I really liked this story, although I was rushing my reading a bit cause I wanted/hoped for a good ending. But that only proves how good this was ;) We truly get it all: natural flow to the words, fab characters, strong & realistic. A delicious treat!
It's cute at times but with a gritty edge. Prince on a white horse meet rough cinderella... could be too sweet, too fluffy but it never is. I think i'll re-read this soon cause I want to revisit the emotions and ponder a bit on the message... lovely

I don't understand why there are no good BDSM writers out there. Maybe I haven't find any yet? sure hope so. For now, all I have come across is bad writing, flimsy stories, empty characters and worst of all: no hot scènes. I don't get it:)
Anyways: Kade, our 'boy'. Pfff, he is a mess..... it's totally unbelievable he would be a professional in his job and be sooooooo very insecure in his personal life. Really? the best thing about this book is when Deacon tells him he should get counselling.
yeah, that would be a start.
Deacon wasn't half bad as a Dom, however I get the feeling all the Doms are interchangeable. Deacon, Sam, what was the other one they meet at the club? they all act alike. they are the epitome of 'perfect' Dominants, considerate, patient, altruistic, ... picture perfect.
Kade is insecure, low self-esteem does not cover it, try NO self esteem. Throughout the book he finds his self esteem because Deacon loves him, chooses him and continues to do so (patient uhuh) Well, i'm sorry, I do not believe it healthy for any person to define themselves and find selfworth because someone else loves them. Not at the level Kade is at. That would call for.... therapy!
that said: there were some interesting things in this book, scènes that held promise, even a few nice ideas. But these did not outweigh the annoying ones. Continue the search for good BDSM... ...more

I didn't mind reading them the first time around but now I found them dragging the story down. Especially book 2 is a little too packed on the action-mode to my tastes.
book 3however: lovely! Curious to found out how Ash will evolve. He seems to be a bit more damaged by his past then Sloane is. Or maybe a little less loved :) I'm sure that will change...
I love the banter between the guys. The balance is well kept. Nothing bugs me more then too much HooraaMotherfuckeeer blablabla.

I was really hoping this one helped me get over the B&C fiasco but alas,it was more of the same. Instead of a book over Nick & Kelly we get a boring, not to say irritating detective treasure hunt. It's use missed me completely. We get some snippets of a grumpy, stressed-out Nick and a over-accomodating Kels. I'm really disappointed by how this book turned out. Kelly has so much potential to be a real strong character... he is reduced to a sidekick (shut up & be pretty) and Nick's main emotion is biting his cheeks, flexing the jaws and more of that oral crap.
not to mention the totally unbelievable parts where Kels is dragged along to a murder scene, consults on the case, blablabla really??? feels like the plot is thought off in one afternoon on too much coffee and history books. Gimme some content please

Cause you just want to know what'll happen to Sam & Jory, you want them to get a great happily ever after.
You know what? not gonna happen.
okay they get married. somewhere, no details in the book huh no. Totally skipped that part. *say what?* yes, you heard me NO S & J marriage material.
I found it really irritating the way Sam and Dane ignore Jory. They start yelling, squinting, threatening, ....man oh man that really annoyed me. Why would not write normal conversations? I skipped...and skipped....and skipped. and then there would be a nice scene & decent conversation, oh and maybe some emotions. Fabulous.
but alas, that was a little in-betweenie, back to the repetitive kidnapping, murder drama (what was the whole thing with the Reids anyway?)
anyways, i'm gonna wrap up my rant:too much unwanted 'action' & not enough J&S
I'm really disappointed, i was hoping for a great read on how they manage with friends & family & their love. But that was more of the side-note in these 2 parts. Sad...more

I re-read Scorpions 1 (bloooooodddyy hell is that good or what!?) and this second installment just adds more layers and more and more... I cannot wait till number 3! Not much longer, i guess but still... aargh ;-)
The scorpions, gutted, slaughtered, reduced to a crippled bunch. Such a sad, sad turn in their history. I cannot understand why Adrastes would give up his men so easily. Cause that's where he started losing them...when he made that god awful decision to go into battle.
Well, Kendras picked up the pieces, one by one and he's more than capable of being the Officer.
I really love the romance in this story. There is no happy-ending (so far). The moments between Kendras and Adrastes are very intense but soon everything changes and you know what? I thought that was exactly what this story needed. People change, power changes people, you move on and feelings evolve. It's the truth of life and Aleksandr shows us every bitter, dark moment as well as the soaring heights of new found love & souls connecting. 5 stars is a minimum. ...more

He is refreshing, openhearted, loves the world and all the people in it. He follows his heart wherever it may take him, in a 'jump first, think later' kind of way. But, and here is the but, that kind of thing is difficult to pull of. Thanks to Mary Calmes talent she succeeds most of the time.
Sam is a whole other ballgame. I can't really say i like him. He is just plain rude, gruff, grumpy, mopy, loud, headstrung, 'say NO first, then start thinking & be sorry'... I guess for me, Sam was a bit too big for life.
But the attraction is smokey hot, lot's of 'wouldashouldacoulda' which I luv.
So far for part 1 (and 2), cause it all goes downhill from that point on.

I started halfway, where the 'real' story kicks off and you know? maybe I shouldn't have done that. Maybe without the re-read the story would still be radiant and 5stars blazing!
But honestly, a few things bugged me. I didn't want to re-read the endless near-death gee I jumped off the balcony crap. Really, who does that? I didn't want to re-read about the 4 b*tches, that college story was sweet but my god, those women were horrendous at the hospital!
What i did want to re-live were the super intens emotions. The story of these 2 men feels so real, so 'right in front of me, I can almost touch it' it's eerie! The vocabulary used by this author is truly amazing, one can count similar authors on 1 hand and Mary Calmes has popped straight into my favorite author-list.
Damn.... I'm gonna give this 5 stars anyway :)...more

No instant fixes in this book, oh no, quite the contrary, layer-upon-layer of f*cked up childhood memories and an impressively patient Dex. The bad guy is one tough cookie to crack, Charlie Crochet knows how to build the characters and keep tension high!
this series keeps you on the tip of your seat with a big grin plastered on your face: addiction is instant ;)

Well-paced, fucking awesome worldbuilding, solid characters, no excess dumb-boy, realistic relationships, silly when needed, puts-a-smile-on-my-face, thank you lord for writers like Charlie Cochet, bloody love Dex and Sloane and Ash and Cael and every single one of those men (and women) at Thirds.
not to forget the ultimate yumminess of our main characters (my god, Alcide and Kirk??? i've died and gone to geeky hotness heaven!!!)
djeezes I'm raving :)
and a descent plot, yes, that too. One cannot stop being enthousiastic about this series. Mega awesomeness, bring it on!

If you have never ever read something by JCP, please do so now, you will not be let down.
Do i ever want to read meaningless romance ever again? hell no, not after this kick ass ride! I'm glad this is not your regular m/m, Meatworks provides a gritty painful teethgrinding once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is such a pleasure to read a story this realistic and engaging.

I didn't get the beginning....Ty & Zane are enjoying some down time, getting frisky and hopsa presto: action rolls in, all over the place and I kept on wondering: what, What??? what now? it all felt so rushed, thrown in together to get some action and a half assed plot to tell us the memories of Ty and Zane.
Don't get me wrong, i'm glad we got to know their history but if all felt a little too constructed. and as soon as the plot's gone so is the book. we get a bit of sweet lovin in the end and they make up in a grand way but.... i don't know. got a major 'but' feeling.
maybe Abigail Roux should focus on the relationship in stead of dragging some half assed conspiracy plot in it? dunno, just a suggestion. Just give us Ty and Zane in all their glory, you know we'll love it.
right, can't wait for the next one, not after THAT kiss ;) ...more
