Grace understands the desire to escape better than anyone. After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, she moves back in with her parents and tries to enjoy each moment left without becoming a burden to her parents.
As her sickness progresses, episodes of hallucinations begin. She finds herself 1,800 years in the past, both confused and amazed her mind could create such a detailed and authentic place. When a gorgeous, intriguing man named Roman appears in her hallucinations, she decides to revel in the experience. Each trip into her fantasy world becomes more real and precious, forcing Grace to accept she’s either lost her mind or found a way to travel through time.
I fell in love with Ms. Davies’ voice from the first line: “I came home to die.” What a powerful statement. Her ability to evoke emotion is one I appreciate as a reader and respect as an author. I experienced Grace’s pain, fear, attraction and love. Her tears were my tears. Her joys became my joys.
Why only four stars with such a great story? The book started a little slow. I loved the jumps into the past and really wanted to be there and not in the present. The story building was necessary, but took too long to get to the action for me. Once there, the characters and plot flowed together and kept me turning pages until I finished the novel.
And therein lies my other issue. Maybe it’s just the romantic in me, but the ending of the story felt unfinished…and not in a good way. If I hadn’t known there was a second book in the story, I’d have been disappointed. Knowing Grace’s story wasn’t over soothed my need for closure that stand-alone books give.
Paranormal fans that love time travel and historical elements won’t be disappointed with Ms. Davies’ new world. I know I’m not. In fact, my Kindle’s fully charged, Amazing Grace (Resurrection Book 2) is downloaded, and there’s an empty hammock waiting just for me.

Grace had always loved her family, but her life as a busy pilot kept her away from them more often than not. Until she is diagnosed with a brain tumor and everything changes. Resigned to her fate, she tries to spare her parents and brother from the burden of caring for her, while helping them accept that she’s dying.
Her body is failing, but she’s accepted her headaches are a blessing. They transport her to another time and place, one where she’s not sick and is drawn to a man named Roman. He’s exciting, dangerous and means something to her. Searching for answers draws her deeper into the paranormal world of vampires and her place among them.
I LOVED Amazing Grace. So many layers of depth and character were woven through the plotline. Roman became more dimensional. Grace found her stride and inner strength. Delicious twists and unexpected turns made this story well-rounded and absolutely captivating.
The Resurrection series is enthralling, and I cannot wait to start Sanctifying Grace (Resurrection Book 3). Again, paranormal fans that love time travel and historical elements won’t be disappointed with Ms. Davies’ world. I love it so much, I’m starting the last story in three…two…one…now!

Grace knows firsthand how easily death sneaks up on a person and follows until its shadow subsumes the last spark of life. Her diagnosis of a terminal brain tumor guaranteed the specter’s visit.
What she didn’t expect was the unbelievable side affects her headaches produced: time travel spanning 1,800 years. Her amazing experiences led her into a paranormal world of vampires that tested her physically, mentally and, more importantly, emotionally. Bonds formed in the past carried through the centuries, creating changes in not just the medical field but history as well.
Ms. Davies’ ability to create a storyline that evokes solid emotion is a skill I’ve come to expect after reading her Resurrection series. Each character had a purpose, personality depth and personal arc. I couldn’t stop reading. I devoured each page, despite knowing I would reach the end that much faster.
My only issue with this story was some confusion about the ending. While it worked in theory, (a tautological scheme) the time travel issue had been attributed to something specific (trying not to be spoilerish) and that something specific changes, how can the time travel ability continue…which allowed the circular connection these characters had with each other?
Despite that personal issue, I enjoyed Sanctifying Grace…and loved the Resurrection series as a whole. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Davies’ work, and am hoping more paranormal time travel is involved!

Carmen Ventura is forced into the life of a pirate. Dire circumstances compel her to make a heart-wrenching decision, and then live with the resulting circumstances. Her bravery, loyalty and fairness are recognized and rewarded—with an unenviable position and the responsibility it bears.
Captain Marko runs his own ship the Levant, sailing far from home to keep away from his betrothed, the Contessa De Montagne. Unfortunately for him, life-long secrets make him the target of greedy, dangerous individuals.
When Carmen and Marko’s paths cross, their fates are intertwined in a journey that takes them across land, the sea and into the depths of their hearts. I loved Treasured Chest. This story offers a high-seas adventure filled with heartfelt emotion and sizzling romance.

Pain and loss dominate her life, causing her to search out the O’bannons and exact her revenge. She finds Quinn O’Bannon and his cousin Wren running their busy mercantile. Royce O’Bannon works his successful farm. All of them can afford losing everything Tru plans to take…until fate steps in and forces her to accept help from her perceived enemies.
Time, patience and understanding from the people of Laura Creek, and especially the O’Bannons, make Tru reconsider her vengeful position. Spending time with Quinn heals her heart. And just when she’s ready to accept life has changed for the better, a dangerous man threatens to take everything she holds dear. Only by becoming the O’Bannons’ ally can she hope to save the ones she loves and have the life she’s always wanted.
I have not read Reprobate, the first in the Laura Creek series, but it had no impact on my understanding or enjoying Cost of Revenge. The second book in this series stands alone with an interesting plot and dimensional characters. I look forward to reading Reprobate and any future stories with more characters from Laura Creek!
