I'm not the Daddy affecionado, not my cuppa but nevermind that.. Candace is rocking this book, amazing! She's so different then the glimpses we saw in the previous books. Struggling to find her path, keeping her eyes on the chosen track. Respect! She keeps on trying, no matter what.. her history, her present situation, never did she loose faith in herself. And never ever did she compromise and let herself become an empty pretty shell. Wow!
Ivan, of all the mean and powerful alpha heroes, surely he had the most to prove. And after a while he shows what's under the veneer. Beautiful. In all his flaws, he stands by Candace and eventually becomes a better man. There were so many clichés lurking behind the corner but Skye Warren managed the evade every single one of them.
Beneath the Daddy fun, this is a story of 2 beautiful but scarred people finding their path in life and sticking to their true believes. A happy/dark romance, i loved every gritty bit of it!...more
Sooooo... kinda liked it, not a massive crush, there was a bit of a dip towards the middle, maybe 50 more pages would have created a stronger feeling?Sooooo... kinda liked it, not a massive crush, there was a bit of a dip towards the middle, maybe 50 more pages would have created a stronger feeling?
apart from that: enjoyable to say the least. Quite a change of scenery for me; a dominant female. I did not see that coming :) but i really liked the way it sneaked into the story. Interesting! But again, I would have liked to know the characters a bit more in order to feel really connected.
I bought this on a whim. I really hoped it would be good. alas alas alas...'ok' is all i can manage. I didn't hate the book, I can't say it was bad...I bought this on a whim. I don't understand why there are no good BDSM writers out there. Maybe I haven't find any yet? sure hope so. For now, all I have come across is bad writing, flimsy stories, empty characters and worst of all: no hot scènes. I don't get it:)
Anyways: Kade, our 'boy'. Pfff, he is a mess..... it's totally unbelievable he would be a professional in his job and be sooooooo very insecure in his personal life. Really? the best thing about this book is when Deacon tells him he should get counselling.
yeah, that would be a start.
Deacon wasn't half bad as a Dom, however I get the feeling all the Doms are interchangeable. Deacon, Sam, what was the other one they meet at the club? they all act alike. they are the epitome of 'perfect' Dominants, considerate, patient, altruistic, ... picture perfect.
Kade is insecure, low self-esteem does not cover it, try NO self esteem. Throughout the book he finds his self esteem because Deacon loves him, chooses him and continues to do so (patient uhuh) Well, i'm sorry, I do not believe it healthy for any person to define themselves and find selfworth because someone else loves them. Not at the level Kade is at. That would call for.... therapy!
that said: there were some interesting things in this book, scènes that held promise, even a few nice ideas. But these did not outweigh the annoying ones. Continue the search for good BDSM... ...more
I didn't remember this was actually the first short after two massive worldbuilding novella's. I feel thrown in the deep end a bit brusquely. my heartI didn't remember this was actually the first short after two massive worldbuilding novella's. I feel thrown in the deep end a bit brusquely. my heart quickly catches up as we see them thwirl thwirl...closer and closer.
I never noticed how strong Warrick was the first time around. i was so focused on Toreth, feels like i cut W short cause Keir is the rock, the strong force that drags Toreth in. aww so sweet a story...so cute the tentative steps Toreth allows himself. bless them
I actually prefer the shorts to the main book.... we see Toreth and Warrick growing towards each other, slowly slowly :) wouldn't want to rush dear-old Toreth :)
these guys are sublime! combine great hot steaming sexual tension with fab storywriting.
Re-read done: sticking with the 4 stars. when you've read the entire series before, you need to take a big step back in time and I wasn't really up-toRe-read done: sticking with the 4 stars. when you've read the entire series before, you need to take a big step back in time and I wasn't really up-to-speed in the beginning. I found it difficult to connect with the underlying murder story. and the dynamics between Toreth and Warrick are so different at first! I was soo impatient, God! After a while I settled into the story and i got to appreciate it fully. From a thriller-detective POV this is one of the best i've ever read.... there are no shortcuts to hurry the story along, the outcome is never obvious. Add a little spice between T & W....bloody hot spice in fact: Fab!
it's good to re-visit them, I know how they'll end up and in that light, a little reminder of the early days is quite interesting....
