She lived with 6 other people, but her care-taker, Jeb Batchelder disapears. No one knew where he went, but they had a pretty good idea of what happened. He got killed. She has wings as the rest of the people she lives with because they were experimented on. Thats why the book is called "The Angel Experiment". One of the girls in the house is named Angel. She gets taken away by the "erasers" that have been after the 6 angels because they are "different". At the end of the book, Max gets taken by the erasers (erasers are the bad guys) and Max sees Jeb. She hasn't seen him for over 2 years now. And he tells her that she is at the "school" to save the world.(less)

How To Ditch Your Fairy, by Justine Larbalestier, is about a young teenager, named Charlie, that gets a fairy she doesn't want. Her fairy is named a parking fairy, so where ever she goes, she always gets a parking spot right next to the location. She doesn't want her fairy, because of Dander Anders, a teenager, about the same age as Charlie. She is always taking her after school to go and find a parking spot for her. But Charlie wants to go home and do her homework. Charlie also has a enemy at school named Forenze, and Charlie always thinks of her as a boy-stealer. Her fairy is every-boy-likes-you fairy. After Charlie starts to understand how Forenze feels, they swap fairies, but anyways, neither of them like the other fairy. So after they go to school, and start to make a plan, they go to school, and go to a skiing ramp, and try to "fake die" so that each of their fairies will dissapear. So after all of the fake dying, then Charlie gets a new fairy that gives her a chance to show off her real talent, Basketball. So her fairy gives her an advantage in order to make a perfect shot every time she throws the ball.(less)

When Voldemort desides to come to Hogwarts by coming and going to hogwarts with the help of one of his death eater's son, Malfoy. He is helping his father to help out Voldemort by using the Vanishing Cabinet.
While I was reading this book, I made a text-to-world connection. When I thought about this movie that I saw recentely called Lovely Bones, and it was about how Susie dies because of her neighbor.
I would rate this book 3 1/2 stars because this book wasn't really that interesting to me that much. I wish it was more interesting because the movie was a lot better. It commented that the book had more insperation in the book, but the book wasn't all that great. I would recommend this book to only Harry Potter fans ONLY becuase other people, if i introduced the book to, they wouldn't even bother reading the book.(less)

Sam hitches a ride with a truck driver to go to a farm in the Catskill Mountains. He meets a man named Bill that has to do things like cook fish and how to make fire. Sam finds the farm and makes a house out of a tree stump. His father, Sam, comes to look for him and after he has a talk with Sam he lets him stay in the Mountain.
During reading this book, I made a text-to-text connection. Sam is a lot like Esperanza from Esperanza Rising and Sam took charge and ran away and Esperanza was responsible when her mom was sick, but she did all the world to stay at labor camp.
I give this book a 1 because it wasn't really interesting and how the story doesn't really connect to me. The story wasn't that great and it was kind of foolish to run away, what could of happened to him if maybe he got eaten by a bear or something!(less)

Amperville is a place that has two sides, one is Mouse Town, and second is F.E.A.R. F.E.A.R. is a organization for two cats, a house cat named Silversides, and a sewer cat named Graybar. They team up and conquer what they want to get rid of: Rodents. Ragweed disides that enough is enough and he gets rid of them once and for all when F.E.A.R. tries to ruin Cafe Independent, a clus set up by Ragweed and Clutch. When Ragweed sends F.E.A.R. down the sewer, they never come back and Ragweed goes back to his home.
When I was reading this book, I made a text-to-self connection. As Ragweed makes a desision to take care of F.E.A.R., other mouses deside that they should do something about F.E.A.R. too. As in real life, everyone in this world makes a desision to do something that doesn't work for them, and that changes everything. Ragweed thinks of F.E.A.R. as something that shouldn't bother him and anyone else anymore.
I give this book a 4 because the story told how Ragweed blossomed into what he was inside, a caring mouse for not just himself, for the entire town.(less)

Martin, is a story about the problems that homeless animals face on there own. The story centers around Bone and Squrriel taking care of themself's without there mother.
During reading this book, I made a text-to-self connection. My dog Buffy was found by my mother and she got Buffy at ASPCA and she was found stranded in a forest. Bone and Squrriel knows how to surrive out in the wild without them needing help.Bone and Squrriel deside to go exploring after there mother doesn't return home. They get seperated and Squrriel is left to surrive on his own. She learns quickly how to find food and shelter.
I would definitly give this book 4 stars because it was filled with a lot of afaction and a sweet story. A Dog's Life shows how much of a problem homeless amimals are and why we need to take care of all the animals, not just the cute ones we see in the pet stores.(less)

The setting is around the 23rd century and is around a big open valley of where The Village of Sparks and The City of Ember is. Lina's internal conflict is she is so scared to go back because they all left Ember becuase the generator was old, about more than 200 years and after a while it would shut down and restart but it took longer periods of time after the first one. Lina's external conflict is that she knows that Ms. Murdo is going to be mad that she left and didn't tell her where she was going.
When I was reading this book, I made a text - to - text connection to the book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because Harry was new at Hogwarts but his parents went there so he knew that school was going to be good for him. But Lina was going back to Ember and she knew that there was something that they were going to find; the jewel. Lina and Doon got a book from a roamer named Maggs that is Troggs sister that brings the Trogg's food every month.
I would rate this book 4 stars becuase the plot was amazing and I loved how Lina and Doon really connected in this book. Just one thing i didn't really like about the book was it was a little childish for me because of the 11 font size and how they draged out everything that was said. I would recommend this book to people that love fiction novels and love to see the world in a different view. (less)

Meggies's father doesn't know he read his wife into the book; Inkheart. He learns later in the story that the only way he can save her is to have his daughter read aloud the story.
During the reading of this book, I made a text-to-self connection. My dad and the father have a loving side to them, and they care for them and there family.
I would definitly give this book four stars. It was interesting idea to have characters come to life from books. I would suggest this book to anyone who likes fantasy and heart-felt stories.(less)

Her mother and father split up, and Maddy and her sister, and mom, have to live at their grandma's house. Maddy has to leave her old friends behind for what her mother and father's relationship had ended. She has to go to a whole different school, in order to make new friends and enemies. So the game that Maddy got for her birthday is named, Fields of Fantasy, and she gets hooked because that was the game she had always wanted, but her mother thought it to mature for her, and that she was too young to play in online games. But Maddy played anyways, and she met a kid at school in the game, at first she thought it was Matt, but at the end, it was a really cute guy that she liked that was at her school. So in the end, she goes out with Chad, the kid that she met online. By the way, she was a really good manga drawer. She had entered into a contest to win a 10,000 dollar prize, and to get her book published. So she won the contest, and got the 10,000 dollars, which, orgininally, she was going to use it for a schollorship for going back to her old school, but she desided to stay, right where she belongs.
While I was reading this book, I made a text-to-world connection. This game was made off of another game called WoW. (World of Warcraft) But overall Maddy got hooked to the game because she met people online that she didn't have to show her true self.
I give this book 5 stars because it was well written. There was lots of details, and I love video games, so that is why i choose this book!(less)
