I haven't read many books as of right now, but this by far was the scariest one. I know that sounds a little crazy seeing as how it doesn't look or seem that way from the excerpt it tells. How can dolls be scarey right? Just you wait and read. I guarentee you I won't look at dolls the same way (especially if they have green eyes) I kid you not while I was reading this I stayed with my mom and she would go to bed and I'd be sitting on the bed reading and not wanting to get up to go in the kitchen or anything with the lights off.
At the beginning of the story everything seemed as normal as it could be for Alexis. As she stood outside her creepy old Victorian house taking pictures at 3am. Then she heard noises what could it have been?
I loved the MC, Alexis she wasn't the typical pretty girl or whatnot, and she definitely has an attitude that says she doesn't give a rat's butt (yes that's what I said). Through out most the book she was kind of a loner (she did have the "doom squad" every once in awhile) Then BAM a hit in the head with a door by Carter and her feelings toward the popular kids went down a notch...sorta.. She tried to make him go away, but he just kept coming back (Why turn down a hot guy?) That is one friendship that began to blossom. Then somehwere down the line she became friends with some others. I liked how Alexis could finally look past who they were and give them a chance.
In the end things will suprise you. I can say that at one part in the book I was like are you kidding me? Don't do it damn it! Don't! it all worked out though. :)
(I'm seriously creeped out by it as I sit here and read it (kinda in the dark) I don't think I've had a book that's done that to me. Yet, I sit here and continue to read.)This was as I was reading the book)

I put it on my to order list. So for starters not having read the first one I found it very easy to understand what was going on right away. Which to me is a plus. In the story itself the characters did tell about things that happened in book one, which for me made it all the more reason to read the first book as soon as I can buy it.
The main part of the story revolves around Tamsin traveling back to around 1887 to warn her past family about a danger that good ruin the Greene Family. How can she possible do that without her timetraveling boyfriend? Well once she finds the way. She manages to get there and wiggles her way into the Knight's household. What exactly goes on there? You'll have to read and find out. It has exciting twists and turns and roundabouts. :) I will say that the ending not so much what I was expecting. I did enjoy it.
I'm also a fan of the whole Talents. Not all the characters can do the same as the others. They all have well "Talents" from freezing, fire, reading this book (like a teller),timetraveling, bodyslipping (don't actually know what it's called), absorbing others talents, and some others those are the main ones though.
I loved the MC from the beginning of the story and all the rest of the characters. Tamsin is full of witty comebacks and she seems to care alot about her family (even if she does mess with Rowena and the dress she picked out for the wedding for Tamsin). Everyone of the family members were funny. Uncle Chester and his fixing things like the teapot to make it sing "I'm a little teapot" too funny. The grandmother even though she didn't do or say much. What she did have to say was plenty. Like all Grandmas she's wise. Gabriel oh Gabriel the awesome boyfriend (and timetraveler) cares alot for Tamsin. He's just the all around good guy. *sigh* The best friend Agatha, who didn't have a big part but never the less was a good character/friend.
I can only hope that somehow a third will come from it. :) To learn more visit my blog!...more

First off, I have to say complete and total cover love. I absolutely love this cover and it represents the book perfectly. I've always been interested in ghosts, and stories about them. Whether they're real stories or made up. So it's no surprise that I would come to love Anna Dressed in Blood. When you first read the synopsis you're thinking (or I was thinking) this is going to be a gory, dark, horror/thriller driven book. I mean with Cas going around killing ghosts. You know people who are suppose to be ALREADY dead? How can it not be a horror story, or a thriller? You never know what might pop out at you.
Kendare Blakes writing is to die for. (I know, I know I couldn't help myself) I love how descriptive she was with the ghosts, and Anna (and her dripping blood red dress). I fell in love. I know it's kind of hard to imagine falling in love with a book like this because it definitely did not hold anything back. When someone died a horrible death it described it perfectly. I'm not sure how I would know what a perfect horrible death is, but it read well. When an author can make you look over your shoulders while your reading that is a sign of awesome writing in my opinion. I kid you not I was sitting in my moms apartment building parking lot at like 10:30pm (I was waiting on my brother) and I started reading this, and I maybe got a chapter read and quit because I kept hearing things and looking in my backseat. Can we say chicken? (There's a shed and an old camper sitting across the way which made it worse.) I loved the way it made a complete 180 or is 360? Anyways, I like how it went from one thing to something else. I was like okay this is not what I was expecting, but it worked for me. I like being completely wrong about things it makes it that much more fun to read.

Especially, the wording as I was looking at the cover more it dawned on me exactly what it was, and it made me laugh. I can't go into detail because of the story itself, but I had to laugh a little at it. Still, I love it and the eyes on the girl. I would love to have bright blue eyes like that.

Actually, I loved this book more then I did, A Touch Mortal, it's first book. I'm not sure if it's because it kept me interested in what was going on or what. I think it was because I was more aware of how their worlds worked and who was who and what was what if that makes any sense at all. I had a hard time following the first one, but that's for another review that I never got to (which I will because I'm thinking of re-reading it.)
I think the reason I enjoyed this one a bit more was because of the pacing, and by that I mean not everything happened at once. It didn't feel rushed. We didn't know to much about one character, and we would get a glimpse of what was happening with character B but not the full on. (Sorry I'm trying not ruin the first book for those who haven't read it) we got to see more of the fallen and the bound.
As for the characters themselves I liked a few of them and then some I didn't care to much for. I liked the new character Sullivan more then the older characters. I'm trying so hard not to mention the characters because in my opinion it gives away some of book one. I will say that I don't particularly care for Eden she seems a little stuck up, and thinking she better then everyone else. ...more

Her stories are always so haunting and full of sadness at least the two I've read. If you haven't read anything by her I definitely recommend it. The stories are written in versus form so they're easy to get through, but you will walk away with this amazing feeling. Even though most are about death, and what one might go through. It also shows through the characters struggles that there is hope....more

I absolutely adore this series. Why it took me so long to read the second book I don't know. Maybe, it's because it was on my kindle and for some reason I have a hard time committing myself to reading things on the kindle. I know that's a stupid reason, but it's true. I'm one of those readers who enjoys the actual book in my hand. I did go ahead and buy the third one on my kindle as well so I would be up to date when the fourth is released this year.
For Rylie living in the city wasn't going to work out after becoming a werewolf so she moves to the country where her aunt lives in hopes that she doesn't attack anyone. Still changing into a beast every new and full moon and controlling that thirst is harder than expected, and things turn up dead. When things turn up dead and it looks like a werewolf is the cause that brings the hunters in town and Rylie is no longer safe and she can no longer hide her secret.
I was really glad that Seth got a bigger part in this book because I adore him. He's not that overly, protective guy. He has a kind heart and I enjoy seeing that in the male characters. Believe it or not I actually enjoyed Seth's family members as well. Okay, yes they're set on killing Rylie but still I have a soft spot for them....mainly Abel. Rylie was still an awesome main character and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book which I need to start reading....more

Which didn't botherI made the mistake of reading some reviews of Carrier of the Mark before starting it. Therefore, I went into it thinking Twilight. Which didn't bother me too much because I'm not one of those people who absolutely hated it. While I'll agree Carrier of the Mark had some very, VERY close similarities to Twilight it also held its own. If you want to get technical and everything then you have to say this about a lot of the books that came after Twilight. There are even books that came after Harry Potter that were close to it. Books that are close to Vampire Academy. So it's all good and dandy if you want to compare books, but just remember the Authors will have a slightly different take on things. Also I will say a few of my reviews do point out the fact that certain books (if you want to know which ones you'll have to look through my reviews) share these similarities, but I also try to point out the differences in them as well. Instead of just completely tossing it under the bus as a rip-off. I know this may come off as kind of rude, but it's only my opinion.
Now I will get off my soapbox. -steps down-
Carrier of the Mark really is a good story (twilight similarities aside). While the writing was nothing spectacular it was enjoyable. There were parts that sounded magical. It kinda made me want to be in that moment.
"He threw his arms up again. This time the wall rose higher and arched inward, until it finally met above our heads. It was like being underwater, our own private water cave. I could see fish swimming through the liquid ceiling high above us. The sun behind turned the sea dome a shimmering aquamarine. It glittered and sparkled like nothing I had ever seen. " -page 268
I enjoyed Leigh Fallon's take on the elemental aspect of the book, although there were some points where Fionn and the others were trying to explain the Carriers of the mark and the order to Megan that I just plain got confused. I eventually figured it out. It's something about books that have the elements in it that I enjoy. The whole Earth, Fire, Wind, and Air thing gets me. I think it would be interesting to be able to control those, and then there's the fifth one that always pops up later in the story. If you've read any elemental books I'm sure you can guess the fifth one.
I actually adored all the characters as well. It took some of them a bit longer to warm up to our MC, but eventually you knew it was going to happen. I saw Megan as being a lot stronger then other heriones, and her relationship with Adam although, it was insta-love -sigh- I still liked it better then others. Oh and as of right now I didn't notice a love triangle. Thank you Leigh Fallon!
Needless to say I'm extremely excited for Shadow of the mark.
