It was totally dreamlike and enchanting. Laini made a mesmerizing story that lifted me to clouds. It was very difficult not to devour this book in one sitting but I wanted to savour it and eat up all details.
Bascically, this book is about a blue haired girl who goes to art school in Prague, speaks over 20 languages and kicks ass. She also grew up with demons, four demons to be precise. Brimstone, the "father-like" figure sells wishes in exchange for teeth; lizard, snake, shark, bear and even human; any kind of teeth he can get. It's Karou's job to retrieve them. But what he does with the teeth, Karou doesn't know for he won't tell her. Infact he won't even tell her who she really is. She has no idea who her parents are or where she came from or why these demons are raising a human girl.
Karou is an incredible protagonist. There are so many young adult novels filled female protagonists that lack character. Karou is refreshing, unique and enjoyable. I would love to have her as a real friend. The rest of the supporting cast don't lack either. Zuzanna, the best friend is cute and loyal and not annoying or nagging. While the chimera who raised her should have been the most interesting characters, we didn't learn too much about them; which was somewhat dissapointing.
Laini's style of writing is one of the best I've come across in a YA novel in a long time. She has the ability to suck you in and keep you engrossed for hours even if nothing is really happening in the book. I would without a doubt pick up anything written by this woman.
Now on to the love story that no YA is without. Normally I don't care for romance heavy novels. They tend to be cheesy, overdramatic and just plain stupid. But now and then I come across a romance that I get giddy and guppy and fangirlish and melty and lovey and addicted and so on. That is the case with Daughter of Smoke and Bone.(which by the way is an awesome name) Insta love is always the worse kind of love story and that's what Laini did. But it didn't feel wrong or forced. It felt absolutely right and I believed that they were in love and not forced to be together because that's what the author wanted. Karou and Akiva are most definetly a match made in heaven and I hope to god there will not be a love triangle in the sequel(PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO TRIANGLE OF LOVE).
Overall this book is incredible. I could go on forever with my thoughts for this book, but I won't. Laini Taylor is an amazing author hands down and earned her spot in my top favorites list. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is the best best best book I have read this year without a doubt!...more

He drew me in within the first couple of pages and didn't let me leave until I had read the book in it's entirety. The science part of this book had me a little confused, but that's to be expected because I don't understand sicence at all. While this story is a sci-fi novel, it was also a deep look into how we humans feel and react and how some manipulate others to get what they what. Card knows how to tell a well thought out story with lots of twists and intrigue. Ender was incredibly smart, a genius among geniuses. Even when he was under extreme pressure he held his end up incredibly well. I definately recommend this to anyone interested in sci-fi books!...more
WOW. What can I say about this book other than it's amazing. I loved everything about this book. Saba, the main character, is stubborn and doesn't let anything stop her. She is tough as nails and has more heart than she knows. The language and dialouge was so intriguing and different. I absolutely loved it. The world that Young has created is so mysterious, I never knew what to expect. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, BAM, i was proved wrong. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW!!!...more

I'm not really sure what just happened but I know I enjoyed it. The Scorch Trials was definitley better than The Maze Runner but I have more questions than ever now. This book was incredible and I love how I can never predict what's going to happen next. As soon as I thought I knew what was going on, twists and turns were thrown that had me dying to get to the end of the book. I really want the last book NOW!...more
