Walters did such a fabulous job conveying Clay's mental illness, I'm surprised she's not a sufferer herself. This was one of those books that breaks your heart constantly and leaves you with little hope that it will get better, but it was amazing all the same. I cannot wait to read the sequel....more

Micah and Mrs. Miller Fevered Hearts 3
Over the past year, things have been crazy for the Kanes in a way Micah never imagined. The arrival of the Fevered, those survivors of the spirit fever gifted with supernatural abilities, has brought all kinds of busy to their doorstep and that is precisely why it is up to Micah to travel to San Antonio to meet the new schoolteacher. Though it started as an inconvenience on his part, one look at Mrs. Miller is enough to change Micah's mind. Almost immediately, Micah decides she's the one for him, but courting Josephine is no easy task. Trouble has followed her in the form of her husband and a group of deadly strangers whose intentions are anything but good. Can Micah convince Josephine to fight for their right to be together, or will her guilt over the danger she brought drive her away for good?
When Josephine Miller fled her wicked husband, the last thing she wanted or expected was to fall for another man, but Micah Kane catches her eye the moment they meet. The trouble is, the husband she ran away from has followed her to Dorado and Jo fears she has put everyone at risk. To make matters worse, there is a new outbreak of spirit fever ravaging the town and nobody is safe. Is there a happy ending beyond all the disaster, or will Jo's problems destroy the only man she's ever loved?
Every once in a while, I come across a book that has such an impact; I can't wait to write about it. Micah and Mrs. Miller is just such a book. Micah and Mrs. Miller is the kind of romance that you can't help but fall in love with. It is brilliantly evocative and will tug on the heartstrings of even the toughest critic.
Micah is the kind of cowboy every woman dreams of. He is patient, loyal to those he loves and has a strong moral fiber. He was also exactly the kind of man Josephine needed after all she had suffered.
Jo had the kind of valor I wish I possessed. She not only had the courage to run from an abusive relationship, she was brave enough to love and trust again. The love and passion between her and Micah was heartwarming and left me with a case of the warm and fuzzies.
New reveals about the Kanes and the Fevered were brought to light and fed my desperation for the next book. Heather Long's Fevered Hearts series gets better and better with every volume and has gained a spot on my must-read list. If you are looking for a passionate tale of the Old West, look no further than the Fevered Hearts. I guarantee, you'll thank me for it.
