The purpose of this novel was to add yet another great novel to Terry Brooks collection. He is just spreading the depths of his fantasy world to an entirely new setting. The theme of this novel is to follow your dream. Regardless of what your dream is, if you work towards it, you will reach it. He went from village to village living off their food for only days at a time before moving farther away from the rebel army. He eventually became a child soldier, and had a tough time recovering from it afterwards. He goes on to live a semi-normal life in America, and eventually writes this novel to share his story. The author's purpose was to spread awareness of genocide and child-soldiers. He went through a vivid difficult childhood during wartimes, and had a tough time recovering. He doesnt want this to happen again. The theme was it is never too late to turn your life around or make what something bad into something good. He made a life changing decision after he recovered from his drug addiction and child soldier life style. He decided to speak about his life and spread awareness of child soldiers and genocide. This novel is very detailed and definately life changing. Great story....more

He was given the charge by an old Faerie creature called the King of the Silver River. He is in a race against the clock to find his aunt before Shadea and her Druid companions find him. He slips through the Druids' fingers one more than one occasion with help from his elven friend Khyber, and his Aunt Grianne's servant, Tagwen. He eventually brings her back from the Forbidding, and helps her rid the world of the Druids who plotted against her and the demon who entered the world from the forbidding. Overall I thought it was a great novel. I liked how Terry Brooks showed different people's prospectives throughout the story. He told what was going on with each main character from their own personal prospective. His purpose of writing this novel was to carry on the Shannara series, and end the High Druid section of the series. He is a great writer and wants to carry on the tradition while adding new twists to his fantastic series. The theme of the novel is, to help when you can, but when your help is no longer needed, move on. Grianne Ohmsford started the Third Druid Council, but after being banished to the Forbidding by her fellow Druids, she realized she wasn't meant to lead. She eventually resigns leaving 3 trusted Druids in charge, and disappears from the world.
