Actual rating of 4.5 stars! WOW. Alright.. I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately.. Everything I've picked up just all seems to blend together.. same plot, same drama, every dude's a bad boy now.. Blah. And then I started Broken and Screwed.. SLUMP. OVER! Holy friggin' bookmarks this was an awesome, AWESOME story!
The Pace, The Plot and The Writing..
I finished this book off in about 4 hours one night because I HAD to find out what happened! Couldn't put it down.. Oh yeah. It was that good!
There was certain darkness to this story that was oddly refreshing if that makes any sense at all.. The plot is pretty straightforward and predictable (until the end.. OMG!), yet it's interwoven with all of these complexities, intense feelings, and unfortunate circumstances that gives this story a uniqueness all it's own. The pacing was seriously perfect. Everything happened at just the right time and had me an anxious, swooning, heart-clenching mess throughout the entire book. Hold onto your emotions because you're in for a ride with this series!
The Characters and Relationships..
Jesse Hunt is one bad dude. Finally.. Halleluiah! He's the kind of character whose actions and behavior makes you literally want to cringe, scream, cry and attack him sexy style all at the same time. He's a damaged, insensitive asshole that takes what he needs, when he needs it then he'll bust your pride, self esteem and hope into a million pieces and walk away. That's just who he is. But there's one girl he can't completely walk away from and that girl happens to be his dead best friend's younger sister..
Alex is quite simply broken. There were times in this book when I had a hard time reading through all the heartbreak in this poor girls life. After her brother Ethan died, she lost herself.. and the person she was. Her parents, the only family she had left, abandoned her, the only child they had left, as they struggled to live in a world without their son. Jesse was Ethan's best friend, and Alex loved him from the very beginning. He was the only one that could ever dull the pain.. even if it was temporary.
Now, the romance between these two is far from romantic.. Actually, as you first begin the story, I wouldn't even refer to it as romance at all. I'm fairly certain you'll have a similar reaction to my own over Jesse's awfulness towards Alex and Alex's' weakness for taking it, which may or may not have included a time out or two and a whole lotta f-bombs and other choice words.. Their relationship, even when it was just as friends, is complex, confusing and constantly surrounded by darkness. But, there is also something curiously palpable too.. something different you can feel between the characters that makes you ignore all the bad stuff. The connection between Jesse and Alex is indescribable (in both good and bad ways) and their chemistry is emotionally and physically explosive. And because of the complicated nature of story, the intimate scenes have an even bigger impact than they normally would.
As for the other characters, some I loved, some I didn't. There were so many secondary characters to keep track of.. it was confusing and a little bit overwhelming, which was why I had to knock my rating for this book down 1/2 a star. I just felt like the same kind of effectiveness within the storyline could of been had with a few less people involved. I'm sure the author has her reasonings, but that's just my opinion..
The ending.. AKA a cliffhanger of epic portions, nearly killed me! So many unanswered questions.. It was brutal! Thankfully, Broken and Screwed #2 was already loaded and ready to go on my Kindle or I would of stroked out cried. But that aside, I'm truly so impressed with the authors writing and the way she constructed this beautifully dark story. It was a totally addictive, completely captivating and overall fantastic read, and I'm really looking forward to checking out all of her other series!
Oh, and p.s., Tijan, if I'm lucky enough for you to see this review.. Could you please, please, PLEASE give us a chapter/scene/paragraph/whole book from Jesse's point of view? OMG PLEASE! I need it! Loved your book! PLEASE! ♥(less)

Initial Thoughts and Rating..
Actual Rating: 5 Stars. *le sigh* I love Harrison James and his story.. And, I love love love this series!
The Plot, The Pace and The Writing..
My Unexpected Forever is told in alternating point of view chapters between Harrison and Katelyn, which I really love because we get a better understanding of the characters and the thoughts behind their actions. We also saw quite a few flashback scenes throughout this book.. flashbacks that opened up the pasts of both characters and allowed us more insight into their lives and the opportunity to connect emotionally to the story. The relationship elements (passion, disappointment, fear, determination..) between Harrison and Katelyn, as well as ALL the secondary relationships, were translated so well. The overall plot was a bit predictable, but it honestly did nothing to discourage or slow the pace of the storyline. If anything, the predictability provided more room for readers to focus on all the great supporting scenes centered around it.
It’s probably one of the most fitting covers I’ve seen for a book yet. I love it. (p.s. I LOVE THE BEANIE! There. I said it. Katelyn’s crazy.)
The Characters and Their Romance..
The author did an amazing job with the creation of her characters for this series and the bonds and relationships that tie them all together. It’s pretty difficult to round up a cast of characters this large, and have them all play such pivotal and necessary roles throughout, but Heidi McLaughlin pulled it off perfectly! In order to better comprehend this book and the awesomeness of it’s characters, it’s important to first read Forever My Girl and My Everything..
I liked Katelyn’s character for the most part. Her story was heartbreaking but her strength is clearly visible and admirable.. Sadly, she’s still grieving and terrified to let go of the past even though her past was forced to let go of her. There were times I wanted to strangle Katelyn out of sheer frustration. But, then there were others when I wanted to simply sit and cry with her. I hated how she assumed the worst about Harrison based on his looks or because he’s in a band.. but I also understand the importance of her voicing her assumptions like that. She fought like hell against her feelings for Harrison. And while the romance between Harrison and Katelyn developed at a seemly slow pace, I really loved that they were able to establish a more meaningful relationship and built on their relationships with some of the other characters because of that too.
Harrison is a drummer. I’m totally in love. He’s mine. The end..
No really, Harrison is an epic kind of guy. Not only is he beautiful and covered in freakin’ hot tattoos and talented and fiercely determined, he’s a loving and protective dad that adores his son and is acutely aware of the impacts (i.e, having a dad that’s a rockstar, losing a beloved family member, etc..) that life can have on children. He’d do anything for his boy and that’s honestly one of the most attractive traits a man can have.. Knowing his priorities in life. Harrison closes himself off to most and only allows people to see what he wants them to see, but when he meets Katelyn, he wants her to see beneath his rockstar persona and tattoos and see him for the man that he truly is. *le sigh again* It’s not very often that we come across a male character that’s deemed a badass dude AND a hopeless romantic (that isn’t just a total pushover for love) all rolled into one! Harrison is certainly one of the main reasons I loved this book so much..
Final Thoughts and Would You Rec It..
My Unexpected Forever deals with some real issues that many of us face everyday (rock star status excluded of course). This book is packed full of engaging and emotionally charged energy that will have you flying through the pages. And to top off all the greatness we’ve been given, there’s also the musically influenced side of the story that just completes things in my opinion. This is a great read by a great author and I most definitely suggest you check it out!(less)

I loved this book! The storyline. The characters. The fast cars. The music. The tree. EVERYTHING!
Tatum Brandt and Jared Trent are next door neighbors and life long friends, but everything changed one summer after Jared returned from visiting his estranged father. Suddenly, the Jared she knew and loved, the boy that grew up holding her hand and that supported her through her mothers death, evaporated, leaving behind a brutal and broken guy that now despised every breath she took and was willing to do anything necessary to make her life a living hell.
For years, Tatum suffered at the hands of Jared’s horrid behavior and inexcusable attempts to destroy anything that could bring her any type of happiness or normalcy in high school. She’s utterly bewildered and heartbroken about Jared’s change of heart and needs to get away from it all so she decides to spend a year abroad in France. Her thought process is simple; if she’s gone long enough, Jared and the others that bully her day in and day out will just forget about her.. Seems logical, right? Well Tatum’s returned and Jared didn’t forget. In fact, he’s worse now than he was before. And she’s fed up entirely with his cruelness..
The story and their relationship..
As odd as it may sound, the relationship dynamic between Tatum and Jared, both the positive and painfully negative aspects of it, is what intrigued me most about this book. While it was sad and painful to read at times.. knowing that he was ruthlessly stomping all over her heart over and over again.. I knew that there was so much more to the story than what was being revealed.. and man was there ever! There’s a sweet and sour past between these two, as well as a very fiery and intense attraction and chemistry.. I loved the way the story unraveled slowly as Tatum and Jared struggled both within themselves and with each other.
There were a lot of other elements that perfectly supported and added to the storyline.. The mutual love of fast cars, the importance of memories and mementos, the references of great music and being able to see the transformation in Tatum as she went from doormat to bad ass. Bullying is something that unfortunately happens so commonly nowadays and sometimes we don’t want to be reminded of how mean and abusive kids are to one another, but I can tell you honestly that it was awesome to see Tatum’s backbone grow stronger with every single thing Jared and his friends threw at her until one day she just decided to finally push back! And regardless of all the humiliation and “hate” being thrown at her, she could never bring herself to hate him back. She may have tried to bury her feelings for Jared, but they remained intact and strong, but hidden because of his ruthless behavior.. She loved him. She’d always loved him. And once you love someone, they’ll always be in your heart.
Like I said earlier, the chemistry is off the charts with these two! There’s so much push and pull throughout the story too. They are constantly dealing with their feelings of anger, disappointment, love and lust, which makes for some crazy hot sexual tension. No really, RAWR!
Jared is one swoon-worthy dude too. He’s reckless and relentless with tattoos and a beautiful body I’m seriously drooling as I type.. His past is painful and he acts out trying to ease that pain. His character is mysteriously complex and complicated with many layers and it’s likely that you’ll hate him then love him then hate him again then love him even more. Tatum and Jared are perfect compliments to each other but I will admit that it does take a good part of the story to understand why. There’s some unforeseen twists and turns that pushes their relationship to it’s limits and the way Tatum and Jared uncover their past and grow because of it is unique and totally captivating. I know people will question how could Jared have hurt Tatum as much as he did if he loved her so much.. but, if you really think about it, you only hurt the ones you love and the only way to “hate” someone is to have loved them first..
Would I rec?
Absolutely! I loved the progression in this book and the way the characters grew and developed right before our eyes. The story dealt with some sensitive and realistic points but for me, it was easy to handle because the writing was so structured and well done. This is the first book I’ve read that’s been focused about bullying and the effects it has on people and while I typically would of been hesitant to read it because of my own past, I found myself completely immersed in this story and fascinated by the strength of these two awesome characters. Well done, Penelope Douglas. Well done! I can’t wait for book 2!(less)

Left Drowning probably isn't for everyone. And I say that only because the story is built upon some tragic, mature and intense subject matters that will indeed break your heart and leave you sobbing all over your kindle, but if you're a reader that can harness and understand the importance of the bad and be patient for all the good, then please.. you must read this book!
My favorite part of this story? The characters. And not just the main characters either. It was ALL of them!
It all begins with Blythe McGuire. She's drowning.. just barely keeping her head above the surface.. as she silently suffers from the untimely death of her parents along with the tragedy and guilt that surround it. The few relationships she has in life are botched and strained, including the one with her younger brother, James. Blythe has lost herself amidst her pain. It's just easier to surrender to the dark rather than fight it. Although Blythe was such a complex and emotionally overwhelming character, I was so intrigued and moved by her unknowing strength and awe-inspiring resilience. I was also kinda constantly pleading to my kindle *facepalm* with her to never give up. And there were so many times I really thought she was going to.. until she met Chris. And even after she did, I still wasn't so sure..
Chris Shepherd's past is unfathomable. He's a beautiful man with a beautiful soul and a cloudy opinion of what he thinks he deserves in life. He suffers from pain that won't allow him to love, a pain that may even be more complicated than Blythe's. But when Blythe and Chris meet up one afternoon, the tone of the story does a 180 and there's suddenly hope! Even without explanation, Jessica Park forces you to feel this instant and fateful connection that's really unlike any other connection I've ever read about before. As their relationship deepens, it also becomes more difficult because these two are battling their pasts that have forever haunted them. There were a lot of times I wanted to seriously strangle Chris. His behavior, at times, was insensitive and seemingly selfish, but once I found out why, I finally understood the reasons behind his actions. This isn't your typical love story. And that's just another reason why I loved it so much. Yes, there were happy times (and holy crap.. the sexy times? GAH! I could write a whole other review on that alone!) but Chris and Blythe had to overcome so much just to stay in each others lives. Even though they may have not been "together" throughout the entire book, their love for each other continued to grow and didn't falter regardless of the distance and obstacles they had to endure.
As for the supporting characters.. Left Drowning wouldn't have been what is was without Chris's siblings, Sabin, Eric and Estelle, along with Zach, Eric's partner, and James, Blythe's brother. I'm totally in love with each one of them. They accented the story and Blythe and Chris's characters beautifully, each in their own, unique ways. Usually, I'm thrilled for ONE superb character! Bonus for us, in this book, we got a whole cast of awesomeness!
I am still in awe of Jessica Park and the incredible talent she has. There is some seriously difficult situations here to discuss and in my opinion, topics were presented as straightforward as possible and evoked such a strong emotional reaction.. I'll definitely be reminiscing about this story for a long time to come! The storyline flowed along seamlessly and perfectly. The plot was unique, utterly heartbreaking and romantically breathtaking with a handful of unexpected twists and turns that had me clutching my chest as I read. I can't wait for more of her writing!
From emotional strength to music to physical strength to family bonds to friendship to fate.. there was constant inspiration throughout Left Drowning and I loved, loved, loved it! There were so many times when things were so dark and muddled and I thought to myself, good lord, how can this ever get better!? But as the story unfolds we learn, just as the characters do, that there is always hope and understanding and opportunity "to take a sad song and make it better.." ( Beatles lyric! #Imanerd )
The running aspect of the story touched me as well. I taught myself to run the same way Blythe did. I needed an outlet too. So I ran. And focused on the music flowing out of my ear buds because it made all of those conflicted emotions that life boldly inflicts on us everyday, just a little bit easier to handle. I really loved reading about Blythe's progression as a runner and how much something so simple helped her.. This book was just amazing on so many different levels!
"I have it in me to run for another ten minutes. And the playlist is calling my name. Chris is calling my name. Ten more minutes of running will give me ten more minutes to play in my private fantasy world where Chris doesn't pull his body away from mine, and he doesn't stop kissing me, touching my hair, or moving his hand under my shirt. He goes further, feeling every inch of my body.
And so I run in order to stay with him.."
The ending and final thoughts..
The ending was perfection. Blythe and Chris's relationship was never an easy one. Constant, trying circumstances kept them fighting for the connection they shared, each other and their families. I am so extremely lucky to be one of the readers chosen to preview Left Drowning before it releases in just a few short weeks.. I just couldn't put this book down! It's a work of art. It's actually books like this one that make me flail and gush and cry all over myself. It's an amazing thing really.. An unexplainable gift to readers like myself that live for these kinds of stories. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this book and I cannot wait for more of Jessica Park's writing!(less)

First Thoughts: Celeste: I’m OBSESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amy: Whoa. Just WHOA!
Ana: More than I expected!!
Plot, Setting, Pacing and Style: Celeste: This was a new adult story in an apocalyptic setting…so not only were Maddie and Ryder dealing with their issues as friends/lovers, they also had to fight for their lives. I was hooked! The pacing was 100% perfect; the burn was exquisite and I may or may not have been fanning myself as my stomach did flips the entire book. I love the way Ms. Weaver tells a story and I will now read ANYTHING she writes.
Amy: This book was written SO.DANG.WELL! This may sound silly, but the background details of this story reminded me a lot of the TV series, The Walking Dead (BEST SHOW EVER!), just without the zombies.. Maddie and Ryder are trying to survive in a devastated world where the odds are constantly against them. Everyday is a fight to exist and there’s always another challenge behind every move they make, including the whiplash rush of emotions that consumes these two characters. The pacing was perfect and the storyline flowed along flawlessly. Paige Weaver definitely has a way with words.. her writing style is both captivating and addicting!
Ana: I really enjoyed the storytelling. This book felt different from others of it’s type. Even though some of the elements felt familiar, the author was able to put a spin on the situations and make them feel unique. The writing was smooth and the plot flowed well, making it easy and fun to read.
The MCs: Celeste: I’m in love with Ryder, Maddie, and the both of them together. I felt like I was Maddie. She wore her heart on her sleeve and didn’t played games. Of course Ryder was tougher to reel in, but man oh man, that was the beauty of him. I loved how they could never say no to each other.
Amy: Awesome pair of characters! I so love when that happens! Both Ryder and Maddie’s characters were so well developed and perfectly complimented the story and each other. Ryder Delaney is an emotionally charged bad boy that wears a suit of armor over his feelings and his heart. And boy, oh boy, is this guy a handful to deal with! He’s fiercely protective, jealous, moody, confusing, dark and overwhelming and I’m TOTALLY in love with him. (Lol) Ryder is willing to give his own life to protect the one woman he felt he didn’t deserve.. the woman that is also one of his best friends, but throughout the story, he painfully struggles tamp down and deny his feelings for Maddie because he doesn’t do relationships or love.. Or does he? *evil laugh* Maddie’s character, as well as her dialogue, really had an affect on me. I felt her pain and confusion. And her love and need for Ryder. I understood her and the reasons for the way she felt and found myself rooting her on to fight for both herself and the man that had always been “the one.”
Ana: I liked Maddie and found myself on her side in almost every situation. She’s intelligent and stronger than she appears. I must admit that I was torn by Ryder…I loved him, I hated him, I loved him…no…really!! He’s definitely swoonworthy! A bad boy fighting his own demons and denying himself what he want because it’s what he thinks is best…gets me every time! But he did confuse me. I’m not sure why he felt unworthy of Maddie, after all, he’s a good guy from a good family and they’ve been friends forever. Could he have low self esteem while still being cocky?!? At times it made me sad for him because he blocked his own path to happiness.
Romance /Chemistry/ Cold Shower Level: Celeste: hot hot hot!! 10 cold showers! Sweet lawd, that was smoking. I’m pretty sure I could feel the hormones jumping out of my kindle.
Amy: Holy heart palpitations! SO HOT! The chemistry between Maddie and Ryder is insanely delicious! (and tastefully well written too!) Just like them.. I couldn’t get enough!
Ana: Definite chemistry… the push and pull, the strong emotions, the angst and the passion… it was all there!
Title/Cover: Celeste: The cover is stunning and the title is amazing. I think I actually like the title of the next book a little more, Promise Me Light.
Amy: Beautiful and perfectly fitting.
Ana: Pretty cover and the title is a perfect fit for the book.
Ending: Celeste: How am I supposed to wait for the next book?
Amy: Brutal! I need book 2 NOW.
Ana: Really?!?! This is where you leave me?!?!?
Gripes/suggestions: Celeste: Honestly, I loved the entire thing, but if I were to nit-pick it was the overuse of some words, like bottom. Did that affect my love for the book? No way! Still awesome!
Amy: Ok, anyone that knows me, is irritatingly aware of my love for tattoos.. Dark, troubled, ripped, gorgeous dude with (meaningful/well placed) tattoos = me, puddle on the floor, (seriously) but I felt like the amount of times that his tattoos were mentioned was actually a wee bit excessive. Rather than having Maddie always internally expressing her attraction to Ryder’s body and his tattoos, I would of liked for her to actually tell him how she felt and maybe even shown him (while telling him) .. I know I would of! GAH!
Ana: What made this book good is what also made it frustrating for me. Ryder! More specifically, Ryder’s emotional rollercoaster. There were times I wanted to yell at him stop sulking, stop being angry, stop being over-protective…and, for gosh sake, make up his bloody mind already! But then, in the next chapter, I was OK with him again…so maybe I’m the one who needs to make up my mind! lol
Final thoughts/rec it? Celeste: A million times yes!!

Thoughts on This Girl..
This book was BUTTERFLYING amazing! I adored it. Heck, I adored the entire series. And for so many different reasons! It was like taking a reminiscent stroll down memory lane. Colleen retells this cherished, epic love story from Will’s point of view and it was such a beautiful way to end this touching story. I’m still astounded by impact these books have had on me. As I’ve said before, I can’t really find fitting words to truly describe how much these 3 brilliantly written books mean to me. Have you ever had a time in your life when you’re maybe feeling bit lost or hopeless or even just simply disappointed and you’re looking for something.. anything.. to change the way you view certain things?? Well that’s where I was when I picked up these books and about halfway thru Slammed, I realized all I really needed was Colleen Hoover’s inspiring and impressionable way with words..
I could not put this book down. Literally. I was completely riveted and captivated by Will’s reasoning’s and actions and feelings this time around.. There is so much emotion packed into every single page of this book.. It’s breathtaking and heartbreaking and quite honestly, just perfect.
Will, Layken and their romance..
Will and Layken had this instantaneous, super magnetic and totally swoonworthy whirlwind romance that will have you sighing and crying and yelling and swooning HARD all over the place. If you read this series for nothing other than to experience the romance aspect of it, then do it. Seriously. I promise you will fall in love with these characters and the love they share for one another just like I did.
The poetry and it’s role in the story..
O.M.G. I loved it. I absolutely loved it. Poetry is such a beautiful form of creative expression. Will and Layken’s relationship blossoms around these poetry readings also known as ‘slams‘.. Now I’ve always been a big fan of poetry, especially when it’s meaningful and romantic and descriptive like it is in these books, but I hadn’t heard of a poetry slam before.. (for those that don’t know, it’s basically a competition or performance between poets that recite their work to an audience and judges to be scored..) I’m now making it my mission this summer to find a poetry slam that I can attend because I MUST see this. In This Girl there’s some new poems that we didn’t see in books 1 and 2 and they are absolutely beautiful. I got goosebumps and butterflies and cried a little as I read through each one.. I think I might be a weeeeeeee bit emotional, eh? It’s powerful stuff! No judging! I can’t help it!
I seriously highlighted at least three quarters of this book! True story! And then the moment I turned that last page, I immediately went back to the beginning and flew through it again! Yes. It’s that wonderful. I highly, highly recommend this series as well as her Hopeless series and ANYTHING else penned by the brilliantly talented and amazing Colleen Hoover.(less)

It's heartbreaking, raw, dark, amazing, overwhelming, unpredictable and every other word I can't seem to think up at the moment. This story won't be for everyone, but if you're looking for a brilliant read that can evoke a whirlwind of emotions, both the positive and the negative, you must check this book out. No, seriously. Run.
Travis and Abby drove me crazy. The fighting and all the bad decisions made me want to strangle them both! But that aside, the love they shared was intense, and true and even a bit scary at times. I NEEDED these two to be together. With a connection like that, you can't help but root for them to fight for one another and their relationship. I must admit, I love bad boys with a semi soft spot for the one they love. Travis is the definition of just that. He's not your typical bad boy either, you know the one that starts off all kinds of bad but then turns into a foolish mess by the end and is totally reformed.. No, Travis has issues. Mega issues. And he makes a lot of mistakes. He fights and smokes and drinks, along with a whole lotta other crap but his character is relateable and believable because he's not just a this perfect guy with a perfect life.
The writing is superb and so well executed. I'm still overwhelmed from the wave of events and emotions this story took me on. Well done, Jamie McGuire. Very well done.(less)

Camille (aka "Cami") is the daughter of a wealthy thoroughbred breeder trying to learn the ropes of her family's business... Fate intervenes, paths cross and sizzling chemistry explodes between these two very relateable characters...
♥ What I Loved: The believability of the storyline was one of the main reasons I was hooked on this book. Also, the chapters alternated points of view, and I absolutely love that. It gives us as readers insight into both of the main characters thoughts and in my personal opinion, adds more depth and captivation to the storyline.
And let's not forget to mention all the hotness that is Trick as well.. Whoa! And it's not just physical attractiveness either. He's a genuine gentlemen with an edge, a strong role model for his younger sibling and responsible son that would do anything for his mom and sister. (He's smokin' hot too.. crazy hair, memorizing eyes, ripped bod and a true cowboy to boot.. Jeez, never thought I'd admit to loving a badass cowboy, but YEE-HAW!) Like I said above, the chemistry Trick and Cami share is explosive! (This particular book of Leighton's is geared towards a more mature audience if ya know what I mean.. *cheeseywink*)
♥ My Critiques: My only complaint is that the beginning of the story was a bit slow... but perhaps it was just me being extremely impatient. And please don't misunderstand, this book was not lacking or boring by any means! After finishing, I now see and appreciate why the storyline had to develop the way it did, but at the time I was reading, this is how you would have found me: *whining out loud to my Kindle* "OMG... WHY AREN'T THEY TOGETHER YET?!"
♥ Final Thoughts: The Wild Ones is an well written, enduring love story with a great balance of romance, drama and cast of well developed characters. The unexpected plot twist will unnerve you a bit and break your heart but Trick and Cami must learn to understand and accept difficult mistakes of the past in order to spend their lives together.. If you're looking a great romance read, filled a roller coaster ride of emotions, some crazy intense sexual tension and a hot cowboy, this is your book!
I have been a HUGE fan of Michelle's writing since I read her Blood Like Poison series early last year.. Not only is she a phenomenal author with incredible talent, but she's a fantastic and lovely person as well. If you haven't read any of her books, I highly recommend you check them out!

He’s struggling to accept what the future holds for him; a meaningless job, an upcoming marriage he’s not sure he wants and disapproving, impending in-laws that constantly remind him that he is not nor never will be good enough for their daughter.
As he attempts to focus on what should be the happiest time of his life, his marriage to Clarissa, Brandon’s extremely wealthy yet absent father suddenly reappears, insisting that Brandon accompany him on a spur of the moment trip to Sweden to meet a mysterious man that will supposedly change their lives forever. Although Brandon is reluctant, he gives into his father’s demand, prepares himself for the worst and goes to Stockholm. But things don’t go as badly as he anticipated… actually, it’s quite the opposite. Brandon meets Saga. A beautiful, Swedish woman (obviously not his intended bride) that steals his heart and shows him that there is more to life than just suffering through it.
My Sweet Saga is unique. Witty and genuinely heartfelt. Exciting and emotional. I can honestly say that it has been a long time since a story has impacted me the way this book did. It was written from a guy’s POV which produced a truthful and refreshing take on love and life and let me just say this book is beyond hilarious. The author definitely has a brilliant sense of humor. There were so many different parts throughout that had me cracking up… out loud.
Brandon’s dialogue is extremely blunt at times, uncensored and brutally honest and perhaps a bit shocking when you first begin reading, but it’s one of the main reasons I enjoyed this book so much. I LOVED that I finally got to read a book that focused on love, sex, romance, humor and just life in general, written solely from a guy’s perspective. It was very… insightful in my opinion. I mean what woman wouldn’t be curious to dive into a man’s thoughts and opinions on those topics? I know I certainly was! So if you’re looking for a story full of strong and believable characters, a fully relateable plot that will engage you from cover to cover, an exciting journey through the beautiful streets of Stockholm, Sweden, family secrets, a complicated love triangle and some awesome, random top 10 lists, then this book is for you.
An amazing debut novel. I’ll be eagerly awaiting more from Brett Sills. Highly recommend.(less)

I cannot wait for book #2. Tyra Lynn has an amazing ability to pull a reader into the world she so cleverly created with her vivid, beautiful and descriptive writing. I admit, I was a bit lost (but still fully engaged) in the beginning but everything falls into place perfectly in the end. I highly recommend reading this book. (less)

Caught in between the living world and the after-life, Gabriel must learn to survive within the boundaries of his new temporary existence as he awaits judgement from above. As Gabriel struggles to understand his place between heaven and hell, he meets Dori and is instantly drawn to the warm, compassionate soul that she is. Tossing aside the advice he receives about limiting time and effort spent in relationships with humans, he finds that he needs her. Wants her desperately. Has to have her, but can she except who.. or what Gabriel is? And with a chance at redemption, will Gabriel be able to make up for his past?
This story is absolutely brilliant and had it all; intriguing characters, a strong, captivating plot that was well executed, exceptional writing and an entirely unique spin on vampire mythology and supernatural beings. One of the best books I have read this year. Highly, highly recommend!! (less)

Avalon is the only place where Fae and humans can coexist.
16 year old Dana Hathaway is frustrated and fed up with having to always be the responsible one, or "parent" if you will, to her alcoholic mother. After an embarrassing run in with her drunk mom at her recital, Dana decides to seek out the Fae father she has never met in Avalon. From the moment she steps off the plane in London (the place one must go to access Avalon), she is thrown into a steady stream of difficult situations - leaving the ordinary teenager she once was in the past. Dana now feels lost, alone (even more so than before and regardless of the presence of her father) and consumed with all the lies swirling around her. She's been kidnapped by her Aunt Grace, rescued by 2 Faerie siblings, Ethan and Kimber, catapulted into the confusing realm of Fae politics, and told she's a very rare, very powerful, Faeriewalker all within the confines of just a few days after arriving in Avalon.
Both the main character and secondary character development was spot on and the author left enough room for the expansion of character's positions in the story for future books in the series. ( I need more of the mysterious, seemingly dark and gorgeous (Knight) Finn and (Un-Knight) Keane... RAWRRR!!)
Glimmerglass is very well written, well paced and keeps you engaged up until the very end. I've found that some Faerie books have intimidating, complex backdrops that easily lose readers attention early on, but that's not the case here. The simplicity of the authors words allowed for a better understanding of the needed descriptions of the politics and backgrounds associated with the Fae world.
If you're looking for a great read full of magic, romance, an omg-I-can't-decide-between-these-two-super-hot-characters love triangle, a dose of teen angst and some really good action scenes, I'd highly recommend giving Glimmerglass a read!(less)

Rescued from her heartbreaking childhood, Olivia is taken in and raised by the Eagleton Coven; A coven that houses and protects others that possess magical powers/abilities from the evil witch hunters that want to eliminate her kind; The Venators. Being the strong, independent yet rebellious 19 year old that she is, makes a mistake and finds herself banished from the safety of her family and is forced to survive in a sort of exile amongst the human world for the summer. She's been deemed unwanted by her human family and shunned by countless others so being made to act as if she's one of them proves to be the absolute worst case scenario for her. And then.... in walks Jackson, the gorgeous, mysterious musician that changes her perceptions of humans and throws her hormones into overdrive...
When the Venators strike, threatening her and her family, Olivia must somehow use her powers to protect those that she loves, including her new found human friends.
The chemistry between ALL the characters paired with the constant pivots in the plot will entrap you throughout the entire journey of the book. Ms. Spencer has captured a fresh new twist on traditional witch stories and manages to create a perfect balance between drama and action, comic, light-hearted relief and intense passion. I just loved this book. For those of you that love YA paranormal romance, this one's for you! Highly recommend.

Mina is lost without her beloved, Blake Beldevier, and struggles to cope with the overwhelming pain and sadness that now blankets her existence. The reality that she is partly responsible for breaking her childhood love's heart and landing him in a coma, along with Blake's exile, his brothers death and the ruin of Meadowlake is taking it's toll, looming heavily over her conscious and literally consuming her entire being.
After vowing to face her loss and finally let go of Blake, Mina suddenly finds herself catapulted into an impossible quest to save her Arthurian Knight from an atrocious real-life nightmare. Supported by her two closest friends, Delta and Sam, the threesome travel to Egypt and must somehow find Blake before times runs out and his soul is lost indefinitely. Mina quickly rights herself, faces her fears and determinedly faces the frightening afterworld her save her one true love.
The characters are all honorable in their own right and so easily lovable, allowing for readers to connect even more so with the story. Delta, Mina's best friend, is probably one of my favorite characters ever. She's quirky and sarcastic and strong but fiercely protective and loyal to those that she loves. The only negative (and it's not necessarily negative actually… perhaps more so a personal preference maybe...) thing that I can say in regards to this book was that it seemed like it took forever and a day for Blake's physical reinsertion back into the story (But, I also understand the need for Blake's absence). I adored, couldn't get enough of, and swooned frequently over his character and if you've read The Forests of Adventures, you know what I mean. #TeamBlake
The plot build up and explanations of Egyptian rituals and myths were conveyed in a matter that I found very interesting and quite easy to understand. The storyline is a uniqueness all its own and is overflowing with great twists, turns (some lovely, some scary) and legends that will keep you hanging from each page. I have completely fallen in love with this emotionally charged, enchantingly descriptive world that the author has so brilliantly created. The story is brimming with beautiful analogies and lyrical prose. I found all the 'British-isms' in her writing to be so charming and felt it adds something special to Katie's already magnificent way with words. As with the first book, this book ended with a gripping cliff hanger that will leave you reeling for more. Can't wait for the third and final book in the series. Highly recommend.(less)
