Jake is an ex-con, ne'er-do-well with tattoos all over his body and feels that he's no good. Certainly not good enough for Charity (what an appropriate name), the heroine. The author does a good job of giving you insight into his psyche and you can't help but feel sorry for the guy.
The thing is, the heroine was just what he needed. I loved this line that she said to him so much, I highlighted it on my Kindle:
"I'm your woman, Jake. I'm here to build you up, not join in on the beat-down you've been giving yourself."
That's a good woman - much better than his ex, Brielle. She made me so mad!

Dear author, if you're reading this, you absolutely have to develop Holiday Hostage into a full-length novel, or at least a novella.
