Lexi receiving an early phone call from Jack Howard her "sorta non ex-boyfriend/best friend" whom she hasn't spoken to in two years asking her to leave her apartment in NYC while she's currently on school break to fly down to Savannah, GA to convince his girlfriend that's he's fully capable of committing to her, yet he has failed to do so any of the six years that Lexi has known him. *Insert sad face :(* What kind of man calls a woman he's had an explosive relationship with that ended tragically never speaking to her again, yet he calls for this petty, selfish reason? I loathe him already. This news hurt Lexi because she's been in love with him for the past six years and though this may break her heart, at the encouragement from her friend Chyna she has decided to do this favor for him to help ensure herself the closure so has been in dire need of for the past two years, or more accurately since the day she first laid her eyes upon him. Meanwhile we never become fully aware why they haven't spoken in the past year and a half until K.A. Linde decides to include us and that's what lead to my reading madness.
.....I can hope for love again. A love that will be more than anything however attempted to give to me. Because the love I am looking for will be reciprocated one hundred and ten percent. There will never be another someone to distract our affections, because you will not be in the picture.
You always want what you can't have, and what you can easily have you don't want anyways. Well that's my belief and Avoiding Commitment has successfully summed up my thoughts on this subject most accurately. Yet sometimes it difficult to make our hearts believe it. What essentially made Avoiding Commitment so addictive was the manner in which the story was told. One chapter K.A. Linde has me consumed in the present day of the story and just at the juicy part she began a new chapter taking place somewhere between six years ago and present day. It was fascinating to watch the full story unfold, it was as if I were slowly unraveling a mystery, and I reveled in it.
"This feels so familiar," she breathed leaning her head back against the arm of the loveseat. "Yeah, I suppose it does," he agreed amicably. "You have a girlfriend." "You don't have a boyfriend," he added. "I could have a boyfriend," Lexi said popping her head up to look at him eyebrows raised. He laughed lightly. "You don't have a boyfriend," he said as a matter-of-fact. "How do you know?" Her eyes narrowed. "Lex, I've known you for a long time.....years in fact. You don't have a boyfriend right now." "Fine. I don't have a boyfriend," she conceded, "but I could." "You could, sure. But you don't. Either way, we've been here before."
Lexi and Jack, let's be honest, they just can't quit each other, regardless of how co-dependent, self destructive, their relationship is that's based on love?, deceit?, respect?manipulation?, LUST, pure unadulterated animalistic lust! These two seem to be inseparable for the past six years, and even when they've had a significant amount of time away from each other, these two can easily pick up as if there was no time lost at all. I found it easy at times to want to pull for these two because seriously six years of love, lust, passion, heartbreak, happiness, friendship *these were the times I loved Jack* and well these two lovers deserve to finally have a HEA. My heart wrenched for these two adorably love able and charismatic lovebirds.....that is.....until I knew the full story, and I wanted to pull Lexi off the disastrous crazy love train immediately. I hated Jack once more. Lol
Jack had always been best at lying. Some people were good at sports. Some people were good at school. Some people were good at working. While some people were good at avoiding commitment, Jack was good at avoiding commitment.
Jack, oh that bastard I loved to hate. He's such a glorious villain that I have such a strong passion about his character....a passion for hating him more than words can easily express. He's a gorgeous, manipulative, selfish, charismatic, sick individual that turned my stomach inside out with his masochistic behavior. I always go for the bad boys but I find Jack to be lacking any redeemable qualities that by the end of the book, although I hated him, Lexi almost had me sympathizing with the douschebag myself. Like I said, he's a charmer, but he did not win my heart, he kept my destroying every bit of progress we made as their story progressed.
She was going to this party because of Jack. Strike one. She wanted to prove that Bekah was a phony. Strike two. And possibly humiliate her brother miserably. Strike three. Wow. She was in a low place.
Have you ever had your heart toyed with so many times that instead of doing the healthy thing and walking away, you decided a mission to destroy everyone in your path by unleashing their dirty secrets might make you feel better? I'm probably in the minority here but I actually adored Lexi, in spite of her flaws and dark secrets. She is most definitely not a saint, nor is she innocent, yet I found her at times funny, relatable, and bitchy, yet likable (besides her cheating) in many ways she was a victim in all of these manipulations and I felt pity for her. In the grand scheme of things she was oblivious to the truth behind all of Jack's manipulative behavior, I mean honestly if he hasn't made you "his" in six years or even chose you as a girlfriend over his past girlfriends after all this time, when is accurate to assume that perhaps maybe your just the "mistress" and not "his"? As sad as that revelation is Lexi fails to fully appreciate that, and believes she is the one Jack truly loves yet, he has a girlfriend that stands in the way of him fully declaring his affections for her after six years together.
In that moment, she knew. All that stuff about things being different had been bullshit. He wanted to kiss her. He wanted her.
Enter Ramsey the brother to Behak (Bitch of the South) Jack's girlfriend, and he had me swooning because there was just something so sweet and endearing about him, yet I sensed a bit of mystery under the surface that I'm eager to uncover in Avoiding Responsibility because I think he has a Billionaire bad boy side of him that I'm lusting desiring to know more about. *Sigh* Yet, what does he do for a living??? It's obvious he's a trust fund baby, but I just have a suspicion that he maintains a career in the adult entertainment industry, I just can't wrap my brain around this one, but I must know his secret. Regardless I'll take him and his outrageously sexy body, money and charm any day over Jack.
"I came here for your lousy fiancé. I came here," she paused slowly walking towards him, "to help her not make the same mistake that I did."
Bekah is so undesirable I can't imagine anyone interested in dating her or even deserving of someone so selfish, brutal, and conniving as Bekah......Oh wait, Jack is deserving of her. The entire time reading I kept asking myself; what girlfriend would want their boyfriends ex to come visit to convince him to commit to her?! I almost felt sorry for her because that just appeared to be something a very insecure and pitiful woman would do. If Jack were my boyfriend I wouldn't want him around Lexi or any other female for that matter without a tracking device because he's successful at sex and he gets what he wants, when he wants it, and nothing as trivial as a girlfriend is going to stand in the way of his sexual desires.....*what a dousche* Throughout the entire story I wanted to love Jack especially since I have a soft spot for bad boys, and I'm quite forgiving, however I struggled to find any redeeming qualities amongst Jack. He's a selfish bastard, that's wreckless with those he claims to love.
Chyna is such a breath of fresh air, she's Lexi ubber rich best friend and I loved how supportive she was towards Lexi in all aspects of life, and yet she dosed out tough love when it was needed and I admired that in a quality friend....just make sure you need the support of her friendship before she sinks her beautiful claws into her prey of the evening. If I could insert myself into this story, I'd like to be Chyna, and I chose Ramsey as my leading man. ;)
"So, as sad as this day is for me,as I am losing a part of myself with the loss of you,it is really just the beginning for me. It is like cutting off the spoiled part to get to the juicy center. So, I would appreciate it this time, if you did not try and contact me. Because, as I'm sure you know, I deserve better. I want everything this time around, and I deserve it."
Avoiding Commitment is one of those books that two days later I'm still in deep though about. It's an emotional roller coaster, and at times I had to put my iPad down and walk away because I just couldn't take the pain that Lexi's poor decisions caused her to endure in the name of "love". At times I was swept away in the sweet and delectable moments shared between these characters while reading, yet in the back of my mind I knew something horrific was going to be lurking around the corner causing my chest to get heavy and break my heart again. One page you'll be cheering and the next you'll be angry, and sad because your feeling devastation right along with Lexi. I recommend this for readers of angsty romance, tumultuous relationships with dysfunctional characters that suck you in deep because you can't put it down, yet you know it's going to be a hot mess to read!
"Will I hear from you?" "When I can hold my head up high."
Unfortunately Avoiding Responsibility is not available to purchase and I made the mistake of reading the first four chapters on Fiction Press, and I'm already wanting to slap some sense into Lexi, curse at Jack, hug Chyna, kiss Ramsey, and read it immediately! I want Avoiding Responsibility NOW! :)
"You may continue to call me inspector," "And you may call me Rhys.""I won't." "Even when I'm in your bed?" Mina dropped her hand to her gun.
"I agree. That was too brazen." he leaned in toward her, taking up too much space she could hardly draw. Breath. "I should have said my bed, yes?"
Who knew Steampunk, Zombies, Kraken, a feisty detective and a brazenly golden earring wearing gorgeous pirate could make for such an exciting and sexy read? Well I sure didn't! I should have never waited so long to read this book. I suddenly have a desire fantasy to seek out a brazen good hoop wearing pirate......Errrr of course what I probably would find is something most likely resembling a pimp with fake ghetto fabulous attire.
For 200 anguishing years the Mongol Horde has controlled England through fear and nano-agents laced in their food supplies such as sugar. The Horde continued to manipulate and restrain an oppressed society using nano-agent devices to manipulate their behavior. These restricted mechanical behaviors consisted of; manipulating emotions, suppressing anger, causing breeding frenzies leading to rape, immobility and rendering the bounders (English citizens) useless in revolt attempts against the Horde.
Not a gentlemen, but the pirate captain, His Bastard Grace, the Iron Duke. It didn't matter which. He knew exactly what he was about.
The Iron Duke begins 10 years after Rhys Trahearn a merchant captain rescued the bounders (England civilians) from the severely brutal Horde Control when he destroyed their powerful and suppressive reign. The Control tower he demolished was a signal tower that communicated with the nano agents infecting the population controlling the helpless citizens with a click of a button. This heroic almost suicide mission and brazen act saved the population from the Horde control gaining him a heroic reputation as a force to be recogned with and the revered title of pirate hero The Iron Duke.
Now free of the Horde tyranny those fortunate citizens who fled England for the New World during the Horde authority have returned to England with gold, riches and a superiority complex. This book is plagued with horribly painful prejudices towards the less fortunate citizens that have been infected with nano agents against their will and those birthed in poverty under the Horde rule.
"It doesn't matter I'd pay it for you." Her laugh was short and hollow. Of course he would. "At what price?" His eyes narrowed. "Wouldn't your brother be worth it?" A man raised in a crèche might not understand how much Mina valued her family. And so she'd forgive him that question, just this once. But she couldn't prevent the bitterness from claiming her voice. "Yes, Your Grace he is. Which means that I would be in your service for a very long time, because Andrew's worth is a hundred times greater, than any man who uses a threat on his life to strong-arm me into bed." Amusement touched his hard mouth. "I take my opportunities where I find them, inspector."
Meet Mina, also referred to as Detective Inspector Wilhelmina Wentworth she's a feisty and fierce loyal protagonist I've grown to admire. Her mother was rapped by the Horde during a nano agent controlled breeding frenzy, and it was painful for her mother to see the product of her rape that she gouged out her own eyes upon first viewing her Horde daughter. Her mother has since had new eyes installed by the talented Blacksmith and her mother now recovered from that emotionally painful experience is now an advocate for bounder citizen equality as well as making lives more productive for women. Sadly she's been afflicted with the nano agent buggers her Horde physical features are visible and it's obvious to everyone around her that she has Horde blood in her veins resembling the Horde. This has caused her traumatic grief her entire life. She has to work and excel in her work duties just to be treated as almost an equal. It's so sad because she's a good person, loyal, honest, feisty, fearless and people treat her with disgust and actually physically cause hem to her just because she was an unfortunate product of rape by the Horde.
Luckily she has an amazingly tender and honorable protector in her inspector partner Constable Newberry. He's a happily married loyal co-worker that has a devoted friendship with Mina, and he plays the role of her personal bodyguard protecting her from bigots and other other hostile victimizers lurking in the dark for unsuspecting Mina. I look forward to reading more about Constable Newberry in future installments.
In the beginning Mina has been given the task of investigating a murder victim that has been literally been dropped off on the doorstep lavish estate of Rhys Trahearn, The Iron Duke. Together they begin investigating this murder, and from then begins the exciting thrill ride. The Iron Duke sets his goal on possessing Mina as his own in bed or in work, until he discovers that not only is she slipping into his fantasies frequently she's also taking up a spot in his heart, and he discovers he wants to save the same spot for himself in her heart.
I'll start of by saying I simply loved this book. When I wasn't reading I was thinking about The Iron Duke the murder investigation. The Iron Duke is everything I desire in a hero. He's brooding, arrogant, powerful, rich, masculine, cold and detached, yet tender when he chooses, and with an insatiable appetite for "shagging" the only object of his desires. With his take charge, and ask for question later attitude this Pirate Hero is a force to reckoned with. There were times in this story I felt the steam and desired a fan to cool myself off because it was as if I were a voyeur on these sizzling excursions.
"But don't be mistaken, Mina. I don't crusade on principles. I just protect whats mine. They were on the Terror, so they're mine. And when I found Andrew, I wanted your gratitude."
Soon Mina and Rhys find themselves on a race against time to rescue his pirate cargo ship the Terror from evildoers especially because he feels it's his duty to protect his employees and Mina's brother happens to be one of them on that ship. So bound by his honorable captain duty to save his ship as well as his men aboard, he also seeks to save Mina's brother Andrew out of employer duty as well as a Hail Mary attempt to capture her approval and perhaps her heart.
Other characters worthy of mentioning In The Iron Duke were Yasmeen also known as Lady Cosair, Archimedes Fox, and Scarsdale. Lady Cosair is a hilarious addition to this story due to her brazen and cold and calculating personality. She comes across as a tough as nails brutal character that you do not want to go up against because she can hold her own. I sense that she actually behaves in this manner as a coping mechanism in order to protect herself from either future pain or pain from her past. I know we will discover her entire story in the next novel The Iron Seas because she and Archimedes Fox are the main focus of the next novel. The Iron Duke's best friend Scarsdale is a drunken hot mess, and his behavior just brightens up the entire story, I'm really hoping his book will be sooner rather than later.
I absolutely loved this story. The Iron Duke has everything I adore; a feisty courageous heroine, a gorgeous sexual tyrant hero, fighting, zombies, steampunk, kraken, imaginatively creative world building, steamy passionate scenes, loyalty, family values, friendship and most favorable of all honor.
Holding her still as he inhalled, as if drawing in her scent. He lifted his head, but didn't release her. His thumb brushed her bottom lip. "You will accept me. And now I will know you, even if you come to me in the dark." Know her? Arrogant, insufferable knacker. Her hand shot to the front of his breeches, making claws of her fingers, and trapping his genitals in a tight grip. "And even in the dark, now I'll know that I'm ripping off the right cods."

The heroine is Eugenie Markham a powerful shaman who banishes spirits, who cross into the mortal world. She's extrememly prejudiced in this books in favor of her own race but along the way she learns more about herself and her character grows in this first book of the series. Ok so there is a love triangle in this book. who doesn't love those? Its between a hot shapeshifter and super hot fey king. The shapeshifter is hot but he also comes with a bunch of secrets. Whereas the fey king is honest but he's arrogant, did I mention sexy!? What I don't understand is that Kiyo the hot shapeshifter seems dishonest, and she develops feelings for him early on even though he isn't always up front with her about his past, and they met under false pretenses as well. The fey king Dorian is arrogant confident but he's always honest with her so I can't seem to understand why she doesn't trust him? This goes back to her prejudices, because the fey king is full blooded gentry than she regards him as untrustworthy or not worthy of her love whereas Kiyo is half gentry she finds him more "acceptable". This is a great series and I can't wait to start the second book of it today. Oh and Im pulling for Dorian in the next book ;-)

"I believed that and I clung to it as, once again, I Danann Frost Fell From Grace"
I absolutely LOVED this book!!! This book was recommended to me several months ago and sadly it just sat on my TBR list until now.
This uniquely written book is about Danann Frost an angel who Falls From Grace after she falls madly in love with Prince Seth a Dark One (Vampire).
Once Danann falls, Seth sends her away telling her to never come back, it's heartbreaking to read, but he still loves her but miscommunication seems to be their main difficulty throughout this book. He was only trying to protect her, because she was in imminent danger and he planned to track her later and flee to safety together for the happily ever after, but their fairy tale ended there.
He searches unsuccessfully for Danann and they both spend 200 years apart lost in their agony of love for one another. Their love story is truly epic as Seth has no boundaries to what he will do get Danann back even if he makes her angry in the process. Upon seeing eachother Seth is a complete barbarian the way he behaves toward Danann, truly a complete asshole but I love every minute of it! He's incredibly sexy and even more so when he's angry. His angry, possessive alpha behavior reminds me of the Archangel Raphael from Nalini Singh's Angel's Guild series which I love. Seth is ruthless and savage in his means that know no limits to make Danann Frost his Godess once again.
At one part in the book I loved it when Danann in heat of anger slaps Seth across his face painfully hard but instead of being angry he grabs her hand while smirking and kisses her palm, telling her that he doesn't want her to hurt herself when she slaps him. *sigh* Definitly hot romantic moments. This book has plenty of amazing sexual tension because it seems everytime I turn a page Seth and Danann have another misunderstanding drawing an emotional wedge further in their relationship but making the book so much more fun to read! Seth is possesive, jealous, angry, demanding while Danann is very stubborn and willful and makes it her goal not to let Seth rule her life, but when he comes back the fun has just begun for me as the reader ;-)
"Seth, I never thought to return to you because I believed that you did not want me; that you had sent me away. My King.......I Fell From Grace For You . Does that not tell you all you needed to know about how I felt?"
"My Godess, if only you could feel for me now as you did then.....Danann save me, my Godess, say that you love me. Promise to love me, only me always."
Danann Frost Falls From Grace is a breath of fresh air in the PNR genre.
I would recommend this book to those who love PNR and also fans of The Notebook. It reminds me of The Notebook with a paranormal flair. I simply Loved it!!!
Thanks Cat for the recommendation and also thanks to Mrs. V for your help in persuading me to read it :-) (less)

Enjoyable read with a cameo from Reyes in anticipation of the upcoming release of Second Grave On The Left
There was no mistaking her intent. She knew I was there. She knew I could see her. And she was letting me know that she knew.
Lock your doors, check your windows, plug in your night lights, and prepare to be frightened!
This book chilled me to the bone, and I adored every minute of it. I stayed up all night to finish this not just because it was sooooo good (it was) but I was too much of a scardy cat to sleep. Amanda Stevens has made spooky graveyard stories my newest obsession. A woman's body has been found at the cemetery that Amelia is restoring and from that moment her life changes forever, and she quickly becomes wrapped up into a chilling murder mystery spook fest! The Restorer is a page turner from the beginning, and never have I read book that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. There's one part in the book where a ghost draws a "heart" on Amelia's fogged window at her home, my own heart immediately started racing a little quicker...I'm not ashamed.
His reluctance to elaborate only whetted my curiosity. He couldn't know it yet, but my persistence could sometimes border on obsession when I set my mind into something.
Amelia Gray is a cemetery restorer by trade and she sees dead people. Her father taught her at an early age not to acknowledge their presence. She's likable, believable and very relatable. Unfortunately she becomes instantly involved in the investigation of solving this murder as a consultant. This thrill ride had me guessing right along with her the entire read. Each time I would think I had fingered the murderer another suspect would reveal themselves and I was duped again. That's my favorite kind story, that keeps me guessing until the very end. Amelia and Detective John Devlin work together closely to solve this murder and they soon discover that in the presence of each other sparks unite, despite how much they try to hide their true feelings. All the supporting characters as well assist in telling this CHILLING story this web of murders, secrets and mysteries together to solve a crime spree lasting over fifteen years.
"I shouldn't be here. With You. "You scare me." "I do?" I said. "Sometimes you make me forget." My heart was pounding so hard, I though it might burst in my chest. "Is that bad?" "I don't know. I've held on for so long....I'm not sure I'm ready to let go."
She meets the delectable and oh so tortured Detective John Devlin and she simultaneously begins breaking all her fathers rules. Oh Devlin is one juicy, charismatic, scary, charming man that I hope to see more of him The Kingdom. He carries a huge burden with him in life as a survivor of a tragedy that only makes him that much more mysterious, guarded, tortured and heavy on the sex appeal! If I were stuck inside a mausoleum inside a cemetery this would be the detective I would want to come to my rescue. Amelia is immediately drawn to him but wary nonetheless because although he's unaware of it he has two protective ghost following his every move. This makes Amelia reluctant to have anything but a professional relationship with him in fear of betraying her fathers rules of staying far away from the ghosts. "Don't look at them, don't speak to them, don't let them sense your fear."
I didn't want this book to end, I'll be starting The Kingdom immediately! I recommend this book to anyone that is in the mood for a bone chilling ghost story, with a tortured romantic hero, and a very likable protagonist!

Charley Davidson is such an inspirational protagonist from the beginning of this book I couldn't get enough of her. Easy 5 stars!!! This book took me on an adventure ride that i was sad and dissapointed when i finished, because i did not want to get off. So many times while reading I burst out laughing while reading: So beware when reading this in public ;)
Never have I read a book before with so many wonderfully imaginative and witty one-liners that I wanted to memorize them so I could store them into a box for later use.
Charley's a Grim Reaper with 3.7 jobs (her words not mine) her most prided position is her own Private Investigation business enabling her to work for the Albuquerque Police Department as her Uncle Bob's (Ubie to Charley) secret weapon of choice. She's snarky, sexy, intelligent, charasmatic, empathetic, quirky, tough, and hilarious.
"My P.I. techniques would never be the stuff of legend. They would never make it into criminology textbooks or university lecture halls. But I did feel that, with some focus, I could have a strong presence in chat rooms. If I couldn't be a good example, I'd just have to be a horrible warning.
Since she has been able to see dead people since she was born, she works solving various crimes including murder as well as getting messages back to the families of loved ones whom have passed. Though most are skeptic of her abilities she has a very few followers that believe in get ability but she doesn't flaunt it or share it with many for fear of their reaction or the fact that it may be too overwhelming for the person.
I felt this quote from the book accurately describes Charley: "That's what he told me. You ferry souls to the other side. He said you sparkle like a newborn galaxy and have more attitude than a rich kid with his daddy's Porsche."
Darynda Jones did a fabulous job creating the new and original character Charley Davidson. It's a breath of fresh air in Urban Fantasy. The plot had me guessing right up until the very end attempting to discover just what is Reyes??!! Only to discover I was completely wrong!
Each character was unique and fun; from Cookie the carefree supportive assistant, Debbie the wicked stepmother, Garrett the unbelievably sexy angry doubting skip-tracker, Reyes scary but deliciously sexy protector, Angel the dead 13 year old gang-banger Private Investigator, three deceased attorneys assisting Charley in solving their murder, as well as her supportive uncle and father.
I would recommend this to readers with a flair for Urban Fantasy looking for something new, mysterious and exciting!
I'm eagerly waiting to continue Charley's story with the release of Second Grave On The Left (less)

But why am I still reading about Kiyo? Grr, and why is Eugenie at a baby shower?! In the last book I went from disliking and possibly not trusting him to in this book questioning his motives as well as his empathy and just basically not liking him at all. In regards to Eugenie he's selfish, and doesn't support her like a Bf should. She on the other hand is broadening her horizons and embracing her potential to succeed while h's the voice of doom basically always weighing her down with his own ISSUES and with what he thinks she should value over everything! In this next book I almost wish he would just cheat on her or turn out to be a spy with Maiwann or anyone so that Eugenie will be free of him for good. Harsh I know! Towards the end of the book there was an opportunity for Kiyo to step up to the plate (figuratively speaking) and protect her and he didn't do it! WTF!!?!! If I didn't already LOVE Dorian I would have began at this moment following this quote below.
"No" I said softly, feeling all the energy run out of me. I was tired. So,so tired. "I don't want a war....I can't unleash something like that" Then, for the first time so far, Dorian spoke. "I can," he said...... Kiyo turned to Dorian in rage. "What have you done?" "What you should have done." Dorian loves Eugenie and proves it not only with words but with his actions as well, with no regard for the consequences good or bad. *swoon*(less)

I'd walked through these gates a woman on a mission, bent on helping a friend and obsessed with discovering the truth. I walked out a fugitive."
Blood Before Sunrise begins shortly after the events that occurred in Shaedes of Gray. From the beginning I was completely immersed into the assassin world and felt completely captivated by the dark world Darian lives in. Amanda Bonilla has an exceptional knack for world building that captivating me from beginning to end while tugging at my heart strings, while charming me simultaneously. This speaks volumes to just how exceptionally talented Amanda Bonilla truly is.
Blood turned to ice in my veins. "Leave him out of this. Or you won't need me to steal a damned thing for you because I'll take your head right off your shoulders." Razor blades would not have been as sharp as my warning.
Darian is a Shaede, she's a snarky powerful assasin and she's been living a life filled with loneliness and despair for an entire century prior to meeting other Shaedes exactly like herself. She's now living a fulfilling life with friends, a wonderful boyfriend and people she can actually rely on. Unfortunately she fails to realize just how supportive and devoted her newfound group of fellow Shaedes truly are. She remains guarded, and still seeks to solve all her problems on her own and that contributes to more pain than truly unnecessary behavior leaving her lonely and broken once again.
"Raif is....." What is he? The Prince? An earl? I had no idea what the King's brother's official title was. "The High King's brother. And all around badass," I added.
Raif has easily slipped into the role of Darian's best friend, fierce protector and all around badass. I'm a huge fan of the intoxicatingly sexy Raif and I find myself reveling in the sibling like relationship between Raif and Darian. He's her rock in a hard place, that is if she's willing to lean on that rock.
"Darian," Raif said, calm as a still pond, "I'm afraid you're going to have to fight me for the right to kill this piece of shit." Did he know me, or what? "Because I swear to you now, he's going to fall beneath my sword." God I hoped so. I could live with knowing it wouldn't be me ripping his soul from his body as long as the bastard was dead.
Poor Raif has lived a tortured life with his wife sacrificing her life for return of their daughter Brakae whom has been missing leaving him to mourn her loss for many long torturous years. After years of finally coming to terms with the tragic loss of a daughter and accepting that she is no longer among the living, Darian steps in and turns Raif's world upside down with the desire to seek her out as an encounter with an enemy has led her to believe that perhaps Brakae may still be alive. Raif's is strongly against this search and though he desires Darian to abort this mission, her love for him blinds her from any other route but bringing peace to her beloved friend. I admire her tenacity and loyalty towards her friend and the selfless desire to heal a friends broken heart.
"Don't ever doubt me," he said in a steel-hard tone that set me back a little. His emotions were teetering close to manic--or at the very least, bipolar. I tried to pull away, but he held me, refusing me even an inch in freedom. "I belong to you. Mind, heart, soul." He paused. "And flesh. I'm strong enough."
I really love Tyler, he's Darian's boyfriend and he's an ubber sexy Jinn also known as a genie. Except this genie is alluring with model good looks, and strength and devotion to back it up. *Sigh* With his salacious good looks and, charm and heroic behavior he kept me swooning the entire book. I was eager to turn the pages quicker, sadly Tyler and Darian's relationship suffers tremendously in this installment of the Shaede Assassins series. Darians behavior towards Tyler has put a wedge in between their relationship and it's heartbreaking to endure. His health has been deteriorating slowly and unfortunately that leads Darian wanting to protect him, without even realizing that she's leaving emasculated and broken with the desire to protect and care for her. This leads to just one more issue that Darian can include on her desired obstacles to overcome. Poor Darian just can't get a break, as benevolent as she truly is.
"What if I told you I dream about you nightly? Your skin glorious and bare beneath my hands. What if I said I crave you like a drug and won't rest until I have you in my bed?"
"I guess you're going to have to look forward to many sleepless days and nights, Xander."
Fallon is a character that will leave you desiring to know more about his mysterious, yet somewhat charming background. Levi the human bartender a master of all things supernatural and Xander the foxy King of the Shaedes. He dazzled me empathically from beginning to end. The ending left me heartbroken, and yet fulfilled because without those actions from a particular character I would have lost all respect, therefore as much as the ending hurt it was fitting.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're very arrogant?" Sure. In so many words, almost everyone I'd ever met. But in my line of work you had to be a little cocky. "You have a problem with arrogance?"
Blood Before Sunrise was an exceptionally written Urban Fantasy book that I cannot recommend highly enough. If your a fan of urban fantasy, with a kick-ass heroine, gorgeous Alpha men, passionate relationships and world building that leaves you mesmerized, then this is the book for you. Amanda Bonilla enchanted me with her dark and gritty Assassin world. Don't wait to read this book, do yourself a favor and read Blood Before Sunrise immediately!!! The only disappointment is that the third installment of the Shaede Assassin series doesn't release until March 2013.

Bared to You by Sylvia Day is a book I simply cannot seem to get out of my head. I'll admit my reason behind my curiosity for this book was the recommendation for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, and anyone that knows me well will understand how deeply my passion for that series goes. Well yes this series is most definitely for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, but not because of any similarities but because they both deal with those emotionally immature characters with a scarred past and charisma that well exceeds them both. I prefer my reads to be dark, gritty with plenty of emotionally angst and upheaval and lucky for me Sylvia Day gave me just that! From the moment I picked up Bared to You I became a hermit and locked myself in my home all day hiding from the world as I immersed myself into this colorful and tumultuous world starring Eva Tramell and Gideon Cross.
"Your objections. What's it going to take to get you beneath me?" "A miracle. I find your approach crude and offensive." And a major turn on, but I was never going to admit to it.
Bared to You begins with Eva Tramell freshly relocated to NYC beginning a new career, in close proximity to her mother and her billionaire step father and her roommate and best friend Cary. Eva's best friend Cary whom I adored also a victim of an equally damaged background as well lives an advantageous lifestyle ensuring this story will filled with loads of fun, plenty of drama and great friendship. Of course Eva meets Gideon Cross the day prior to her first day at work inside the Crossfire building without the knowledge that yes Crossfire is owned by Gideon Cross. She finds him über attractive and yet she manages to walk away even though this is how she described him.
"He wasn't just beautiful; he was....enthralling. He was the kind of guy that made a woman want to rip his shirt open and watch the buttons scatter along with her inhibitions."
However, it's plainly obvious that Gideon Cross is not only Man Candy-Licious he's also Charming, Captivating, Charismatic and a super successful Billionaire entrepreneur that's used to having women fall at his feet. I'll be honest throughout this entire amazing story, I wanted to fall at his feet in hopes that he would pick me too! I'm a bit obsessed with Gideon Cross SHOUTY capitals. LOL. However, Eva is much too confident, with her own charming attributes, Witt, and self respect to do such a repulsive move. She instantly bedazzled Gideon, and made her stand out to him like a diamond in the rough.
"Take a good look at me and tell me if you see a man that's easily deterred?"
From then on she challenges him, makes him yearn to be something better than he already is; he gladly accepts that challenge and seeks impress her, protect her, and possess her, mentally, physically and emotionally.
"My gaze was locked to his, unable to look away, riveted by the fierce masculine triumph that flared in his eyes. In that moment he owned me. I'd do anything he wanted. And he knew it."
Gideon Cross is the ultimate Alpha male that I cant stop thinking about. He's intoxicating, successful, damaged and vulnerable and we see all his sides. The good, the bad, and the ugly and I loved it all. Sylvia Day has a way with words that made her characters relatable, likable, fascinating and oh so lovable. Although Gideon oozes sex appeal, charm and arrogance I love when he opens himself up emotionally to Eva, it's ugly, it's dark, quite frankly these two are a hot mess, triple the hot and triple the mess!!!! He knows what he wants and he goes after it with full tenacity including Eva. He has a troubled dark past that is slowly but not fully unravelled for us readers and I adored hearing just how emotionally ruined he is yet he manages to keep it all pulled together on the outside looking as successfully and dapper as ever.
"The way he moved, with animal grace and arrogant economy, was a major turn-on. I couldn't imagine him not fucking well and being aggressive about it, taking what he wanted in a way that made a woman wild to give it to him. "
Eva has just as dark of a past and that to me made this story believable, and instantly made me root for Gideon and Eva. What I enjoyed about Eva was that she wasn't a virgin; she's a woman who doesn't mind losing her inhibitions with a man, and knows her way around a bedroom as well as a charity event. She's intelligent, successful in her own right, confident and assertive. She is the daughter of a police detective but also a step daughter to a successful Billionaire entrepreneur so Gideon Cross had to work harder to get her attention because designer labels and red bottom soled shoes are not going to impress a woman that can purchase her own pair.
"Go spend time with a woman that salivates at your feet and makes you feel like a god. Fuck her until neither of you can walk. When you see me on Monday you'll be totally over it and your life will return to its usual-obsessive compulsive order."
The sex scenes between these two are scorchingly hot, and full of passion and eroticism. Anyone that loves me knows I prefer a good romance with sizzling sex, but these were incredible. Some characters have chemistry and then there are those like Eva and Gideon who take it to a whole entire new level. If you're looking for a dark read with two irresistible fucked up emotionally damaged characters with spellbinding moments, HOTsex, and a plot you can't help but be fascinated with then Bared to You will be your new favorite read. Prepare yourself for a sassy female protagonist and an alpha male you can't help but fall in love with. Deeper in You is to be released in October 2012 and that day cannot come any sooner.
"I'd bared my emotions in the limo and I still felt horribly vulnerable, a state I'd spent countless therapy hours learning to avoid. I wanted nothing more than to be home and hidden, freed from the pressure of acting like I was completely pulled together when I was anything but."
I'm ashamed to say that I've been cheating on Christian Grey with Gideon Cross and I've felt guilty about it because up until now I had no idea there would be another member of the Billionaire Boys Club capable of making me obsess about with my book buddies and gushing about ways to stalk him like I did and still do with Christian Grey. However after long thoughts I hope he forgives me because I plan on keeping both men.
"I sucked on his tongue, having learned how much he liked it, having learned how much I liked it, how much it made me want to suck him elsewhere with the same eagerness."
