apart from that: enjoyable to say the least. Quite a change of scenery for me; a dominant female. I did not see that coming :) but i really liked the way it sneaked into the story. Interesting! But again, I would have liked to know the characters a bit more in order to feel really connected.

I've been looking for some m/f romance WITHOUT the TSTL heroine, the eternal virgin, the -no backbone left when I meet THE man- sh*t, the silly silly girl posing as a woman who happens to capture the eye of the wealthy alpha male.... you catch my drift.
None of that: Hurray!!!! It's my main reason for reading m/m, the equal partners, two strong characters. So after searching for 4 years, i find it by accident when I add a few free reads to my e-book order. Ha!
honestly, for a book like Love the way you lie, it's been worth the wait.

I completely missed the fact that this is book 2 in a series, duh must have been distracted by the torso :p anyways, too many similar covers about. But let's not sidetrack from the Passion! it's overwhelming! *swoon sigh faint thudd* it's breathtaking, can't stop reading, somebody help me! I'm stuck in shifter heaven and i do not want to leave.
Mary Calmes: highly addictive, to be read with caution, 3 or 4 a year at max cause i'm afraid the intensity would soon dull and that would be a real pity.

Book 3 is so high in emotions, the rollercoaster, the anguish of the beginning relationship.... and then the massive cliffhanger... the suspense was unbearable !!
and then we get book 4... it just starts off as a big mess. Dex running out no matter what. I also found the writing too descriptive in the first part of the book. for example when Dex is following that doctor around in the hospital...they stopped at the nurses station and back on the move again. I wanted emotions not a description of the hospital layout. And the almost-recognised nurse...why oh why? Like Dex would have paid attention to any of the nurses when Sloane was wheeled into the hospital? it just seemed very unlikely.
moving further into the book the unlikelinesses (how do you spell that?) kept adding to the pile. The whole Dex-on-a-quest is understandeble but I was glad Sloane put an end to that sooner rather then later. Sloane was the more mature person throughout this whole book. At one point Dex is even questioning whether Sloane loves him??? Hello did we not establish that last book? I had issues with that part of the book. it felt far-fetched, took down the flow of the series, Dex got cold feet, questioning his relationship in a big time, reverting to his old habits and it only takes one talk with Lou to straighten that out? Too easy....
the whole team going rogue.... i really wished there could have been another way to solve this story. It's all so constructed, overly explained why they cannot go legit and hey surprise, everybody is in on it. Even another team? come on.. that's just too much. I'm glad Seb got the respect he deserves but to have everybody close an eye on the illegal operation. yeah right. I kept feeling I had to forget what i was reading in order to continue believing in the story.
There were some key markers in this part of the series. Sloane & Dex affirming their relationship, moving to the next step. Cael & Ash getting past their initial hurdles & Hobbs/Calvin. Maybe a little too much to cram into 220 pages? I got the feeling the story was forced in order to get to these relationship markers and I really really missed a natural flow to the story. I'm guessing nobody would mind an extra book if that give more room to a gradual development of the story? :)
Best part of the book: last chapter with Maddock, that is hilarious and back to the Thirds i remember.
It's always great to read a truly good book by a (to me) unknown writer: yay, much more good stuff to readin 2015!

I really liked this story, although I was rushing my reading a bit cause I wanted/hoped for a good ending. But that only proves how good this was ;) We truly get it all: natural flow to the words, fab characters, strong & realistic. A delicious treat!
It's cute at times but with a gritty edge. Prince on a white horse meet rough cinderella... could be too sweet, too fluffy but it never is. I think i'll re-read this soon cause I want to revisit the emotions and ponder a bit on the message... lovely
I bought this on a whim. I really hoped it would be good. alas alas alas...'ok' is all i can manage. I didn't hate the book, I can't say it was bad...I bought this on a whim. I don't understand why there are no good BDSM writers out there. Maybe I haven't find any yet? sure hope so. For now, all I have come across is bad writing, flimsy stories, empty characters and worst of all: no hot scènes. I don't get it:)
Anyways: Kade, our 'boy'. Pfff, he is a mess..... it's totally unbelievable he would be a professional in his job and be sooooooo very insecure in his personal life. Really? the best thing about this book is when Deacon tells him he should get counselling.
yeah, that would be a start.
Deacon wasn't half bad as a Dom, however I get the feeling all the Doms are interchangeable. Deacon, Sam, what was the other one they meet at the club? they all act alike. they are the epitome of 'perfect' Dominants, considerate, patient, altruistic, ... picture perfect.
Kade is insecure, low self-esteem does not cover it, try NO self esteem. Throughout the book he finds his self esteem because Deacon loves him, chooses him and continues to do so (patient uhuh) Well, i'm sorry, I do not believe it healthy for any person to define themselves and find selfworth because someone else loves them. Not at the level Kade is at. That would call for.... therapy!
that said: there were some interesting things in this book, scènes that held promise, even a few nice ideas. But these did not outweigh the annoying ones. Continue the search for good BDSM... ...more

I didn't mind reading them the first time around but now I found them dragging the story down. Especially book 2 is a little too packed on the action-mode to my tastes.
book 3however: lovely! Curious to found out how Ash will evolve. He seems to be a bit more damaged by his past then Sloane is. Or maybe a little less loved :) I'm sure that will change...
I love the banter between the guys. The balance is well kept. Nothing bugs me more then too much HooraaMotherfuckeeer blablabla.

while I did like the MC's and the overall story, some things bugged me. To my feeling there was too big a difference between writing styles. The night-off-undercover felt like I was reading a different book. There were a few errors with the names though, Ridley & Saeed, Ridley & Mahir.. nope.

The reader is treated to a beautiful yet painful struggle for love, we get 2 characters with lots of baggage, trust issues, dissapointment, you name it, i loved it! A very realistic love story filled with lots & lots of emotions, the good and the bad, sometimes the ugly, sometimes heartbreakingly beautiful and the cherry on top is *that* scene in the loveshack. ZA Maxfield is one of my favorite authors and this is definitely one of her best. Brilliant writing!...more

I was really hoping this one helped me get over the B&C fiasco but alas,it was more of the same. Instead of a book over Nick & Kelly we get a boring, not to say irritating detective treasure hunt. It's use missed me completely. We get some snippets of a grumpy, stressed-out Nick and a over-accomodating Kels. I'm really disappointed by how this book turned out. Kelly has so much potential to be a real strong character... he is reduced to a sidekick (shut up & be pretty) and Nick's main emotion is biting his cheeks, flexing the jaws and more of that oral crap.
not to mention the totally unbelievable parts where Kels is dragged along to a murder scene, consults on the case, blablabla really??? feels like the plot is thought off in one afternoon on too much coffee and history books. Gimme some content please
